Still images blurred when playing

I am editing a sequence of still images in FCE. The images are sharp when playhead is stopped, but show a slight blur when playhead is moving...what's causing this? How do you eliminate. The color of render line is green, btw. (i.e. doesn't need rendering).

You know...my husband and I are doing this on an 5-yr-old machine. Once we rendered it looked weird at first, then resolved itself. The exported stuff looks fine to me...so I'm not going to obsess on this. Thanks...

Why are all my still images blurred?
I am new to video editing.
I set up CS3PP to default Pal and placed the images on the time line and set to 'scale to frame" size.
I can see that the images have lost their quality in the Program Monitor screen but the images are clear in the Source Monitor screen
I viewed the images in Windows Media Player and they're blurred.
I made a test CD and the images are blurred on the TV "standard pal TV".

If your source images have a significantly greater frame size than your PAL project, then considerable loss of quality is inevitable when you convert to video. Interlacing further reduces the vertical resolution for DVD video.
That's the price you pay for using video to show stills. Maybe you should consider an alternative way to publish your stills if you want to retain quality. For example, a program like Irfan View (or one of the many others) that offer a slide show of full-resolution images on a computer screen.

  • Why do my still pictures blur when they are enlarged or moved across the screen

    Final Cut Express
Why do my still pictures blur when they are enlarged or moved across the screen?

If they look ok in pause they should be fine.
The computer may not be quite keeping up in playback.

  • Why is a still image fuzzy when being played but clear when I pause it?

I'm trying to make a video out of a collection of still images.  It is a tribute video, essentially, and I am trying to liven it up by panning and zooming documentary-style.  I've imported all the images I want to use into my media folder, and added them to my timeline.  When I hit 'play,' the images suddenly become blurry, but when i then 'pause' it, they return to being clear.  Any idea why this might be happening and what I can do to fix this?
    Thanks very much,
    Brian

  • Increase still image cache when working only with images?

I've been having hundreds of out of memory issues when working on a still image project. Thought it was solved but it hasnt.
If im working totally with still images (Jpegs, Tiffs and PSD's) should I increase the Still Image cache from its default amount? I have scoured the internet trying to find out what the Still Image Cache is but cant find an explanation anywhere.
I increased it this morning and all is well so far.....
    Might this solve my problem.

The Still image cache is the amount of RAM assigned to the playback of the stills. That's what that slider adds... it should help to make it larger when you are working with a lot of stills. They are cached to RAM instead of being read from disk...
    From the manual:
Still Cache: This specifies the amount of RAM used to hold still images for real-time playback. The still cache that is allocated is a percentage of the excess RAM allocated to Final Cut Pro, so adjusting the Application slider also adjusts the amount of RAM available to the still cache. The more RAM allocated to the still cache, the more still frames can be played back in real time in the currently selected sequence. If another sequence is opened, the contents of the still cache are replaced with stills from the new sequence. If there is no excess RAM available, this slider is dimmed.

  • Still Images degrade when exporting

Hi. I am making an audio slide show with IMovie 09, using only still images shot with a Canon 5D. The images I import to Imovie have a very high resolutition and file size(300 dpi and about 5MB compressed), yet when I export the final project, the images are degraded. I can not find anything in preferences or in the help section about why this would be happening. Any thoughts?

How did you perform the export?
I was able to get a pretty good image export by exporting to Quicktime, making a 1440x1080 (my work is 4:3) H264 file at whatever the best quality settings were, audio to big endian 48 kHz, 16 bit.
The share-to-media-browser menu option also makes an H264 file, but I believe the quality setting is lowered and in my case I could only get "Large", which was half the resolution of the settings above.

  • Still image size when importing to Premiere Pro CS3

I was wondering if someone could help me.  I do a lot of Still Image Slide shows with music and all that jazz and I used to use Premiere 6.5.  When I would import the still images I could just lock the aspect ratio and it would automatically size the picture to fit the screen.  I recently upgraded to CS3 and when I try to import a photo it imports it at actual image size so if the pic to too big it just looks zoomed in.  I'm wonder if there is a setting in I can adjust so it autosizes the pic like it did in version 6.5?  It may sound lazy but I do these with a lot of picture and I don't have time to adjust the size of each photo in Photoshop prior to import.
I have figured out a temporary workaround where I import the files into 6.5 and then open the existing project in CS3 but my new computer runs Vista and it's not allowing me to install 6.5 on it.  I would appreciate any help.
    Thanks.

I copied this from the help.
    Scale assets automatically
1 Choose Edit > Preferences > General (Windows) or Premiere Pro > Preferences > General
2 Select Default Scale To Frame Size.(Mac OS).
    3 Click OK.

  • Still images blur on playback

    hello all:
I am using Final Cut HD and I am having problems with jpgs and PSD files blurring on playback. they look fine as still... but when I press the space bar to playback they blur horribly.
I didn't used to have this problem.
A recent change to my set up is that I replaced my old, big Viewsonic computer monitor with a new Mac Cinema HD display.
Do I have to alter any of the settings?
    As usual a deadline looms.
So any advice or offers of drinks would be welcome.
    Thanks
    Adrian S

I am not using an external monitor... as the images will playback as a desktop presentation. So if they are bluring now... won't they also blur in the final presntation when to DVD ()It will be distributed as an educational project).
As I mentioned this is a new problem... i didn't used to see such a degradation of image on the computer monitor.

