Still sleeping even after setting Energy Saver to Never

I'm trying to use my 2.53 GHz (Late 2009) MM as a server but even after setting the 'Computer sleep' preference to 'Never' in the Energy Saver System Preferences panel, the MM still goes to sleep. This isn't a big issue for me since I can and have used Wake On Lan apps/scripts, but it's a major pain in the you-know-what for other people who need to access this server over the internet.
Could there be some persistent overriding preference somewhere that is allowing this MM to go to sleep when in fact it should not be because of my setting? I've searched but can find anything.
TIA for any help with this.

Interesting... I had an EyeTV that I did install on an older G5 PowerMac that I stopped using before I migrated to this MM back in March. I'll check to see if the EyeTV app was also migrated over and uninstall it if necessary.
I would have thought that the EyeTV software would default to a "Never Sleep" state considering it's purpose. I'll check this possibility out when I get home after the long weekend.

Even after setting system preferences to Never accept cookies and having deleted all cookies, Safari continues to add cookies.  I've tried to Reseting Safari several time but the problem persists.  This is occurring under two different user logins one of whom is an administrator the other a standard user.  How can I get safari to Never accept cookies?  This is a recent problem because in the past it used to work properly. Any idea what might be going on here?

    Hi David:
I did read (yesterday in another thread) about a similar problem.  I cannot test it myself as I accept cookies (from sites I visit) and do not want to delete all of mine for a test.
I do not know whether it meets your requirements, but you could turn on private browsing.  I use that (or Microsoft's variant on IE) when I use public computers.

  • Mac does not sleep after setting Energy Saver settings

Hi, got a slight problem after installing Leopard. The thing is that my Mac seems to ignore the settings specified in Energy Saver Preference Pane, the screen is put to sleep as it should, that's working fine, but the computer does not go to sleep when designated. I can put it to sleep manually (or by using Schedule) but setting an inactivity time doesn't work.
No visible console messages or similar, no external HDDs or other external devices, no bluetooth, no file sharing, no bad apparent application/process running, no spotlight indexing, as you see I have tried a few things to fix the problem...
Any ideas of how to fix this problem would be appreciated. Thanks.

Ok, seems like I fixed the problem, the numerous things I tried must have solved it, probably the SMC or PRAM/NVRAM fixed it, though I'm not sure, but anyway it's working now, so I'm good.
And to asphotos: No I don't have any printer at all, and I don't use airport, not sure what caused the problem really, just appeared after Snow Leopard install... Thanks for the tip though.

  • Fire fox will not save any passwords even after checking the save passwords box

I don't know how else to say it, the save password does not work even after checking the save password box if I can't get it fixed I'll use some one else

Go to Tools | Options and choose the Security tab from the Options dialog. Check the "Remember passwords for sites" checkbox. Click the Exceptions button to make sure the site you want to remember is not listed.
From that point on, Firefox will record the username and password combination you enter for a site provided it can recognized those fields in the website form. If the username and password are not already recorded for that site, a bar will expand down at the top of the webpage below the page tabs asking you if you want to remember or ignore that new information. Clicking the Remember button will record that information for that site. When you visit that same form again, either the single recorded username and password should automatically appear in the form fields, or a drop-down list of choices will appear when you set the focus to that field. The choices can be filtered by typing the first letters.
If the "Save password" checkbox you mentioned is displayed on the webpage, it is not a part of Firefox and is a function of the webpage of that site, so it does not affect the ability of Firefox to remember usernames and passwords for a particular site.

    Hi huddie71,
    Thank you for your question.
I've raised the limits on their mailbox, and the aforementioned connector settings, etc.,
except the Organization Configuration / Hub Transport / Global Settings / Transport Settings / Maximum Receive and Send Sizes.
By my understand, we could modify the global settings by the following path:
Organization Configuration / Hub Transport / Global Settings / Transport Settings / Maximum Receive and Send Sizes.
Because it will work on existed user and new user without explicit message size limits sets.
If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.
    Best Regard,
    Jim
Hi Jim-Xu.  That would result in everyone getting an increased limit.  I only want one person to have an increased limit.  See the 2nd paragraph in my original post.

