Still making noises

My macbook pro that i purchased May of this year is still making that annoying high pitched noise. I turn on the photobooth to get rid of it but is there another way?

Yes it is covered by apple care.

  • HP DV7 4020sa Fan Noise - Cleaned and still making noise

    Hi.
    I need help with my laptop. It's a DV7 4020sa.
Ever since I purchased the laptop (used) the fan has made a horrible whining sound. I decided to fix it today so dissambled the laptop and gave the fan a good clean, and also put some wd40 on the fan spindle.
Unfotunately after reassembling, the fan still makes the noise. It strange because if i pull the screen/lid slightly towards me it stops the noise, and also if I apply pressure on the underside on the base where the fan is located.
Should I buy a new/refurbished fan to replace it or is there some fix i can apply myself?
    Thanks in advance

    You're very welcome.
That is great news, and it was way less than a new one.

  • My iphone 4 is not wanting to light up at all ,making noise when getting calls etc. what could be the problem?

I was trying to figure out why there was a cricle with a lock image in it on the top of my phone , so i was going through settings and couldnt find anything that was out of ordinary .so then i was trying to make room for a software update. The only thing i changed was was putting the little on screen help button. Then phone frozen after i was going through settings again to figure out the cricle and lock image on my home page. Then after a cetain amount of time, When screen time went out it wouldnt let me turn back on screen. But it will make noises from calls and texts and ect still when they come in. But it will not light up when calls or texts come through or notifications. It wont light up when i try to unlock it and or change the volume settings. My screen is blank and black but is still making sounds as if it was still on and working with no picture. Front camera still takes pictures when you hold down top and middle buttons but still not image on screen. Is there any suggestions that i can do myself or do you think i need to take it in myself to have it fixed?
    Thank you so much,

A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off buttons for approximately 15-20 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons.

  • IMac from 2009. Suddenly making noise like a loud fan.

My IMac from 2009 is suddenly making noise like a very loud fan, or a little like a vacuum cleaner. The sound seems to becoming from the IMac, not my speakers.  Could this be from any of the wires or connections plugged into it?  Restarting the computer did not stop this. I think this happened once before a long time ago. Anything I can do?

Before I saw Mike Sombrio's post:
I restarted the IMac without unplugging the power cord, but the noise was still there when the IMac came back on.  Then I repeated this about 10 minutes later, (restarting the computer without unplugging the power cord). This time the noise was no longer there. I don't know what's going on. I hope this problem does not return. Any explanations? Is this a sign that my IMac is having serious problems? Any advice?

  • Mac book pro making noise,we deleted most programs noise persists

Mac book pro has been making noise for some time,we deleted many programs that might affect it.Still problematic.Thoughts?

Noise makers on a MBP are the fan(s), hard drive and DVD drive.  Run an Apple hardware test and see if it picks up any problems:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1509
Open the MBP and see if there is and dirt or debris inside, particularly in the fans.  If so, clean it out.
If no success on the afore mentioned, make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar for a free evaluation.
    Ciao.

  • MBP running slowly, making noise

    Hi,
Over the last few weeks I've noticed that my MacBook Pro is running considerably more slowly than usual, that it's making noises (the kind of noise that computers make when they're working really hard...I don't know how else to describe it) a lot of the time, even when i have only safari running, and that safari has been "unexpectedly shutting down" fairly often.
additionally, applications take far longer than usual to quit when i press apple-Q, with the little multi-colored pinwheel spinning for about 5-10 seconds before the app quits. i also get the little pinwheel fairly often just when doing everyday tasks.
any ideas on what's wrong or what i can do to fix this?
    thanks!

It sounds like your hard drive may be failing. I had a similar experience with an older powerbook a few years back. The HD was making some very loud crunching noises, and the apps would take forever to load. When I tried to Disk Utility to fix it, it didn't do the trick but kept telling me there were some errors on the drive.
With regards to your disk utility being grayed out - were you booting off the leopard DVD? That's the only way you can have the utility fix your boot drive, hence why it may be grayed out at the time you tried it. Try booting off the DVD that came with leopard and then selecting the Disk Utility from one of the pull-down menus.
I'd still talk to apple support ( either the store or via a phone call ) and tell them what is happening. They will probably have you send the machine in and do a replacement of your HD. Make sure you backup before you send out as if they replace the drive, they will not copy your data for you.
    Hope that helps!
    Cheers

  • IMac making noises.

My imac recently started making a fan noise upon start up that with time can (not always) increase in sound level which = my concern and irritation.  I have downloaded the widget that monitors the temps and fan speed with the following results:
    HD: Mac = 94 degrees F
    CPU = 92                        Optical Drive = 697 rpm
    Heatsink = 94                  HD = 1189 rpm
    Airport Card = 94              CPU = 1198 rpm
    Ambient = 67
    GPU = 112
    GPU Diode = 108
    GPU Heatsink = 104
In addition I have also done a shut down and unplugged everything for >30 seconds but still the noise returns immediately upon startup.  The computer is not operating poorly, just the noise.  Any ideas, suggestions?  Thank you!

