Still no Internet Radio

So after the update we still don't have streaming internet radio like on iTunes?
I would have thought this one would have been resolved considering the amount of feedback?
dave

I take it you have a Home Hub 5?
Does it work via the ethernet cable? That would eliminate the possibility of a fault with the unit and BT.
Do you use an iPhone if so does it work with AirPlay ?

  • Internet Radio is NOT missing after all, hooray!

OK, Internet Radio is NOT missing after all. Its placement  just has been made so illogical that as long as you try to find it by logic you will fail.
This is what and where it used to be: an item "Radio" under "LIBRARY" in the side bar, its showing toggleable on-off in Preferences by checking/uncheking the corresponding checkbox. You click on "Radio" under "LIBRARY" and you see a list of internet radio stations in the browser frame.
Here is what and where it is now: a button "Internet" in a button bar over the browser frame when item  "Music" is selected under "LIBRARY" in the side bar. You click on "Internet" and you see a list of internet radio stations in the browser frame just as in the happy olden days. The word "Radio" (as a button) now refers to a service where you can make up your own "stations" a la Pandora, I guess.  At the same time nothing whatsoever has changed in Preferences, there is still an "Internet Radio" checkbox  but unless you are looking at the buttons over the browser frame you will never know what it does. Not only that, there is no corresponding "Internet Radio" library item or button anywhere, there is "Radio" and an "Internet" button, and it just so happens that the checkbox will toggle the "Internet" button on-off.
The end result of all of this is that all items under "Show" in Preferences toggle items under "LIBRARY"  in the side bar except the "Internet Radio" item which will toggle the "Internet" (i.e. internet radio) button in the button bar of "Music". This also means that the only button that can be toggled on/off in the button bar is the "Internet" button, all others are fixed.
Messing with it for messing's sake, trying to be fancy.

Hi Sarah, thanks for ur reply.
I did not use toad to kill session.
I use form application to kill session,
e.g. user id 1111 log in to the application in PC 1
at the same time, same user id 1111 log in to the application in PC 2
So when the user log in into PC 2, i kill the session in PC 1 (in form application).
So when i log out from PC 2, i close the applet, in the next hour, i need to log in again using PC 2 without close the IE.
So the IE is not responding.
Is there any way to refresh IE without re open again to connect to the application ?
    Thanks,
    Iwan

  • I cannot get my iTunes to display new Radio feature...only Internet Radio option still.  I'm on 10.6.8.  Is that an issue?

My iTunes still only shows Internet Radio (not allowing me to use the new Radio feature).
I have the latest version of iTunes and 10.6.8 which is the latest version for my MacBook.
Any thoughts?  Is there a way to update this?

yup, thats an issue. apple states that it requires lion os x v10.7 and above.

  • Still no Nokia Internet Radio for N97?!

In order to listen to Internet radio, like I always do with my N96, I have to purchase the JoikuSpot so that my N97 can become a Wi-Fi hotspot.  And then I have to use my old N96 to connect to my N97 via Wi-Fi and listen to Internet radio using the N96.  A temporary solution, I am OK with it.  But this long wait is getting silly.  And there ain't any other alternatives in the OVI Store either.  No, not in firmware version 20.  I hope Nokia can release a timeline or even a statement if and when, if or not Nokia Internet Radio will appear in N97 (and other touchscreen phones).
And no, the version in OVI Store supposedly for the N97 cannot be installed.

  • Internet radio from Apple TV suddenly not working!!! Please help!

I used to be able to put internet radio stations in a playlist and sync to ATV, and they would show up on the ATV and I could select and listen to them! From what I've read on some other forums, after version 2.02 came out, you could even do that and not have your computer on and itunes open, and could still access and listen to the radio stations on ATV! Which is great!
I hadn't tried this in a while and decided to get the 2.02 update and try. Now, when I select the playlist with the radio stations in it (on ATV) I get a message - "contains no songs"!!
Does anybody know what is going on with this feature? It seems to work for some people but not others! Some think that it stopped working for people with itunes 7.6.1 and higher!! (I have 7.6.2 and OSX 10.4.11)
Just when I had a plan on really taking advantage of this feature, it stopped working!
Can anybody help with this topic? Do people from Apple read and answer these posts?
    Thanks,
    SB