  • Text looks blurred when played!

Hey people, just a quickie (i hope).
I have a green (Matte) background with Blue text ontop. its a section lasting 7 seconds. When the playhead is stopped on any part of the section it looks crystal clear and exactly how I want it. However when I play it it loses focus and becomes slightly blurred!
I have tweaked the text and matte controls but it doesn't help much.
Just wondering if this is normal? Does it look fine on TV/DVD playback? Is it a RAM issue?
    Thanks
    Al

    Big Al
If it snaps into focus on pause then all is well.
The computer may not be able to display things at best quality and it sacrifices clarity to keep up frame rate during playback.
The best display option is an interlaced TV/Monitor to judge your final output rather than the computers non-interlaced monitor.

  • Still jpeg shakes when played on tv

ok so i'm using fcp and i made a freeze frame on a biker. when i export that freeze frame to the desktop, then re-import it to fcp and put it in the timeline and export to a dvd and play it on my tv, that still shakes like crazy....like it's not really still or something, wha's the matter?

Hey Brian, you know thats funny you should ask this question because I just had the same thing happen to me tonight. I have 35 still photos that I made with freeze frame , they all play within 8 seconds and they all look shaky. Whant I just did was and dont quote me on this, I double clicked on the frame in the timeline, then click on the motion tab, then scroll down to time remap, open that up, then find, frame blending, mine was checked, I just unchecked it on every clip and I'm going to burn it again, I'll let you know if it works.

  • Poor image quality when played from dvd just burned

I exported a FCP file from FCP using Compressor using several variations: uncompressed, compressed MPEG2 etc... brought the file into DVDSP and burned it to a DVD. when i play it from the dvd on my computer monitor it has these terrible lines and there are dropped frames occassionally. It doesnt look that way when I play it directly from DVDSP or from FCP only from the dvd. What is the problem here and how do I get a dvd whose quality matches the original?

All video brought into DVDSP for authoring is converted to the same format for DVDs, MPEG2.
Your "terrible lines" are probably interlacing artifacts. Look up interlacing in the manual. they always look worse on a computer monitor since that's a progressive display.
Stuttering can be caused by tons of oddball glitches, no way ot even start guessing from where I'm sitting.
but the whole process of going form FCP to DVDSP successfully is clearly and exhaustively explained in about 100 pages of the manuals and, yes, it really can be that complicated.

  • Why are my still images Blurry when applying effects?

I am creating a slideshow video using images with up to 18mp.  The images look wonderful clear and sharp until I try and add video effects to the slide, like zooming in or panning.
I am a user of both CS5.5 at work and newly acquired CS6 for home.  I like what I have been able to do, however this makes me very frustrated when everything looks good except for the images with effects.  Should I be applying effects differently?  or what?
    Thanks,

    >Didn't mean to start an argument
    = Little Devil with a Grin !!!
Stick around for awhile... there is OFTEN a good deal of "healthy discussion" (ie-disagreement) that goes on here
That discussion brings out a LOT of different experiences (you say X doesn't work... but it works just fine for "me") that sometimes, maybe even often, leads to increased and/or new knowledge for everyone
Other times, you just need to realize that what works for "me" may, or may not, work for "you" exactly the same way based on your work flow
Read what everyone offers, try what you can... and make LOTS of notes so, over time, you will develop work practices that work best for you
    Personal example...
Many people export out of PPro as MPEG2-DVD to then use Encore to author a DVD
My PERSONAL work flow is to export my AVCHD edits to Widescreen DV AVI to give to Encore... so I may use Encore's Automatic Transcoding setting to make a "best" fit of video length to size (single or dual layer) of DVD
This is because I just don't care to get into all the details of figuring out the PPro settings when exporting... I let Encore do all the math for me
That process works just fine for me... other people want to figure out their own math for the PPro export settings
I say what I do, and why, but I certainly do not TELL anyone else that they MUST do it my way

  • Got latest version installed, however still getting stuttering when playing.  Really annoying. Any suggestions?

Downloaded the latest iTunes version a couple of days ago.  I noticed it mentioned bug fixes, one of which was experiencing stuttering with imatch, which was happening.  Unfortunately it is still happening and it is really annoying.  Any ideas please?...........thank you

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with third party software.
At the time of writing iTunes 12.1.1.4 is supposed to address certain playback issues so try that first if you are on an earlier build. Also experiment with the Edit > Preferences > Playback > Play Audio Using control.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Image Blurs When Uploaded to the Web

Hi there. Recently did a banner for a friends Etsy page. The image is fine and not blurry at all until its put online. Here it is here http://www.etsy.com/shop/roseandpetal
Ive tried saving it as a JPEG and a PNG-24 in the 'save for web' part of illustrator. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hm. Sounds like you selected some bad compression in Save For Web (JPEG/Lowest, possibly?). But that still doesn't explain extreme blurryness -- it doesn't happen to me. It almost looks like you exported the image, then decided it was too small and resized it with another application.
... If you're happy with this screenshot you made, you could use it instead.
