Still having trouble sending mail after Yosemite software update!!

It worked for a few days after I installed the update, but it's now having the same issue all over again with outgoing mail.  Infuriating!

Hello champsanmarcos,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with outgoing in message in Mail for Yosemite. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice for the issue you are experiencing:
Mail (Yosemite): If you can’t send messages
If the Send button  is dimmed in the toolbar of your message, or your message can’t be sent using the outgoing mail server, try these suggestions.
Make sure the outgoing (SMTP) mail server is specified as directed by the provider of your email account. For more information, see Verify an account’s outgoing mail server.
If a dialog states that you need permission to send a message, your account uses parental controls. For more information, see Request permission to send messages.
Choose Window > Connection Doctor, then follow instructions displayed in the Details column.
If there’s a firewall problem, verify that firewall software isn’t blocking email traffic on port 25, 465, or 587. Also check whether you’re affected by another firewall, such as software installed separately from OS X or built into an Internet sharing router, or administered by your account provider. Contact the appropriate person for information.
You may be able to send messages from only a certain location, or your account provider may allow you to send messages but with stricter settings (such as requiring a name and password). Contact your provider, then change the outgoing mail server settings in Mail preferences as needed.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
Cheers,
BobbyD

I Have the same issue on a brand new iPad mini 2. My battery is only lasting up to 5 hours. I went on chat with Apple last night and they said my battery is fine and its a Safari issue. I'm literally losing 1% every 3-4 minutes. I tried recalibrating my battery, signing out of iCloud, shutting off all locations, turning off background app refresh, restoring network settings, restoring all, and finally restoring from iTunes with no luck. This is just awful. I got this iPad so I could use it on my long flight for a trip I have coming up, and unfortunately, it's not going to last that long, plus I'm concerned about how many times i will be recharging my battery because of this since battery's do have a life cycle dependent on the number of charges. This is frustrating and needs to be fixed ASAP and addressed by Apple.
By the way, Apple told me to bring my device to the Apple Store because it's still under warranty. That's great and all, but I'm going to waste my time if there is no fix for this issue.
Ok so you want Apple to address the problem, but yet you don't want to take it to them just in case they can't fix it? What if they can fix it? Complaining here certainly won't fix it.

  • Is anyone else having trouble sending mail?  I have a MobileMe subscription - not sure whether that is the problem.  The Port assigned to my mail account on my iMac has a different number for the one recommended by Apple, but I hesitate to change it.

Is anyone else having trouble sending mail on an iMac running 10.6.8.  I get a messsage that the server can't be accessed.  Apple help suggests using a different port from the one that was originally set.  I have a Mobile Me account.  Any suggestions?

I had major issues with the iPhone 4s battery, however it’s resolved.
The tech who set the phone up at the Apple store did so with little training.
if you have a mobile me account. First go and move all your data to the cloud by going on your computer and logging in at me.com/move. The cloud has replaced mobile me, so there is no need for those two accounts
Also make sure that for any of your email accounts you set them up to fetch, not push. My tech person set them all to have the email servers push data to the phone. The new iphone4s antenna is extremely strong so it will continually try to access stuff that is pushed–***** a lot of battery life doing this. It makes it worse if you have exchange 2010 accounts. Something about changes made to exchange really suck battery life from devices that access such accounts.
turning of locator and the push notifications from facebook--they have a lot!

  • Having trouble sending mail from iPad. It keeps freezing? Can anyone help?

I am having trouble sending mail as it keeps freezing mid send. Sometimes it takes a couple of days to suddenly send. Rest of iPad working fine. Can anyone help?

    You are welcome!
I enclose the link to show how 'this solved my question' and 'this helped me' work since there is no point in awarding either of them to yourself. As so can see, you do not get any points. It is oly a short read

  • Trouble sending emails after new security update download

I recently downloaded the newest security update from Apple on to my Macbook PRO and started having trouble sending out emails. I have to shut down my computer and restart everytime I need to send one out. It has also effected Safari and made it incredibly slow. I believe it is that update because I have also just updated my PowerBook G4 at my work and am know experiencing problems there too. I thought my troubles at home were because I had switched from Roadrunner to Verizon for my service. But I haven't changed anything at my work other than that download. Is anyone else having these problems? Does anyone have a solution to fix them?

