Still no audio recording by Quickplayer

I still cannot make an audio recording with Quickplayer. I wonder why that is. I remember before I installed Soundflower I could but now to no avail. I tried to uninstall Soundflower and yes, I cannot "see" it anymore , still i sometimes get to see a message Soundflower tekt? Has that got to do with it?

I phoned Apple about it and they checked. They tried everything but it seems to be a hardware problem. I'll send it back or maybe I'll buy myself an usb microphone. So you know....

Easy on a PC, I click the "speaker" icon at lower right of Windows screen and bring up the audio mixer and just MUTE Premiere, then I can surf the web, watch online videos, listen to music etc, without hearing the capture audio. Assuming that's what you wish to do? Must be a similar option on Mac

Big problem with an audio recorder iTunes

I bought Ondesoft's Audio Recorder specifically to get music from other apps into iTunes. I successfully recorded something (as AAC 192) and it appeared in the Music/Ondesoft Audio Recorder folder.
I tried to drag it to iTunes but it didn't appear, though it would play in QuickTime. Then I noticed that the filename ended .aac and not .m4a so I changed it and immediately the icon changed too, to the "musical note". I dragged it to iTunes and STILL it did not appear!
So I changed it back to .aac and now not even QT will play it.
These are the output format specs in the Ondesoft app :
output format aac
MPEG4-AAC - Normal Quality( 44100 Hz, stereo , 192 kbps )
In the profile information it says:
[Audio]codec=aac sample_rate=44100 hz channel=2 bitrate=192 kbps
So what's wrong? Why doesn't changing the filetype to .m4a cause iTunes to load it into its Library? And why has changing the filetype back to .aac caused QT to stop 'seeing' it? It still plays ok in the Audio Recorder app.

Oh, I know what has happened. I went back to the Audio Recorder, and saw in the 'Output Format' list that while aac was top of the list, there was also m4a lower down. So I re-recorded the music as m4a and this time it loaded into iTunes ok.
But here is a mystery - the profile information for both formats was the same, i.e. aac 41000 Hz 2 channel. If both are exactly the same format - and I'd always believed that iTunes's default format was AAC - then why does iTunes recognise one but not the other??

Giving advice on audio recording

I first started using Captivate when it was Robodemo 5 and
that was not all that long ago. I remember when I first downloaded
it. I thought it was the greatest training software ever. However I
did have problems. The most long lived problems were with audio
recordings. I know that many people have. On some of the forums I
read where one person had given up on Captivate. They did not like
the inconsistent recording of the audio. Sometimes it would be deep
and resounding the next slide would sound as if you are at the end
of a tunnel,and the very next recording would sound metallic and
soft sounding.
Just like with everything else if you are persistent enough
you will find a solution. I tried various mikes some expensive
others less expensive. They all produced the same results.
Inconsistent recordings. The recordings to me were passeable but
all not that great. Then I ordered one of those newer usb condensor
podcastiing mikes.
All I can say is wow! Those new podcasting mikes they level
out the sound.You can still notice that one recording sounds a
tiny,tiny,different than the next,but barely noticeable.
Most of us are not radio announcers or professional
broadcasters however to me the mike made an incredible difference
in Captivates audio recording quality.

The microphone is around 80 dollars, it comes with a soft
ware preamp, and I have always recorded directly into Captivate.
Even a low bit rates and encoding frequencies it still sounds good.
All my Captivate files are produced for the web. Html and .swf
files.
It is the mike Rick that made the difference. It is a Samson
microphone. It is quite large and heavy. I found out about it
through podcasters. I wondered what podcasters were using to record
audio. Audio quality would be important to them. What I wanted was
the best mike for recording onto a computer. The podcasters are
fanatics about the mikes they use.

Most online music stores carry these . Find one that you can
trust. Just Google Samson microphones.
Everyone can have good quality audio recorded directly into
Captivate. For those new at audio recording listen to podcasters
and other broadcasters. Animate your voice to make it more
interesting,speak at the same volume level, get a "pop" filter or
make your own with a nylon and reformed wire coat hangar. Practice
with your voice ,adjust the settings ,test various settings out and
soon you will be saying " wow"!

