Still Kind of a Problem with Jaguar....

I have a Powerbook G3 Wallstreet running OS 9.2. It's alright, but until I try installing Tiger, I'd kinda like to get 10.2 working again. It did work previously, however when I have recently tried installing it, (the 2-disc version) it runs the first disc, and installs everything fine. When it restarts, (normally where I would insert disc two) It gets to the white Apple logo screen, but instead of the spinning cursor two bars of static come across the screen, the hard drive goes idle, and the disc is not read.

I can think of only one logical explanation for your problems, and I do hope it is the case...your 128MB module. I realize you have already run Jaguar in the past with the same configuration, but OSX is much more sensitive to marginal RAM than is 9.x. Possibly the 128 has degraded to the point where loading the whole OSX and not just the CD has become too demanding.
Well, if you really want Dashboard, then Tiger it is. When installed with XPostFacto, the 9.x and 10.x Startup Disk control panels no longer work; you use XPostFacto to switch between OSes. I cannot recall what you have, but you will need Tiger CDs if you do not have a DVD-ROM drive or you will have to remove the HD from the Wallstreet and install Tiger from another computer. Ideally you will have a FireWire HD enclosure for your HD.

However, the 256MB modules are special to the early iMac, Wallstreet, and Lombard because of the Grackle memory controller. The 128MB and smaller can be generic if they meet specs. You need a low-profile for the bottom (lower) slot and standard height for the top.

To install: Remove all power > lift off the keyboard and lay it face down on the palm rest...no need to disconnect ribbon cables > remove the aluminum heat sink > remove the top memory module > remove the HD > carefully lift out the microprocessor card and turn it over > remove the lower module.
I believe the HD has to come out so the microprocessor card can be lifted out but I cannot recall. You'll be able to tell when you reach that point.
Use the proper Phillips screwdriver #0 so you do not strip the screw heads and use proper anti-static procedures.

I would buy a 256MB module now before you buy Tiger so you can remove your 128MB and see if the new memory solves the problem of installing Jaguar. If not, I don't know what else to suggest except trying different Jag CDs.

Operating system Windows 7. A few days ago no problems with audio, clear sound when listening to e-mail audio attachments and Amazon music samplers. During last 2/3 days both attachments and samplers fail to work, but when playing music from library held in Windows Media Player no problems. Yes I have removed and reinstalled WMP.
I had good results with the PD6 application installed on the default path onto the C: drive with the one exception that if the application was launched by accident and the user data path was not available, the PD6 application would blow away my custom user path registry settings. Now that I know what they are I have made a .reg file to repair my registry to my desired user data paths.
Installing the application on the removable drive appeared to help prevent me from launching the application by accident and overwriting my registry with default user paths.
So which is the less of the two evils?
If the application directory is not available, windows media player still tries to launch the .msi for installing PD6.
If I install the application to the C: drive but the user data to the removable drive, launching the PD6 application without the user data drive will still corrupt my registry settings for a user data path.
Both these issues seem like a logical (if not easy) fix that should be done in the PD6 application and installation package. I mean really, cannot anyone tell me why windows media player is checking the PD6 application directory? Why in PD4 did we have an option control for setting the user data path from the PD4 application? Why is this option not in the PD6 application, just the installer?
I am given a choice during installation to move the user data to another non default location. Why else would this be provided if not to accommodate my kind of request to store the user data into an alternate location other than “My Document”. Certainly Palm is not trying to force the users on how to protect and store their personal data?

I am still having LR4.2 problems with app crash when launching plusloading images 'losing the source

this has another thread, but some of the entries are older.. so I am asking again. I entered this information last night.
I am having intermittent app crashes on booting lightroom4.2. It happens whether I just open it, or if I import pictures. the second try is usually successful.
Also, lightroom 'loses the source' while importing images. After all the thumbnails load, it loses the source.    This was a problem previously only with selecting images to import, nwt it happens all the time on import.

wellllll. its been ages and nobody ever offered a solution. i was ready to tear my hair out with computer crashes and other issues...after the update to LR 4.3 a lot of my problems ended abruptly, but i still have the lost source issues occasionally.

I've downloaded newer Bios update but it's 13 MB... it's obvious that I can not have
in floppy disk and I'm a little bit uncomfortable of updating bios from CD-rom .
But what else can I do, besides updating Bios to get out of this Live update from start-up.

Still Having Problems With Applets!!!!

First i'd like to thank all who responded to my last post regarding a downloadable copy of the J2SE API Documentation. I have downloaded it and am quite content.
I am still, however having a problem with my applets (all applets at that). Like i said before. I can view any applets i want through the command prompt using appletviewer. My problem is residing in execution directly through Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x.
When i open the .html file containing my applet, the file loads in the browser but the applet does nothing. When i mouseover the applet a message is displayed in the browser's status bar stating "loading class. classname: class not found".
I have tried every applet i can get my hands on including downloaded applets from applet resource sites (even the example applets that came with the JDK1.4 when i downloaded it). They all react the same way, but will execute fine with the direct command prompt reference to appletviewer.
It's getting very irritating. I have tries everything including setting the classpath in the command prompt. I'm loosing hope of a solution so if anyone might have an idea of what i need to do to fix my problem, or anything i am doing wrong or haven't done, please give me a hint or help.
I am loving the java language and wish to further my knowledge and farmiliarity with it but i need to make sure everything works.

