Still got boot problems.

I got my new PSU today, and I hoped that my problems schould be solved then. But I had wrong. My system can't boot. But I've discovered that if I just use one memory module the system can boot. But if I use both, it can't boot. I know that the modules are working because i've tested them in another system. Do someone know if there is anything I can do. If not, i'm going to ship back the mainboard and hopefully get a new one.
Best regards
Henke

try 2 things, first are your 2 sticks when there in single or dual channel, try both.
second, run http://memtest86.com one 1 stick at a time for say 12 hours each and see if either one gives an error or 2 ( or maybe loads ), if one stick does but the other don't than you got a faulty ram stick, I know you said they work in an other system but your settings might be tighter in this system which would show up any marginal faults, let us know.

I already try these steps but I still got the problem I can't make a video call at all or receive .

    Here som other steps you can try;
Make sure that you have an internet connection
Make sure that you have a valid Apple ID (check here: myinfo.apple.com). Note that your Apple ID  to register FaceTime on iPad 2, iPod touch, or FaceTime for Mac must be an email address. You can create a new Apple ID or make changes by visiting myinfo.apple.com and using the “Manage your Account” part.
Tap Settings > FaceTime to see that your email address is verified. If your status is saying “verifying,”; then try toggling FaceTime off and on (Settings > FaceTime OR FaceTime for Mac: FaceTime > Preferences)
Try turning FaceTime off and on again using the following (iOS: Settings > Phone OR FaceTime for Mac: FaceTime > Preferences)
Make sure that FaceTime is enabled (Settings > FaceTime.)
Make sure that the camera for FaceTime is not restricted (Settings > General > Restrictions.)
Tap Settings > General > Date & Time to check date and time are set correctly.
Make sure that you are using the correct method for calling the person. iPhone user: Use the phone number; iPad 2, iPod touch, or FaceTime for Mac user: Use the email address

  • Second replacement 3G (3.1.3) Still got camera problems.

I was having problems with the photos on my replacement 3G,(3.1.3) they were very blurred. Took it back & they replaced it again however i find the same problem again. Photos on camera-roll are ok, not blurred, but if i email myself a photo from camera-roll then drag it into iPhot it's VERY blurred.
However, once i plug in iPhone to sync in iTunes the photos are still blurred until i put them in one of my folders(Mo & family) then they are fine & can be emailed with no blurring at all?
    My son found this http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1802430&start=0&tstart=0
but this was way back in 2008-2009 only difference is the photos in my camera-roll are NOT blurred like the people on that discussion! I'm finding it very confusing & strange...
Anyone got any idea as to what's going on please?
For now i just wont be sending any photos from my iPhone...will send from iPhoto

Photos sent via email or MMS from the iPhone are sent at a lower resolution/size.
With firmware update 4.0, there is a size option provided for a photo or photos to be sent via email - small, medium, large, full or original size.
If you are using the Share function with a selected photo or photos to be emailed, try using the copy function for the selected photo or photos instead followed by pasting the copied photos in the email. When using copy/paste for the photos instead of the share function, the photo or photos will be sent as full resolution.

  • Null statistics for tables but still got optimizer problem

    Hi,
We got a batch application on 10.2.0.4 Oracle database that does a lot of deletes and inserts when run it. Nightly statistics gathering was not enough so I deleted and locked the statistics for all tables. Now it has null statistics so it supposes to use dynamic sampling instead of statistics. At beginning the query executions were ok, however after the application ran for a well, it still chosen a very bad query execution plan (with cost over ten times more that it was normal).
What is happening here? Null statistics is still not good enough for the highly volatile database? Is there anything else I can do?
    Thanks in advance.

Provide information like the structure of your table (including indexes), your compartibilty and optimizer settings, your SQL Statement and sample explain plan of the SQL.

  • Windows 8.1 Installation On Mac - Got a Problem

Windows 8.1 Installation On Mac - Got a Problem
    Hi everyone,
I'v researched a lot about installing Win on Mac but I still got a problem when everything seems to be fine.
I got a Macbook Pro Retina, Late 2013 with OSX Mavericks and Bootcamp 5 installed on. And for installing windows, I already got an empty 8GB USB Drive formatted as MS-DOS (FAT32). And I've prepared Windows 8.1 ISO in my Downloads folder.
During my last effort, I opened Bootcamp Assist and then Chose the options: "Create Windows 7 or later version installation disk" and "Download the latest windows support software from Apple". Then I chose my Windows 8.1 ISO location and my destination. When it finished ,I was expecting it to run windows setup. But it closed and nothing happened
When I opened BootCamp again, only the first two options were available as before and "Install or remove Windows 7 or later" wasn't.
Now ,what do I have to do exactly? (NOTE: I'm not a professional. So please answer in a simple way. )
Should I restart the Mac and Hold OPTION while booting to run Windows setup? I was thinking about it but I thought I might screw it up all. So I decided to ask it here to be sure.
Any help will be appreciated by heart!