Wow! That surprised me! I had already tried something very similar to that, and it didn't work!
What you said works! Thanks so much!
And in addition, playing the internet radio from my ATV (rather than from computer & thru airtunes) seems to work better! Before, (using airtunes), some stations would cut out / skip etc... and it doesn't seem to happen now! And I can now, not even have my computer on!
My understanding is that if I ever turn off the ATV, I'll have to do the procedure that you said again correct?
    Thanks so much again!
It would be nice if Apple could now have the details / info that shows up in itunes when you play a internet radio station (song info etc...) show up on the screen on ATV - right?!!!
(for me, right now - just says: "Proton Radio - unknown album")

  • I Get an Error "To Access Your iTunes Library ..." And Other Things Are Wonky Too ... Can't Reset ... Internet Radio Drops ... But Things Look To Be Set Up Okay

When I use my Apple TV and try to play music from my computer I get an error: "To access your iTunes library on Apple TV, turn on Home Sharing in iTunes on your computer using 'myname'"
On my computer n iTunes Preferences / Sharing I have the "Share my library on my local network" checked with "Share entire library" -- no password, no update play counts.  I've turned it off and on again.
The Apple TV settings show we are "talking to" my WIFI -- it has my network, shows a good signal strenght, all sorts of internet addresses and IP stuff I don't understand ...
The "Internet" tab works with some of those things I'd never use -- like I see the current NHL standings.
My TV works and I get an ATV signal and those little chimes / bongs when I hit things in the menu.  And when it works I get audio so the cables and TV are okay.
In the past I had trouble with the settings for my favourite Internet Radio stations (the provider changed their URL but Apple didn't update the presets for a while) but those are now resolved.
I had a crappy old G class router and week signal strenght but I have a new N class Cisco router with a strong signal.
    But other things are wonky:
    * I play interent radio and my station will go fine for about five minutes then stop -- the little wheel spins trying to reconnect.  Sometimes it resets but more often than not it won't.  I just tried again four hours later and the same thing.
    * I've unplugged the ATV and plugged it back in but no noticable improvement
    * I tried to do the factory reset from the ATV menu.  It says it will download the latest bla bla bla and after a few minutes tells me "Apple TV can't download latest update right now, try again later" -- I've tried three times today always with the same results.
    * I unhooked it from the power and HDMI and plugged it into a Micro USB cable and plugged that into my Mac -- it doesn't show up in the devices in iTunes.
    * I have a bunch of photos in a folder that I use for my ATV Screen Saver.  A few weeks ago I added two photos to that folder -- they don't show up in the ATV screen show but the others still do.
    * When I started today I checked my iTunes and the airplay icon didn't show in the bottom right (beside the genious icon and the little thing to show or hide the sidebar).  Now I noticed the Airplay icon is there.  When I try to switch from playing through my computer speaakers to my Apple TV I get an error "An unknown error (-15006) occurred while connecting to the Airplay device "Apple TV"" -- the ATV shows that Airplay is on.
    * I see from the ATV settings that I'm running ATV Software 4.4.3 (3323) and when I do a "Update Software" on the ATV it tells me that my software is current.
    * My iTunes is 10.5.2 (11) and my OS is 10.6.8 -- both are up to date.
    Yikes and double yikes!
    Any ideas?