1. Check the codebase parameter in the html file that calls the applet
for example if you have an applet named MyApplet.class inside a directory applets and your html file outside that directory you should have a codebase like this "applets/".

Multicolumn report: problem with continuous section breaks

Hi All,
There is a need to create RTF template which consists of 3 logical parts:
(1) Static text -> some kind of header information;
(2) Multicolumn (2 columns) text -> contract terms;
(3) Static text -> information about signers;
Here is a small screenshot as an example:

The problem is that MS Word will place continuous section breaks before and after multicolumn part. And BI Publisher will transform these section breaks into page breaks. As a result each of 3 parts will be on its own page.
Does anyone have a solution or workaround to avoid such behavior?
Or can advice anything?

P.S. Partly solution is to put the 1st part into page header. In this case MS Word won’t place continuous section break before multicolumn part. But still there is a problem with the 3rd part as it will go to separate page :(

I've already tried such approach and unfortunately it didn't work.
If there is only "2 column" text in main template with the subtemplate calls before and after text, then text from subtemplates is appended to 2 column text and also formated as "2 column" text.
Here is an example files: URL was removed
XML file is empty as at this moment it is not important.
Purpose is to get all 3 sections without page breaks.
Section 2 can be 2-3 pages big.

Uploading problem with Ebay and Dreamweaver MX

I am unable to sync websites with Dreamweaver MX 6.01. When I connect to the remote server, it shuts down the program. I have reinstalled the program, but it still does it. Also, when I use Safari, Opera, and Firefox to upload photos on Ebay, the upload process fails completely, and blows me directly into My Ebay, as if I was not on the selling page at all. I have to go to my PC to do the photo uploads. Seems like it may be a related issue, some kind of uploading problem with Rosetta, or something. I am using a Macbook Pro with the 2.0Ghz processor, connected with ethernet cable, and firewall is set to off. Any ideas?

PROBLEM WITH ALT-V WHEN USING CROATIAN KEYBOARD

When Typing ALT GR+V (@ sign) in Croatian Keyboard, all the text from clipboard is copied into the text box (as it is pressed CTRL+V) plus the @sign.
There were some bugs filed long back regarding a similar issue for the German keyboard where the customer was using the AltGr key for special characters, same as in our case.
Below is the list of those bugs:

I have gone through the descriptions and mail chains mentioned in these bugs, and it seems that the issue was fixed in OJDK.
Please go through the above mentioned bugs once to get more details.
It seems that this is not ORMS issue. It seems to be an Oracle Forms or OJDK issue.
Can someone please advise on this as why is this happening. We are using Oracle Forms 10g.

After upgrading I wasn't able to do special characters, including some accented vocals, like "ì", very common in italian language.
Then I've added an english keyboard, removed the italian one and added it again, so the problem with missing accented vocals was solved.
I still have the same problem with special consonants, like "z" and "c": if I hold my thumb on such letters, I have no options like, say, "ż" (such characters are very important for my field (linguistics) and if Apple won't solve this problem I'll be forced to look elsewhere).

Problems with Nvidia GeForce 210 and windows 8.1

A problem with ArrayLists

Hello
I'm pretty new to Java, and sometimes all those objects, instances, classes, data types etc confuse me. I'm having some kind of a problem with ArrayLists (tried with vectors too, didn't work) . I'm writing a program which takes float numbers from user input and does stuff to them. No syntax error in my code, but I get a java.lang.ClassCastException when I run it.
I insert stuff to the ArrayList like this:
luku.add(new Float(syotettyLuku));no problem
I'm trying to access information from the list like this inside a while loop
float lukui = new Float((String)luku.get(i)) .floatValue();but the exception comes when the programme hits that line, no matter which value i has.
Tried this too, said that types are incompatible:

have been Float with a capital F.
From what I understand, Float refers to the Float
class, Correct. And float refers to the float primitive type. Objects and primitives are not interchangeable. You need to take explicit steps to convert between them. Although, in 1.5/5.0, autoboxing/unboxing hide some of this for you.
so why isn't just a regular float datatype
doing the job here, like with the variable lukui?Not entirely sure what you're asking.
Collections take objects, not primitives, and since you put an object in, you get an object out. You then have to take the extra step to get a primitive representation of that object. You can't just cast between objects and primitives.
Again, autoboxing will relieve some of this drudgery. I haven't used it myself yet, so I can't comment on how good or bad it is.

