Still need .mix File Format Support from Microsoft PictureIt

My many files in the .MIX format will die unless Adobe can reverse engineer a conversion.  I have a ton I would like to batch convert to .jpg or .dng.  Can you help, I am using a Mac and want to jetison my Windows machine.  Lots of folks grouse on the net forums who are stranded the same way.

Advice for the future: If you intend on archiving images, do not choose a closed format that  only one application can read.
Even with the resources Adobe has, they do not have the legal ability to reverse engineer another's proprietary file format. If this was even remotely possible, I'd suggest that you visit Adobe's feature request web page.
If you want to be forever done with "anti-virus nonsense" then you may not want Mac either. Apple recommends anti-virus software in this document and even includes some very limited antivirus capabilities in Snow Leopard.

  • Help needed with File Formats (Save As...)

Somewhere upgrading versions of Photoshop (Mac), some old File Formats have remained. The result is that I cannot properly select a File Format to Save As... except the native PSD format. Others have to be selected by selecting a format below the one on the list, meaning that I cannot select TIFF because there are no formats below this one. (Accepted formats http://help.adobe.com/en_US/photoshop/cs/using/WSfd1234e1c4b69f30ea53e41001031ab64-7758a.h tml#WSfd1234e1c4b69f30ea53e41001031ab64-7754a)
I've looked in the Plugins folder and there are no strange file formats there. I checked Library>Application Support>Adobe>Plug-Ins but nothing there. I've tried searching the entire hard drive for Compuserve GIF (one of the offending file formats) but nothing matches.
I give up trying to figure out where some of the problem plugins are located. As you can see from the image below, selecting Multi-Picture Format actually will save it as a jpg. From reading Adobe's formats, I think CompuServe GIF is causing part of the problem. I don't know what other one.
Or it may be that I just need to reset something so all formats are properly recognized. Can anyone help?

    Curt,
That is great information. Unfortunately I've already checked the preferences and do not have an additional plugin folder specified.
Suppossedly, according to the information from Adobe, the only place plugins should be loaded is in the Photoshop > Plug-Ins folder, or possibly Library>Application Support>Adobe>Plug-Ins (according to the link you provided). There is nothing there.
When I look at Photoshop > About Plug-ins I see that, for example, there are two (2) versions of CompuServe GIF format. Obviously one is old from a previous install/update, but I cannot find it anywhere. If I could find it, I could remove it. I suspect that is one of the conflicts causing my problem, but I see no way in Preferences to remove a plug-in. The link you gave says to move it outside the folder, but it presupposes you can even find the offending plug-in, which I cannot.

  • File Formats Supported

Two HP Pavilion laptops, a dv4 and a dv5, Windows 7 Professional, no changes or upgrades other than the normal Windows updates. On both HP laptops, the CD-ROM does not recognize various file formats such as JPEG, JPG, WAV, etc. The dv5 did recognize a CD-ROM with JPEG files yesterday, but it does not read the CD today. It does read new music CDs, but not previously recorded CD with MP3 or JPG formats.

    Its iPod. Not iPot.
    iPod supports the following formats.
Audio Support: AAC (16 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Music Store), MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3 and 4), Apple Lossless, WAV, AIFF
Photos Support: Syncs iPod-viewable photos in JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF, PSD (Mac only) and PNG formats
Video Support: H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 mbps, 480 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats

  • What happened to TGA/Targa file format support?

Tonight I tried to import some old scans of photos—I'm cleaning up my files and organizing. Well, back in the day (1993 or so) the scanning system I worked on used Targa (.tga) as its output format. So I have a number of them.
When I tried to import them into Aperture, it would not accept them. I tried to drag and drop and do a manual import. On the manual import, the thumbnails wouldn't even appear.
I get that Targa is not a common file format these days, and I don't see Targa in the list of supported file formats for Aperture 3, but what happened? TGA is in the list of supported file formats for Aperture 2.
I'm a little concerned about having to convert all my Targas to TIFFs, but that's not the end of the world. What frightens me is: how many files did Aperture just throw away when I converted my library from Aperture 2 to Aperture 3? I don't know whether I imported any of my old Targas before upgrading to Aperture 3, but if I did, are they now gone?

I seriously doubt they were deleted. Open up the library package folder then search for .tga within that folder.

