STILL need to go Offline and back Online to obtain mail

OK, several weeks later, and I have (1) used the OS X utility programs to check permissions, etc; (2) rebuilt my mailboxes; (3) deleted most stored e-mails; (5) run software update; and (?) tried other things that don't come to mind right this second, but STILL, my Mail frequently needs to be taken Offline, and then back Online for messages to appear. Lots of my mail comes from AOL accounts, but some from Apple Mail, and both suffer from this problem.
Can anyone suggest something else I can try to get e-mails automatically and consistently?
Steven

When you say "minimum," do you mean NOT 1 minute? Recently, I changed it to 5 minutes from one, without resolving the problem.
The problem I am trying to describe/diagnose was discussed several weeks ago. I should send myself some non-AOL mails to make sure the problem is not AOL specific (most of my discussion group e-mails come via an aol account)...
Would changing the pop port and/or imap port affect this issue?

You can't. Contact the iTunes Store and plead for mercy and see if they will let you download them again:

    Hello there, Kishoresaraogi.
The following Knowledge Base article provides some great steps to troubleshoot your issue:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
    Particularly:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

Still need ing help downloading and installing program from card I purchased at Home Depot two days ago.

It isn't a good idea to start a second thread on the same topic. You have had responses under the first post. I suggest you go there and continue this discussion.

  • Need to Go Offline and then Go Online For My Mail to arrive.

That about says it: Apple Mail will be Online, and I can even use the GetMail button, but no mail arrives. But if I Go Offline, and then Go Online, 5 or 10 or more messages will arrive. This happened enough times to rule out the possiblity of coincidence....

You may want to take a look at this thread -- don't expect to find a solution there, though:
Only receive mail if I quit mail and restart

  • Moving offline media back online

I have PSE 4.0, on an HP running Windows XP. My question is, I have a lot of photos stored offline on CDs that are already linked in my catalog (I originally used PSE to move them offline). Is there any way I can bring these files back online without opening each one in the editor?
    Thanks!

    Heather,
Do you by any chance have the "Organize Your Photos with Adobe Photoshop Elements 3" book by Michael Slater? It does apply to your version 4 also.
I think that page 37 of that book has the information you want -
"If you want to later convert offline photos to online by copying them to the hard disk, use the Move Files function"
If you have the book, there is more information on pages 61-62 about the Organizer File > Move command. If you don't have the book, I suggest that you look in the PSE 4 Help.
Then I would choose a few insignificant photo files to check your results before moving larger groups of photos.

  • Reconcile - ALTER DDL. Dropped (offline) and absent (online) for same table

    JDeveloper 10.1.3.2.0
    1) Offline database table -> refresh from my_connection
    2) Could have done some changes to the offline table here, but it is not needed to run into problems
    3) (The same) Offline database table -> Generate or Reconcile to my_connection
    4) ALTER object with manual reconcile
    5) The table is now not "recognized" the way I thought it should be. "Dropped" on the offline side and "Absent" on the online side
Conistently getting the same behaviour for intance when generating DDL from diagrams. This means I am not able to get any ALTER DDL script (only drop and create objects).
Is there a fundamental misconception of mine or is it a bug here? Not able to find anyone with similar problems within this forum. Nor can I see that the problem is adressed in the 10.1.3.3 fixlist, so I'm prepared to get "did you remember to plug in the power connector"-ish replies here.

    User,
I am getting the same issue with my 10.1.3.1 project.
    Any ideas anyone?

  • The only app I have ON to back up is PHOTOS (2.4 GB) but it says it still needs 4.4 GB to back up the phone. WHY?

I have deleted back up for all other apps on my phone, but it still says there is not enough room. Why is there not enough room when I have less apps on my phone, less photos, and less apps to back up? The screen in settings say I have 618 MB available on the 5.o BG icloud- but not really sure why. Then when I try to back it up it says it needs an additional 4.4 GB of storage. Help please!

This article explains what gets backed up in your iCloud backup:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4859
It also explains how you can manage the storage.
If you have gone through the storage management already, and still have this result, you should restore your iPhone to clear out some of the old clutter and perhaps better synchronize the actual vs. predicted storage amounts.

  • S7000 2.1 speaker don't wake up after sleep. Needs manual turn off and back on - Frustrating!

The speakers seem to go to sleep after about 10 minutes of no use (because you're authoring a document for 15 minutes with no audio/video playing). Now, you want to play some audio/video, the speakers don't automatically wake up! You have to manually turn them off and turn them back on. No speaker system in my history ever needs this manual on/off! Very frustrating!!! Please give me a workaround or fix. Ready to return speakers if I don't have a solution. Just bought and installed them 2 days back and already quite frustrated.

I am having the same exact problem. Here is an excerpt from my system log when the freeze occurs.
At 1-31 11:00:07 I open the lid. About a minute later I have to do a hard restart because the desktop will not come up. The Caps Lock and Num Lock keys both respond to input, so I have no idea what is going on here.

  • Do I still need a mac mini AND a MacBook?

Hmm..my MacBook will have a duo core processor instead of the single core of the mini....it can output a digital signal to my 32" LCD TV/Monitor, it has the same Front Row software and the wireless remote, it has a built in iSight camera, it can operate in closed lid mode....
The only draw back is that my MacBook would be tethered to the TV and have to be disconnected every time I want to use it as a portable, which might make me hesitate to use it portably as much, or want to reconnect it all the time...

One way to "crank the font size to something huge" is to use
System Preferences > Universal Access > Zoom

  • Itunes recognises iphone but iphone says it still needs to be connected and therefore can't sync

Got a new iphone 4S which I want to sync using my previous iphones last backup.  My itunes recognises the phone and calls it my iphone2 but the iphone is still saying connect to itunes.  I am unable to sync.  I have tried restoring the new iphone, using 3 different backups but nothing is working.  I have tried rebooting the computer and the iphone

Thanks Jason.  Tried unauthorising computers then logged out of itunes turned iphone off but nothing is still working.   The computer sees the phone it is the phone that is not seeing the computer

  • The mail app won't receive or send unless I a) take all accounts offline and then online, or b) restart the mail app altogether.

The mail app on my iPhone syncs fine, and if I login to the actual mail accounts via the internet my mail is all there. It's just the syncing of my mac mail app that's off.

Stan, try setting up a new user on your PB, then open the same email account from there and test if the rules work. If they do, Mail in your normal user account is corrupt. Try disk utilities to repair permissions, drag pref files
(user/library/preferences/com.apple.mail.plist) to the desktop and restart Mail to make a new one, see if that works.

  • Video storing on iPhone 5, front and back camera

Ok I am going to be taking a fairly lengthy video in a few days. I have the iPhone 5 16 GB. I am needing to know how much space I need on my phone to store the video. The video is going to be around 45 minutes long. Anyone who can shed any light on this would be greatly appretiated. I would like to know how much memory I would need for both front and back camera.
    Thanks

I have also found out that the front camera contains more noise than the back camera when taking photos. Is that normal?
