Still too dark after color corrector 3-way

I've checked other tips on video that's too dark (i.e. quicktime HSL balance) but am still having a problem with a clip. It's a series of clips in a skating rink and the brightness of the flourescent light is keeping me from bringing up the remainder of the dark floor, skater, etc. to a point where it's similar to the other clips of the skater during other footage taken. I've first lowered the blacks and on the whites have raised it to the point just before the exclamation mark warning. But it's still just not matching the other clips I've been able to brighten from the same roller rink. I'm fairly new at this. Any suggestions as to what I can do? Thanks

My apologies and thank you for assisting. I see you're from Chicago and I'm from California. I imagine you gotta hit the sack. I'm 56 years old and the learning curve is just a tad too big I guess. Based on some notes I found on how to save a clip from FC to be able to send, I attempted to save 4 examples for you. Well all four were the same clip. I guess I could at least send that one but it's the best of the four so it would be hard for you to see a comparison. I'm not seeking better fleshtones but rather a brighter global picture. As I mentioned in my original posting the bright flourescent light are the killer. I sure appreciate help here. Trying to help someone go to Australia next year for national skating competition and wanting to produce a video for donations. Just over my head but learning. How could I send you even the one clip I was able to make a tiff of? I don't see attachment options here. Sorry again for my ignorance on things like this. Trying...

  • Color corrector 3 way not working on final cut 7.0.3 what should i do?

Hi can any one help me I'm having an issue with my color corrector 3 way. It won't work?? I am using final cut pro 7.0.3 Mac OS X. I have also had a issue with rendering a sequence I kept getting Render manager even thought I cleaned everything out. I would really appreciate any help.

The usual cause of not seeing Color Correction is the user is looking at the the wrong clip or has applied the CC to the wrong version of a clip.
For CC not to be working, none of your effects would be working.
Can't help you with the render question. You have not provided any useful information.

So, printing an image from PS is OK, but from LR it's dark?
Do both have the same printer ICC profile selected?

  • Epson r1900 Prints too dark after upgrading to cs5 from cs3

Ok this one has got me stumped.  While still in photoshop CS3 my epson r1900 was printing photo's just fine.  After upgrading cs3 to Photoshop cs5  it now prints everything too blue.  Nothing else has changed. My monitor is still calibrated, my printer paper profiles are still the same, the only change was upgrading to cs5.  To me it looks all the world like ICM is being applied twice (in photoshop and the printer) but in photoshop I have selected "photoshop manages colors" just like I did in cs3, and in the print dialog box for the printer, I have selected no ICM again just like I did in CS3.  But now the prints come out with a, to my eye, dark blue tint.  Very very frusterating.  I have deleted the color prefs file and let that recreate, but that did not help either.  I am out of tricks.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Patrick

There were a lot of reports of "double profiling" with Epson printers when Photoshop CS5 was first released.  I believe many people were seeing magenta-looking prints at that time.
Unfortunately, I don't think there was ever a resolution or even a good workaround...  I recall at least one person bought a new printer to be able to continue to work.
Of course, double check to see whether Epson has released any updated printer drivers.
As I don't have an Epson myself, I can only suggest that you'll want to experiment with your settings to see if you can find a way to disable color management in the printer driver, so that only Photoshop does it - or disable color-management in Photoshop so that only the printer driver will do it.

  • Images in PDFs are too dark - wrong color, brightness, contrast

I use my IPAD mainly for viewing medical books, e.g. radiological atlases. Most come in PDF format and most don't look much different on the IPAD than they do on PC. But it is very frustrating to find that the most important book I need looks incredibly bad on the IPAD - it's color reproduction of images is very poor compared to the PC. I've tried all possible viewers, the problem must be in the PDF rendering engine of the IPAD.
Is this problem already known and is there a solution?
    Thank you for your help.