  • Webi report would NOT refresh even after setting prompts and refreshing document instance.

I am a .NET developer and a newbie to the world of BO I have just written a simple application in C# making use of the BO.NET Enterprise SDK and the ReportEngine.NET SDK to open a WEBI document and export it to Excel.  I have got the whole thing working - starting from establishing the EnterpriseSession, obtaining the reportEngine instance and also opneing the Webi document and exporting it to Excel.
The problem is the even after setting a different value for the prompts I ALWAYS get the same report  - for example if I set the Country prompt to India I always get the previous one that was set in the universe (Brazil).  These are not optional prompts and I do refresh the documentInstance after calling "SetPrompts"  Did anyone elase have the same problem with caching?.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Please find the snipped of the code attached.

The link is correct, however you need access to SAP Service Market Place (SMP), which you should have since you are using BOE / BI. If not, ask your BOE / BI administrator to set you up with logon to SMP.

    Hi Sandesh,
First note that HR:Security Is for HRMS module for restricting data for respective OUs
MO:Security is for other Modules such as Inv, PO, AR, AP etc., for restricting data
Change the inventory Org to the one you want and then query data...
    Hope it helps.

If you did not restore to factory defaults/new iPod do that. If yuo are still having problem then an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. You likely have a hardware problem.
You are not addressing Apple here. We are just users like yourself.

Does turning off energy saver include never letting the display to sleep? A warning alerts me that its life might shorten... Thanks!
(I'm doing this for the recalibrating of the battery etc...)

It would shorten it's life if you leave it on year 'round. For the amount of time to calibrate the battery won't hurt it.

    Hi Teodorafrombc,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your computer is becoming unresponsive, you may want to see if specific applications are causing this behavior. Try using the Force Quit menu to check for unresponsive applications:
Using the Force Quit feature of OS X makes an application close, even when it is not responsive.
Important: Normally you should not need to force quit an app to close it. When an app is forced to quit, any unsaved changes to open documents are not saved, so try these methods to normally close the app first:
Choose Quit from the app menu. For example, in Safari, choose Safari > Quit Safari.
Choose Quit by right-clicking or control-clicking on an app's icon in the Dock
You can find the article with these steps here:
OS X: How to quit an unresponsive application using Force Quit
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3411
If your display is going blank or seems to be going to sleep unexpectedly, try these steps first:
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
You can find the article with these steps and more information here:
Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays

If these steps don't resolve the issue, feel free to reply with more information about the symptoms you are experiencing.

  • CK40N - Still open even after applying the note

    Hello Everyone!
    Greetings!
Experiencing issues in the costing run. SAP ECC 5.0
After the marking job completion observed that there are some u2018Still Openu2019 items. After some research found the SAP notes u2013 0000542790, 0001321242 & 0001402978.
SAP note 0000542790 is not applicable to us as the client is on SAP ECC 5.0. For the short term fix, as per the note 542790 have executed the command u2018=cksuu2019. It worked.
To apply the notes 0001321242, 0001402978 was testing in the test systems and I still see the u2018STILL OPENu2019 items even after implementing the SAP notes 0001321242 and 0001402978. Both the notes have been sucessfully implemented and also verified the corrections.
Any suggestions/advice, please. Thanks in advance !
    Satish