    Hey Chunk,
I love the idea of the ATV more than I have loved the little black box but ... famous last words ... my ATV seems to be working better these days.
A big challenge for me was too many variables at play -- new router, new ATV OS / firmware / whatever, changing internet radio presets, a less than perfect physical set up ... and a short attention span from yours truly.
Here's what I did.  Somwhere in these changes things got "fixed."
    * I unhooked the ATV and did a factory restore by hard wiring the ATV to my computer with a micro USB cable (no external power needed) working through iTunes (I run iTunes 10.5.2 on an iMac with OS X 10.6.8).
    * after the reset I now have ATV (is that an operating system or a firmware?) 4.4.4
    * then I plugged it back into my home theatre and it didn't work :-) but in slightly different ways.  The settings showed that I was connected to my home network but I couln't get connected using my Apple ID and no internet radio.  (it is often counterintuitive -- like why when I want my ATV to talk to my iMac over my local network am I logging in to the iTnes Store with my Apple ID? but there you go.)
    * I booked with the genius bar at the Apple Store and put my ATV in my pocket.  They pulled out a TV, HDMI cable, ATV power source and even the remote -- all I provided was my little black ATV.  We hooked the ATV to their TV and from the Apple Store (using thier WIFI) I logged in using my Apple ID and the thing worked fine.
    * so now I knew that my ATV was up to date and it worked in the Apple Store using their network so it looked like the issue was my network.
    * rebooted my router and noticed that when I had upgraded to the new super dooper Cisco n router we had plugged my iMac direct to the router via ethernet cable.  I unhooked the ethernet and now just run my computer WIFI using AirPort.
    And ...
It works.  I use my ATV exclusivly for music -- my iTunes and internet radio and AirPlay -- and now both work fine.  The ATV does pick up photos from my iPhoto for the screen saver and all that other stuff -- netflix, youtube, the hockey scores, ... all seem to be there.  And my son played a video off his iPod Touch using AirPlay.
I know my approach is more scattered than a proper scientific try but ...
From my experience ... reset the ATV and get it up to date; see if it will work on someone else's network; check your network set up.
    Good luck!

  • Internet radio no longer connects

I have 1.67 GHz Power PC G4 Laptop running OS 10.5.8. (Yeah it's old). The latest iTunes version it can run is 10.6.3. I have been using the internet radio for as many years as I've had this laptop. Three days ago, when I clicked on any of the radio streams I got this message:
An error occurred while contacting the radio tuning service. Check your internet connection, or try again later.
My other laptops access the service fine. And on this laptop, I can access everything else via my connection: Mail, Safari, etc. There doesn't seem to be any problem with my internet connection at all. The computer is authorized for iTunes, so that's not the problem.
In the Preferences, I have Radio checked, there are no Parental Controls.
In System Preferences, the Network Connection is active (obviously), the Firewall is set to Allow All Incoming Connections.
Can't figure out what else to check.

deSIGN:  It's unlikely Apple will ever see your post or request.  If they routinely browse this forum for customer response there is no indication of it.  In fact it seems Apple never discusses issues unless it something truly major. I mean hit  newspaper headlines "major" and not simply a handful of people who are using software versions considered out of date (and yes, from my experience I bet if you went to an Apple Store and asked them about it they would look puzzled at you not updating to iTunes 11, and at running an old computer if your hardware prevents you from updating).  Don't get me wrong, I use even older software and hardware than most of you.  I just come to accept the fact that Apple eventually stops supporting things and I find workarounds or other solutions, or simply live with it.
For that matter this could be like when the weather widget stopped working for older OSX versions a few years ago.  It stopped working for about a month or two, then it suddenly started working again.  No explanation for either change.  It still works today even for my OSX version dating from 2005.  If you're lucky the same thing may happen for the stream server.  It never came back for my iTunes version after it disappeared 4 years ago and I simply made a playlist of the few stations to which I listen and just go on using iTunes 7.5.  iTunes Store stopped working too, so I don't buy from the iTunes Store.  Easy.

  • Internet radio no longer works on E1000 network

My E1000 no longer works with my Livio Internet Radio although it worked perfectly for many months and my Mac Book continues to work perfectly accessing the Internet. The third time I called Cisco tech support  they told me the E1000 was discontinued and no longer supported (and I should just buy a new one!), but that there was a firmware update (although I only bought it earlier this year)!  I tried to download the update and got a warning "This software can destroy your computer. Do you still want to download?"  3 different customer service people assured me they were sending the program driver update to me, but nothing has ever been received!  I have gotten conflicting online advice on what channel I should use. It is currently on Chan. 11, which  the Livio Radio  people say I should change to 10 or 5 but I cannot find any screen under "Wireless" that allows changing the channel!  My screens look entirely different than on the Cisco help pages. Cisco advice says to use 6 or 11 so I'm at a loss here. When I move the Livio radio closer to the E1000 it works, but it worked in the next room without problems before, for many months. When I reviewed the Livio at my publication it worked perfectly with no such problems:  http://www.audaud.com/article.php?ArticleID=6711
Cisco's tech support even worse than Adobe's - absolutely Kafkaesque.  I've spent many hours on this so far now. What is going on?

