Still no push notification service.

The push notification servie was promised to come in september. Now it's almost January. When do you expect it to come? MacWold?

With the MobileMe chaos, Cuppertino has realized that they cannot rush out web services anymore without 120% confidence. I expect to get an update from Steve himself in the Jan event.

  • Still no push notifications after 5.1

I noticed that the push notifications weren't working after I downloaded the app 'Draw Something'. Not blaming the app at all, btw.  My wife gets notified when it's her turn and I don't. My wife also has a 4S and we have notifications set the same. So I upgraded to 5.1 last night and still no push notifications. I set espn and tvguide to give me a lot of notifications and have not got anything. I downloaded ipusher app and it's not working either. I'll assume the app is working and my phone isn't. Any ideas?

Restore your phone as new in iTunes and manually load your music, apps, etc.
If that does not work you might want to get it serviced.

  • In the Apple Push Notification Service,How long does a push notification sit in queue before being removed?

Official developer documentation isn't clear about this.
Apple Push Notification Service includes a default Quality of Service (QoS) component that performs a store-and-forward function. If APNs attempts to deliver a notification but the device is offline, the QoS stores the notification. It retains only one notification per application on a device: the last notification received from a provider for that application. When the offline device later reconnects, the QoS forwards the stored notification to the device. The QoS retains a notification for a limited period before deleting it.

This is an iPad user to user forum, so you are not addressing Apple. We have no way to know what and when Apple will do something.

  • The following Apple Push Notification Service certificate will expire June 10, 2014.

We have a BES10.1.2 server with a UDS server.  We have multiple iOS users that access work emails via Work Space/Work Connect.  I do not find anything in the licensing that indicates anything is due to expire, however, we are receiving emails that the Apple Push Notification Service certificate is due to expire tomorrow.  How do I determine if this is in fact the case?  How do I renew this certificate?

    Greetings Prem garigapati,
I understand you are receiving a message regarding an expiring certificate. Are you using a version of OS X Server on your computer? This article has additional information which may be helpful:
OS X Server: How to renew expired push certificates - Apple Support
If the certificate you use with the Apple Push Notification service (APNs) has expired, you can renew it using OS X Server.
Use these steps to renew any push notification certificates that have expired:
Open the OS X Server app.
Select your server in the Server app sidebar, then click Settings.
Click the Edit button next to the “Enable Apple push notifications” option.
Enter your organization's Apple ID in the sheet that appears, then click Renew to renew the expired certificate.
Deselect (uncheck) the “Enable Apple push notifications” option.

  • Apple push notification service certificates

I buy a server app to create my own network at my home business. the apple push notification service certificates have additional cost? I enter my pass but the app do not show me a price for a device. Normally all apple in-app upgrade show an alert. This certificate have an additional cost?

Server.app > select the server at the top of the left column > select Settings > select the Edit button to the right of enable Apple Push Notification > select Renew.
FWIW, I've previously logged an enhancement request with Apple, as this mechanism involves certificates, and isn't available on the certificates page within Server.app, nor is there a way to access the settings from the alert.  This renewal mechanism just isn't as easy to find as it should be.  You're not the first to be confounded by this stuff, in other words.

  • No Certificate from Push Notification Service

    Hi all,
I'm trying to get an Apple Push Notification Service certificate, but after starting,
the dialog seems stucked forever while "Acquiring...".
The credentials are correct, I have allready tried different Apple-IDs, restarting Server.app
and also restarting the Mac, but no help so far.
This has been working within the last weeks flawlessly -- any thoughts are very welcome.

In order to get push notification certificate, do I need to be a paid member/developer ?
I am a free developer. How do I get a push notification certificate ?

  • Novell Push Notification Service (NPNS)

Any issues with Novell Push Notification Service (NPNS) when the Messenger server is fronted by a Netscaler or F5?
    Thanks,
    Al

    Hi Al,
This is a very new service thus there is very little information that I can find on it.
Having said that, I don't foresee an issue with it working in your environment.
One way is for you to test it and report back your findings so that we can all learn?
    Cheers,

  • Push Notification Service For Developers

I was just wondering if anybody had any information about Apple's Push Service for developers. They originally said it would be available in September but I have heard nothing of it. Maybe after the MobileMe troubles, which I experienced none of, they want to wait until it is perfect.
This service, in my opinion, will complete the iPhone and the App Store.

I watched that movie on the conference but i thought it was up and running in September!

  • Push notification service confussion

    Hello all,
Hope u all r reading this in the best of the time. Recently i read on the net abt the push notification service from the apple team. It indeed is a great thing to see since there is no background processing, but i do have some queries in this concern.
The first thing i wana know is that when Apple is going to launch this new service? Another thing which i read is that it needs the firmware to be changed, now the thing that confuses me is that how can we update our emulator for iPhone (the one that comes with the Xcode ide)? or will there be an update in the SDK an we will need to re download it? Is there any such program so that one can get register and get this service a bit earlier (before its release)?
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
    Best regards,
    Obaid

Please let me know because i haven't read any thing abt notification service in the documentation.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

  • Push notification service server question

can we use custom (not adobe) push notification service server for our apps with pro dps account?

    thank, bob
when adobe-hosted push service will work correct?

  • Push notification service fills the system log with errors

When I have the push notification service enabled, my system logs become filled with messages such as this:
    Sep 8 22:54:54 xserve jabberd/c2s[2175]: [7] [::ffff:192.168.1.100, port=50064] connect
    Sep 8 22:54:54 xserve jabberd/c2s[2175]: [7] [::ffff:192.168.1.100, port=50064] disconnect jid=unbound, packets: 0
They occur at a rate of about two every second. What does that message mean and how do I stop it?

When I took a look at push notification, I noticed that it was listening to a different port than what dovecot had been configured to use.(jabberd was set to listen to 5347, while Dovecot (email) was using the standard 5222 port for that open protocol. Not sure what the ichat server is set to use.
Eventually, I did manage to get it working by updating the push notification config to listen to 5222. But it made no real difference because thunderbird and mail.app prefer imap updatings instead of push notification. So I turned it off.
Not sure if this is of any help to you.
