Still images become distorted

When I add still images to a clip, they start out playing fine, but after maybe a minute or so they change to these distorted, weird lines...not even close to the original image. Can anyone give me any suggestions?

I found another post for the same problem, and clicked on the link someone had provided...basically you just have to insert Ken burns clip before all your other clips, edit your clips and then delete the Ken burns one.

  • Still images are distorted

Having a frustrating problem... importing still images into FCE 4 and they are being distorted - the image appears to be stretched horizontally. The still images are set up as follows:
    Frame Size: 1920 x 1080
    Compressor: PNG
    Pixel Aspect: HD (1440 x 1080)
    Easy Setup:
    Format: Apple Intermediate Codec
    Use: HDV-Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i60
Frustrating part is that some of the photos work fine and others do not - despite that they are all set up the same way. Any suggestions?

Tried the square pixel setting, still distorts.
One thing I should mention, it displays fine if I do not add any motion effects. But when I do add a motion effect, the image becomes stretched (and stretching the image is not something I am trying to do). I checked all the settings that I know of and can't find any difference between the photos that work fine and those that do not. However, this is the first video I am creating with FCE 4 so I am suspecting I am overlooking something...

  • Still image becomes blurry when played in iMovie 10.0.7

I am attempting to use still images in an iMovie 10.0.7 presentation.  I have defeated the Ken Burns effect.  The clear image drops out of focus when I press play and pops back into focus when the clip ends.  Is there a fix for this?
    Thanks.

That's a feature, lowering qualiyt while editing; on final export you'll notice a much better quality ....

  • Rotated images become distorted.

    Hello,
I'm new to illustrator, as you'll probably be able to tell by my question. I'm creating a van wrap design for our company, by Monday, so time is of the essence.  When I import an image onto the design it's perfect, but when i slightly rotate the image, all the edges become serrated. Will this affect the final print? If it will affect the print what is it that I need to learn or do to change this?
    Kind Regards
    Debs

    Debs,
What Steve said, with the hopefully unnecessary addition that the final resolution should be suuitable, which may be more critical when you have a slight rotation of what would otherwise be vertical/horizontal lines.

  • After sharing, edited images become distorted.

When applying filters to images and sequently sharing them, to mail, to iphoto library, ... imege goes wrong. It looks like sharing does not work. It produces distortion.
    Anyone having same problem. Suggestions?

ok. well in my case it is not just a random problem but every edited photo comes out distorted in the same way. anyway the app is amazing. would like to use it on my project but deadline is probably closer than fixing a bug.

  • LR 3 images become distorted- elongated.

Is there any advice on what causes this to happen to some images?

Most cameras can only figure out the portrait vs. landscape when the camera body is held such that the lens is parallel to the ground. Otherwise, you get essentially random orientation readings. Most cameras have properties to control if the orientation sensor is even read and the information stuffed into the image metadata.
As for preview distortion (not in grid mode) you can try to recreate the previews from scratch and see if that solves anything. You can rename or move the "previews" directory (it should be next to the catalogue itself) and restart Lightroom, and tell it to rebuild previews.

  • Image becoming distorted when printing - smartform in CRM system

We are using CRM 5.0 and have to create a smartform for the acknowledgement of the order. The output is triggered correctly but marketing want me to include an image at the top of the page. I understand that you are only able to load tif or bmp into smart forms and indeed they are printed, however when printed the image is not very clear - looks like it is resizing.
I have tried changing the image in many different ways - and using paint shop pro for uploading the image. I have found that if using TIF the only compression option that uploads is packbits. I have saved the image with as many colours as possible and then reduced it - each time the image looks rubbish! However when I view the file (from my computer) in PSP it looks ok.
I have searched the forums for help but not really found anything that useful. Does anyone have any suggestions how to get the image to come out as expected?
The image stretches across the whole width of the page and just over 3cm deep. There are quite a few colours in the image and it is fairly busy.
Driving me mad here! anyone got any ideas? Maybe I need to install additional filters or something???

managed to get this corrected using faststone image viewer and converting images to 300 DPI.

  • Still image becomes pixelated...

    Hello all.
I have a logo that I am animating, making it increase in size as the next scene of my project comes in (the logo is in transparent lettering on a black background)
as it increases, it becomes pixelated.... (obviously) Is there any way to avoid this pixelation from happening??

How big is the logo? How big are you scaling it? There isn't much you can do if you're scaling it up. Starting with a larger logo so you don't have to scale it beyond 100% would be better.