  • AFP file format support

Hi, I'm looking for information about afp file format and WebCenter Content.
Does anybody worked with this file format using WebCenter Content? How WebCenter use the features regarding intra document indexing?
    Thanks in advance.
    Jorge

    Hi Jorge ,
AFP file format is listed as a support one for WCC , it is seen from Configuration Manager - Options - File format . So , now depending on your requirement it could be set up for conversion or anything like that .
    Thanks,

  • Mixed file formats in timeline not always playing nice.

Im using the latest version of premiere pro cc, and one of the great things about PP CC is that you can drop any file format in the timeline without trancoding it right? BUT! sometimes it doesn't play well when you add effects or titles, or adjustment layers. Lets say I have a 1080 DSLR timeline and I have a mix of H.264,ProRes and MP4 footage. When the footage is in the timeline with no effects, the playback is fine, but when I add a transition, a title or a adjustment layer over the footage, when it plays over that section, the footage sometimes stutters, or plays choppy. The footage will pause for a few frames an then continues, BUT only does this when effects are applied. Its behaves as if there is not enough frames to accommodate the transition or effect, which is not the case. But if I delete the clip and drop it into the timeline again in the same spot or I adjust the length of the transition the clip will play with no issues. Why is this happening? And yes ALL footage is rendered and I have powerful enough system to handle the work. Such simple effects should not affect timeline playback.

Hey Jim, with all do respect the symtoms may suggest that, as you stated but I know I have a powerful enough system. Im running a 8 core mac pro, 22gig ram,SSD drives and Radeon 5770 card. I have edited RED footage and Canon C500 footage with dynamic linked After effects on my system with no issues. So im certian its not my system.

  • Windows Server 2008 End Of Support from Microsoft

    Hi Team,
We are planning to user windows server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition for our application servers hosting. Before we install, would like to know when the support for 2008 ends from Microsoft
Please let me know your comments and also provide any reference links
    Thanks//Gopi

    Hi,
Did you talked about Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 or Windows Server 2008 SP2?
Support ends 24 months after the next service pack releases or at the end of the product's support lifecycle, whichever comes first.
Accordig to the message above, mainstream support of Window 2008 R2 product family will be ended on 13/1/2015, and there is no new service pack released, then 2008 R2 SP1 support will also end on 13/1/2015 since when support for a product ends, support of
all the service packs for that product will also end.
Besides, you can also check the Service Pack Lifecycle Support Policy below:
    http://support2.microsoft.com/lifecycle/default.aspx?LN=en-us&x=15&y=18

  • .xls file format - downloaded from Gmail, can't open in numbers

I tried to open it using a 3rd party "conversion" program called icExcel.app which i found on the web. I saved the file as Appleworks 6 which is the file format the program offered which Numbers would open -- but it didn't work. Any experience? I don't know what version of .xls in office the file was saved in.

    Hi Ian Mcgrady,
    Welcome to Numbers Discussions.
Is this file you're attempting to open a true MS Excel .XLS file? Or is it a Google web app? What message are you getting, what happens, are you attempting to open it over the web or off your desktop? The more information you can provide us the better someone will be able to assist you. I've been able to open XLS files without difficulty.
Also, please be aware these discussion groups are users as yourself helping users.
    Again welcome to Numbers discussions.

  • IDOC file format supported ? but how?

    hi all,
i am trying to achieve to read an idoc file with soa suit. but i can not find how to handle this data structure.
can anyone give me a hint to documentation where this is described?
    regards chris

    hi manoj,
in our environment we are used to changing IDOC structures one a almost daily basis.
iway has two crucial problems for us:
    1) it is not possible to receive generic idocs as IDOC_INBOUND_ASYNCHRONOUS s SAP designed it supports. idocs that are received by iway therefore always must be typed and "well known" by the receiver. so iway is not idoc agnostic and is not able to update its idoc structures without rebooting to get the format "well known". as far as we understand it. for us having to reboot a SOA system on a almost daily basis that should be 99.999 % available is not an option. at least for us.
    2) iway is very lets say work intensive for configuration/administration if you have to deal with let's say 30 -100 SAP systems.
therefore we think about not using iway at all but doing everything by file (IDOC format EDI) and hope to at least get rid of point 2. if we get rid of point 1 is still open to the implemenation of the third party library.
    regards chris
