STILL have MBP audio issues after Bootcamp 3.1

I have a mid-2009 MBP 13" with Snow Leopard, running 32-bit XP Professional with SP3. I just updated to Bootcamp 3.1 after dealing with low audio, robo-voice from the internal microphone, and spooky red light/trackpad nonsense for months. While 3.1 fixed the red light and the trackpad, my audio issues still remain; I get very poor volume on the Windows side and my voice is still distorted, slow and generally crappy when I use the built-in microphone in the microphone test. The mic doesn't work at all in Steam, which is the whole reason I want it. Was 3.1 supposed to fix these audio issues? It doesn't explicitly say so on the download page, but it seems like it's been quite effective for other people, so if it is supposed to fix the audio I suppose I'm going down to the Apple Store.
If 3.1 wasn't a magic bullet, can anyone suggest a fix? I'm pretty fed up by now with this issue. I tried reinstalling the drivers after extracting them from the BC 2.2 update (found that process on these forums), and it did nothing. The link to the New Jersey school's site (another suggestion from the forums) no longer works for whatever reason.
Thanks!

Use Driver Sweeper and the tips on how to use and troubleshoot
http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/
You may also want to use Windows Installer Cleanup as I mentioned.
Also CCleaner can help.
MSCONFIG.exe can lead you to the services and startup items being loaded
Programs control panel of course to uninstall the program
Device Manager to rollback; or uninstall and manage device drivers
Apple installs a number of drivers, services, startupitems so you really have to get familiar with the OS and where/how to manage things.
Windows 7 supports RESTORE POINTS. Use 'em! and set one before just in case (any good installer or update should create a new one but good to have your own), and make sure there is 10-30GB of space for restore points.
System control panel advanced protection -> configure your boot volume settings

  • Do latest macbook pro's still have the heat issue? (7/10/06)

wondering if the latest revisions of macbook pro still have the heat issue.. i heard the issue of the fan going off/on causing that 'whine' is gone and now the last thing holding me back from making the 'switch' is this heat dealy.

My week 12 MBP has never had heat issues. It's fast, stable and comfortable to use.
The case bottom of my 5+ year old TiBook gets hotter than the MBP. I've used a tilt stand for PowerBooks for years, both to reduce heat and because I prefer the typing angle.
People are not getting burned. Really. If I were to charge a battery at the same time I'm running processes that load up both CPUs, the metal strip behind the function keys would get quite warm. It might be uncomfortable to touch (but doesn't have to be touched to use the computer). But it will not result in a physical burn, unless one loves discomfort enough to keep touching it for a protracted period. Even then, not a serious burn. A cup of coffee or tea is far more dangerous than a MacBook Pro.
I've encountered several hot-running MBPs owned by people that I know in my local area. In each case, the problem was caused by software that was loading up the processors at full blast. One case was a runaway process that was initiated by software that was incompatible with the Intel processors. Another was caused by a stalled startup item -- again, software incompatible with the Intel CPU. In both cases, Migration Assistant had been used and the applications had not been updated for Intel compatibility.
And still another case was a large collection of Widgets, some of which are badly written and load up the processors. Deactivating all but 3 or 4 Widgets made that computer run cool and quickly.
Complaints about heat on this forum dropped dramatically after the last firmware update.
If you want the most powerful notebook computer Apple has ever designed, get a MacBook Pro. I'm delighted with mine. No fix necessary, thank you.

  • Audio issues after upgrading to OS X 10.10 (Yosemite)

    Hello,
I have been facing audio issues after upgrading to OS X 10.10
    - No sound in VLC
    - Re-booting with Option-Command-P-R did not work
    - System sounds are fine
    - Quicktime Player works just fine
    I tried:
    - Plugging in earphones while video was playing on VLC
    - F10/F11/F12 while video was playing on VLC
    - Re-boot with Option-Command-P-R keys (found on a thread elsewhere)
    - Played something in Garage Band (found on a thread elsewhere) and restarted VLC
None of the above solved the issue
Any one else facing similar issue with VLC on 10.10?
How did you manage to fix this?
I am running VLC 2.1.5 btw.
    Thanks in advance!

