I had trouble after updating to 5.1. Went to Apple Store and received a new phone after describing my long list of problems. With a new phone and reinstalling apps one at a time I am still having apps crash often. even the phone won't come up sometimes. Any suggestions?

Sb live 5.1 trouble after installing new ATI 9550 card... help

hi there !a couple of days ago my brave asus geforce 4 ti card crashed and i installed an ati excalibur 9550 se as backup. almost everything works fine, only winamp seems to make trouble: whenever i playback some music, it has lapses with buzzing sound (sorry, not a natural speaker so i don't know any fitting words). in the past i got the same effect when i was hearing music while starting to burn an cd/dvd but now it allways happens... anyone an idea what causes this error and how to fix it
I've got an asus p4b533 board and an soundblaster li've 5. ... since i also use my pc via tv card to watch tv, and the sound of this is absolutly without any errors, i suppose that it can't just be a defect soundcard or mainboard... anybody got the same trouble after installing a new grafic card ?thanks for your help,christian

Hello. I have the exact same problem and have not been able to fix it. I have a SB Li've with an Asus P4b Motherboard. I've tried many things (playing with Codecs, updating drivers, even returning the card back to the store thinking the problem was hardware). The second card did the samething. I also tried to change the card from its PCI slots (I've tried them all) but it's still creates weird noises when playing MP3s and MPEGs, whatever the slot. Hopefully, I have a sound card integrated to the motherboard, so I use this one instead, but it's not as powerful. When using the SB card, I make sure to deactivate the motherboard's sound card in the BIOS to avoid conflicts. Could anyone help ? I've had this card for a couple of years now and have never been able to use it.

IPhone stolen, can I keep it on iCloud account even after activating new phone?

So my phone was stolen a little while ago and they took my iphone along with a bunch of other stuff. What I'm wondering is if it's possible to keep the stolen iphone active on my iCloud list so I'm alerted if they turn it on, even after activating a new phone. I would just cut my losses but I want to get all my IDs and cards back if there's even a slim chance.
What happens if I activate a new phone using the same number and Apple ID? Will the old phone still be there, or will it disappear from the iCloud devices? I was thinking of setting it to "wipe" but I think just setting it to "Lost Mode" will give me a slim chance if they turn it on again. The phone does have a password and I bet they know they were being tracked so I'd be surprised if they turned it on, but you never know. the police case is still active, but I need a new phone ASAP so I can't just wait to see if anything happens with the old one.

No. The only way to retain them on the iPod after they have been deleted from the computer is to not sync. YOu also can;t add new one .

Assuming you recuested an upgrade you will receive new phone and a NEW sim. You would need to power off your old phone and insert new sim into your new phone then LEAVE your phone connected for a minimum of 4 hours. Please note that the activation of the SIM might take up to 24 hours. As soon your sim is activated you can use your previous/old number.

ITunes library trouble - after adding new external HD

Hi. I was running out of room on an external drive, where I keep all my of my mp3s (my "media folder"). I purchased a new, larger external HD, plugged it in alongside the existing drive, and dragged and dropped everything in the empty new drive. So far, so good.
Now here's where I think I got a little too cute. Since the old ext HD was assigned the letter J:, I figured I could reassign the new drive as J:, and all would be jake --- all existing paths would point in the same direction, and iTunes wouldn't even notice the diff! (Or so I thought.) It actually went like this: reassign existing J: to letter O:; reassign new external (which was born L:) to J:.
When I reopened iTunes after the reassignment surgery, it was a tragic mess: all playlists gone, and the library had resorted to some way earlier version, with the dreaded exclamation points indicating that iTunes couldn't "locate" the music/media files.
I then proceeded to freak out, rapidly and rabidly re-selecting different iTunes library (.itl) files --- previous versions, latest versions --- but nothing was working. I fear all of this activity basically rendered the most recent library file all-but-irretrievable.
I've searched for all library files; I've restarted and rebooted. I'm not concerned about the mp3s themselves; I know where they all are, and can simply drop them all back into iTunes, no prob. What I'm still hoping to do is find that elusive, most recent library file and bring all of my precious, precious organization back.
Any ideas? I fear this is a classic example of (very) limited knowledge being a dangerous thing.
I'm running Windows 7; iTunes 11.1.0.126. MP3 files on an external, but iTunes folder on the C:/User drive, as by default (I think; not 100% sure).

Microsoft's SyncToy utility is ideal for this. You can set up a "folder pair" consisting of the root iTunes folder on your master disc and the corresponding folder in your backup disc (you have options to sync all changes on both sides or to just echo changes to the master, including deletes, on the backup). Once you've done the initial copy you can run this folder pair in SyncToy to achieve what you want.
Are you using your existing external drive just for media storage or have you set it up as a fully portable library (i.e., your iTunes Library.itl file, Album Artwork folders, etc. are on the same drive as the media)? If not, take a look at tt2's tutorial on make a split library portable - this will allow you to have everything used by iTunes on the external drive (better for portability as well as being more robust against PC problems).

It may be possible if you have an iPhone with an iPhone number and then are able to add that in your iPad.
But I don't see how.
For the rest of us without an iPhone, it doesn't appear to be possible to put a regular phone number in our iPads.
It will not let me add a phone number of any kind.
iOS 7, new iPad Mini and iPad 3rd generation. Not possible.
Do you have any screen shots from your iPad with a phone number in it ?