    Hi Alcatrax,
I would recommend following the steps in this link in order to help you complete your installation of Boot Camp:
Boot Camp Help: Install Windows on your Mac
    https://help.apple.com/bootcamp/mac/5.0/help/#apdecf0e4b6-b472-438d-881e-57c230b 1c250
    Prepare your Mac for Windows
Boot Camp Assistant helps prepare your Mac for Windows by creating a new partition for Windows and then starting the Windows installer. Optionally, you can install Windows using an external USB drive that contains a Windows ISO image downloaded from Microsoft and Windows support software.
Important: If you’re using a portable computer, connect the power adapter before continuing.
Insert an external drive into the USB port on your Mac and keep it inserted while you install Windows and Windows support software.
Open Boot Camp Assistant, located in the Other folder in Launchpad.
Select the option to install Windows, select other options you need, then click Continue.
Here are the other options you can choose:
If you want to install Windows from an external USB drive and you have a Windows ISO image, select the option to copy the image to an external USB drive. If this option isn’t available, your Mac doesn’t support installing Windows from an external USB drive.
If you haven’t already downloaded the Windows support software for your Mac, select the option to download it. In a later step, you’ll install the Windows support software on your Windows partition.
Follow the onscreen instructions for the options you selected.
When you’re asked to create a Windows partition, specify a partition size. If you have multiple hard drives in your computer, you can select a different hard drive and create a single partition on that drive, so that the drive is solely used for Windows.
Note: You can’t resize the partition later.
If you need help determining the best size for your Windows partition, refer to your Windows installer documentation. For Windows 8, create a partition that is at least 30 GB.
In a later step, you’ll format the Windows partition.
If you are using an installation disc for the 64-bit version of Windows, insert it into the optical drive in your Mac or the external optical drive. Otherwise, keep the external USB drive with the 64-bit version of Windows inserted.
    Click Install.
Boot Camp Assistant creates the Windows partition, restarts your Mac, then opens the Windows installer.
Thanks for being a part of the Apple Support Communities!
    Regards,
    Braden

    VPN-User,
Ok - I see the list of issues and will ensure our X300 specialist takes a look at it.
Please do understand that while you have put together a very coherent list, I try to ensure priority to threads in which multiple customers are focused on a single issue, as we deliver the most benefit to the community in working on those.   This forum is primarly a peer to peer discussion forum rather than a Lenovo chat / tech support where we try to solve each and every issue put forth.
Individuals with a long list of issues on a particular machine may find benefit from either contacting technical support and working through their list, or publishing it as you have done and wait for other users of the same system to share their experiences.

    Hi,
WIFI stopped working after I woke the computer up, now says connected to the network but not the internet, all other coputers and devices connected still with no problems, have pinged IP address from router and got the message "4 packets sent none received"... Help
I have tried network diagnostics which doesnt help... The only other ting is, when I woke the computer up it said tat another device was using my IP... My wife had plugged her phone into the computer to charge etc but even when i turn wifi off on the phone there is no change... also in settings on the phone the IP address is different...

The answer to your question is - neither!
Your PC should to configured to obtain an IP address automatically, and to obtain DNS server IP addresses automatically, from the Airport Express. This is the way Windows (and Macs for that matter) are configued by default, and that is the way most people have their computers set up. If you manually configured your PC's IP address to be the same as your wife's Mac, it certainly explains why your PC is not able to access the internet.

  • Help: Still got problems with package

I still got problems with my self-defined packages. My source files are all put in a directory as the package
    name suggests. The questions are:
    1. Before the classes in the package can be cited by the outside programmes, should I compile
every sources files in the package respectively?
    2. Secondly, I want to put the .class files in another directory, such as \classes\package name, should
I set the path mannully? If yes, how to do it?
    3. I downloaded some *.java files from Internet and put them in a directory as their package name suggested.
However, when I run javac a.java I got error: cannot read a.java. What problem could it be?
    Thanks!

