Still no WiFi on iPhone 4s after OS7 upgrade - Need upgrade

Dear Verizon, Apple et al,
You've got us between a rock and a hard place. My daughter's recently upgraded iPhone 4s has no Wifi. With four phones on Verizon and as long-time customers, we've been very good and loyal. But this situation is untenable. With a year-old phone my daughter upgraded her device to OS7 when it become available (and was prompted to). Since then (beginning of September, within her year warranty period) her phone has been unable to connect to Wifi. The Wifi is greyed out. We are a long-time Apple family and when I say, I've done everything...it means, I've tried everything with this phone to get it working again. She was away at college and unable to get into an Apple store before her year warranty expired, so she was unable to get a replacement. We kept waiting for Apple to provide a fix. To issue a statement. To own up to the mess they've caused. Nothing.. Really? Oh Apple, how far you've fallen. Steve Jobs on his fluffy  iCloud is definitely turning over and frowning.
Verizon, we need an upgraded devise. Her phone quit functioning within the year period (you can see this by the alarming amount of data she's using), but she couldn't travel to Apple or Verizon to get it replaced within that time period. Can you take care of this please? We'll have to go elsewhere for her, and once one has left the fold, the rest will follow.
Thank you,
Long-time customer
DJhinVA

I agree with you. So many of us 4s users have been affected by this. I am at the two year mark myself so no warranty replacement for me unfortunately. I tried all apples suggested fixes and nothing works. Putting it in the fridge can get me going for a few minutes and I am able to update some of my larger apps this way, but in general my data usage has certainly increased and I have to really monitor it closely now. I believe it is Apples problem to deal with and remedy this issue warranty or not, it is obvious that it is the iOS 7 upgrade that has screwed the 4s users. Whether intentional or not it appears to be a conspiracy theory to get us to upgrade to the iPhone 5 which is really sad. I like the apple line and there is just no coincidence that so many 4s users were and are being affected by this plague of losing wifi capability so soon after this so called "fantastic" upgrade was announced and encouraged to be implemented. If I knew then what I know now I would have never upgraded! This just shows me two things, apple didn't not fully test this upgrade thoroughly enough, or that it shows the 4s was created with sub standard components which were over tasked and burned out with the iOS 7 update or soon thereafter. Apples only option for me was to pay them $199 to have my phone replaced! I would sooner spend $199 towards a new iPhone 5s before getting a replacement 4s that is sure to fail due to these existing issues. OR, has Apple pushed out the iOS 7.03 and 7.04 updates to rectify the problem and prevent more 4s phones from burning up their chips!? If so that is great however it leaves those of us that have already been affected holding the bag of goods and have been seriously harmed in the process. Apple needs to stand up and do the honorable thing to rectify the situation such in a manner that is similar with recalls on automobiles. For my phone I believe the damage is done and the updates have physically irreversibly damaged my phone. This is your one chance Apple, to make this right. Should you choose not to do so reflects a disgrace not only for your company as a whole but also for your employees from top to bottom as this in turn will hurt your future sales and profits like you have never seen. You have taken pride in producing quality products in the past. You were the leader that other OS followed. Now it appears you are following other OS's and your fan base is dropping like a rock. Not providing a viable solution to this problem will only hurt your reputation and status further. You have a choice to do what is right, and I seriously hope you will take it. I personally have more than 6 different iDevices in my own and will elect to buy non Apple products in the future along with encouraging other friends and family members to follow suit based on my own recent experience with your 4s / Debacle. Word of mouth goes a long way and can certainly turn out to be your worst enemy! Here is your chance Apple to do what is right, please make this right. • So I know now that upgrading to 5.0 took away the page icon at top of iPad. But strangely enough it still shows up on iPhone 4 after upgrading. Anyone know why

So I know now that upgrading to 5.0 took away the page icon at top of iPad. But strangely enough it still shows up on iPhone 4 after upgrading. Anyone know why

So how can I get it back to where there is a seperate visual thumbnail page of tabs. This new tabs on the top is a big mistake in my opinion. Many times while on a website I have accidentally hit one of the other tabs at the top of the screen and all the sudden I am on a page that was previously open. This new tabs at the top also made the menu bar deeper to accomodate everything that should be on a seperate page like it used to be. It was really great, and not something that had to be improved upon. So is there a way to get the tabs back to where they should be?