Having trouble after installing new processor

ok, got a 1ghz processor upgrade from ebay for the 350mhz agp graphics g4.
installation goes ok
the thing boots twice normally
then on the third startup drops the screen resolution when the grey apple and affectionatly named "spinny thing"to what looks like 800x600 and then comes up with an open firmware prompt.

tried booting from os 9 and os x 10.3 disks and the cd rom drive does nothing.

Ok Update. Thinking this may have been a hard drive problem, i removed the 80gb master hard drive and set the 120gb hard drive slave as the master. 1 drive on 1 ide cable.
The Cd rom drive is set as master and is the only drive on the other ide cable.
The system Bootchimes, and Flashes the "Cant find you're OS dude!" symbol at me.
So restart after inserting the OS 9 disk (i always install os 9 first so i can use classic or play quake 3 ) it is an official Retail copy of international english 9.04. hold down c, the cd rom drive spins up, flashes at me a few times and then does nothing. The Screen goes grey.
So i restart pressing alt to see if i can get it to boot the cd that way. The screen comes up recogising the cd as a valid OS Boot up choice.
press the next arrow and same thing, cd rom drive spins up but doesnt do anything.
i get the feeling im missing something. But i cant figure it out. Any suggestions?

I need help deleting songs from my new iphone. The songs don't show up in library, they're unchecked and I've synced only the checked songs, but they're still on my brand new phone. I've swiped my finger to the left, and that doesn't work.

They have the icloud symbol beside them. Does that make a difference?

Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with music on your iPhone 5s. It sounds like you're seeing your iTunes in the Cloud purchases.
The items you see with the iCloud icon next to them are purchased songs that you can stream from iTunes in the Cloud and do not have a delete option because they are not actually on your device. You can hide all these songs in Settings on the iPhone:
Just show music that’s been downloaded from iCloud: Go to Settings > Music, then turn off Show All Music.

If there are just specific songs you would like to hide, you can hide them using the iTunes Store on your computer:
To hide your purchases
Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
From the Store menu, choose Store > Sign In, and then enter your Apple ID and password.
Go to the iTunes Store.
Click Purchased from the Quick Links section on the right side of the iTunes Store.
Choose a content type by clicking on Music, TV Shows, Apps, or Books from top.
Hover your cursor over the item you want to hide.
You will see an "X" either to the right or left top corner of the item.
Click the "X" to hide that item. A confirmation dialog will appear once you click the "X."
Once you hide the songs on your computer, I recommend quitting and relaunching the Music app on your iPhone. You can find more information about hiding purchases here:

My 3GS is dying and it's synced to an older computer. I have tons of datafiles as well as apps, music, text messages, etc. that I need to get moved to the new iphone4 I'm getting. Then I need to move the sync to a newer computer so that I can sync the new phone and new computer.
I understand how to get my apps to transfer to a new pc. That's not the issue. It's getting ALL the data from the 3GS to the 4 and then to a new computer.

IPhone 4S fell on some water, was working but now won't work. I got a replacement coming. Can I use the old Sim card in the new phone if it wasn't damaged? Will I get my pictures and contacts and messages back if it wasn't damaged?

My iPhone 4S accidentally fell into a very shallow bit of water. The phone was wet, but worked afterwards for a short bit. Now it's not working, so I called and got a replacement phone coming. Same exact phone. Can I use the old Sim card in the new phone without harming anything? I don't know if the sim card got messed up or not, but I had a lot of pictures and messages and my contacts on my phone, and I assume these were on the sim card or am I wrong? I think I had it on the iCloud, I just changed computers and had part of my old computer backed up, where are the default iTunes info saved like the pictures and I know my contacts were backed up cuz I kept getting updated stuff that I wasn't sure about, but it was contacts where some belonged to my wife's contacts....but anyway, if the cloud backed up contacts, it should have grabbed pictures too? Like I asked before, if they were backed up to the computer, is there a default iTunes folder they are saved to? I had a crap load of pictures on there that I usually could really access if I was connected to wi-fi. I turned off my data stuff as I only have 4GB and between me and my 2 kids, we seemed to use up a lot of it. My son would play music from Pandora during work, and use up all our data til I limited him to only 3GB, my daughter and I barely used 1GB. Anyway, thanks to everybody that is answering. I thought I might have done good finding the dang sim card, but pointless I guess.

Unfortunately, iOS 7 is too hard to push for the iPhone 4 and therefore has a lot of effects turned off to try to get it to run as smoothly as possible.
However, it becomes better and better with each update coming but it's hard to do anything about the hardware on an already released phones.
If you still have trouble or think they are too hard. My tip is, if so, to restore your iPhone 4 and make a clean setup with no iCloud backup. But all your photos in a photostream so you can access it later.

Many users have lost photos while preforming a restore from backup or upgrading the iOS. Recall, only photos in the camera roll are backed up to iCloud. There is a way to turn backups for camera roll on/off, perhaps these users had camera roll turned off.
See:
Settings>icloud>Storage & Backups>Manage Storage, tap the device's name and on the next screen, be sure Camera Roll is turned on.
IMPORTANT...
Photos should be regularly synced to a computer (like you store photos from a digital camera) using either USB via iTunes (on a mac use iPhoto or Aperture to move them to an album) or using photo stream. If using Photo stream, but sure to move the received photos to a permanent album. If you have been doing that, then you can sync those photos back to your device.
Or, you can find other apps in the app store that send camera roll photos to a service like Dropbox.
If you haven't been saving photos except relying on iCloud to store them in a backup, then that is risky, as many users have discovered. I'm afraid I have no advice in this case - there is no "cure".