Shockwave says at the present moment not to be compatible with OS X 10.9 Mavericks.
Youtube, QuickTime, all play with no sound at all.

  • Does The iPhone 4 Still Have The Reception Issue

hey guys i wanna know does the iphone 4 still have the "Death Grip" which is the reception issue (antenna issue) with iphone 4 when u hold ur hand (or fingers) near the antennas and the reception goes down to like 1 bar (n sometimes makes it go to no service).
i think someone said they have made newer models of the iphone 4 what have fixed it but i am not 100% sure
have they fixed it if i buy an iphone 4 now or does it still have the reception issue
here is what it is if u dont know what the reception issue is : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ixIHyEPO5g

My blackberry still has the reception / antenna issue. And always has. In fact, it is so bad that I can terminate the connection if I hold the phone with my head and shoulder.
My iPhone 4 (not s) on the other hand has never been a problem for me.
A lot of noise—not much benefit. However Apple did apply new engineering to the problem—which is great!

  • After the last update to the current Firefox I cant navigate forward or back on web pages or reload. It also doesnt open to my home page. Any ideas? I have uninstalled and reinstalled and still have the same issue.

I cant navigate forward, back, or reload any website. It also doesnt open to my home page which is set to google. I have to click on my home page button to get there. I also cant locate the plugins or addons which I could before. I know I have several.

Then you need a clean install.
First export your bookmarks to a html file. (Bookmarks/Unsorted bookmarks will bring you History page where you can export your bookmarks). Note down your add-ons too.
Uninstall the old FF using free software like Revo Uninstaller. This will delete all the root directories and registries of old FF.
Now download the latest version of FF and install it. You can re-import your bookmarks from your saved html file.
You may still have to do the fix in my first post.
Post here whether this worked for you.

  • MBP Audio issue

I have a brand new out the box MBP 15" 2.2ghz and have been experiencing audio problems in the last few days.
    I am running osx 10.6.8
Playback in Itunes becomes patchy when the volume is at full or in general volume is quite loud. When i turn music up audio starts to cut out followed by everything freezing up momentarily (around 5secs).
I originally thought this was an itunes issue but seems to occur when using Spotify also so now i feel it must be a operating system/ audio issue.
Anyone got any ideas? I have reinstalled osx and updated all software with no joy. Can see nothing unusual when activity monitor is open either.
    A bug in 10.6.8?
Thanks for any help in advance.

Hello, I would suggest you contact AppleCare. If you have already reinstalled OSX that usually solves any problems.
They will be able to help you out and fix the problem.
I remember them mentioning something to me about deleteing the iTunes plist when I was having issues with my iTunes, However if you are having issues with 3rd party audio applications, That says to me that it is something wrong with your soundcard or something along those lines.
Like I mentioned already, Give AppleCare a call, and ask for a case ID number, Incase the issue comes up again after your phone call is over, You can setup a genius bar appointment at your nearest Apple store and give them the case ID number.
    Hope this helps some!

  • Audio issues after exporting

I've made a 40 minute video of my friends' wedding, which plays beautifully in iMovie, but when I export it, there are some audio issues. I've read other forums and detached all audio before exporting and still the same result.
    1) Part of the opening sequence has a piece of audio (from another part of the video) that runs with some slow motion clips of bride and groom. When I export, the warped, slowed down original audio can be heard in the background. I've tried everything - detach audio and delete the offending piece of original audio to reducing the volume level of the original audio to 0. It's still there after exporting!!!
    2) Maybe as a result of the above, not sure, but once exported, the whole video audio is out of sync by a few seconds. Went back and checked the project and it's all good with all the audio lining up with the clips, but export and it's out of whack
My friends are hounding me to see the video and I keep stalling, quoting some 'technical issues'.
    Please help!