"Audio Record Path Not Found" error and new details

I've been having problems opening up older GarageBand files I've created and trying to add new content. When I try to record on an existing track, or in a new track, I get the error: "Audio Record Path not Found! Please enter it in the following dialog." (and there's no following dialog). I've tried to save the file as an archive, which has worked in the past, but doesn't work any longer. I'm using a MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo 15"
As a test, I installed iLife 06 on my older (PowerPC-based) Mac Mini. On that computer, I'm able to open the files, and record onto an existing track. None of my recording equipment is attached to this machine, however. If I save an archive and move it to my macBook Pro, I'm still not able to add recordings to it.
I tried reintalling GarageBand on my MBP, but I still get the same error. I've also deleted the preference files from Library > Preferences. (the two com.apple.garageband... files), and still no luck. It doesn't sound like the audio files themsleves are corrupted since I can open them on the Mini, so it's likely GarageBand. What else can I delete to make it a pristine installation?
I don't want to use my Mac Mini for recording, as it's too slow for my editing needs, but if I can't open the files on my MacBook Pro, I'll have to re-record them.
Anyone have any ideas I can try?

Excellent suggestion! I actually left the files on the external USB drive on which I store them, and accessed them from my MacBook Pro (instead of moving the files to the MacBook Pro), and sure enough, I'm able to edit and add to the files!
I still don't know why I can't access them locally on the MBP, but this workaround is certainly acceptible for my needs!

8 bit error- My audio recording is completely silent!

I made an audio recording on garage band. Before the recording was finished, there was an error that said that the audio was too long to play in real time, and so when I played the audio back, it played very slowly and in a very deep voice. After a little while, garage band stated that the file was not supported and that there was an 8 bit error. Now, I can't hear anything, and a lot of the recording is missing.
What do I do?

I've tried multiple firewire cables and tried both firewire ports for each and still my audio interface does not show up as a connected sound output device in system preferences. The manufacturer tech I've been speaking with has determined that the drivers are up to date and there is not a problem in that regard.
Could the firewire port itself have gone bad?

Spinning wheel when audio recording

when i attempt to audio record onLogic 9 i get the spinning wheel and have to wait about ten seconds before record engages, regardless of buffer size; No other programs (digital performer or ableton live) have this problem on my computer (imac 2.6 dual; new;) other people making same complaint but update dosen'taddress this; messing up my business; what to do

Having the same problem too. It seems to take even longer when the singer or guitarist is in the room.
Very embarrassing. I have been going back to 7.2 for overdubbing until I sort it out.
I'm thinking that because I'm on a new terra drive it's paving the way for a millennium of space each time I hit record. It says there are 536 minutes recording time remaining. This is a great feature to be able to turn off.
I'm still trying things. I've noticed it the worst (i.e. longest waiting time) when the song had a lot of instrument plug-ins. It's not so bad at the moment on the current song with no one in the room. Only 2 secs when doing a test record. The same song took up to 10 secs to start recording when the guitarist was here yesterday!
More importantly, does anyone know how to set the record time to i.e.5 minutes like we can do in 7.2?
Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Audio recording redirection in Windows 2008 R2

Hi, i try to setting up audio recording redirection with no success. I use Windows 2008 R2 with Remote Desktop Services role installed and Windows Seven as client computer. I edit local group policy on Windows 2008 R2. Computer settings - Administrative Templates - Windows Components - Remote Desktop Services - Remote Desktop Session Host - Device and resource redirection:
Allow audio and video playback redirection - Enabled.
Allow audio recording redirection - Enabled.
With this setting i can hear audio on my local computer, but no recording devices in sound properties. Anybody know how to troubleshooting this behavior?

Regarding the sound latency issue, I agree with TP on the suggestions to troubleshoot it via hardware/driver level. Based on your feedback, this issue doesn’t appear after rebooting the terminal server. Please let us know if it happens again.
Regarding your new question, I’d like to share the some assessment based on my experience.
After the Remote Desktop Services role is removed from the server, the remote desktop connection will start administrative sessions to access the server. In such a case, redirections audio recording redirection is not supported any more, but Audio Playback redirection is still supported. Therefore, you can still get the sound redirection provided it is configured so. therefore, it is a normal behavior.

Why is my audio recording late?

For some reason my audio is recording out of time.
I have to manually move it back in time. I use my ear to do this but it would be great if i can find out why its doing it and stop it happening in the future.
It might be because I'm recording into a session with lots of plugins etc but I'm still not sure why that would make the audio record late?
Anyone able to help with this one?

