Still signed in even though closed skype is closed...

Hey I seem to be having an issue for months now, I dont know if this is a known issue or not but a few friends have mine have told me I'm still signed onto skype even after I sign out mannually. Sometimes I'll "Quite skype" and the program closes or I'll "Sign out" and then "Quit Skype" so skype isnt running. Also skype never tells me who has signed on, I've also noticed that some of my contacts remain signed on as well and I'll call or chat them..or even text them asking if their signed on which they will say No.
I'm updated to Skype 6.21.0.104 (It would be annoying to go 'invinsible' everytime using skype and pointless)

Empathy still signs in even though process has been killed...

So I have empathy installed on an arch install at home...
Empathy has the bad habit of re-signing in an account when it gets disconnected, which works fine if it's a legitimate disconnection, but if you've signed in on another program (i.e. pidgin), you wouldn't like to be signed out.
So, I ssh'd in and killed the process (either directly with kill -9 xxxx or killall empathy)... except it still signs me out of Pidgin because it's signing me in on the arch computer.
However, htop doesn't report empathy as being active, so what's going on?!

Sending SIGKILL (kill -9 pid) to a process never gives it a chance to "clean up" before it terminates. Sending SIGTERM (kill pid) is better in most circumstances, unless the process is completely unresponsive. A properly coded program will quit gracefully upon receiving it.

It sounds as though you haven't logged in to the service yet. From the ExportPDF website, click Sign in at the upper-right corner, and log in to the service with your Adobe ID credentials. Now, when you click ExportPDF, you'll be prompted to select PDF files to export, instead of being asked to subscribe.

If the keep me signed in option is not working, you may have a malformed cookie. Try deleting Google/Gmail cookies, for details on how to do that see [[deleting cookies]].

Inspector shows stills as 60fps even though project is 25fps?

My Inspector shows stills as 60fps even though my project is set for 25fps and a couple of other weird things appear.
1. My still default has been set to 5 seconds, yet photos appear in the Event Library as 10 seconds. When I click on one, half of it (5 seconds) is highlighted and can be dragged to the project/timeline.
2. However, if I select several photos simultaneously, the whole 10 seconds of each is highlighted and when dragged to the timeline each one is 10 seconds, not the 5 seconds I want.
How can I batch drag pictures so that they have a duration of 5 seconds?
Just in case the title is not clear . . . .

The crazy thing is tht on my ProBook I still have them even though it uses the same Time Capsule, which to mind mind they are still there on the Time Capsule. Has anybody else had this experience or has any suggestions how I can retrieve the info on my Mac? Any help gratefully accepted! Thanks

Not necessarily. Each Mac using a particular Time Capsule has its own set of backups that are independent of those of any other Mac.
Has anybody else had this experience or has any suggestions how I can retrieve the info on my Mac?
Why are those backups so important to you? My advice is to move on and live without them.

Adobe Reader makes me sign-in even though the STAY SIGNED IN box is checked.

I love the idea that I can view a document on my PC and as long as I'm signed-in I can later view it on my hand held device. But even though I check the STAY SIGNED IN box, whenever I close out of the program then come back I have to re-sign-in. Why won't Adobe keep me signed in as requested?

I run Kaspersky and will have to study whether it is responsible for the problem. Under its Protection Center / Application Control there are a lot of Adobe listings and then a lot of things to look at there; many of which I do not understand. So, you may be on to something Pat; but if anyone knows specifically what I should look at in Kaspersky (or elsewhere) to determine if a specific setting is eating my Adobe cookies ... I would appreciate the guidance where to look and how to fix.

Audio Space Still Being Used even though Match is turned on

My iphone is showing 20.9 GB of audio data even though iTunes Match is turned on. There is no way to adjust what music is on my phone in the music tab in iTunes. My understanding is that my music will now be stored in the cloud and not on my phone. That should free up a lot of space for videos and pics. Am I missing something? Why is my music still in my phone?

Ok I tried turning off Match on my iPhone the syncing with iTunes and I unclicked all my music and after syncing and rebooting my phone I went from 20GB to 12GB of audio files. I still have music in my phone that's not selected in iTunes and on top of that I still have access to some music in iCloud.
I for one am sick and tired of Apple releasing bug filled software and hardware. Next thing that comes out I'm passing on for at least a month.
Now trying turning off syncing music entirely and see if that takes it off my phone. I feel like this whole iCloud business is about 20 steps backwards. I had everything working perfectly between 3 macs a PC 2 iPhones and 2 Apple TV's and now nothing works right. I'm sorry but iCloud *****!!!

Mail windows reopen even though they've been closed when Mail launches

I've had this problem with both Tiger and Leopard.
When I open Mail, it opens with all the previous session's message windows just as they were previously.
Even though before I closed Mail, I closed all the message windows.
Any ideas??

If you open Mail and then in its File menu at the top, click on Window and choose Previous Recipients, you'll get a popup window listing them. At that point, you can highlight and delete any/all.

I need to update Firefox, but it keeps saying that Firefox needs to be closed first (even though all windows are closed). I cannot install or remove Firefox files due to this problem.

Firefox was unable to open google, and I saw there was an update for that problem, but I am unable to install the update (or any update for that matter) as well as removing Firefox. Every time I try to do so, I get a message that I must close Firefox first (even though there are no windows open). I checked applications to be sure, and it does not appear Firefox is running when this happens.

Hi kshikuma. This happens to me sometimes, as well.
To solve this issue, open the Windows Task Manager by hitting Ctrl+Alt+Del.
Go to the "Processes" tab and see if a process named "firefox.exe" or "plugin-container.exe" is opened. Close any and all such processes by right-clicking them and selecting "End Process".

Hello.
Sorry for opening a post with no doubt hundreds of others that have had the same problem. I just can't seem to get a working solution to which I have no resorted in making a post myself.
When I used "/showplaces" it says "You have 1 online endpoints:" And proceeds to give me details to my desktop. And to be double cautious, I use the "/remotelogout" command. Nothing appears so I am unsure if this command was executed properly or not.
I set myself to invisible and in my Tools -> Options -> General Settings. My "Show me as Away when I've been inactive for" is unchecked.
So after that, I click on Skype -> Sign Out. And with hopeful thoughts and praying that it worked, I check my relatives Skype in the next room and I am still appearing offline. This has been the case for over four hours without me signing back in with the hopes of it timing out.
What other steps can I take to resolve this problem? I've tried removing and re-installing skype with no avail.
These are my system specs:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit Service Pack 1
Skype Version: 7.0.85.100
Without sounding harsh, I have no interest in the current development or which direction the company is trying to go in. Nor am I interested in what is trying to be achieved. I simply just want to be able to logout and appear offline as to be expected.

When I sign invisible, it remains in the same status as I previously was. For example, if i set myself to Do not disturb. Then set myself to invisible, I still remain as Do not disturb. Same with Away and Online.
I cannot even set myself as Invisible.

When you say you have changed your Apple ID, how did you change it? Did you maintain your existing Apple ID via Manage your Apple ID and EDIT it to a new email address, or did you set up a brand new Apple ID?