Just wanted to let you all know you've saved my sanity by posting on this board. Your solution - while not what I would have guessed in a million years was the problem source - fixed my video. I can't believe it was so simple! Now, if I could only get the hour(s) back where I tried to find the audio track I 'hadn't muted'...

  • TS3232 I have the mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter firmware 1.03 and I still have screen flickering issues

I have the mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter firmware 1.03 and I still have massive screen flickering issues on a Mac Mini 2012.
I am using a Dell 30" monitor (it's the Samsung screen just rebranded) connected to a WD 4TB Thunderbolt drive connected to the Mac Mini.
The screen is usable for the most part when I've just started the computer (although today I started having issues after a fresh restart) but if even just the screen goes to sleep, or the computer goes to sleep and I wake it later, I start to have massive flickering to black and occasionally to snow.
The effect seems to be more likely to arise when I'm on heavy graphics-intensive websites or programs (eg, Tumblr feed with lots of GIF images or working in Adobe Premiere), but once it starts shutting down those programs has no effect, the screen keeps flickering wildly.
The problem improved after the 1.03 firmware upgrade (for a while it was flickering uncontrollably ALL the time and was virtually unusable) but it has not gone away.
Any suggestions would be very welcome, either for how to fix this issue or how to get Apple to, you know, let me TELL THEM that their adapter firmware fix has NOT solved the issue, since my phone support has expired. :/

I have a new Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter to allow my original Apple 30" Cinema Display to connect to the new Mac Pro.  Shipped straight from Apple, it is firmware version 1.03.  I've never had flickering issues, but the display will often go black (possibly after a screen power save) and not come back.  when this happens I am still able to connect to and use the Mac via remote connection.  But the only way to get the screen back is either to unplug the adapter and plug it back in to the Mac, or to shut down and power up the Mac.  This may be a separate issue, so I'll also post it standalone...

  • HP Slate 21 audio issue after KitKat update and reset

I have upgraded my HP Slate 21 from JB to KK. Now the sound quality is very bad!
I came directly from xxx.11 kernel and made factory reset but didn't get a good result. Please how can I fix this tremendous issue?

    Hey @PauloTxR ,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand you're experiencing issues with sound quality on your Slate 21 PC.
Please review the following thread: HP Slate 21 Kit Kat OTA Update Fix for Audio Quality and LAN Connectivity.
This fix will resolve audio issues of a software nature resulting in the KitKat update. If your issue persists after applying the specific update mentioned in this thread and have done a factory reset, the issue is likely hardware related and not the result of the KitKat update.
If you have done the above and continue to have problems please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the following link to get the support number for your region: Phone Assist Worldwide.

  • Audio issues after update 6.0.1?

Is there a fix for the audio issues I'm having after update 6.0.1? I have audio for music and videos, but none for anything else. I have checked all my settings everything is on and loud and the test for all of it seems to work, but then it doesn't actually work, and that excludes all my apps have no sound either.

  • Speakerphone audio issues after iOS7 upgrade

Is anyone else having speakerphone issues after upgrading to iOS7?  I have a iP4 and when  used normally, transmit audio is normal.  When switching to speakerphone, transmit audio in non-existent and person on other end cannot hear me.  Thoughts?

I also have a Mac Air 2012, tried charging from Mac Air and it's now charging! Mac Air is now charging from the same wall unit location which I used for iPad 2 - so nothing wrong with the wall unit.
I just wish i could charge as fast from wall unit as with iOS 6.  Any further guidance is greatly appreciated.

  • Did you have buggy Mavericks issue after installing on Macbook Air Mid 2012?

