Still images not sharp . . .

I have a sharp, still image I made with my Canon 5D. After I add it to FCE, and rendere it, it looses a great deal of sharpness, it's barely acceptable. And when mixed with my AVCHD footage, it definitely looks inferior.
when I add the same image to an iMovie project it looks great.
Is this the best I can do in FCE

I doubt the image size is 3840x22419, do you mean 2419? You can figure out the codec by clicking Command-I with the file selected outside FCE (should be JPEG, PNG, TIFF, etc). What are your sequence settings?

Image not sharp in bridge

I am really frustrated that my images look slightly blurred in bridge.
Looks sharp when I open in photoshop, but whenever I see 100% preview in bridge,
image is just not sharp!!!
* I have purged all cache and did a full extraction
* I have checked full monitor size preview
* Check with other image viewing softwares, and found no problem when viewed in 100%
* Waited until bridge loads the image for full view
Is it just me that this happens?

do you have thumbnail quality set to High Quality On Demand? do the images get sharper if you just wait a bit to render? what zoom level do you view the images at? what version of Bridge to you use?

Export length of still image not adjustable?

I'm trying to export a bunch of still images as .psd files that I will archive and use repeaedly in future projects. The files will always be 2.5 seconds when used in the future.
The problem is that the images don't want to export as 2.5 seconds.
I adjust the length to 2.5 seconds and Export As QT Conversion > Still Image > PSD. However, when I import the file is always 10 seconds.
Alternatively, I load the clip into the viewer. Adjust the time to 2.5 seconds and Export As QT Conversion > Still Image > PSD. But still the file is 10 seconds upon import.
Any ideas?
Is there a default setting somewhere I'm not seeing?

Perhaps you're overlooking the setting in your User Preferences for Still Image Duration?

Still photos not sharp

Does anybody know why my still images aren't as sharp when I pull them from my media pane to the clip viewer? The quality is excellent in the media pane but they become softened in the finished movie.

Still Images not working

I've put together a DVD in Encore, and many of the timelines are made up of at least one clip, and one still image leading into that clip. Everything looks fine in Encore, and it all writes to a disc with no trouble, but when I play the DVD some of th still images are working fine, and some aren't. Images that don't work either seem to be ignored all together, or, the still image seems to be replaced by the first frame of the clip it is in front of in the timeline. I can't find any differences between the still images that do work and the ones that don't. I've tried .png and .jpg files. Its always the same images too.
Any ideas?

Along with John's question regarding the pixel x pixel size, have you thought about doing the work with the stills in PrPro, and then just Exporting as is necessary (or using ADL)? While Encore has a limited SlideShow feature, it is designed to work better with AV files, than stills.

Image Matte Keys' still images not being memorized

I am working on an experimental video project using a lot of image matte keys. Premiere CS5 has trouble memorizing the still images in the image matte keys. The keys fail to associate with the correct images.
The images are in Jpeg format. They share the same spec (res, pixel ratio, ect) as the sequence in Premiere. All media are stored on a 2TB Lacie external hdd using esata cable connection to the pc.

It's a weird bug with JPEG images. Re-save all of your JPEGs in Photoshop, then they will always link to the correct image in your Pr project. You can create an action in Ps to do that automatically. You don't have to change the images at all, you just have to re-save them.

Exporting still image - not all effects appearing

I have created an image in Photoshop but wanted to get the shadow/lighting/depth effects from After Effects. So I imported the layers, got it all set up with lighting/different depths/shadows/etc. So now I'm going to render out a single frame so I now have a TIFF/photoshop/JPEG. I go through the steps: COMPOSITION>SAVE AS.... I get the file and every time I open up the flat file in photoshop, the shadows that were great in After Effects have now become flat black shapes.
So I lose the effects I created in After Effects....... does anyone know how to keep these when I render it out for a still image?

I have tried all different kinds of settings and rendering a still frame in Photoshop Sequence, TIFF Sequence, JPEG Sequence. The shadows just aren't appearing the same. It kept the correct light source on each of the items but the shadows just appear solid instead of blended.

Still are not sharp in my FCP project

It's been awhile since I've done this, but a year ago I made a video that had lots of still in it and they were fine, but now I'm trying to do a different project involving stills and they are very unsharp.
Is there some trick to this, in terms of format, resolution, etc.?