  • Problems with Wifi on iphone 4 after updating ot iOS 5.1

After I update to iOS 5.1 is started having problems with my home wifi.
After the update every thing seems to be running alright after after a day my connection was lost.
When I tried to reconnect I got the message "unable to join the network".
    I tried the following things:
    - Forget network, reconnect: This did not help
    - restart iPhone: did not help.
    - Reset network settings: did not help.
The next step I tried was to restart my router.
This solved the problem, but after 1 day I have the same issue.
When I go to work there is no problem when I get back home same thing over again.
This is going on ever since I update to iOS 5.1
Before the update I had no problems.
Does anyone have more perment solution.

I have the same issue with my iPhone4 running ios5.1. I have tried everything you mentioned above as well as updating the firmware on my router, setting my router to broadcast on 2.4GHZ or 5GHZ exclusively,  assigning my iPhone a static address as well as a multitude of other mentioned fixes. I have determined this is NOT an issue with my WiFi Network, or Router. All other wireless devices in my home do not have this issue; except for my partner's iPhone4S also running ios5.1. It's WiFi issues are identical to mine. Our other Smartphone, an  HTC running Android, has no WiFi issues whatever.
When I attempt to use WiFi on other networks with my iPhone4, I encounter the same issues: Intermittent connectivity, reporting that it is "Unable to Join Network", showing a strong WiFi signal on screen and yet having no WiFi connectivity, showing WiFi connectivity on screen and strong signal strength, and having no IP Address(etc) under WiFi Networks Settings. After spending a great deal of time online looking for solutions I have determined the following:
This is clearly an Apple Hardware or Software issue. I hope Apple eventually addresses this issue because it is extremely frustrating!

  • I just synced my iphone 3gs after downloading the Safari upgrade, now my iphone won;'t open any apps except the ones loaded on my phone when I got it.

I just synced my iphone 3gs after downloading the safari update.  Now I can't open any apps except the ones that came with the phone.  I have tried rebooting, turning it off and on.
When I select the icon, it goes to the page then returns to my screensaver.
It was working well before the update and sync with my Acer netbook.  Have never had any problems with itunes store or downloads.

this happened to me with my iPhone 4. I researched the problem and found this :
"The reason this happens is because every time a downloaded app is opened it checks for your itunes password for validation that you are authorized to open that app (as it may contain personal info). From time to time the iphone 'forgets' your itunes password. You can fix the missing password by syncing the iphone with itunes or downloading an app from the app store and entering your password that way.”
And to fix it, all I did was download a new app, or delete a current one, I used Facebook, and re-download it.
    Hope this helps

  • ITunes store wont open on my iPhone 5 after the iOS 7 upgrade

I was able to use it for a few days after the upgrade, but now it keeps crashing every time I try and open it. I have tried the date/time/auto thing and I have tried it when I am connected to wireless.

Some folks that have had the problem you are having had to backup their iPhone on iTunes and then Restore their iPhone as a new in-the-box Factory Settings iPhone.  After this they brought their iPhone up as their new phone, iMessages worked, then they went back to iTunes and restored with their Backup which contained all their data, photos, music, etc.

  • I upgraded my wife's iPhone 5c to iOS8. Need help

Hello all. I upgraded my wife's iPhone 5c to the ios8 last night. All day or had been showing the cloud drive as upgrading. I don't think that this is right? Any help is appreciated.

She will have to log into your iCloud account on her iPhone and select My Photo Stream in the Settings/iCloud/Photos window.  That raises problems regarding her own email, calendars, etc. since she will be logged into your iCloud account.  She'll be getting your email, messages, etc. if those options are enabled.
Have your wife create shared photo streams to share with only you each month,.  Then you can download from the shared streams and import into iPhoto.

  • Wanting to get my wife the iPhone..but she can't upgrade until december 11

My wife absolutely hates her phone. She has mentioned she would like the iphone, but she isnt eligible to upgrade until December of 2011. Does anyone know of any way to get around this?

You can actually upgrade at ANY time. If you have not completed enough of your contract, though, you will not receive discounted pricing and will have to pay full retail for the upgrade.
Just seems to be a question of "how much your wife hates her phone, how much she wants the iPhone and how much you love her".

  • How do i access appstore from iPhone 4s after the ios 6 upgrade

i am not able to access the app store from iphone 4s after upgrading to ios6 - any suggestions

The old data will overwrite the new, so you will have to manually import the new data to a computer somehow and figure out how to transfer it manually back into the phone once the old data is transferred. Best of luck.