Before I have upgraded my OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.3 to Mavericks 10.9 it runs so smoothly and no issues or hanging that I encounter. But just this morning when I installed Mavericks, I have the following issues:
1.) When I was adding a book(pdf and epud files) in iBook, the Finder malfunctioned, coz when I browse the books to it's location so I can add some more again, the Sidebar icons disappeared and only the names left. And when I go to the location of the files using Finder, the content is nowhere to be found, just a symbol on the window’s status bar that it is loading or busy on something.
2.) When I go to the Launchpad, when I scroll to left and right to find the apps I’m looking using the touchpad, it's not as smooth as before. It tends to halt on sliding to the other groups of apps, seems like there’s a friction stopping it from sliding smoothly all the way to the next group of apps.
3.) Updating the Apps from App Store seems cumbersome like the iPhoto and iMovie, coz when the internet fails or drops its signal for a while or so, you go back and download everything again, and when you hover the mouse to see the progress of the downloaded app, it shows for example 22mb of 1gb then shifted to 300mb of 1gb then back to 22mb of 1gb then back again. It’s not accurate and going berserk.
4.) And I don't know if it is just me, but the screen profile have changed a bit coz the red color of the Power Point icon seem too red and everything that has a hint of red color seems exaggerated, it’s too bright red. I'm just not sure it might be the GUI style of the Mavericks. . .
Anyway, have any of you experienced these kinds of issues on your Macbook Air Mid 2012?
Hopefully this could be fixed and Apple would seed an update in no time.

Even on my MacBook Pro Haswell (2013) 15 inch retina with a GT 750 2gb.
The Things in Mavericks that really make me :
    1. The Launchpad is buggy when i scroll to the left or right... sometimes it doesn't even respond at all.
    2. Safari and Other Apps Like AppStore freez sometimes, and i need to force quit everytime, because its not           responding.
    3. Bootcamp Windows 8.1 <---- NOT 8 Support (Bad Keyboard- Facetime camera- drivers,
Icons (brightness, sound) are ugly on retina screen) + GPU Drivers i can't update (maybe that's normal).
    4. iTunes is very SLOW when Scrolling the Albums (i know its 2880x1800 and that's heavy for GPU) But it's just     not a good 'Experience'.
    5. Gaming its realy good on this MacBook, but please make the drivers better, i know this GT 750 GPU can do           better.

  • Audio Issues After Upgrade to linux 3.9.2-1

I did an upgrade today and now I'm having an issue with my audio. What happens is it'll sound like it is skipping every few seconds. What I notice is the headphone symbol flickers on in the GNOME top bar, as if my computer thinks the headphones got plugged in and then removed vary rapidly. My first thought was poor connection to the wire going to my speakers, but it is fine, the speakers work with my laptop no problem, and the same problem comes with my headphones. Also I didn't have this problem before the update.
I was having trouble finding any info elsewhere about it, was wondering if anyone had a similar issue. The update I suspect is the linux kernel 3.8.11-1 -> 3.9.2-1, though I suppose I have no basis for suspecting it. Below is the pacman.log for today when I upgraded.

EDIT: So, after some not so successful searching I decided to test my suspicion. I downgraded from linux 3.9.2-1 back to 3.8.11-1. There were a few dependancies, the virtualbox guest and host modules as well as an update to nvidia. To be safe I downgraded all the nvidia updates that had happened. pacman log below.

So, now how would I go about determining which package broke the audio? I had suspected the linux kernel update, but I suppose the nvidia update could have done it to. If necessary I'd love to file a bug, but I want to make sure I can describe it efficiently. (I've never filed a bug before.)
EDIT (5/31/2013): Currently some work arounds that may alleviate your issue, the one that worked for me is to disable auto-mute in alsamixer. The problem however does still exist in the latest kernel upgrade, 3.9.4-1. Bug report is still open, and can be found here: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/35262
    Thanks,

Thanks for reporting it. Slight note though, I had no noise at all (no flickering).
If someone could update this thread when a new kernel works, that'd be great! I put it in my IgnorePkg for the moment.
Is there anyway to edit a bug report? I don't see anything obvious, but I'm exhausted, so maybe my brain isn't working properly. Anyway, if there isn't, I'd just leave a comment on the report with the fact that you hear nothing, not even the flicker.
And thanks for reminding me to add it to IgnorePkg, forgot to/never have had to do that before. But I'll be sure to post here when I know it's fixed.