Open the setup page of the router. Go to the wireless tab. Set the configuration view to manual.
Channel width should be on Standard 20MHz. Now you can change the channel to 6 or 11.
Click on Advanced wireless settings sub tab. Change the beacon Interval to 75, RTS threshold to 2307, fragmentation threshold to 2306. See if that works.
Download the latest firmware from Linksys website for your router. Save it on your computer. Open the setup page of the router. Go to Administration tab and click on firmware upgrade sub tab. Browse the firmware file that you have downloaded and upgrade it on your router.

  • All of a sudden my iTunes 10.1.1.4 will not connect to internet radio

    Hi all,
All of a sudden yesterday, my iTunes 10.1.1.4 will not connect to internet radio. It has otherwise been working fine for almost two years.
My internet connection is working fine for web browsing and email.
I ran the iTunes diagnositcs and it showed me how to go in to the Windows Firewall settings to check to see if there was a connection... there was already one for iTunes in the list of accepted connections. Just to be sure, I created a new iTunes connection exception and it didn't help.
The iTunes diagnostics test shows all information as being normal except this info, pasted in below, about the Firewall test...
    Firewall Information
    Windows Firewall is on.
iTunes is NOT enabled in Windows Firewall.
Connection attempt to Apple web site was successful.
Connection attempt to browsing iTunes Store was successful.
Connection attempt to purchasing from iTunes Store was successful.
Connection attempt to iPhone activation server was successful.
Connection attempt to firmware update server was unsuccessful.
    The network connection timed out.
But this information is partially incorrect, according to the Windows Firewall settings themselves.  My Windows Firewall settings show that iTunes is indeed enabled in Windows Firewall.
I can access the iTunes store, but there doesn't seem to be any test in the iTunes diagnostics that makes it test to see if it is connecting to the iTunes internet radio server.
Is there possibley a current problem happening with the iTunes internet radio connection?
    Thanks for any suggestions.
    numetro

    Hi movem,
Are you saying that Apple has changed the URL for every internet radio station in the entire iTunes radio station library?... or are you suggesting that just some of the internet radio stations in my playlist changed their own URLs?
It seems unlikely that it happens to be that every single internet radio station in my playlist of a hundred radio stations all happened to change thier URLs at the same time, since all of the stations in my playlist will not play from that playlist.
When I went through and found some of the radio stations in the giant default internet radio station library in iTunes, I found some of my old ones that were in my playlist and they play fine and they can be put in to a new playlist and they play fine there too, but the very same stations still will not play from my old original playlist.
So it makes sense if you are saying that Apple has somehow changes all the URLs for all the radio stations in iTunes, because that make sense since they all play from the main radio library.
But, otherwise, to say that all the radio stations in my playlist happened to change their own URLs at the same time, that would be a bit far fetched.
Did you get some news from Apple that this happened, one way or the other?
PS: I'm having a hard time finding a few of the stations that were in my previous, original playlist as well... some of them have either disappeared, changed categories, gone off the air or changed their names.
    Thanks,
    numetro

  • Internet Radio missing - 1 of 2 iTunes issues in 10.9

This occurs on both of my Macs: an old MB Pro and a new MB Air:
In v11.1.2+ The Library section no longer contains the Internet Radio item. When I first noticed it I went to Prefs and noticed Internet Radio was unchecked. I thought maybe it got unchecked during the upgrade so I rechecked it but nothing has changed.
I upgraded to v11.1.3 on the MB Air but nothing has changed.
My radios which I have saved in a playlist are still there and play normally. I can even add a new station if I happen to know the URL and  get it with cmd-U, -> iTunes helpfully creates a new playlist called Internet Songs and puts it in there.
What the heck is going on and how can I correct it?

My problem is WORSE. After upgrading to 11.1, NO internet radio appears at all. My box IS (was) checked in preferences all along. What a bummer, man.

  • Any suggestions why Internet Radio on Apple TV 2 is not working?

