Still No Battery Usage Stats

Hi folks, I've seen lots of posts on this but still haven't seen a good answer. I have had my iPhone since launch day. I haven't hacked it once. I've updated to 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 on the evenings those updates came out. My battery usage stats continue to say the following even after the battery charge indicator reads full-charge as indicated by the "plug" icon:
Usage --
Standby --
Is this a bug? Or does this indicate a hardware problem? Am I too late to get a replacement?

I've had the same issue since I fist got my phone. I called Applecare once and was told they are aware of the issue and it should be fixed in an update. This was about two days prior to the 1.0.1 release. I also visited the genius bar twice. First time I was told to do a software re-install. Second time they acted kind of clueless but checked a few employee phones and all we like mine, dashes only.
Here is what I've observed, or my timeline on this issue:
- After buying my phone and noticing this problem I went to the Apple store and the 4 or 5 phones I picked up all had usage meter stats. Genius bar was closed but someone helped me anyway and suggested a software re-install (this was prior to 1.0.1
- When I went in for my second genius bar appointment I checkout out at least a dozen phones and all had "charing timer" stats. Both meters apparently counting up (hours charged) and both identical. This was after 1.0.1.
If I do a restart while the phone is plugged in I get the charging timers instead of the dashes, but my phone acts up and once I restart again it goes back to dashes.
I've got good battery life. Hopefully this will be fixed in an update down the road. Bottom line is there is a warranty on the phone so I'm just going to stop worrying.

  • IPhone battery usage stats misleading ?

    Hi All,
Something I've just noticed with recent firmware versions (I believe since 3.0) is that the meaning of the "Standby" figure in the time usage stats, has changed and become misleading.
It states "Time since lasat full charge", and has a Usage row and a Standby row.
Now I may be crazy but I'm SURE that the Usage row use to (before 3.0) represent the time that the phone was AWAKE (eg, in use and/or screen on) and the Standby time represented the amount of time the phone was asleep. (screen locked, no 3rd party apps running, waiting for a call etc)
For example it might say Usage 4 hours, Standby 6 hours, which meant that the phone was awake for 4 hours, asleep for 6 hours, for a total of 10 hours.
Not so anymore! Now it seems that the Standby figure counts both asleep and awake time. So in the above example the real situation is the phone has been 6 hours since last charge and 4 of those hours it has been awake.
So really the "Standby" field now means "Time since last full charge", and to work out the true standby time, you must subtract the usage figure from the "standby" figure.
Why would Apple make a change like this ? Surely this is a bug ? Has anyone else noticed this discrepancy ?
    Regards,
    Simon

This is how i understood the stats to be since the beginning. Had the first-gen and am now on the 3Gs.

  • Battery Usage Stats

Under Settings>General>Usage   the Usage and Standby blocks are empty.  How do I get these two blocks to show the usage and stanby time ?

I think I discovered it myself. If you charge the phone while it is OFF the usage stats won't show anything, the phone must be charged while in Standby. Am I correct?

  • Battery usage stats check

    Hey guys,
I have a new iphone 4, i fully charged it and then recorded its depletion time.
    My battery stats are:
    standby-1 day
    usage-   9 hrs 10 min
and now the battery percentage reads 5%.
are this statastics ok for a new iphone?

Glad that a Restore as New resolved your issue...

  • Battery usage stats have vanished

    They both currently show -
It says they will be shown again after fully charged but it hasn't.
Since losing the counter I've charged it with battery life being under 20%, do I need to let the battery drain to nothing?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

try do a reboot, then charge until it's 100% full, then unplug and use for a while, it should have stats.
no need to drain to nothing, this usually happens when SpringBoard (the home screen application) crashes, a full recharge will solve it.

  • If I'm not connected to iCloud, could it still cause battery usage?

I thought joining iCloud was going to be a great service for my iPhone 4 with iOS 5 and my at-home iMac, running Lion.  Not so fast there partner!  Wasn't ready for the huge iPhone battery drain since adding iCloud, it went down to near bottom in 5 to 6 hours.  What the heck is that all about?
Got home that day, and went online to this site to learn that there was indeed issues with battery drainage. Now I wish I'd looked at the 'Discussions' before put iCloud to work.
I tried shutting down iCloud, but was surprised to learn how much it took over the iPhone software.  Wasn't aware that some of the input data that I have added to my iPhone harddrive was now either inside the Cloud or being controlled by iCloud.  Then when I tried to shut the iCloud down it basically said all of my previous data in Calendar, as an example, would disappear; how could that be?
With various apps, mail, calendar, notes, etc., I've used up just over half of the 16GB that the phone has available. I'm trying to find why the battery still drains down since I am no longer using iCloud services,  Any ideas would be welcomed.