  • Still Image distortion and washed out image quality after exporting

    Hi,
I am a relatively new Final Cut Studio 2 user I've taken a few classes and I know the basics and a little beyond. So far my projects have been coming out well until I started having to add still images to my projects. When I add these images I size down in Photoshop CS3 appropriately, usually they are really large tiffs or standard jpegs. Then when I import them into Final Cut I size them one more time to match the wire frame. When I play the movie I created in Final Cut it looks great but after I export it using compressor I either get a pixilated type of image distortion or the images are washed out, but its usually only on certain images not all images in the project are affected. My projects usually end up embedded on our website or up on youtube or bliptv, so I have been bouncing between the H.264 300Kbps for medium bandwidth streaming and H.264 800 Kbps for high bandwidth. Would someone be able to tell me if there is a better codec I should use for the web that would get rid of these problems that I am having or do I need to size my images in a different way? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    The Louse~

  • Youtube videos becoming green and still image?

I started watching some videos and after 10 minutes, what i could see was a green still image... Thought that this was not something that i should not worry about, but today it happened again! Now, i cannot watch any video.
P.S. if that helps, i tried to watch a youtube video which was on a webpage with safari. For a couple of moments, everything was fine, but soonly, it turned into a green image, the same that happens now with the youtube app!!!!

Well, First of all, some of my .PDF files started to disappear without any reason, a year or so ago, a couple of months ago the "message" started to come up everytime I tried to shut it down or re start it. Then, the YouTube videos went "green" on Internet Explorer, and then on Google Chrome too! A couple of weeks ago any video saved on my Laptop, started to go "black", the same pattern, only audio could be heard, no images. It took a little while, I mean, after turning on my Laptop, 30 minutes or 2 hours later, tops, the YT videos would turn green, after watching 2 to 6 six videos on YT. and black, on Windows Media, at the same time, whenever I tried to play any video.
Then I tried the link that I posted before. And my Laptop is getting slower after that, the display has "blinked", 1 or 2 times this past week. Internet Explorer "crashes", and I have to re-open my "session" to see my previous visited sites. I think this last part, is normal, since everytime IE fails and you have to "close the program", and then open it again, it doesn't scare me.
What does scare me is to have a virus, or mallware. I have an antivirus, McAfee Security Center. And, I don't know what else to say.
I use my laptop to record music, I have 2 programs for that, and 1 or 2 more that came with a guitar pedal and a keyboard, and I don't know if I should have just one, instead of 2 programs (DAWs) installed on my laptop, does that affect my Laptop?
    Thanks for replying.

  • Still images distort in motion 2

    hello,
I have used still images in motion 2 many time before without a problem. for some reason today when I try to use still images in motion they pixilate on me. I have tried importing psd's of 16 and 8 bit, I have tried using jpegs, and I have even tried to scale the image down before importing. any idea what might be causing this?
    Thanks Mike

oops, I opened the project in small muti media.
    sorry.

  • Using still images with Final Cut (and the apple suite in general)

I have had a re-occuring and long term problem that has caused me many lost hours of head scratching and work arounds, and as of yet I have not been able to come up with a good solution.
Its to do with integrating still images with the Final Cut suite.
If I receive a high quality image from a client to use in their video and I then try importing it into Final Cut and animating it, it always ends up looking like a pile of ahem. Often I will get "swimming" lines appear across fine detail on the image, and parts of it will flicker as it moves across the screen. For instance, if I have a picture of some blinds or other fine detail (especially horizontal and vertical lines), when I add a grow and throw movement to it the detail will become very noisy - buzzing and flickering like mad.
I have found I can counter this by resizing the image in photoshop to a resolution closer to SD video (700w or 500h) - but I always end up losing detail, and the flickering and noise is only reduced, not eliminated. Other things that have helped are blur effects applied at a very low level, like 0.5 blur, so its not noticeable visually, but Final Cut seems to treat it differently and quieten the noise and flicker down.
However, all of these workarounds are ultimately still giving a reduced quality product.
Also, this problem is not necessarily constrained to Final Cut, I am currently fighting DVD Studio Pro because it is murdering the text quality in a stills slideshow I am creating - and in this situation there is no animation being applied. No matter what file type (psd, jpeg, tiff, png...) or size I output the text and images from Photoshop in, the moment DVD studio pro gets hold of it, it turns to cripe.
For a while I was putting it down to the fact that I usually edit in SD (PAL) formats, and there just wasn't the resolution available to reproduce fine detail. However, I do often see other people achieving pin-sharp fine detail on still images and text in SD formats (the Apple templates are a good example)
So, my question to you, oh great and high boffins, if you are dealing with still images and text, how do you do it? How do you work around any noise problems you have, and how do you produce those pin-sharp images (both moving and still) I see in other professional productions?
    Quad G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