Hi - I've had my Apple TV2 for over a year now. Everything has always worked fine without any issues until about a month ago when the Internet Radio feature simply stopped working. I have no idea why - all software is up to date, I've checked the network connections, conducted the test, etc., and everything works. I can still use my iTunes library, watch movies, use YouTube, etc. Just the radio function in the Internet section stopped working.
The error message I get is "Cannot access Internet Radio stations. Check your network configurations and try again." I've checked the configurations, and everything works like a charm, but I still get the error message.
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Time flies when you're having fun, but it's not been out a year yet so should be still under warranty.
Before getting repair/replacement from Apple, try a factory reset by hooking it up to computer using a microUSB lead alone, starting iTunes and restoring software to (current) factory settings.
Unless there's been a change to your network/router/firewall i can't see any obvious reason for it to stop playing internet radio unless the software's corrupted some how.  Guess you've tried unpowering from the mains then restarting it which can sometimes fix odd problems?

  • Nokia Internet Radio Error: Connection Timed Out. ...

    Hi,
I'm having an issue with the Nokia Internet Radio application on the Nokia N95. The app launches ok but if I try and browse the station directory or perform a search I get the error 'Connection Timed Out. Try Again' This happens almost instantly i.e. it doesn't look like it's even trying to connect. If I go to the shoutcast site and click on the 'Tune In' button next to a station the Internet radio app launches and I get an error saying 'General: System Error' and the application closes then goes back to the browser and a message saying 'Web: No Gateway Reply' The application worked fine up until recently. I upgraded to FW V 21.0.016 and hasn't worked since so it may be that this has caused the problem. I've removed and re-downloaded \ re-installed the software but still get the same issue. Web browsing works fine, so I know my internet settings are fine, and the old open-source version of the radio player even works so it's just an issue with this app. Any advice on how to fix it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I had the same problem and I fixed it.  For me, it was because I am on the Rogers network in Canada.  Regardless of where you are many cellular neworks use firewalls and something called NAT (Network Address Translation).  Nokia should really make people aware of this because probably 50% of people around the world have this problem.  The solution for me was to use Rogers VPN or Public IP to access the internet.  Rogers blocks access to this internet connection so you have to add the service to your account for $10 per month but I have heard that other carriers like FIDO have not blocked access to it.
On the Nokia n79 this requires creating a new access point under TOOLS>SETTINGS>CONNECTIONS>DESTINATIONS.  Add a new access point with the following settings:
Connection Name: Rogers VPN (or whatever you want to call it)
    Data Bearer: Packet Data
    Access Point Name: vpn.com
    User Name: wapuser1
    Prompt Password: No
    Password: wapuser
    Authenticaiton: Normal
    Homepage: None
Use Access Point: After Confirmation (or change if you want something else)
That's it. When you load the internet radio Application and it lists your options select "Rogers VPN".  If you don't see it in the list, press the soft button for Options then "Select Access Point" and you will see the full list.  If you want the VPN to be the first thing you see you can change the priority under destination settings.  Just select the VPN and press "Organize" then "Change priority".

  • Sirius Internet Radio doesn't work after Snow Leopard

Sirius Internet Radio doesn't work after I installed Snow Leopard. It works on my Firefox. I emptied the cache on my Safari, but still nothing. Any solutions?

The reason why Sirius Radio online won't work with Safari anymore is because Sirius radio online is only supported by a 32-bit browser. Snow Leopard and all its applications are 64-bit. The best solution is to use firefox. If you still insist on using safari..... Go to adobe.com reinstall adobe flash player. Install/update Flip4Mac. Go to setting for Flip4Mac and check off all the options under the browser tab. Then when you go into Sirius Radio online, you will get an error message, just click okay. Then when you click a station, a quicktime player will come up and you will be able to listen to sirius online radio.

Thanks for the suggestion. I subsequently realized that my Airplay settings on ITunes are ok. The problem is with the settings on Pure Music. I still havent figured this out. When i stream using just ITunes, it works fine, but when I play music using ITunes / Pure Magic, I still have an issue with Apple TV.

  • How to set up an internet radio with itunes?

I want to set up an internet radio so that when I play musics from itunes, my friends could share to enjoy. I guess this needs to stream from itunes and then broadcast. Nicecast would do the job. But it is not free. Is there another solution? Thanks.

Nicecast is only $40. I use it and it is very easy to use once set up. A few years ago I saw a Quicktime Broadcaster but I never investigated that. It might still exist.
But I would recommend Nicecast. It works right on your computer and depending on your upload capacity you can handle 5-10 listeners.
