Still stuck in charge mode

so even if my ipod isnt connected to anything- the battery logo shows up as fully charged as though it were still connected to a power source. same if its turned off, the battery will appear on the screen and say "charged" above it.
since this started happening my computer also will not recognize the unit. actually no computer will recognize it- i tried it on my friend's laptop just after he finished updating his own, and nothing.
once connected to a computer, it either does literally nothing at all, or the battery flashes as if its charging.
the ipod functions, but this is so frustrating
resetting it, letting the battery die, and fully charging it up again have done nothing.

similar problem here:
when attempting to install 2.0.1
mid-install i got an "unknown error--error(6)" message
my phone is now stuck in recovery mode (showing only the USB cable with the arrow to the itunes logo)
itunes prompts me to restore my phone before it can do anything further.
i press the restore button, it extracts software and prepares phone for restore
mid-restore i get an "the iphone could not be restored. an unknown error occurred (6)."
i called customer service twice and they were convinced it was a problem with my itunes, they had me uninstall itunes, quicktime, apple software updates, and mobile service support-- i then rebooted and downloaded and installed all the programs i just uninstalled
itunes opens up, i plug my phone in, it tells me my phone is in recovery mode and i have to restore it, i hit the restore button, it extracts software, prepares phone for restore and then the "the iphone could not be restored. an unknown error occurred (6)."
costumer service was wrong. if they tell you to take these steps you will just be wasting close to two hours of your time only to return to right where you began.
i feel like Sisyphus with this phone and the faulty software
first the problem with the 2.0 registering and being with a useless phone
and now 2.0.1 (bug fixes)[<---irony] and have the same problem.
if anyone is having this problem/has alleviated this problem please please please post on how you achieved such a feat in here
any help or suggestions at all are very appreciated.
thanks!

  • Nano stuck in charging mode

My iPod nano is stuck on charging mode even when it's not plugged in. I can use it and it plays ok, but it's always got the lightning in the battery meter at the top of the screen. If I hold the pause button down to turn it off, it turns off for a few seconds and then a big battery with the lightning in it shows up on the screen. That's about all I can tell you. I've tried resetting it (holding the center and menu buttons in for a few seconds) many times. I even restored it to factory settings the other day and it's still doing it. Has anyone else heard of this problem or have any idea how to fix it? Thanks.

    I'm having a similar problem.
When I took the iPod off of its charger the night before last, it continued to display the "Charged" (battery with a power cord) screen until I turned it on and off again. I put it in its case and went to bed. The next morning, I slipped it in my pocket without a second look or thought, but when I tried to play it last night on the way home from work, it wouldn't turn on. I figured it hadn't charged properly.
Last night, I charged it fully again, turned it off, locked it, and put it back into its case. This morning, however, when I picked it up, the screen was on and backlit, even though the controls had been locked for over seven hours. I thought it had frozen, so I unlocked it and tried turning it off. It immediately turned back on again, and displayed the "charged" icon in the top right corner for a second, before returning to the icon which showed the battery was half-depleted. I tried to turn it off a couple more times, and once it even went back to the full-screen "Charged" icon. However, it just would not turn off and stay off.
I thought it was a hardware problem, but, come to think of it, the last time I charged it before two nights ago, I also installed the new firmware. Could it be a firmware problem?

  • IPod Nano stuck in charging mode

First generation iPod Nano is stuck in charging mode. I can still use the menu, select items, play music. It is recognized on Mac when connected. When connected to the computer, the battery icon in the corner shows it is charging, as normal. But when I disconnect from computer or from external charger, the battery icon continues to show it is charging. When it should go to sleep, the large flashing charging icon shows instead. It stays like that all the time. I can't even put it to sleep using the menu. It just sits there with the flashing battery icon until it completely runs out of power. I've tried to reset it several times. It goes through the reset, but continues to follow the pattern of thinking it is recharging when it should be asleep. Any ideas which part of it isn't working right, and what I might be able to do to fix it? Thanks!

  • How do you reset an ipod touch when it is still stuck in recovery mode?

how do you reset an ipod touch when it is still stuck in recovery mode?

Having the same problem. Plugged into the computer, iTunes doesn't connect to it. Plugged it into the wall and the low battery bar shows up but then it goes to the black/apple screen and stays there. The screen goes black and then when it pops back on again (on its own), the apple is still there. Won't hard restart either. Halp!

  • IPod touch stuck in charging mode although charger is disconnected

I've had some problems with low battery life after the 2.0 upgrade. 2.0.1 helped some, but there's still (at least) one battery related problem. I have location and push turned off, but WiFi on. Battery life is always decent to good except in this case:
When I connect an external charger (or connect the touch to my car) and then disconnect it my touch does not recognize that the charger has been disconnected. The unlock screen shows the battery loading icon and the battery icon top left shows the touch being connected to power (which it isn't). The charger is Apple's own firewire charger for a 4G iPod. This never happened with the 1.1.1-1.1.4 firmware (I've tried them all). With 2.0 and 2.0.1 it happens every time.
Once the iPod is stuck in this mode the battery drains very quickly. I can't get it out of this mode by rebooting, resetting, or even reflashing the firmware. The only way is to wait for the battery to go dead and then charge the iPod up again.
I do not see this problem when charging it through USB on my MacBook.
Is anybody else seeing this? Have you found a workaround?