You're right. I forgot that "little" detail.
It makes a big difference, but is still not what you'd call tack sharp.
Is there anything else I can do to take it that final step?
Does it matter if it's a TIFF rather than a JPEG?
For some of what I'll be doing, I was considering using a PDF from an InDesign file. Is that a crazy idea or should a PDF be converted to an image file?

Thunderbolt iMac - mini-dvi to HDMI - Image not sharp on TV

I am trying to use my TV as a second monitor for my newish iMac. I used to do the same thing with my macbook (2006) with a mini-dvi to HDMI adapter. The signal then was crisp and typical of 1080p. I recently tried two different mini-displayport to hdmi adapters to output my monitor from the thunderbolt port of the iMac. The first was a cheap one and the second was a better one. Each time, the TV says the signal is 1080p, but the image is blurry, although sound does work.
The TV and the HDMI cable is the same as my old macbook which worked perfectly. Also, I have been using Windows 7 with bootcamp and the image is the same. This limits the problems to the graphics output, port, or adapter. As multiple adapters still have issues, I don't know it anything else may help it.
Is there much possibility that there is something with the computer, either graphics card or port itself, that could cause this, or maybe something software wise that could be an issue?

Check under the system settings to make sure you are putting out the correct signal. If it is set at the correct resolution then your TV doesn't have enough Hz. Hope that helps!

Still Images not changing and title cards doing same.

If i was to add 5 images into i movie and hit play when the image is meant to change it doesnt, it changes on the clip after the one is is meant to. Title cards do the same.
Its like some where to clip is being told to run for longer than i can see!

Images are not sharp as before.

I have been using Aperture for some time.
But recently images are soft-not sharp. All.
Adjustments 1.5 sharpeness to 1. radius. Still not there.
The only way they get better is by adding edge sharpening.
I did not have to do this before.Problem started about the first of May.

Here is what I discovered-Control:
Tests: D-200 and D-70. JPEG Fine setting. Need to try w/RAW.
Softwares on iMac G5. Aperture & iPhoto.
PC Photoshop Album Starter 3.2
Results:
No significant difference between D-200 and D-70 regarding sharpness.Better resolution w/D-200.
Color accuracy best with Aperture.
But regarding sharpness,which is my issue, this is what I found.
The PC print was the best which I do not beleive has edge sharpening,
maybe it's built into Photoshop/Album 3.2
However I can match the sharpness of the PC print in Aperture only
with edge sharpening.
As mentioned before I haven't had to use Edge Sharpening until now.
Is edge sharpening a destructive issue or is edge sharpening just an everyday
use.
Or is there an issue with my iMac?

Sharpness of still images into iMovie

I have used iMovie for two years, thought I had encountered all the bugs. However, I am now having an issue with the sharpness of still images from iphoto to iMovie. I use a lot of still images in presentations and for some reason any current photos which are loaded into iMovie are blurry and not near the same clarity as viewed in iphoto. This has never happened before! Any assistance would be appreciated.. thank you

However, I have uploaded thousands of photos from iphoto to imovie in the last two years, all various megapixels. This is a new occurrence, clarity is blurred or not sharp when uploaded photos are viewed in the Photos screen in iMovie and then applied to the timeline. Once in the timeline, the resolution of the photo is not nearly as sharp. Hope this makes sense.....

Photoshop to pdf creates text and images that are not sharp. Why?

I know that Photoshop is not the premier pdf creation software. I do have InDesign as well, but I'm much more familiar and comfortable with Photoshop (I have the CC versions of both) so I prefer to use it as my design and layout tool.
However, when I save as a pdf the resultant pdf file is blurry for images and text, not horribly so, but not sharp and clear as I would like. My pdf files are for the web and emailing so I need to keep the file size in check, but even when I up the PS resolution to 300psi it still is not as clear as I would like. Still blurry.
What do you Photoshop experts out there do to produce the sharpest pdf possible? Is it even possible using Photoshop only or do you have to use InDesign or Acrobat Pro to get the clarity and shapness?

It works, sort of. But the results will never be as good. And you wouldn't want to use the screwdriver with nails, either. There are two different tool (programs) for a reason, and I think once you learn InDesign, you will find it to be a much better layout tool than Photoshop.

I get an error message that says library not loaded and the reason is image not fund. I have reloaded IDVD and also done an update but still have the same problem. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?

Did you delete all receipts with iDVD in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/ folder before installing the new copy? If not then do so and delete the new application also.
