(still) Unable to install Flash Player update (process hang)
I haven't been able to install updates for Flash Player for over a year now. Ever since the website changed to the web-install package, i've been unable to update from the download page (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/). The file is downloaded successfully, i double click it, the security message pops up asking if i'm sure i'd like to run it (not UAC as i have that disabled -- i mean the somewhat uncommon Windows one when opening .exe files from the internet)...and then it hangs. Install_flashplayer shows up in the process list of task manager, and the file is moved to a temp location and subsequently deleted. That's it. I don't get the installation menu, nothing.
For some reason the only way i'm able to update is if i get the pop-up upon logging into my computer, telling me a new version is out, in which case it updates as expected. The problem is it sometimes takes MONTHS for this pop-up to finally appear, which means i'm left browsing the web with outdated (sometimes vulnerable) Flash components for the entire duration. On top of this, sometimes the pop-up won't simply update, but instead links me to the aforementioned site which does not work.
Any help? I've tried almost everything, including uninstalling my old version in preparation for a clean install of Flash. Nothing works. About a year ago i was able to use the offline archive instead, which worked a treat, but i can't access it anymore.
EDIT: should have included specs. I'm using Windows Vista 32bit, and i always make sure to keep everything updated. UAC is disabled, and running the installer in Admin mode has no effect. I'm using Firefox, and have ESET as my anti-virus.
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ gets you the "Stub" installer.
You need the following:
Flash Player Uninstaller
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
Right click each and "Save target as".
Save them to your Downloads folder - DO NOT RUN them yet.
Reboot your PC.
BEFORE anything else, run the Uninstaller.
Then run the ActiveX installer, and the (other browser) installer.
Note: there are all FULL "offline" installers and uninstallers. They don't need to download anything else during the install process.

I have tried everything I can think of to install your new version. On Sunday, I downloaded the 11.7.700.169 installation .dmg. When I double clicked on the Install Adobe Flash Player, it reported:

I got prompted for my password, and responded. Then it reports a "General Installation Failure" and stops.
I have rebooted, run Disk Utility to repair permissions, uninstalled Flash Player, and eventually installed a downlevel version of Flash Player. I have tried to enter this message using Firefox, but your web site goes into a loop redirecting to https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=ca&returnurl=http://forums.adobe.com /adobe_login&loc=en

This turned out to be a permissions issue for me, your milage may vary. Note: This could be dangerous, you could always backup your file perms and put them back once flash is installed.
1. Open console on your mac, go to the system.log section
2. Attempt to install, after it downloads and fails use the "String Matching" at the top and type in "flash"
You should get a section that looks like this:

This could be dangerous, I'm not sure with the repercussions are. However, I do know I can use flash now. Obviously, if you aren't savy in terminal commands you shouln't be running them. I take no responsibility for any irresponsible actions, know what this means before you do it.

Unable to install flash player. After downloading the Adobe FLash Player Installer and running it, a grey pop up window opens up but nothing is displayed in it. There is no progress bar or anything and even after keeping it running for a long time there is no progress. Please help with this issue.

Unable to install Flash Player. System is MacOSX 10.6.8
Unable to install Flash Player. System is MacOSX 10.6.8 with 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Due, browser is Safari 5.1.8. Always quit Safari to install. Downloads okay, "Install" seems okay, but doesn't install. Have tried to uninstall and reinstall (download again from Adobe) but still doesn't work, can't view any Flash content online. There is NO Flash Player in my Applications, and I've followed all the help tutorials on Adobe. HELP! This all began months ago when I chose to "upgrade"my Flash to the latest version.
What error messages are you getting when you see that it's not installing? Can you check your /Library/Internet Plug-ins/ folder to see if you have any files in there with "flash" in the filename? I'd also recommend verifying that you have "enable plug-ins" checked in Safari's preferences dialog in the security tab.

After installing Flash player updates, Recently Closed Windows in History menu lost
Hi Friends,
This is just an annoying problem, not really serious, I guess. Whenever I download and install Flash Player updates, History > Recently Closed Tabs, and History > Recently Closed Windows, are wiped out.
This is a problem for me, because when I log on to my computer every morning, I use History > Restore Previous Session, to get back all the tabs I had open the night before. And often also Recently closed Windows, if I had a 2nd and/or 3rd Ff window open last night. After I install Flash Player, the previous session becomes the Adobe update site. I think I can avoid losing the previous session, by making sure I open my previous session before I start the download and installation.
(I don't use fully automatic updates for Flash. I have the system alert me when it's ready, and then the next time I log on to the internet, the download popup window appears. I don't know why it waits until the next time I log on, instead of right after I click ok (and also ok on Spybot S&D and WinPatrol alerts). And I know you can't provide support for that part. But just to let you know all the relevant info :-) .)
So normally, if I've done something to lose my previous session (with all my usual tabs) (usually when I'm in a hurry and don't notice that I've opened Ff without restoring previous session) I can still get that session because it shows up in Recently Closed Windows.
But after I install the Flash update, Recently Closed Windows (and Recently closed Tabs) are both wiped out.
I'm hoping someone can sort this out, and I can just change some setting somewhere, to prevent this. Or maybe like the previous session, and remembering to open it, before I start the dl, it might just be a matter or altering my habits. I can't think of any habit changing that would work though. So that's why I'm asking all you wise Ff users :-) Hopefully it's not a bug?

