Still! Hanging notes...
I love Garageband and used it a lot, but it seems to get more and more anoying issues. SO many times I have to restart it because of hanging notes. It doesn't matter if I stop the song, everything is quiet than, but when I hit the play button or make a new recording, the hanging notes are back. Maybe it's time to move on...
I know some folks here use Garritan but you might find a better answer at the Garritan forum if you know for sure its just the Garritan instruments that hang

Firefox hangs (not Responding message) I tried refreshing Firefox. I tried deleting history. I deleted Firefox and reinstalled the latest version which I already had running before and the same problem occurs. It starts hanging after a few minute when I start the computer mostly on my email page or ebay page and continues to hang for about 5 to 10 minutes then it starts to function normally. It is most annoying and I cannot figure what is causing the problem? Please help if you can?

If I was unclear I am sorry, I can not start Firefox normally after starting the computer in safe mode with or without the network because my USB internet modem will not allow me access to the internet in the safe mode. the USB modem will not work when the computer is in safe mode. The only thing I can do is start the computer normally then enter Firefox in the safe mode by holding down the shift key and pressing the icon for Foxfire at the same time. This will put Foxfire in the safe mode but the computer is operating in the normal mode Because I can not get access to the internet when I use the computer in the safe mode The USB modem will not connect to the internet when the computer is in the safe mode.

TS4123 After following ALL apple advise, iTunes store still will not run....
After exhausting all suggestions on the iTunes pages, I still can not get access to the iTunes store. All software is up to date & iTunes has been uninstalled & re-installed with no effect. All functions of the player are fine, but there is no access to the store or the updater. I have also used the "autoruns" program suggested with no help there either.

Use "Firefox/File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit") to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the title bar.

Mac pro still hangs on the blue screen on start up.
Hi.
my mac pro still hangs for ages on the blue screen before the login page where i input my password appears.
i've tried starting up in command-V and that didn't work.
i thought snow leopard was meant to improve, it has just slowed my start up down greatly!
could someone please advise on how to fix this?

Have you tried downloading and re-applying the latest Combo update?
If not, go to the apple download page, find the Combo update (couple of hundred MB) and install it.
This has fixed various issues in the past for numerous users... it might do the trick for you.
After it's installed and rebooted, repair permissions and reboot again.
Also check to see (using software update) if there are no firmware updates available for you.
And, make sure the OS drive's root is clean, just the basic Applications, Library, System and Users folders, no other mess. If there are 'Previous System' folders from earlier Archive & Install situations you might want to remove those.
Finally, if you upgraded from a PowerPC to Intel using the Migration Assistant the symptoms you are describing are very common, the migration assistant well... it ***** :/ -

Do you get an error message, if yes, what is the message?
Does Aperture hang or crash? If it is crashing, post the crash log here - copy and paste the first 60 lines of the crash log into your post, not a screenshot please.

my n82 still hangs. when it hangs the set becomes warm & the battery drain fast! I gave it to nokia care & they said for virus it doing like this. so they make it virus free but after 3 days later it hangs again & doing the same thing like before. I gave it a hard reset but still remains the same! I know it's not a virus. 1st of all I've brand new 8GB memory card having installing nothing only mp3, 2ndly no 3rd party application installed in ph memory even in memory card & 3rdly I've taken original new battery BP-6MT. it all started after recording a video of 27 mins through it. the set becomes warm & after saving it to memory card it begans to hang! it restarted automatically but hangs again & again. didn't matter if u put memory card or not. so again I gave it to nokia care for the 3rd time as am runing out of warrenty soon.
ny1 help me what can be the reason & what'll I do now??

Microsoft Office 2004 still hanging after Rosetta and Combo Update
I have been running MO 2004 on my intel Mac for the past 6 mo without any issues. Recently it has begun to hang one program at at time. Beginning with PPT, then Excel, Word, and now Entourage. I did some searching and saw an article on Rosetta. I installed it from the DVD and installed the combo update 10.6.8. On restart everything worked perfectly. Each program all started up. I closed them back out and went to restart them again...just to be sure. They all are hanging again. What is happening, what can I do? Many thanks, JD

Incidentally my Adobe CS2 programs had started to hang too. Reinstalling from disc did not help. Then I found free CS2 downloads including serial numbers from Adobe and that fixed them.

Safari 5.0.6 still hangs half-way, often
My OSX 10.5.8 dual G5 with Safari 5.0.6 still hangs half-way, often, when I click on URLs or bookmarks.
Strangely, when it does so, it seems to always hang with the blue progress bar in the same spot, almost exactly half-way up the URL address field.
If I stop the load and Reload Page, it always immediately gets the whole page loaded and shown.
Any ideas?