    1. Before the classes in the package can be cited by the outside programmes, should I compile
every sources files in the package respectively?Yes, you can't run .java files. The JVM only uses the .class files, so you have to compile them.
    2. Secondly, I want to put the .class files in another directory, such as \classes\package name, should
I set the path mannully? If yes, how to do it?You have to put the .class file in the package directory structure. You have no choice about that.
    3. I downloaded some *.java files from Internet and put them in a directory as their package name
suggested. You need to read a lot of stuff, but start with this:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/tooldocs/windows/classpath.html
However, when I run javac a.java I got error: cannot read a.java. What problem could it
be?You don't run .java files. You run .class files.

  • WONK,BONZ , i thinki got the answer for the boot problem :)

    hi there wonk and bonz
well mine i think u will be suspecting the psu bcos u have told me that my psu combined watt is lesser than 160
hmmm well now ia around 2am here in singapore..
no choice, i need to setup new computer for my friend , yet i have not settle my own one first...
so i just cant wait and i take allthe tools out, and modify the L11 bridge to 1.7 volt by default...
and guess what? when i set to 166 fsb , it manage to boot up normally without using the reset button , i think 20 out of 20 times that i have tried
i am just suspecting why if the default voltage work so good while if i modify the voltage to non hw default, my pc will not boot up without the a press on the reset button .... , hmm i wonder is it bios problem or the board itself  ?(
another thing is , my pc wont be stable at first, then i plug in the 4pin 12volt plug onto the board, and it boot up fine and running win Xp at 11.5 x170 now : )
manage to finish super pi 1mb using 44 seconds
Hmmm well hope all this can help anyone out there with the booting problem and of course, they must be willing to connect the L11 bridge on their athlonXP
Well of course i Hope Msi will look into these problem in order to fix that , hmmm dont tell me that i am lucky to fix it in such a way? Well hope Msi will regain its reputation back  )
Thanxx Wonk and Bonz and everyone out there who helped me with advice  :D
    here is my specs again
    tBred A 1800 @2400(11.5X170)
    vcore 1.7 default(modified using L11)agp clock 85 ,
    PCI autodetect disabled
    2x kingston 512 333DDR at 2.5 6-3-3
    Wd800JB, Samsung 48x24x48x 8mb buffer
    Inno3d geforce4MX@300core x440mem

    hi backwoodz : )
ohh its because if i alter the voltage through the bios, it wont boot up normally , just like what others complaining about , it wont boot up when u press the power button , but after u pressed the reset button , it will boot up if u a re lucky , sometimes i have to press more than 20 times of reset in order to have it boot up
so i doubt that this msi board do have some flaw in terms of Vcore voltage management.
its like if u pull out the power chord( which means your comp lose power completely) then u put it back and u push the power button , it wont boot up , the D Bracket will get stuck at random order sometimes cpu faulty and mostly its memory checking hang.....
so in order to overclock my cpu without altering the BIOS vCore, i can only mod the athlon chip :P
ohh dont worry about the bump, last few days i set up a pc for my friend , its a new chip , same to have kinda a thick black line on one side of the cpu DIE, i think its normal one
maybe u guys never encounter the boot problem bcos :
    a)lucky :P
    b) u guys having good type of memory?
    c) good psu??
but among all the user having boot problem i have seen in their specs having antec power supply, and corsair memory? so i dont think thats the main problem , i still suspect the way this board work out with the bios Vcore setting :P
hopefully someone can confirm with me ab out this  : )

  • Got MSI P7N Platinum board back from RMA, still no boot

Got no indication from service what if anything was wrong with the board.  The only thing i noticed was that the CPU p/s connector had the block-off plastic removed so that all 8 pins were accessible.  I then used my 8 pin (vs 4 pin) p/s connection and still no boot.  I guess next step is to test with a different CPU.

    UPDATE:
Talked (emailed) MSI customer support and this was their reply:
Dear Customer, According to the RMA report for the board it was found to be NG when received due to a bent pin in the CPU socket. The repair was made to the CPU socket which i beleive they replaced the CPU socket on the board then the board was fully tested it was found to be good and was shipped back. They do a full function test so the board must post in order for it to pass which in this case did. One suggestion if you have not try clearing the CMOS be sure to unplug the power cord when clear. But if you have done so then we can release a 2nd rma and this time have the board replaced. But also check the CPU socket pins according to the RMA report they indicated was a user damage so check to make sure that none of the pins are bent. Thank you,
Now, I don't know if anyone here has experience with board rework, but r&r of a large component is quite difficult and risky.  We generally only do rework on a large piece like that if the board is a validation system worth several thousands and is in short supply (less than 10).  On a mobo that retails for $150 it wouldn't be cost effective.  So, when i inspected the board after receipt, it does *not* look to have had the socket reworked, it still has the same solder flux coverage over the entire bottom side of the board (wasn't cleaned, which is usually the last step of rework).
Subsequent communicate assured me that I would get a replacement board, but i'm still waiting for the e-call tag so I won't have to pay for shipping again.  I'm a bit dissappointed at this point, since i've had my system down for 4 weeks now.  If the next one works, then fine but i'd need a really compelling reason to purchase another MSI product.  I will be building a home theater pc this summer and will definitely not be buying MSI for that.