Unable to install Flash Player as "only a single version of this application can run"
I was having problems with Flash Player earlier today and decided to uninstall it (from Windows 7) and reinstall from scratch. I uninstalled it and tried reinstalling it but now I get the following message: Unable to install Flash Player as "only a single version of this application can run" I tried uninstalling I checked to see if there was still a programme to install but there is not. I checked my files in Windows and there are several files called Install_Flashplayer _16x32 .............. files. I presume they were created each time I attempted to install Flash Player. I thought of deleting the numerous Install FlashPlayer files but decided to seek help before taking this step.

64bit OSI have somehow managed to install Flash Player and it works. I deleted all the install files except one which did not want to be deleted, Then I started to install Flash Player until I got the message about conflicting applications. I then used Ctrl+Alt+Delete to open Task Manager, then closed all tasks except the Flash Player one. Flash Player finished installing. I then opened a TV Player in Firefox and was able to play a programme that required a Flash Player.
Why do I have to use Task Manager to close applications. I can't remember the last time I used it ut think it was about a year ago when my computer would not shut down. -
Unable to install flash player 9
I have been unable to install flash player 9. I followed all
the directions in the web site and did everything that was
suggested for problems. One of the things I was told to do was to
uninstall previous versions. That was the worst suggestion! Now I
can't go to any web page that has Flash content and see anything. I
get the little square with the circle, triangle and box. When I try
to install it says it is installing, but then you are supposed to
get a picture and some text after installation is complete.
However, I just get " and that is it. Adobe does not respond to any
e-mail. Can someone please help me?

I had the same problem everyone else here is having trying to
install Flash Player. I was able to solve it by following the
instructions at

This looks like a difficult process but turned out not to be
as bad as I thought. My only error was assuming it didn't matter
what folder I installed the files to, just as long as I knew where
they were and could reference that folder in the CMD window; the
instructions specify C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools
folder, and I put it into C:\Documents and Settings\(my logon id)
folder instead. This fixed MY browser, but not my wife's. Realizing
the procedure had probably only run in my logon, I then moved the
folder to HER C:\Documents and Settings\(her logon id) folder and
ran the procedure from her desktop, and voila! - it fixed hers as
well. While I haven't tried it since everything is working properly
now, I'm guessing that by following the instructions EXACTLY, the
browsers in both logons would have gotten fixed.

"Unable to install Flash Player Version 17.0.0.134 in Windows 7 64-bit" All I get is a Black box "Installing" and nothing happens for hours & hours. I have tried downloading from the archives, an older, working version of Flash Player. Works on many sites. But, not all. ShutterFly is one that advises me to "Download the latest version of Flash Player". To no avail, can not download.

Unable to install flash player on Windows XP
Unable to install XP using both browsers: IE and firefox. Getting error message:
Error: General installation error
Removed temporary internet files also. still unable to install.I m getting same error.

Help needed installing Flash Player Update on Mac
I am trying to install a flash player update on Mac - right now the one site I'm trying to use says flash is out of date. Will not accept my adobe password, reset it through the adobe site and still will not work. Tried Chat help and agent said to reset password through the Apple screen. When I try that it asks for apple id and password but there is only a place for the password. Any suggestions.

This is the OS (Apple) prompting for the password, not Flash Player, therefore, the password is your Apple password, not Adobe ID password. Please see What userid & password do I need to install Flash Player?

Unable to install flash player successfully
I've tried to install the latest version of Flash Player (11) without success. Sometimes it tells me that I don't have administrator rights on my PC (I do) and other times it tells me to close Windows Explorer( which isn't open). I've tried a fresh install which seemed to work but I still couldn't use the player. I've also checked to make sure it is enabled in IE. As I'm at a loss as to what to do next could someone help me out please?
Right click the installer.
Choose "Run as Administrator"
I had to do this myself after a Windows update this morning. For some reason I no longer have privileges to install Flash Player and Shockwave updates unless I do that. -
Unable to install flash player after uninstalling previous version
I am unable to download/install flash player and I had already uninstalled the previous version. I had been playing farmville and my aol emails just fine and they both stopped working and I was told to try "updating" my flash player. Well, I must have done something wrong because it uninstalled ok but now when I download it again, I get "did not pass the integrity check (1629.304.428)" I also tried to reset IE 8 with no help. This all worked until about 4 days ago and I don't remember updating anything within the last week so I am not sure what I did wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
My OS is Windows Vista 64 bit, web browser is IE8, 32 bit, and I don't have a flash player version according to the link that was provided to check, it keeps giving me the link for the general page with no version numbers. Thanks!

Make sure all browser windows are closed when you run the installer(s). -
Trouble installing Flash player update 14.0.0.177 for Chrome
I tried to help my mom update her flash player. She was running flash version 14.0.0.145 and having problems with it. I was checking things for her when I saw there was a newer version, 14.0.0.177, so I downloaded it. For Chrome you have to enable it in the plugins page, but the only version showing up was the old one. As far as I know, that is how it is installed. She has a windows computer with os windows 7. Is there something I am missing here, or something I should try that could help her get the newest version of flash running? Thanks!

The Flash Player version integrated in Chrome is updated by Google, not Adobe. For this Flash Player release, it appears Google released Flash Player via a Chrome update (versus a components update, which they sometimes do), as per this page Chrome Releases: Stable Channel Update, which indicates 36.0.1985.143 as the version that contains the Flash Player update. You can navigate to chrome://chrome to trigger the update (or Tools > About Google Chrome which goes to the same page).
