4. WiFi once again died after two weeks
So what do I do next??

In this case the wifi starts as being intermittent and then unable to connect to ANY wifi routher just like my previous iphone. Previous Iphone eventially ended up with the wifi option in setting as greyed out. Apple store was clueless as to what is causing this widespread wifi issue.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate the response. I tried that approach this evening and it didn't work for me. (Technically it worked for me, when I was hardwired into my base station, but would not work for me wirelessly, which is my main issue.)
Again, using the approach you recommended works only if I have my ethernet cable attached to the LAN port so my computer is communicating directly to the base station through the hard wire. I am able to scan for my base station and make setting adjustments normally this way too.
As soon as I disconnect from the LAN port and try to go wireless is where I run into problems. The Base Station's wireless network I created is available to choose in the top right corner of the monitor with all of the other available wireless devices/networks -- but the network I created does not have access to the internet. I am also unable to configure my Base Station wirelessly. When my Airport Utility tries to scan for the Base Station and Network, it cannot find any Apple Wireless Device. It's like the Wireless Network in my base station is not sending out a signal.
Is there a way to resolve this issue?

Sorry to hear this isn't going smoothly for you. Try Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates. You may have seen some of the suggestions here before but is has taken some users more than one attempt.

Iphone 5S have wifi issue afetr upgraded to IOS 8. Does Apple know about this?? Its really frustrating the signal is weak.

If I look at google, I will find that people reporting problems with every version of iOS. And accounts of being abducted by aliens. Just because you are having a WiFi issue does not necessarily mean the issue is with iOS 8 (correlation does not prove causality). Until you've done proper trouble shooting (or had Apple do it for you if you don't feel equipped), it's almost impossible to say why you are having a problem.

I have an AppleTV 3rd generation with issues of connectivity when I use the Radio. Every 10 or 15 minutes disconnects from showing an error on the screen, I research on the internet and apparently there is a program to replace some devices due a known malfuncion with the WiFi.
I always blamed to my cheap router and the poor internet connection I had in my former country Argentina. Now i moved to Chile and i have a nice Cisco/Linksys router and the issue persists.

That program was from over a year ago, it is no longer running. It still required proper troubleshooting to occur. It wouldn't have to do with an internet connection as this an issue with the local/wifi network, a cheap router will impact performance but there are other factors.
Using ethernet will help to see if there's a wifi issue. Get a network report from istumbler, netstumbler or similar, look for signal strength and noise.
If your network looks ok then I would take to Apple for testing, if it is found to be defective then they are usually good about replacement.

4.3.3 OS and now I have wifi issues

since I upgraded to 4.3.3. both devices (iPhone 4 & iPad 1) are having issues in reconnecting to wifi.
It started intermittently with the IP4 and now the IPad has won't connect and now it's all the time with both devices.
Previously, just a power reset of the AEX would cure it - now zilch.
I've tried setting up the Airport Extreme network again several times in various configurations - permanantly assigned IP addresses to each device, etc.
I have several other devices on different OS and they don't have any issues.
Anyone, please any ideas? It's bad enough living behind the GFW.

Try using Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

If you haven't already, try restoring your iPhone as a new device, not from a backup, and with only the apps Apple includes. Then see if the problems persist. It's possible that a corrupted file on the iPhone is causing the problems, and that could perhaps be coming back onto the iPhone if you're restoring using a backup. Problems with an app could also be causing problems. If the problems persist after restoring the iPhone as "new", then you almost certainly have a defective iPhone and will need to contact Apple for servicing.
If the problems go away after restoring the iPhone as "new", then you can start putting your other apps back on and see if the problems reappear; if they do, you probably have a badly-coded app.

I have a retina mbp, and I noticed that you need to wait a while for the "time remaining" on your battery charge to display correctly. For example, on my mac it starts off with ~4hrs 30mins after a full charge, but it gradually moves up to ~ 7hrs or even 8hrs 45mins. Of course, there are other things to consider, such as your brightness settings, keyboard lights, what programs your running, etc. I achieved the aforemention time remaining by having my brightness at most halfway up, keyboard lights at most up by 3 notches, and only performing simple tasks like surfing the web.