  • 1st series iMac G5: Booting problems, kernel panics, waking from sleep...

Specifications of the iMac described: 1.8 Ghz, 1GB, 80GB, 64 Mb Nvidia VRAM, Airport, 10.5.5
Back in August 2004 my dad bought us kids an iMac G5 for ‘family use’. It had a fresh install of 10.3.5 on it and compared to the (1999) iMac G3 it replaced it was amazingly fast.
The iMac never showed any signs of probable issues, until we decided to upgrade to Leopard in January 2008. Initially, this upgrade was only meant to be able to sync with the latest iPod nano (who demanded a newer version of iTunes).
After the installation the first thing I noticed was a high CPU usage, the machine seemed slower than ever and that with 1 Gb of RAM (the minimum sys. req. for Leopard are 512 Mb of RAM). Anyway, then the real thing started, it wouldn’t turn on anymore. We brought it to an Authorized Apple Reseller, the Tech department said the Logic board had failed. The costs of the fix weren’t the worth the computer anymore, so...end of story. The iMac was indeed one of the bad series, although it hadn’t any swollen capacitors.
My dad already made up his mind and bought himself a Macbook. He then told me that if I was able to get the broken iMac fixed, I could keep it. And so, I bought an ‘as-is’ logic board on Ebay. Last weekend I installed it, and it actually seemed to work! Yet, the problems are during the startup: the first thing I see is a screen full with horizontal lines flickering all the time, like an old TV with bad signal. Mostly it won’t boot and I get the message to restart the computer (kernel panic, I got dozens of logs already!). Sometimes it got stuck during booting (grey apple screen with gear in the middle) making the fans go crazy (after a while) and sounding what others describe as a ‘jetliner taking off’ sound. Sometimes the screen remains black. Generally it takes me 5 to 10 minutes to start up properly. Maybe it’s just me but it seems like when the computer has warmed up a little (by turning on and off on and on) starting up gets smoother. I mean the startup screen suffers from less horizontal flickering lines.
During the use of Leopard, I again get high CPU usage, especially when I use multiple programs at the same time, or when starting multiple programs. My iStat Pro said once that the fans were running at 4700 rpm and the heat of the CPU was about 70 Celsius. If I really want to **** my iMac off I should play a racing game. That just totally freaks him out! These problems could probably be solved by adding more RAM. Right?
The iMac also has a sleep problem. Sometimes after lets say an hour or so, you can’t get it out of sleep mode (by manipulating keyboard and/or mouse, the sleep light stops, but the screen stays off --> only solution is to restart). What happened to me once was that it slept so long that it just got into a deep sleep by turning itself off completely!
Here’s a list of what I tried so far:
    - Disk Utility: Resetting the permissions, no problems were found.
    - Resetting the SMU, both on the logic board itself as by pressing the power button 5 - 8 seconds, no improvements.
    - Resetting the PRAM, no improvements.
    - Did the Hardware test of the original install CD, nothing was found, all good.
    - Did Archive and Instal, this actually messed my system entirely, cause it wouldn't boot at all and when starting up from the Leopard installation DVD it wouldn't recognize the Macintosh HD.
    - Did Archive and Instal with the original disks, this disk did recognize Macintosh HD and so I installed the original system, 10.3. Booting problems and those flickering lines are still there though.
Next phase will be erase and install, but first I want to know what you guys think about all this.
Oh eh, One more thing; The guys at Applecare (phone support) told me that the replaced logic board was also out of warranty and so they couldn’t help me. But as the man on the phone was kind, he told me to go look for a special ‘driver’ on the net. He said that the driver should be able to resolve some of the issues described. He said that I had to give in the name of the LB on google and look for results. Is this bogus? Because I haven’t found anything useful on google so far. What’s the name (rather than a number) of the LB in the first place?
I hope you guys can give me some answers. I'm kinda desperate. But I still feel there's hope...

The symptoms of a flakey power supply are sleep problems and you have done all the right things as far as resetting the SMU and PRAM. Your CPU usage can be tracked by going to Utilities>Activity Monitor - look and see what is hogging the memory. The flickering lines could also be an optical system going south.
The other thing you can do is run DiskWarrior or TechToolPro to see if you have corrupted directories. Preferential Treatment will let you check for corrupted preferences.