If it wasn't iCloud then why when I disabled iCloud did my iPhone battery drain stop?  I read what I could find before launching into iCloud, and ended up with severe battery drain almost immediately.  I didn't change anything except enable iCloud.  When I tried to stop using it, it said basically in no uncertain terms that I would lose all data and documents that it took from memory, why that data and the documents that I had put into memory were lost completely to the iCloud are beyond me.

  • IPhone 4 Poor Battery Life? (Usage stats included)

I've made appointments at the Genius Bar and they said it was okay, however when I called Apple they said it was low battery life for an iPhone 4 so I'm kind of left hanging. I occasionally play games, but probably no more than 10 minutes or so. I mostly just use data for internet. Brightness is on 1/4, fetch email every hour, never more than 8 apps left in the multitasking bar. iOS 4.1.
I compared with my friend still with a 3GS and it doesn't seem like mine is any better. I've restored it as a new phone and have done multiple charge cycles. Current usage is below.
    36% battery right now
4 hours and 26 minutes of usage
1 day 19 hours of standby
Is this normal? And if you can, please post your usage stats too. Thanks.

Battery life seems OK to me (iPhone 4 + iOS 4.1)
-Wifi always On (At home and work, day and night)
-Push Notifications On (Game Center, Sportacular Pro, Beejive IM, Facebook, Paypal, eBay)
-2 Exchange accounts (Gmail and work account. Fetching e-mails, calendars and contacts every 30 minutes)
-1 IMAP account (fetching e-mails and notes every 30 minutes)
-Location On (Used everytime I post on Twitter, which means often in a day)
    -Brightness 50% (Auto-Brightness On)

  • STILL having issues with Usage Stats

My usage stats STILL do not reset after I fully charge my iPhone (regardless of whether or not it is plugged into the wall or my computer). What is the deal? The only time they have reset is when I have reset the phone itself (that was about all the advice tech support had for me).
This isn't a huge issue, the life of my battery seems normal to me. It is however a useful feature if it were to work properly, and being as how I paid $600 for my iPhone I would like all of its features to work.
Has anyone else figured out how to resolve this issue? It is not convenient for me to go to an Apple store, so I would like to try to avoid that if possible.
    Thanks!

I don't know if this will help you or not, but I have had a couple of weird things happen to me on this subject as well. I found that my stats would not reset when using the wall outlet to charge the iPhone. Also if I used the docking station to charge it with the iPhone OFF completely, it wouldn't reset until I put it back into the docking station after I had turned the iPhone back on. I didn't check to see if the result would be the same with the wall charger option. I hope this helps.

  • IPhone 6 Battery Usage setting not working.

When I go to my setting and check my Battery Usage setting it states: "Battery information will be available after using iPhone for a few minutes". I've been using it for hours and I get the same response when I go to the setting. I've turned off my phone multiple times to see if that would resolve it, but it hasn't. Is anyone else experiencing this behavior?

    Hello.
I have the same problem. iPhone 5, iOS8.0.2, used for a few days - still no usage statistics, only "Battery information will be available after using iPhone for a few minutes".
I tried restore iPhone (DFU) without restoring backup from iCloud/iTunes, resets, hard-resets, erase all settings, drain battery to 0% and charge to 100% overnight etc. - nothing helps.
I wrote to the Apple about this problem.
Here is the page that you can use to contact with Apple and report a bug - https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
Please, give the title of "iOS8 battery usage statistics not working" (or something like that), choose the "Bug report" and describe the problem. Perhaps it will make that Apple will eliminate this problem in the next version of iOS. More report - greater chance.