Hi, did anybody read my fix to the problem from 19.09.2011?
Here is another one I found on ipadforums.net:
    Fix to PDF Image problem
Little after the fact, but in case any one googles to this like I did, I did find a work around for this. Only on a mac... I am running Lion and I simple Save as in Preview didn't do the trick for me.
Two options, One a little easier then the other.  1. Open the file in preview. Chose File-> Export. Set the obvious and then under quartz filter select reduce file size. Then hit save. Put the file on your iPad and you should be good to go. This will also circumvent and "large" file size issues you may get from other ways to "fix" this.  2. If you need to have the images in even higher quality, as the first option may decrease the quality slightly then there are more steps.
Select the file you need and choose open with-> ColorSync Utility. Top left of the screen is the button to open filter inspector (three circles, one green, blue and red). Click the downward triangle next to Reduce file size and select duplicate. Rename the copy to anything and then Press the downward triangle on this file. Select Add domains. Then Expand the field (triangle on the left of the name). Expand Image Expansion. Change the quality bar to max. Expand Domains and check PDF workflows. Close the filters box.
On the bottom of the original screen that was opened there is a filter option. Select the file you just created and click apply. Then save the file and you are good to go with a higher quality.  This will fix any color issues with pdf images on iPads. I had pdf images that the colors were off on, almost negative and this worked like a charm. Once its set up its very easy and quick for future pdf image problems.

  • I have a ringtone that works great on my computer but the volume is very soft on the phone.  I have adjusted the volume on the phone but the ringtone volume is still too low.  Is there any way to adjust the volume of a ringtone?

I have managed to sync a ringtone to my ne i phone 5C but the volume is way too soft.
The sound is great on my computer but hard to hear at all on the phone.  I have tried turning up the volume button on the phone but it doesn' do anything for the ringtone.  Any ideas on how to solve this problem.  The ringtone is "calypso blackberry" and I am not able to locate it in the Apple store ringtones.  This should be so simple and it is making me nuts.
    Help anyone please.
    Bob

So you use an RCA cable going into what before it hits the MBP?
EDIT: Also in System Preferences > Sound > Input > you can select the input & adjust the volume accordingly as long as it's plugged in.

  • Once again: prints too dark after upgrading CS3 to CS5

Hi, I know this has been discussed before, but I haven't found a solution to my issue in the existing threads. I am most likely missing something obvious, and perhpas someone here can point it out to me.
I recently upgraded from CS3 to CS5. In both editions of photoshop I followed Eric Chan's recipe for setting up the print workflow: http://people.csail.mit.edu/ericchan/dp/Epson3800/printworkflow.html. In CS3 everything works as expected, i.e., the print matches the soft proof. Printing the same image from the same computer/monitor in CS5 produces a print that is much darker than the softproof or the CS3 print.
In case this is relevant, my psd files are all in Adobe RGB 1998, I use the Epson supplied print diver (v5.51) for the Stylus 3800. I use the icc profile for Epson's Exhibition Fiber paper, which is what I am printing on. The conversion method is Relative Calorimetric with Blackpoint Compensation checked. Photoshop runs on a 32bit Windows XP SP3 machine.
Any suggestions? Are there any settings that are not mentioned in Eric Chan's write-up that I should look at to find the source of the difference? Is there anything else that could account for the different prints?
    Thank you!
    Martin

Thank you for the help! Here are the screen shots. I printed the wacked image from CS3 and CS5. In CS3 everything looks right, i.e. the soft proof matches the print. In CS5 the soft proof looks the same as in CS3, but the print is dark. A photo of the printout is attached at the end.

  • Prints too dark after moving to vista 64 bit home premium

    Hi,
I have a photosmart d7360 printer that used to produce brilliant prints when i had windows XP. I have since purchased a new PC with vista 64 bit home premium and my prints are now very dark. Can anyone please suggest a solution??
    thanks.

