Still getting Invalid URL on Washington Post sites

Clicking any link to a Washington Post headline returns an Invalid URL error. This has been going on for several weeks, before which everything worked with no problem.
One other post (not from me) about this problem produced a reply, but the instructions given do not work.
I'm on a Toshiba Satellite laptop, Windows 7, FF 3.6.15.

The problem is with the extension "HTTPS Everywhere." I found the solution on another site as follows:
Rather than disable HTTPS Everywhere, you can simply disable the
washingtonpost.com rule. Go to Tools -> Add-Ons, and then click
Preferences for the HTTPS-Everywhere add-on. Then un-check the
WashingtonPost box.
The solution worked like a charm.

  • Keep getting "invalid url" when searching title bar and built in google search.

When I use the title bar, or the home page to search using google, i get "invalid url". If I manually type in www.yahoo.com, or any other site, everything works fine. Usually if I restart the computer, everything is normal again. This does no happen all the time, but once it starts, it wont go away. I even restarted in safe mode and then disabled all add ons and still nothing.

  • Why do I get INVALID URL when I try to use links thru facebook?

I use a laptop, running Windows7, with Mozilla and Safari as my main browsers. I've noticed that 75% of the time,(when I'm on Firefox) and I am on Facebook, when I try to play my games I get INVALID URL. If it happens on Mozilla it also happens on Safari (I've checked). Nothing I do works. I've tried every suggested *fix*, and nothing helps. It only affects FB and the links thru FB. I can go to any other website, just not fb nor any of the links to my games. All plugins are up to date except Silverlight plugin because I don't know what it is, nor how it got on my laptop. Haven't deleted it because I don't know what it is and what it's for.

  • Invalide URL message w/multiple sites

I am having difficulty logging into, staying logged into, or even entering multiple sites. It started with just facebook, but now I get the "URL Invalid" message or "Access Denied" on many sites (diapers.com, google maps, even apple sites, too name a few). Sometimes when I am logged into a site and click on a link, a box will pop up that says safari cannot verify the security certificate or invalid security certificate of whatever website I am logged into, and I am no longer able to use the site. It is driving me crazy! I have read some other threads with this discussion, but most instances of this seem to be isolated to facebook - not mine. I have reset Safari numerous times and emptied the cache. Also, my OS is up-to-date. Is this some kind of virus or bug?

  • STILL getting endless error messages using support site

SINCE DAY ONE we've had "Bad Request" error pages when visiting most pages on the www22.verizon.com support site. And today--just trying to post this message--it gave me "Request Entity Too Large" errors about 6 times.
I need to access all of the Verizon FIOS account functions and I CAN'T. I've contacted Verizon about this issue for MONTHS. What are we supposed to do? Blow a trumpet?

    JOSEm441 wrote:
    1. Once reason for this could be a "corrupt cookie" I would suggest clearing all internet cache reated to this site. If you need help doing this please let us know what browser and Operating System you are running.
Also if you are using a favorite to get to the site, search for my verizon 3.0 and use the link found.
    2. OR  Install a new browser and test with it on your machine (I recommend FireFOX if you are using Internet Explorer now)
    3. If 1 or 2 does not solve it; go to a differnet computer that has never been used to access said sites and see if the issue persists.
I have been getting the "Bad Request" messages for many months, have tried and been unable to get any resolution from Verizon.
    1) Did that several times, had no effect.
    2) I am using Firefox, have been for many years, currently on Firefox 17.0.1, still get the error, although I have not experienced it as frequently since Verizon switched to the new My Verizon interface, but I still get it on some links. Have gotten the error on IE and Google Chrome also.
    3) Have not tried that, don't see the benefit, at least for me, since it happens on the only computer in the house that I use, I need it to work on my computer, not some other one.
Months ago I tried to get Verizon to add some additional information to the bad response message, stuff like error codes, link that failed, module name, etc., so when we reported the error we could provide some actual usable information about the problem. As far as I know, nothing has been done, which is very disappointing.

  • Keep getting invalid certificate notifications on certain sites on Safari. How do I get sites to trust?

About a week ago my MB Pro (wife's computer) said date and location was lost. Wife went in and reset. A day later on my side I started getting invalid certification notices dropping down from menu bar. Mostly an annoyance and would either click cancle or resume. However some sites, Facebook in particular, I lost the page altogether. I get a white screen with blue and whit text along left margin. I've worked with an online tech for 4 days and have not resolved. Does anyone know the fix or had similar problem. I'm at wits end.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.
You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.
It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

// please insert your web service URL here for exchanging peer ID

you must install a peer id registration/lookup service compatible with VideoPhoneLabs' queries onto your web server.  a sample service is the "reg.cgi" python script included with VideoPhoneLabs. you must create the database it'll use according to the schema in the script comment and place the database (and the script) in your filesystem with appropriate permissions for your OS and web server. then you give the URL to that web service as the WebServiceUrl constant.