Devices does open by default when you select Prefs > Audio
However, I posted up a screenshot for you because under 10.1 the Audio > Devices dialog box is slightly different to previous versions.... They moved some stuff like... 24bit Recording... to the general tab... and I was trying to preempt the "Why do the audio prefs look different" type questions

Bad audio recording

Hey there,
Strange problem with Captivate 1.01, that's happened on two
different PC with different microphones.
Was working with a file and adding/recording new audio for
some slides .. all working well then without warning every time I
recorded the audio it’s recorded noise..
Worked ok, moved to next slide press record and no go (no
settings changes, <30secs later).
If I record audio with screen capture it works fine .. loud
and clear … add audio after, no love…
Re-installed application, audio drivers, purchased a new
mic… and still, records ok if capture both, but not if I only
record audio alone. (and it worked before now doesn't, again no
settings changed)
??? any one had the same problem..

In this first instance I would suggest that you export the
audio files that contain noise and listen to them using Windows
built-in sound recorder applet - Sound Recorder, to do this follow
these steps:
Exporting Captivate audio
1. Choose Audio > Advanced audio...
2. Select the file(s) you want to export (to select multiple
fies hold down the Ctrl key)
3. Click Export
Playing the audio files.
1. Choose Start > Programs > Accessories >
Entertainment > Sound Recorder
2. File > Open
3. Browse to select the desired file and click Open
4. Press the Spacebar.
Can you still hear just noise? Also did you record the audio
using Captivate's built-in audio recorder or did you use a
third-party application?

Audio recording issues

Hi,
For language teaching purposes, we've developed a flash media
server based app which allows users to record audio. It works well,
but at times (actually often) there is a drop in the audio
recording which can last several seconds. We think it could be a
network issue, as it appears to be more salient in some areas or
campus than others, but we're still within the university network
itself so I'm thinking there might be a setting to change or
something we might not be doing well.

Sounds like you're listening to the same source (the X6) being played twice.
Could be you are hearing MIDI thru playback as well as Logic's "Software Monitoring" you must also be enabling a MIDI track for recording. If you unhook the MIDI connection from the X6 does the hollow sound go away.
What Audio interface are you using? The other possibility is your Audio Interface has "Direct Monitoring" this allows you to monitor the audio inputs before it goes into the computer. Having Logic's Software Monitoring enable along with Direct Monitoring would also produce the hollow sound.
I suggest the thorough reading of the manual so you understand what all the preferences do. Most of the time it is better to read and understand/experiment on your own. It's one thing to be shown something another to figure it out for yourself.

Audio Recording - ports

Hi. I have a c2d MBP and I am going to use it for some audio recording. Don't know if I am going to use Logic, Pro Tools, Cubase, or just use Garageband yet. But in my search for an audio interface, I have a question. If my external hard drive is running through firewire 800 port, do I need to stick to just getting an audio interface that is usb? Or can I run external drive through 800 firewire and an audio interface through the firewire 400 port? Thank you.

don't forget though, that if you connect a FW400 audio interface to your machine, your entire FW bus will slow down to FW400 speed.. regardless of whether your drive is connected to the 800 port, and regardless of what order you chain your devices together. it can still work OK, but just be aware of it.
if you can't get enough speed this way, your alternatives are to either buy a PCexpress card that adds a separate FW800 bus to the machine, which you can dedicate to the drive, or you can get an eSATA card and connect a drive to it, leaving the built in firewire alone for your interface.

Quicktime audio recording...records the audio of QTmovie I am playing

I am triying to create a new audio recording (I am doing a translation). But I need to playback the quicktime movie I am trying to translate. (So, I will know what i am translating), but the new audio recording records the audio of the quicktime movie i am playing not my voice. ...help I am a rookie...XP

What I mean is, whenever I plug my headphones into my computer, it's as if they're not there. I can still hear what I'm playing even though the headphones are plugged in.

Audio recording length

i have a maximum audio record length of 15 minutes...how do i increase and or change this???

You'll find that even with "Maximum Record Time" set to off, the recording will still stop around 70 minutes ish. If you slow the tempo of the session down you will obtain longer record time.
This is essential when recording a long live performance like a gig or something where you don't KNOW exactly how long it's gonna be.

3GS audio records at a low volume

Hi all
ive been playing around with the video recorder on mt 3GS and the audio recording level is very low, the same is happening with the memo recorder.
The volume on the phone is turned all the way up when im playing back and this doesnt seem to help much.
Ive uploaded videos to youtube and the volume is still low.
When im using the memo recorder the VU needle hardly moves at all?
When i make calls all is fine, the other party can hear me pefectly clearly.
Im totally stumped
Anyone got any ideas?

I seem to remember someone several months ago having this same problem and I think it turned out to be the AUX cord.
FM transmitters tend to have low volume associated with them as well from my experience.