  • Safari Toolbar Still Too Dark

Leopard 10.5.2 did not correct the shade and density of the toolbar. Does anyone have suggestions or solutions to lighten the shade? Perhaps a 3rd party app?
    bolobar

    Hi bolobar,
Welcome to Discussions. It's no guarantee, but I remember SafariStand used to allow you to toggle the shade of the unified window. As it depended heavily on SIMBL, I'm not sure how its implementation has been altered with the advent of Leopard.

See, that's why I can't give you dates ;-) If we're out by a few... anyway we figured it was more important to get a few more fixes in. We are working on the 2 week cycle.
Let's go to the colours. You know about the Preferences -> Look and Feel setting? Here you can select any colour combination you prefer. The Fusion Blue (default) is from the Fusion platform and we consume this by default, but you don't have to. You can choose Oracle and then any one of a number of colour combinations to suit your environment. (There is a developer who sits near me who works with a screen that's a combination of red and yellow!)

  • Printout is too dark. PSE 7, Windows Vista

    Hi,
My name is JPSingh. After editing when I print the photo is darker than the display. This does not happen when printing the same image with the same printer driver when I use Microsoft Office Picture Manager and Canon Easy Photo PrintX.  The settings in Photoshop are:
Edit/Color Settings: No Color Setting or Always Optimize for Printing (does not affect print- still too dark),   Print Color Managem
ent: Color Handling/ Photoshop manages color, Printer Preference: Canon MX850/ Color Intensity: Manual, Printer Profile:created by C
olorMunki (works with other photo editing programs), Rendering Input: Perceptual
    Browser: Firefox
    Operating System: Windows Vista
Printer model / driver version: Canon MX850
Video display card / driver version: Windows/System32/drivers
    Would like to hear soon.
    JPSIngh

Try using Color Management as : Printer Manages Color and check whether it makes any difference.

  • Quality suffering, (looking pixely), after using Color Corrector in FCE?

I need some help and I'm sure someone here has the answer I'm looking for!  I am editing a short film with FCE4.  I have converted my original footage, (shot with an EOS 550D at 720p), using MPEG Streamclip to Apple Intermediate Codec for importation and editing.  On a few clips, I have had to do some color correcting, (using the "Color Corrector" filter).  Unfortunately, these clips lose their sharpness afterwards and look somewhat "pixely".  What am I doing wrong?
The above screen shot is after Color Corrector, (although it is diffucult to see my problem in this small pic).  The edges become rough and unsharp, which is most evident in the book on the left.
The following pic is WITHOUT Color Corrector.
What can I do to resolve this????

Thank you everyone for trying to help!
MtD:  BINGO!  I had the Render Settings at 50%, which I feel is sort of a beginner's mistake.  However, I have to say, I have used color corrector before and not experienced this problem.  I wonder if the settings somehow changed themselves with some update?  Curious.  Anyways, I changed it, re-rendered, and now it looks great.  Thanks again.
To anyone else with the same problem, go to "Sequence" and then "Settings" to change the Render Settings to 100%
And now I am just curious: why would you ever want to set your Render Settings to LESS than 100%?

  • IMovie to iDVD--Video too dark, sound too loud--Help!

I created three iMovie projects for my son's swim team, then made a DVD using iDVD. It was fine when viewed in iDVD's preview, but when burned to the DVD-R the video was too dark and the sound was way too loud. This is footage taken on a Sony digital camcorder (DCR-TRV11).
I did the iDVD project by starting from scratch from within iDVD, then dragging the iMovie pieces and still images into the iDVD project. The iMovie pieces were prepared by using Share to make them into "full quality" .dv movies.
When I play the finished DVD on my iMac, there are no unusual problems with the video or audio. It looks and sounds like it did when played from the digital camcirder. But when played on both of my standalone DVD players + TVs, the video is too dark and the audio is much too loud.
Any idea why this is, and to fix it? I don't find a way to reduce the audio volume in iMovie. Maybe there is a workaround using the Relative Volume feature, but all my clips have a similar sound level. Any help will be appreciated.
    --Eric
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

