Still having the same crashing

Question

i finally decided to upgrade skype to the latest version.
i have not tried a skype call yet as i literally just upgraded about 15 minutes ago, but i'm expecting to have similar freezing/crashing problems since loading skype is doing the same thing it was doing when i had 6.22 - start skype, click my chat or an IM to see new messages, freezes or straight up crashes right away.

this was right after i updated; it immediately crashed when i clicked my status bar to go change it. i closed it and tried again
please note the red sections - my chat had only three messages to load so i clicked the chat and it froze like you see here
FIVE full minutes later it loads the THREE messages.
if i answer the suggestions listed on your 'why does skype for windows crash my computer?' (though it doesn't crash my computer fortunately, it just bugs out on itself)
1) i have installed the latest skype version
2) my windows has updated today
3) if direct x updates with windows updates, mine should be updated but last time i was told to check, i did have the latest stuff
4) i do not have the latest drivers because i cannot upgrade them - they crash my computer, mess with the resolution and do not revert back to normal, do not take because my computer won't recognize them and they mess with my computer's ability to go to sleep - instead of 'waking up' from sleep, it's a frozen black screen and i have to hard restart each time so i just can't bother with trying to get the drivers cause they just don't work. i think this might be a possible problem when it comes to how skype's all fancy and crap now - the unnecesary blue boxes around the text are absolutely a problem. 
ya guys really need to add that as an option cause if i could just go back to the white streamline look, i probably wouldn't have any issues. if there IS a way to remove the blue boxes around the text and stuff, it'd be pretty nice to hear about it so i can actually use this program without wanting to rip my hair out every single day
5) i have no idea what compatibility mode is so i guess i don't have it as that?
6) i restarted before i updated, actually. and i'm going to restart again after i make this post
7) not having problems with my firewall
i don't manually edit system changes because i don't understand them
all the additional features i'm seeing so far on this updated one vs. the 6.22 are okay to look at but like, you know, some people can't deal with extra crap just to look pretty. the icons now being in big circles on the friends list? the continued blue boxes around the text? i don't need this. i don't want this. i just want a **bleep** program i can use that doesn't freeze more times during the day than i can count.

actually, never mind. i'm no longer interested in a fix for 7.2
i had to restore skype to 6.22 because after i made the post and restarted again, i couldn't get skype to work at all. it crashed four times in a row and the fifth time it simply froze
i decided i don't have the energy to stress myself out trying to get a crappy latest version working so i went back and have restored to 6.22
i'll still leave this post up as an example of how updating isn't necessarily the total fix, especially when there are things a person can't do to maximize the chance of getting a newer skype to work with their computer (my drivers problems; i'm absolutely not going to reinstall them myself because i don't understand drivers at all and i don't trust myself to do something like that)
if skype comes out with a simple, compact version or something then i would consider upgrading. if it worked like the old skype worked and was just a place where i could gather my friends to chat and do calls without ANY problems (i had never had a single problem with skype until these latest few versions), like 2013 skype was rebooted or something i would be all over that. skype back then was pretty great and easy to use and didn't have all this unnecessary nonsense that kills the enjoyment of using the program.
otherwise i will never update again as long as i can avoid doing so. that ~25 minutes of having 7.2 skype has completely turned me off from any future updates, especially if skype keeps going the rate it's going by adding all these fluffy things that are not needed and just slow down and disrupt anything else i'm doing.
honestly just so frustrated with this program. gotta say, i will definitely not be recommending it to anyone in the future and i'm kinda frustrated i even have to keep using it because i'm unaware of any other similar programs i could switch to.
wouldn't be surprised if skype only is relevant for a few more years till someone gets fed up and offers an more reliable, accessible program.