Does Firefox still have conflict issues with AVG anti-virus?

When the box pops up that tells me of the new update available it often says that there may be conflict issues if you are running AVG antivirus software. Does that conflict still exist? I like my AVG and would not like to change so I need to know before I update.

AVG WILL work with FF6.0.1 & FF6.0.2 It's safe search that is the problem see below from AVG: Please rest assured you are still protected by AVG even if you have already upgraded to Firefox 6.0. The AVG Active Surf Shield component is still checking all data and will prevent you from accessing malicious content even though search results verdict icons are not available temporarily.
The solution if you need the icons is to upgrade to AVG2012

I have not been able to set up a NEW SERIES on my Quantum DVR for three weeks and I am getting tired of it.
I went through all the troubleshooting with a tech on the phone, and had two techs come to my house. It is not my equipment, it is a BUG in the latest and greatest update, and I cannot revert back to the previous version! I am tired of paying extra money for a service I cannot use. Nobody has communicated with me in over a week. This is ridiculous and your customer service is really upsetting me. I am very disappointed in a new service that is now not working due to a poorly executed automatic update. At least let us choose to do updates. I usually wait a few weeks to make sure other people do not have any problems. Well, a bit buggy and as I have said, I am tired of it.
GET IT FIXED, OR GIVE ME BACK MY OTHER EQUIPMENT THAT WORKED FINE. TIME TO DOWNGRADE, TO GET THE SERVICE I AM PAYING FOR.
I will continue pointing people toward DirecTV until this is resolved. I am telling anyone who will listen about the poorly executed update and the poor customer service.

Your stuff may be working great at this time. There are several others who are having problems. We all know that only a handful of people ever post on forums. After doing a search on the Quantum DRV update problem, it is obvious Verizon has some issues that is affecting their customers. We (peers) can all agree on that.
You say you dont want replies from peers, just Verizon, but Verizon doesnt read these posts at all like you think they do. These are simply peer to peer forums. Only the mods who run the forums are here and esculate issues to support if the issue qualifies.
Verizon does have a long list of bugs since the latest update that they dropped the ball on and we can only hope they are working on it and will push out a fix very soon. They did release the update without properly testing it first. There's not much we can do except wait and I'm hoping since its taking some time to roll a new update out they are doing it right this time and are not only fixing the issues, but testing them before just rolling it out. I highly doubt the top guys in Verizon do google searches looking for issues we are having when they already know about them. The only thing that would possibly send them a message on if one is frustrated is leaving them all together.

[Solved] Constructed a multi-purpose prompt but still have 1 issue

I didn't think re-opening my old thread was a good idea so I'm starting new one to address 1 issue I have left to conquer.
With some help from JWR I have built my prompt and it works for users and root logged into a local machine. Logging into a remote machine does change my user's prompt by appending :ssh: to it. However, as the root user logged into a remote machine, which should have the :ssh: appended to it, doesn't work. By that I mean that root logged in to a remote system doesn't get the correct prompt. I want the prompt to look like this for root:

Instead I get this prompt which lacks the word "root" in it:

This is my prompt script so far and I'd really appreciate some help to nail down this glitch.
The script for root and user are identical apart from having a different prompt uncommented.

Do new Retina Macbook Pro's still have ghosting issues.

If I buy a 13.3 inch Macbook Pro Retina today will it have a ghosting issue, or has it been resolved?

These are user-to-user forums where everyday folk post "technical" questions and offer answers to each other voluntarily. No one here works for Apple nor does Apple get involved in responding.
The only way we would know if Apple has "fixes" is if they have publicly announced it on their website and Knowledge Base articles.

So, I dropped my phone in the toilet. I still have WiFi, everything works, except...

I cannot make or recieve calls or texts. A screen popped up saying I had to restore my iPhone at apple.com/support. But, I can't figure out how to do this. The top bar on my phone just says "Searching..." Like I said, everything else still works fine (it's taking a much longer to charge up than usual, but, hey, I dropped the thing in the toilet.) I have kept it in dry rice for about 6 hours hoping maybe that would help.