I've tried all of those suggestions, but thanks for trying to help out.
The issue is not that the iPod freezes up, it's that the iPod does not recognize that a third party (car or Apple's old external) charger has been disconnected.
When stuck in that in that mode, the only way to get out of it is to wait for the battery to die. Connecting the third party charger or to a MacBook with USB does not help and you are unable to charge the battery. The battery will die in a couple of hours even if you don't use the iPod at all during this time.

  • IPhone still stuck in headset mode? Try this.

So your iPhone is stuck in headset mode. No sound from earhole speaker, no sound from external speaker unles you use speaker mode during a call. When you change volume, the volume icon says ringer(headphones) even though no headphones are plugged in. Every time you plug in your headphones, the ipod function starts playing songs, and stops when you unplug.
You've tried cleaning the jack. You've looked at previous posts in this forum, and at the knowledgebase.

None of these suggestions have helped, and you don't want to hard reset your phone. This is what i think worked for me.
    1. Plug in headset when iPhone is locked.
    2. Hold down the power button so that the "slide to power off" bar appears.
    3. Remove the headphones.
    4. Push the "Cancel" button at the bottom of the screen.
    5. Go to the phonepad and see if pressing the buttons now produces sound.
(It's possible that I've forgotten something that I did, so the next time my phone locks, I'll try the same method again and update this post. Unless someone else is having the problem and wants to verify.)
    ~ Matthew Lowe

The root cause is either the presence of lint/dust in the switch or the inadequate resilience of the spring.
Nod, that's the cause of a similar problem, and cleaning the jack tends to help. My problem is a software problem, though, so cleaning and repeatedly inserting the headphones won't help.
With the problem I have, the iphone responds to the headphones being inserted or removed, so it knows they're there (or not there) but it fails to switch the speaker output.

  • New iPod touch stuck in charging mode

I just opened my iPod 5th gen, and I tried to charge it, but it just stays on the "charging" icon. And when it's not plugged in, it goes black. What do I do?

    Try:
    - iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Stuck in Charged Mode Constantly

A few months ago I started using an iPod dock. After a few weeks of using it I noticed my iPod was not turning off. When I turned it off the screen would go black then the ipod would show the screen that it shows when fully charged and connected to the computer. My computer doesn't recognize the iPod. The only device that recognizes it is the iPod dock. The battery is fine, because I just put a new battery in. I also know the battery is fine, because I can listen to it for hours. One weird thing is that sometimes after charging it on the dock it will fix itself. But when I have to charge it again, it goes back to being broke. I have searched everywhere for a solution and have not found one. I personally think there is something wrong with the firmware. I have tried re-setting through iTunes when it was working, but it still went back. Does anyone here have any solutions? Or is my iPod in an eternal loop.

I'm having the same problem. I've tried setting it to disk mode and restoring it. The backlighting is less, but it still reads charged when powered down. (I think this is draining the battery quickly.)
Has anyone found a solution to this?

  • ZenV Plus STILL stuck in recovery mode after firmware upgrade

    =Hi there,
My ZenV plus opened in recovery mode for no apparent reason... I have tried every option to try to fix it, including downloading and installing the firmware upgrade - this generated a message saying the upgrade was successful but the player will still only start in Recovery Mode after trying to reboot it. So what do I do next? Thanks in advance for any and all helpful suggestions.

    AHi,
Can you please try resetting the ZEN V Plus to see if it helps?
To reset the player, use a pin to press the reset button.
Did this happen out of the blue?
Do you have any contents in the player? If you do, please remove them to see if the player is booting up properly.

  • My iPod Classic is stuck in disk mode, won't charge on a wall mount, iTunes won't recognize it, and it got this way from me trying to restore it like it said. What do I do now?

So, I tried to restore my iPod to the factory settings via iTunes. It has been a few days now and its still stuck in disk mode telling me "Do Not Disconnect" and it only charges on my laptop. I tried hooking it up to a wall mount to charge and than it told me that I need to use iTunes to restore it. Here's the thing, it won't leave disk mode and its not registering on my iTunes. What can I do to get it back to normal,
Oh yeah, all of the latest updates for my software and iTunes are current.

  • My iphone is stuck in restore mode.  I plugged into macbook and ran a restore and it is still stuck

iphone is stuck in restore mode when i did a rebook.  I hooked up to my macbook and ran a restore.   Itunes ran through the restore and now it is still stuck in restore mode.

If it won't restore in the regular restore mode, you may want to try putting it in DFU mode if you haven't already. Instructions for this are linked below.
    http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1034
Put it in this mode, then do a restore again through your computer.
    Hope this helps you out!