  • Slow wifi in iPhone 5s after upgraded to iOS 8

I Have upgraded my iPhone 5s recently but my wifi becomes drastically slow i tried to solve this problem by resetting the networking and by turning off the location services of networking but it remains for a while after that a spinning wheel comes and everything becomes as it was plz answer it immediately I really cant check my Facebook properly

Before trying a restore, you could download this app: https://itunes.apple.com/app/speedtest-net-mobile-speed/id300704847?mt=8
Do a few speed tests between 2/5 min. This will clarify if your iPhone is getting a good speed (aside your on screen signal).

  • ITunes STILL not recognizing my iPhone 4S after 3 months

I have the latest version of iTunes, and the latest upgrade to iOS 7.  My computer (running Windows 8--I have not upgraded to 8.1 because I hear it has all kinds of even worse problems) recognizes my iPhone 4S as a device, and opens it in "My Computer" right away when I plug it in.  However, since September, no matter how many times I upgrade iTunes, try the various forms of troubleshooting I find online, or reboot my laptop and iPhone, iTunes is fully convinced that no device is plugged in at all.

The only fix I haven't tried (because I can't get it to work out) is to open something specifically called the "Device Manager" on my computer.  For some reason this isn't there; I only have something called "Devices," and as you can see above, "Devices" says that my iPhone is connected correctly.
This is bothering me.  I have purchased and ripped autographed CDs in the past 3 months, but I can't put them on my iPhone.  I have PDF files I'd like to read on the go, but I can't put them on my iPhone.  The only kind of file transfer I can do is to move photos from my phone to my computer.  This is all I've been able to do for the past 3 months.  Please, PLEASE, somebody fix this!!

  • FaceTime won't stay connected on WiFi on iPhone 4 after iOS6 update

My boyfriend and I both have the iPhone 4. We rely on FaceTime to video chat with each other as he lives in another city from myself and our daughter. We used FaceTime almost on a daily basis over WiFi prior to updating to iOS 6. Since updating to iOS6, neither of us can get FaceTime to maintain a connection to the other for more then a few seconds. FaceTime connects, then the screen goes black says reconnecting and it's a 50/50 guess as to whether it will reconnect and we can see each other for a split second before it goes black and reconnects again or just simply disconnects us. This has been happening for weeks now. I've been in touch with Rogers "technical" support and was told that since we only have iPhone 4 and are using FaceTime over WiFi that they can't do anything to help and I need to contact Apple as it's an Apple Server issue.
Does anyone have any suggestions other then telling me to upgrade to the iPhone 5 so we can use FaceTime over 3G?

So you're saying that it's only your phone that has the wifi problem? Like your friends are using the same wifi as you, but only you lose connection while they don't?
If that's the case, does the wifi have a passcode? And also some wifi networks have a verification before the wifi becomes accessible. For example, you may connect to a wifi network without having to put a password, but then you would need to open Safari and you would need to confirm some things before you're able to use it. Like in college, the wifi is free and open to everyone but only students who have a user and pass are able to access the wifi.
2nd possible solution is to reset your network settings. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. See if that works.
3rd, restart your phone by turning it on/off.
4th, restore your phone on iTunes.

  • No wifi on Iphone 3GS after falling into water.

It fell into water but everything else is working. It is a 3gs. is there a specific way to turn wifi on. I tried to reset network settings but it hasnt helped.

Is Wi-Fi turned on in Settings > Wi-Fi?
If it is greyed out... there is realistically nothing that can be done as you have a hardware failure.  This can happen when dropping electronic devices into liquid.  It's not "fine".

  • TS4036 I did a restore on my wife's iPhone 4 after I backed it up and when the restore was done all of her pictures were gone they weren't back up and I had photo stream on but I can't find the pics any where how can I get the pics back that we're lost

How do I find lost pictures after a back up and restore when iCloud was turn on and logged in and photo stream was on but pictures did not down load please help

iOS: How to back up - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Backed-up information includes purchased music, TV shows, apps, and books*; photos and video in the Camera Roll; device settings (for example, Phone Favorites, Wallpaper, and Mail, Contacts, Calendar accounts); app data; Home screen and app organization; Messages (iMessage, SMS, and MMS), ringtones, and more. Media files synced from your computer aren’t backed up, but can be restored by syncing with iTunes.
Photostream only stores photos from the camera roll for 30 days.