0. All of this hanging started suddenly after the last Apple System Security Update of a month or so ago. Perhaps 1/3 my *newly requested* pages hang during loading now, half-way through always, and going to a new tab and loading a different site will only hang 1/3 of the time, i.e. mostly opening a new tab and site is fine. Re-loading any page is always fine.
Your suggestions:
1. I clear cache and history, regularly, several times a day.
2. Using 8.8.4.4, 8.8.8.8 - Google Public DNS. I used to use OpenDNS but had trouble with it a few months back.
3. Not part of a network
4. It is only a year old, from Sky Broadband, and has served me very well until issue 0. above
5. Interesting... DNS pre-fetching: What is this and is it likely to cause pages to begin loading (AFTER DNS time) and then hang half-way through? I would think this problem is NOT my DNS settings, since the normal (short) DNS delay still occurs and the progress bar moves normally to half-way then hangs.
6. Flash: Yes, it's a total mess these days, bloated and very buggy. This sometimes causes an overall slow down, but not hanging for me.
7. I will try the "killall" next time a page hangs; will this fix that current hang, or do I need to reload. REMEMBER: reloading *always* unhangs the page load.

You have to restart Safari for it to take effect.

If you have a lot of tabs open and/or a lot of pages running Flash, Safari can sometimes 'hang', requiring a restart of Safari. This can often be inconvenient, and as it is rarely Safari itself that is hanging but merely one of its plug-ins, usually Flash, there is a way using Terminal to restart the plug-ins (without restarting Safari and losing your tabs) by quitting the WebPluginHost process:
Open the Terminal from the Utilities folder in /Applications and type
killall -9 WebKitPluginHost
Note that this command kills all Safari plug-ins, not just Flash. All plug-ins should start back up when you reload the page.
Then go back to Safari and refresh any pages that were using the Flash plug-in. This also fixes the Beachball of Death. Try this whenever Safari gets slow or freezes. The latest versions of Flash 10.1 appear to have improved the situation somewhat, but haven't completed eliminated it.

Thanks for responding. Since I upgraded ITUNES to IOS 6, my IPOD Touch no longer works at all. I had numerous apps, music and videos on this touch. It made me restore to factory reset and it still does not work!!! Nothing I do will work on this touch now. I have so much data on this, I don't want to loose or have to restore!

Sorry for short novel I am writing. I just wanted to cover as much backround as possible.
So, here it goes. I backed up my iphone 4 after renting a movie. The movie only played the starting credits before I was called on for daddy duty. A few days later the movie would not play, so I restored my phone from my backup. The movie would still would not play so itunes support refunded my purchase and ended my viewing privileges for that rental after verifying that I had not viewed the movie. I then had a problem with my contacts showing up twice in the contacts list after the restore. So I attempted another restore. All was well at this point. I then started having trouble with my pc and decided to copy the internal drive to an external source. A week later I had a system failure and did a factory restore on my computer. I re-installed itunes and tried to copy and paste the old backup into the new itunes. Now itunes just flat out does not see the backup file (I failed to mention that I did a factory reset on the iphone after the last backup, hopping to start fresh). Tech support had me uninstall and re-install itunes and then copy and paste the old backup into the newly installed itunes with no luck. The files are all there, but itunes just doesn't see them (itunes says the device has not been backed up to the cloud or to the local machine). We then tried backing up the factory restored iphone and replacing that restore file with one of my old backups on the external drive. Ok, this is where it gets weird. We replaced the guts of the folder but left the folder itself so itunes would continue to recognize the new backup folder with the old files. Whoohoo, itunes now see's a backup folder full of old files, or so we thought. The new files were deleted using shift delete so they would be gone for good and not mix with any files or folders. When I restore my phone, it restores the files that were deleted from the restore file (pause here for a moment and imagine the stupid look on the face of tech support and I while we silently wonder how files that were permanently deleted were restored). This left tech support and I both scratching our heads. My service issue was escalated to the next level. I waited for the phone call the next day that was scheduled at 10am to my wife's phone, but the call never came through. As usual, apple disappoints again. I just bought an iphone 5s and still have the iphone 4, and am looking for a solution to retrieve my contacts and restore to the 4 or 5s. I am guessing that files in other folders must be associated with the iphone backup in order for itunes to retrieve the files. I still can not send email from my .mac account or a .comcast.net from my ipad. I how 2 people so far that has brought to my attention. We have exchange accounts setup on the ipads for work. I compare the settings from iPad to iPhone from my view it appears identical. I am looking at an iPad 2 and a Mini.
I turned on and off the ipads and nothing really changed. The emails come into those accounts.
Any suggestions?

Apple, as I said, does not repair your iPhone. All hardware service issues are handled by replacing the unit. So they can't handle the home-button issue without also addressing the issue of the cracked screen, for which they'll almost certainly charge you. But you can make an appointment at an Apple Store or call Apple tech support and plead your case.