when burned to the DVD-R the video was too dark
They is a VERY slight darkening during the MPG-2 compression process (see my pages Digital Video Color Bars Test at http://homepage.mac.com/profpixel/color_bars/colorbars.htm and iMovie HD and iDVD 5 Gray Patch Test at http://homepage.mac.com/profpixel/gray_patches/graypatches.htm )
I suspect what you are seening is a major difference in brightness/contrast between your computer monitior and your TV set (and in fact you admit this: "When I play the finished DVD on my iMac, there are no unusual problems with the video or audio. It looks and sounds like it did when played from the digital camcirder. But when played on both of my standalone DVD players + TVs, the video is too dark and the audio is much too loud.") so you aren't seeing an iDVD problem.

  • Epson Stylus Pro 3800 - Prints too dark.

I had a Hewlett - Packard pigment ink printer and until it bit the dust, it printed very accurate, beautiful and to the display prints. I have a cheap Canon printer that puts out prints that can match the display too. I just purchased a new Epson Stylus 3800 printer and my prints are much too dark, too much contrast and ever so slightly posterized.
I am using Photoshop CS2. I have checked and I believe the drivers on my printer are current. I have tried letting the printer determine colors as well as letting Photoshop determine colors and turning off the printer controls in the print setting dialogue. The prints are OK - ish, but just not what's on screen and not what I want them to be. My screen is calibrated well enough. It is not paramount that my prints be totally and completely like the display but close.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you one and all for all of this valuable advice. I have a professional coming in to tutor me. I know I can love this printer and want it to work for me as it works for some of you.
Ralph: The 3800 IS set as my default printer. I think I have the most recent drivers but am not positive because I can't find the driver folder to check the version. I know . . . . please bear with me, I try very hard. I have crashed three computers (crashed to the point of needing to be reformatted) and have learned the hard way, be careful when you download.
I used the in house (display calibration device) to calibrate my monitor. I feel it will do well enough for what I want to accomplish. The white point is set at 6000 and I set the tgarget gamma at 2.2 because I found the Mac Standard 1.8 made the display too bright.
My step by step printing settings are pretty basic: I use the embedded profile on one it is sRGBIEC61966-2.1 and on the other it is Duotone. Print With Preview, Let Photoshop Determine Colors, Black Point Compensation checked, and Rendering Intent set to Relative Colormetric. In the Printer Profile: I use the profile I downloaded from the paper's site OR an Epson profile. In the printer driver dialogue I make sure the 3800 is the chosen. Printer Color Management: I check the radio button for Off (No Color Adjustment) In the Print Settings dialogue (I have tried many with the same results.) The closest I came to what I wanted is when I used the front manuel feeder setting, with Velvet Fine Art Paper and checked Advanced Setting, Superfine - 2880 dpi and unchecked High Speed.
For the Let Printer Determine Colors I used Relative Colormetric. In the Printer Color Management I checked Color Controls. In Print Settings I used the same as above, Velvet Fine, Advanced and 2880dpi with High Speed off. The results were similar to the Photoshop settings but both were still too dark with very faint posterization in the gradients.
I have tried many combinations and I always go back to be sure, if I am letting Photoshop do the colors, to check and see if Off (No Color Adjustment) is still checked.
Jeff: Again to all and to you Jeff, thank you for your input. I AM trying but it's difficult. Around here there aren't many with the kind of expertise you have and so I have tried to learn this on my own. All I want to do is print my things. Just get the printer to do my things . . . . one good print at a time.
Sorry this is so long. I am going to get booted now. My server is going off-line to do upgrades. I am receiving my internet through low frequency microwaves and the little start up wants to make it better.
Thank you all for this helpful advice. I will now try to digest it.
    Mary Ellen
If anyone knows were I can find the driver folder (exactly) I will look for it. When I open the Epson Utility it says Epson Printer Utility2 3.57 . . . . when I go to the Epson download site it says the version of the driver offered is 3.57 and so I think that I've got the right version.