Problem with Twitter

Are any other BT users having trouble using Twitter? This is what I now get. I've done a power cycle on the hub - no difference. I've tried using another PC on a different ISP and different phone line which works fine. I also tried my laptop which is connected wirelessly to my hub and it's the same - the blue screen shown below. There is no McAfee software on my PC or laptop. Is there an issue with BT's server(s) that is partly blocking Twitter? It was fine until earlier today.

There still appears to be problems with it. :/

Anyone know what is going on, or know the best way to contact BT to let them know that there is a problem?

Problem with treo 750 microphone

I need to active my microphone speaker to hear and speak with my correspondant and I got an x above my microphone icon.

You can try a hard reset to resolve this issue. A hard reset will erase all data on the device and restore settings back to default. For further information and instructions on resets please visit kb.palm.com and look up article number 43146 in the Solution I.D. search field.
Once a hard reset has been completed successfully and the device is restored, see if you are still experiencing the same problems with the microphone. If the problems still exsists you have a hardware issue and you will want to seek repair or replacement methods.

Unknown problem with the mbp

Sorry for the long story but please i need some answers.

Hello everyone,
I've bought my mbp 19 months ago. After 3 months story started.When i bought it people were complaining about battery life screen issues and stuff.I was lucky about it. i didnt had problem. Then i had a kernel panic on screen and as intructions said i had to force shutdown via power button then it didnt, computer locked up colorful pixels showed up and the problem is i had full battery.i waited until battery ran out ( 11 hours ) and noticed that cpu was heating then cooling heating and cooling randomly. then it started to heat heat heat and i realised that it was over heating.i grabbed a cooling pad and cooled my lappy down from 110 to down to 20. ( i got a little accessory for cooking thats how i mesured. ) well 11 hours passed and battery was fully discharged that even battery indicator lights wasn't turning on.I plugged the charger fully charged and boot. Dang ! 1st thing i've noticed that SIL (Status indicator Light) wasn't looking good.the left sight was bright and it was getting dimmer to the left. In morning i took it to the service , said what i have experienced but they were unable to find problem.After a while laptop was runing nice no issues nothing. 1 day i put my laptop on charge with it was off. after a while when i came back touched my laptop i got shocked and charger light turned it self off.( it was fully charged and it was on table no static electric) then i boot laptop. SIL turned up DVD rom tested it (screen is still black ) i heard the sound then it restarted it self before the screen came up.then laptop turned on after 3 minutes. i did a restarted and i noticed that dvd was checking it self very slowly ( like a casette player with low battery ) and mbp turned it self off. i took it to the service again and it was ok ! mbp was working really good without issues.Time passed one day i booted screen came up and it did a pram reset it self all dates and stuff were gone. i did all settings and restarted and again !. after few restarts all the settings came back to normal.for a while with a double restart issue ( when i boot it restarts twice before the grey screen comes.Then it became okey. 1st 3 months its okey then other 4 months i had these problems. Then i had a wireless device issue ( it fixed it self ) at the other hand. When i watch a video from youtube, video freezes onces at a time ( 10 sec ). When i watch movie it freezes same no metter resolution is. Then i noticed that i have the same freeze when i use flash application or java, or when i play flash games it freezes. When i play a fps game like CS:S or COD or any. after 5 min fps drops from 60 to 15-14 with a mouse lag and a keyboard lag. After a while i decided to get a SSD in this baby and have a good performance and battery life. i've got a Corsair SSD Force GT 120GB Sata 3 ( got sata 3 for future ) and installed lion. well laptop was working awsome it wasnt overheating eihter. but i still have the same problem with freezes and fps lags. and i fear that overheat at kernel panic freeze damaged a core.Also when service opened up case to install SSD in it we noticed something near battery look at the picture.

Open the Energy Saver pane of System Preferences and set the computer(not display) so that it won't sleep, optionally using the Schedule button for a delayed sleep or shutdown.

Problems with the Z1

Hi Everyone, Ive had my z1 since around it launched but there are still a bunch of problems with it i wondered if anyone had the same issues susch,
. Lock screen flickering,
. volume buttons on headphones/earphones not working,.
. music sometimes pauses randomly and starts again (usually when unlocking the phone)
. Battery life lasts for around 12 hours when having location services on or less if using any "intensive" apps.
. some contacts disapearing in contacts list but if you get a phone call or text from them it shows the persons name.
Ive switched from an iphone which i had for almost 4 years to this and ive never had these problems with it, Also this is my first android device so i dont know if some of the problems are android related.
Does anyone kow if there is an update coming out?

Sorry to hear about the issues you're having.
I recommend that you first try updating the software in your phone and see if that helps. You can update it using PC Companion or Bridge for Mac: http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/software/computer-software/.
In the first software there was for example an issue with using the buttons on a headset.
If you still have problems after updating the phone, try it in safe mode to make sure that the problems are not caused by an app you installed. See this thread for information on safe mode: http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/FAQ/How-to-boot-your-phone-into-safe-mode/m-p/348008.
If you can't see all contacts, open contacts, tap menu (3 dots) and select Filter. Here you can set what contacts that should be displayed.