It MIGHT, just MIGHT, be a software issue. On my iMac G5, if I start up holding down the Option key, I get a loud fan noise all the while, from when it starts looking for drives with an OS on them, up until partway through the launch process after I select an OS. That's obviously a software cause, as it's the same routine that cuases the fan to start then stop, every time.
While there is a odd possibility of it being a sw issue, what your are describing is not.
What you are describing is a safety feature. When you are booted to the hardware or test disc (rather than a full system install) the system runs in a very limited mode. Often it does not see or read the data from the temperature sensors. So, what happens is the code on the board is designed to run the fans at a fixed speed that is higher than normal to prevent the system from overheating. An Xserve sitting on a bench running HW tests, with the back end pointed at a cork board, will cause papers to hang upside down the fans run so hard!

  • Screen making noises and hairline crack... Help?!

I have an iPhone 6... On Monday when I touched my screen, I noticed that it was making noise when I pushed down on it on the left side of the screen. I immediately booked an appointment for this Saturday to get to a genius bar to get the phone looked at. I had this issue before with an iPhone 5S and the phone got replaced because I was told that they could not replace the screen as it would damage the finger print sensor. However today my phone has suddenly developed a hairline crack at the top of the screen over the front camera. I haven't dropped it or smashed it against anything. I have a screen protector on the phone and a case which confused me a little. I have my appointment with Apple tomorrow and I'm wondering what will happen. I'm more worried about the crack if anything! There is no other damage on the phone as I've had a screen protector and case on it from day one. Also the phone is still functioning as it always has. Any ideas anyone?

Since you've confirmed the device has physical damage, and since physical damage is not covered under the Apple hardware warranty, be prepared to pay either a $109 USD + tax fee to replace the screen or a $299 USD + tax out-of-warranty fee for whole unit replacement, depending on the results of Apple's inspection and the decision made by the Apple Store.  You may get free service, but set your expectations to pay because of the physical damage, so that if you are given a better option, it is a pleasant surprise.
By the book, a damaged device, regardless of how it is damaged, involves some form of out-of-warranty cost, unless you have AppleCare Plus.  In that case, you usually pay a deductible of $79 USD + tax.

My Aperture 2.1 has gone into a continual thumbnail mode.  I left the computer, a MacBook Pro, run all night, about 12 hours and it is still making thumbnails.  I tried reloading Aperture 2.1, but that did not change anything.  I have also turned the system off, for a period of time, and then turning it back on, when I click on Aperture, it comes up and locks in the thumbnail mode.  I can view my stored pictures, even modify them, but it still says thumbnails.
I got in this mode by trying to import "one jpeg photo", from a scanned slide using a Nikon Scan4 IS5000ED scanner.  I had saved the scan to my  desktop before I tried to import it.

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • Printer keeps coming on and off and making noises by itself

I can go for days without using the HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw but it keeps making noises.
If its supposed to save energy, why is it doing anything at all until I click "print" ???????

Thank you I was using the LCD.  However, I have the IP address open now, I'm under System/Print Quality and the choices are:
After Power On - Off thru 60 mins
Calibration Timing - Off thru 168 hrs
    Calibrate Now - check box
Maybe, when they gave me new Firmware it chaned the options?
Thanks for the heads up about the IP route because that's a lot better than the LCD way.

  • Fan issue making noise and heating issue

    Hi,
My laptop fan is making noise like a car engine.Earliar i did nott realize it but since winters are here i can hear it clearly coz ciealing fan is not under use now. Also my laptop is quite heated below.I have read that dust can accumulate in vents but i cant see any. Also my previous laptop got killed becoz of this same issue.Hp should do something about it.Can a layman like me open the dv-4 version and clean the fan? It is out of warranty now and i dont want to spend on shop. But i saw a video HP laptops are complicated to open....and close.Watevr other advice u r most welcome to give regarding yhis issue.
    thanks

HP notebooks tend to run hot & thermal control is minimal effort in design & materials.
You can try clening with compressed air or a hoover perhaps but if looks clean & air sems to be flowing I expect it not the main issue.
You may also want to check running processes & CPU use as issues here & viruses can causes CPU load thus heat.
Also review notebook placed so vents are not blocked/restricted.
Use software such as HWinfo to review the actual temps of CPU GPU etc as helps see how much of an issue you really have.
HP laptops can be improved with thermal shims, ceramique paste, housing vent modifications & in extreme cases secondary case venting 25>30mm fan.
Not easy to do without some experience.

  • Laptop's Fan Making noise when i use flash

I am passionate about playing games online, Not that i care about whether or not my computer gets cracked or not, but i am curious now, I want to know why fan of my laptop start making noises and run faster then usual whenever i play games for more than half an hour. I mostly like [various links removed by moderator] and many others.  I just want to know why it happens plus if it can be fixed that would be great.

I've never heard anything from my trackpad save 'clicks' - and I don't recall anyone else coming here with that problem, either.
Since it sounds (no pun intended) like a hardware problem, if I were you I would take advantage of your remaining warranty and take the machine to your local Apple Store or an AASP and have them take a look at it. Could be a swollen battery, a bad trackpad, whatever.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • Superdrive making noises

My superdrive has started making noises as if it's ejecting a disc. The problem is that there's no disc in. I'm just browsing online and it will randomly make this noise. Anyone have any ideas on what the issue could be? Thanks in advance for any help.

I have also been having this problem recently. It's notable since I've had the machine for about a year and the noise has only appeared in the past couple weeks (I think only since I updated to Snow Leopard). I would also appreciate any suggestions.