That message said the server could not relay, right? That is one of the JavaMail FAQs. Ask the administrator of your mail server (mail.mty.itesm.mx) about it.

    Hey Lm,
It sounds like you’re unable to send emails from a specific email account in the Mail app on your Mac. The article linked below provides a lot of great information and tips that will assist in solving most issues like this.

  • Still having trouble since attempting 3.1.3 Update

Further to my reply to "_cannot update iphone 3g with new os_" (which I have included below) I have found another post which showed me the difference between Recovery mode and DFU. I've tried this but have no idea if I have been following the instructions correctly. I have no idea if the iPhone is on or off and the only time it's icon disappears from iTunes is when I press both wake/sleep & Home together, but that doesn't really follow the instructions correctly.
I just want the latest version, working. Is there a way to try and download the latest version and try again? I can't seem to find that option in iTunes. As I'm not sure if I'm following the instructions for DFU and what to do afterwards, I'm at a lost there as well.
    Help?
"I've having the same problem here and await any help.
I am running windows Vista, have the latest iTunes (9.0.3.15), and have just tried to upgrade. I did Sync before trying to upgrade so luckily I haven't lost too much, what ever happens in the end.
After my original attempt, I was told that there was an error "6" and that I needed to restore (I think, that was several hours ago and I have had further messages after) I pressed restore and a vicious cycle began. To explain, I've re-started the computer and iTunes. I have plugged in the iPhone after the re-start and received a message from iTunes saying that it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode and that it needs to be restored. I press "Ok" and the only option presented by iTunes is "Restore". I have clicked Ok and Restore several times now with the same result. ITunes talks to the iPhone, installs Software and Firmware, checks and confirms the installation, says it was successful and that the iPhone is shutting down and restarting and not to disconnect from the computer. This is where the iPhone shuts down for a little time and iTunes tells me it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode and that it will need to be restored, again. From here, the cycle starts again.
In addition to this, I have tried manually restarting and resetting the iPhone by pressing the Sleep/wake button with no luck and I have attempted to reset by pressing the sleep/wake button and the Home button as per the instructions found here in the support area.
Can anyone here help with any suggestions, or where else I can ask for help?"

Ok, I revisited Restoring while in DFU as the Iphone screen started to so the "connect to iTunes" image (This wasn't happening before so I thought I would give in another go. After eight hours of getting more frustrated, my phone is back and appears to be working again
I did take the time to save my downloaded Applications and Ringtones before I removed and reinstalled iTunes. Now that everything is working again I have copied them back into their respective folders. iTunes hasn't found them yet, so I can't reload them onto my iPhone. What file does the iTunes use to tell it what files or locations to look at. I have saved all (I think) previous files and I was hoping if I copy the old file back, iTunes will behave like it was before all of this Hoohaa. If that makes any sense

  • If you were having trouble playing mp3s after the IOS5 update - TURN OFF ZONE ALARM!

    UGH!!!
I finally found this suggestion after plowing through MANY pages and threads on here and all over the web. Someone suggested that ZoneAlarm and iTunes "clash" so I turned off my ZoneAlarm and now can FINALLY transfer mp3s to my phone without having them playback improperly. Before songs would start like 20 seconds in, then jump back to the beginning, then the middle again, despite the files being perfectly fine on my computer and also in the "music" section of iTunes (but would be faulty once transferred to my device).
This is a HUGE relief. I've been without music for over a week and it was complete ****. I had to use the Pandora app to get SOME kind of songs but compared to being able to listen to my own library, it was pretty much ****.... Just wanted to pass along this idea to anyone else who is struggling.

This is very helpful! How do I create .m4v or .mp4 vidoes that "Fast start"? Just changing the extension doesn't work -- and exporting takes time. I'd love another fast solution like this for opening and "Save As" -- that results in the MPEG-4 extensions that my users are expecting. (Yes, QT is a container format, and yes this .mov has the same media H.264 media streams, but we'd like folks to be able to drag these into itunes or similar and get them quickly on iPods.)
    Thanks!