still images with too high a resolution will always cause problems. this is due to the detail of the image being finer than the scanline of the tv can display ... obviously this will caise the image to flicker as these details alternately appear and disappear as and when the scanline can display them. as you have discovered, the answer is to apply a very small blur, the effect being that the detail is spread by the blur such that the scanline can dislay it correctly.
text issues are often rooted in the same problem ... unless the text is placed very carefully (whole even number on the y axis) then the quality may be impaired due to the resulting interlacing/scanline issues

  • Getting poor still image quality in SD project on CS4

hey guys. sorry if you heard this one, but i havent seen anything addressing this.
i am using CS4 to edit a Standard def project and i am running into a problem with still images being choppy and distorted.
I tried all options to produce a better quality, but i get poor quality in the timeline monitor even after i render preview. the ouput
when i export is equally bad.
what i did find out was that if i switched projects in favor of an HD 720 the images are crisp on import and look good.
am i missing something. i assumed the images looked bad because they werent rendered and since i didnt need to render to edit i didnt want to lose the time, so now i'm stuck with those images, or i have to scrap the project and start again in hd and i prefer not to. i would have done it in hd, but the footage i was given was SD. anyways i would appreciate some help. thanks!
btw i've tried to export in both MS DV and WMV
i have tried importing psd png and jpg i have used all these in the past in pro2 with no problem

still images being choppy and distorted.
    Can we see a sample?

  • 2007 MacBook Pro Screen becomes distorted and Computer becomes unresponsive

    Hi,
I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this. This is hard to explain with words alone, but I will try: I'll be using my 2007 MacBook Pro with no problems, when all of a sudden the screen will start to flicker and the display will become distorted where everything seems like it is tapering into seperate small rectangles. If I am playing music through any application (iTunes, Safari, Ableton Live, Adobe Premiere, etc.) the music will continue to play and I can still move the mouse around but I cannot click on anything or stop the music and none of my keyboard brightness or volume commands will function. Basically it's a partial freeze. This is very troubling as it is becoming more and more frequent. I did drop my computer once a year and a half ago but have not had any trouble of this sort (or at all for that matter) until about 2 months ago, so I'm not sure if this is related. It happened to me twice before I upgraded to 10.6.4 from 10.4.11, only then it was more serious and when I rebooted afterwards it would give me that ominous gray screen with the restart logo and several languages saying I needed to shut it down. Now when it happens I can restart my computer just fine (assuming I force shut it down with the power button for 6 seconds), but sometimes when it restarts the weird screen effect I described will happen during start up and then go away once it is running again. If anyone has any idea what is causing this please let me know, this computer is very important to me, as I do 85% of my work on it. Help! Thanks!!!!
    Matt

  • Pixel dimensions for still images

    Hello all,
I have just ran into a problem that seems to be a sizing problem with Final Cut Express HD. I used to crop my still pics to 1366 px - 768 px (for landscape) and then import them to FCE and export as a quicktime movie. When I brought the quicktime movie into iDVD and created the DVD it seemed to play great on my 46" Samsung tv -- full screen.
I just recently bought a Samsung 60" and when I create the same type of movies, I am getting a huge black border around the whole image (not just top and bottom but sides too). I tried creating a new movie and made all my still images 1920px x 1080 px, and it still comes out the same way.
I can stretch my tv so that they go full screen, but I think there should be a way to create the movie without having to stretch it....just have the tv set for 16:9, and I feel that it should work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks.
    Norm

When you create a DVD, no matter what the pixel dimensions of your original material, it become 720x480 Standard Definition. This is what a DVD is. If you are creating a DVD that has material that is 16x9, then it creates a DVD that is 720x480 but plays back anamorphic, stretching to create the 16x9 screen.
If you play one of your older DVDs that played correctly on your previous TV, does it play correctly or does it also exhibit the black bars?
If it plays correctly then something has changed in the way you are creating your project in FCE.and encoding and burning the DVD.
If the older DVDs also exhibit the same playback problem, then I believe there is a menu setting on your new TV that will tell it how to display Standard Definition material from your DVD player, and you need to adjust that. (There are also settings in the set-top DVD player that tells it what kind of signal to send based on the what kind of display it is hooked up to.)
