Still unable to install itunes

Question

The installer is hanging on the script at the point where it looks for the CD drive. If I remove that line forcing it to continue, it will complete. Then, of course it gives me an error each time I launch itunes:
"Itunes was not properly installed. If you wish to import of burn CD's you need to re-insall itunes."
I think it fails on the CD discovery because its not ATA its a SATA drive (made by HP). So, nothing odd, but the installer isn't getting the response it needs back from the CD drive. Any fix for this?