  • Top right battery icon does not show battery usage

So over the weekend I did not charge my iPhone, because the icon always said I had full battery life. I believed it because I never made a call, listened to music/video or surfed the net. It basically stayed in sleep in my pocket both days.
I get to work monday, pull it out to listen to music and I get the full screen battery icon showing the battery is dead with the plug and lightning bolt icons under it, then it turns off on its own. If I turn it on again, same deal.
I get home, hook it up to my PC and charge it, it works fine.
Today i've been listening to the iPod all day and surfing the net on EDGE and the battery icon in the top right shows full battery. To test I turned WIFI on for the past few hours to check and it's still showing full battery.
Basically just the battery icon in the top right isn't recognizing the battery being used. My Usage stats in Settings are also blank for Time Since Last Full Charge.
    Background info:
Refurbished iPhone bought directly from ATT, came with 1.1.1, immediatly upgraded to 1.1.4
    I've tried hard reboots.
I keep push e-mail and WiFi off at all times. WiFi comes on very rarely and only for short amounts of time.
I keep the phone connected to my PC overnight, but the PC does not go into any sort of sleep mode(ruling out not charging overnight)
I'm going to go home tonight and restore the phone to see if that helps, but I wanted to see if this is hardware related or software. This just started this weekend and i've had the phone for a few weeks now, and other than some short battery life at the beginning when I would keep wifi and push e-mail on a lot, or the random Safari closings, no other issues.

    DOrk4L,
Have you tried re-calibrating the battery? To re-calibrate it, let the battery drain completely and then charge it fully. You should see correct battery usage after that.
    Hope this helps,

  • IPhone 6 Battery Usage function not working

Battery Usage feature continues to read; "Battery information will be available after using iPhone for a few minutes" even though I have now had the phone and used it for one week. Using iPhone 6, 64G, IOS 8.0.0.(no iOS updates have yet been applied)
A few days ago I attempted some suggestions posted by others. One of those was to let the battery drain to zero then fully charge. This had no affect on the Battery Usage feature. Another suggestion that i tried was to close all open apps on phone, then shut down phone and then turn back on. This did not resolve the Battery Usage issue either.
Is apple aware of this issue? Any help would be appreciated.

  • Android 5.1.1 battery usage high?

Samsung S6 updated over air yesterday to 5.1.1 TBH I haven't seen that much difference in using it. But I used to use my phone all day and still have >50% battery left when put on charge overnight. Today I'm down to 20% with a good few hours left to normal recharge time. I've checked battery usage, and the highest usage is play services @ 25%. Is this normal? I haven't needed to check battery usage prior to issues, so this maybe perfectly normal. I've restarted my phone, turned off wifi GPS & bluetooth lunchtime (all these are normally left on) and still dropping fast. Is it just me, or are others suffering with battery drain since upgrade?

    Hi
There's been a few posts around various issues after the over the air update.
Doing a back-up then a factory re-set seems to resolve the issue.

  • Missing usage stats on 4S

Not sure what happened here. I've never had any kind of problem with the 4S battery usage at all, but suddenly yesterday, my usage stats (Time since last full charge: Usage & Standby) just disappeared. They were there - I used to check them periodically just to make sure the phone was ok, but as I said, they just vanished!
The phone's working just fine but I'd like the stats to work.
I've resisted the temptation to update to 5.01 so far as I'm not sure if this would fix the problem or just create new ones!
Can anyone suggest anything at all?

    OK, now solved.
I just charged till I saw the plug icon in the corner, removed the connector and put it back again. It charged again for a minuite or so and then the plug icon appeared again. At this point I just re-booted and the stats appeared immediately.
I guess the phone was not 100% charged the first time the plug icon appeared and these stats only appear after the phone has been 100% charged.

  • Disable battery usage by app

With the iOS8 upgrade, I can now track battery usage by app, but is there any way to disable this feature?

    Kcarbajal wrote:
Meg:  There is a passcode on the phone, that not the problem. I'd just like the ability to turn off a "feature" that's been added that may have implications that Apple didn't consider at first.
Chris: The "Fed-Talk" list is an e-mail distribution list focused on the Government (Federal & DoD) issues related to using Apple products in those environments. As you might imagine, we have some security requirements that go above what Apple provides by default at times. You can find more info on these types of discussion lists at "lists.apple.com".
I hate to tell you this, but that information was already part of the diagnostics of the iPhone, and has been for years.  All Apple did was make that data viewable by the user.  It's still part of any diagnostics that are done from the iPhone.  Any time Apple does a diagnostic on your device, that information is part of the report.