    Hi Satish,
There can be valid reasons for the 'still open' Materials.
The following are reasons for 'still open'
    1. the materials were included in another costing run so there was an
    overlap in released cost estimates
    2. there was already a released cost estimate for those materials so
the system did not allow for another one - this could have been costed
manually and released manually (ck11) rather than in ck40n
    3. there was a stop in the job that ran to release them (you mentioned
periods were closed). After the restart, some of the statistics could
    have been incorrectly updated.
    Furthermore, please see the note:
542790     Inconsistency correction: Costing run statistics
If need need to find the 'still open' Materials.
If you run tCode 'SE16' and view the table table KALM which contains
the entries for all materials costed within the costing run.
Field 'KALM-FEH_STATUS is the cost estimate's status after step costing.
    1) Find cost estimates created originally within cstg run
So, you have to select all entries of KALM for the specific costing
run which are having KALM-FEH_STATUS = 'KA'.
This is the number of cost estimates which should have been marked in
    the later marking step.
    2) Find cost estimates released successfully
The set of released cost estimates is given by selection of table
KEKO: specify KALAID and KALADAT and FEH_STA = 'FR'.
    3) Find missing cost estimates
Compare the results of 1) and 2):
Which material/plant have an KALM entry, but not a released cost
    cost estimate ?
      > this will be the set of cost estimates you are looking for...

  • Multiple Sleep/Wake Timers in Energy Saver?

    Hi,
Is there a way to have more than one Wake/sleep schedule on my iMac? I like the way it works, I just want more than one schedule.
    Possible?

I have went through this a few ways. First I put my screen saver to 'never' to see if that was somehow getting in the way. It did help the sleep process in the hour it was set... but intermittently it would not do it. Scratched head... loosing hair.
What I ultimately found was doing it was my need to have my mail program set to get mail every 15 minutes. It was a matter of timing for the network and mail fetch functions (priorities according to the on-board brain). If the sleep and mail fetch came in at close to the same time, the mail fetch would win out and the sleep would get 'forgotten' not just delayed. (It may have went into another hour cycle after the fetch but with fetch set at 15 minutes, the two would come up at the same time again next time, and do the same thing). I knew it was fetching, after the hour (screen black) as I put sound effects in mail and heard the chimes.
If your network is 'always' on, and you have mail fetching set, the two can line up together sometimes. Have you tried to turn off your network link and see if it happens? Or simply unplug it, depending how you are connected... and perhaps, close mail so it cannot fetch.

  • Unresponsive system but mouse still moves; even after restart

I was transferring a few files over my LAN wirelessly via file sharing to another macbook (B) when that macbook was closed and caused a disconnect. My macbook (A) has experienced issues since this disconnect. Even after restarts and resetting the pram, my system is unresponsive. The mouse will move but I cannot open applications, folders, files, or even the menu. It is as if my mouse is moving over top a picture of the desktop. I did manage to click and highlight my HD icon once but as soon as I did, the color wheel showed up and never stopped. My hard drive has over 10GB of space free. I was able to do a target disk boot and test the drive and its ok according to disk utility. Any ideas about what I could do would be greatly appreciated...preferably without wiping the hard drive.

The first issue occurred while I was transferring large files from one computer to another via afp file sharing over my wireless network. In the middle of this transfer, someone closed the receiving macbook. The macbook sending the files didn't respond well after this. It would intermittently freeze without a linked resource draining process. I believe the first occurrence was when I tried to right click a file that had been interrupted during transfer. I forced a restart, used the killall Finder command in terminal thinking that it might still be trying to transfer the file to a ghost in some way...even though that didn't make sense. I was able to verify and repair the external drive the file was on. After doing this and resetting the PRAM, it was back to normal for a little while. After a bit of normal activity (nothing strenuous), it began to freeze again. I tried the same steps and also booted in target disk mode so I could use the other macbook to run diagnostics. The drive got repaired. I attempted to restart the affected macbook but I couldn't do anymore than one thing and the never-ending colorwheel would appear. That one thing could be a single click on a file or an attempt of opening an application. After that I turned to this discussion forum after already impatiently attempting to safe mode boot and repair disk permissions. I tried this again with patience after your suggestion. It worked for a few hours and I was able to surf the web once more and go about the usual. I pulled up dashboard and pressed command+ to bring up the list of widgets and it froze on me again. I attempted previous steps again after restarting but there has been no difference in response. Throughout the entirety of this experience, there have been no error messages. Also, there's no difference in behavior if I disconnect everything but the power cable.
Sorry for the lengthy post but hopefully it will be helpful.
