Still unable to view / process GX7 RAW files

Despite recent updates Aperture still does not seem to display / process Panasonic GX7 RAW files. I'm using Aperture version 3.5.1 with Digital Camera RAW 5.2 - build 725.1 on a MacBook Pro Mid 2012 (OS X 10.9.1 (13B42)). Any thoughts / help appreciated.

what is the difference between the two web announcements?

This document lists the cameras that have been added by that particular raw support update. All cameras should be included in the list that I pointed to. Your camera is also listed in the list of cameras supported by Mavericks:  OS X Mavericks: Supported digital camera RAW formats
It is disconcerting, that the camera as vanished from the Aperture list. Hopefully it is only a slip of the pen.
You could try to reinstall the Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 5.01. Previously it helped to  register the raw support for your camera with the launch services database - perhaps this will also fix the problem for the GX7.
See this post by Alan Roseman:
This solved my questionRe: Aperture 3 preview of raw file greenish,
but read the follow up posts (the lsregister command) as well, on how it is supposed to work and how to correct the typos   (there are blanks in the commands that need to be removed)
I cannot test it, I have a different Lumix.

  • Download of latest Camera Raw to support Panasonic Lumix GX7 raw files

I have downloaded the latest Camera Raw version for my Photoshop CS 5.1 as I have bought a new camera, Panasonic Lumix GX7.  Camera Raw still does not read these files in spite of the fact that the camera list shows that this camera is supported.  Please help.

According to Adobe’s list, you need at least ACR 8.2 to process GX7 raw files:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
According to this other list, you need at least CS6 to update to ACR 8.2:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
So you either need to upgrade to PS-CS6 or sign-up for a cloud subscription, or download the latest DNG Converter that works with whatever OS version you have, from here:

  • How can I view my 6D raw files before I open them in post processing?

How can I view my 6D raw files after I load them on my computer & before I open them on a post processing Program?
I have no problem doing that with my 1DX,1DIV or 5Dmk III. This problem exist with any sdhc card I use on the 6D, but not on any other camera with the same cards.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Your computer doesn't have camera RAW support installed for a 6D.  RAW isn't really a standard-format... it's more of a concept.  Every individual camera has it's own unique RAW format (even though they all have the same .CR2 extension).
Each time a new camera comes out, companies that make RAW processing software will make an update available that adds that camera.  You'll need to get that update and install it.

  • Camera Raw 4.4.1 still unable to preview Canon 40D CR2 files

Even after installing Camera Raw 4.4.1 plugin update as per installation instructions and purging central Cache...I am still unable to preview Canon 40D Raw (CR2) or Digital Negative (DNG) files on CS3 Bridge or Photoshop.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Jeff..thanks for your helpful feedback. OS used is Vista. After recieving your suggestion I confirmed that I saved the plug-in to Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats - and then rebooted the system. This seemed to resolve the problem and i can now preview raw file.
    Jeff, thanks again. Cheers, Doug

  • PSE9: Suddenly getting error when processing mutliple RAW files

I am usine PSE9 and went to process multiple RAW files today like I have done numerous times in the past.  However, suddenly today even though the settings are still set for MAX JPEG I am getting promted to save each file as a PhotoShop file.  Then all of a sudden it started processing all the files automatically as it has in the past but when completed I get the following error for each individual image file.
    Start Processing Multiple Files
    File: "C:\Users\desktop1\Desktop\2011_08_20_Early_Morning_Garden\_MG_0992.CR2"
Error: The parameters for command "Save" are not currently valid. (-25923)
I have made no changes to PSE9 and as said have performed this operation numerous times previously.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Alternatively Tony should try using Canon’s Digital Photo Professional which came with his camera. It’s by far the best staring point for CR2 raw files.

  • How do you process a RAW file ARW (from a Sony a7R camera) in Elements 11?

How do you process a RAW file (ARW) from Sony a7R camera in Elements 11? Elements 11 does not seem to accept a ARW file.

    Doug2014
For editing of the Sony a7R raw image in Photoshop Elements Camera Raw need the following ingredients
    a. The Camera Raw version must support the camera that you are using, that is, the Sony a7R. Support for that camera did not come until Camera Raw version 8.3.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
    b. The version of Camera Raw must be supported by the version of Photoshop Elements. Camera Raw 8.3 is not supported until Photoshop Elements 12.
The choices would appear to be:
    a. Switch to Photoshop Elements 12
    or
    b. Use the DNG Converter to convert the Raw image to .dng
If all you have is Premiere Elements 11 which I do not think is the case, the Camera Raw plug-in allows you only to import the raw or dng image into the project for inclusion there - no Camera Raw dialog editing. But the same Camera Raw version - Camera Support - Premiere Elements version support still exists.
    Please review.
    Thanks.

  • Ability to process several raw files with the same content but with different exposure into the single picture

Can you add to the Lightroom an ability to process several raw files with the same content but with different exposure into the single picture?
Base raw files can be given with exposure bracketing during shooting, for example.
The goal - to get maximum details in darks and lights (if we use the "ligths recovery" or "fill lights" we lose the quality because raw file just have no all required information).
The similar (but not the same, only the idea) thing - is High Dynamic Range Photography in Adobe Photoshop
    Thank you

The plugin LR/Enfuse does this already. And of course Photomatix have a plugin available for Lightroom. This essentially amounts to pixel editing, which is beyond the range of Lightroom's metadata editing.

  • Hello- I am a Canon photographer.  I use Bridge (CS5) to process my raw files to jpegs.  I am taking on a second photographer who shoots Nikon (D800) and i am not currenty able to see or process his images.  Can you please help?  thankyou!

Hello- I am a Canon photographer.  I use Bridge (CS5) to process my raw files to jpegs.  I am taking on a second photographer who shoots Nikon (D800) and i am not currently able to see or process his images.  Can you please help?  thank you!

    According to Adobe:
    D800
    NEF
    6.7, 7.1
    4.1
    D800E
    NEF
    6.7, 7.1
    4.1
The fact that they have 2 versions of ACR means that initial support for the D800 was added in 6.7  but that complete support was finalized in 7.1 (the 4.1 in the chart is for Lightroom)
I'm not sure that this means there are missing features, but rather refinements and optimized settings were added in 7.1
    However, ACR 7.1 requires CS6.
As Dag mentioned, you can also use the latest version of DNG Converter to convert the D800 files to DNGs which will be able to be opened in older versions of ACR.
The DNG converter only works on folders of files, not individual files. So just select the folder and convert. All the files in the folder will be converted.

I am unable to open canon 6d raw files w/ elements 11. It seems that camera raw 7.1.0.384 is installed. I tried to update and nothing happens.Any help please?

Sometimes the Adobe servers can get busy; so try again from Expert Mode:

You should be able to select ACR 7.4 (see image) and then click the update button.

  • Would like to purchase PSE 12 to process Camera Raw files for the following cameras: Nikon D800, Nikon DF, Canon G9 and Pentax K-3 does the Raw Converter that comes with  PSE 12 when purchased recognize  the cameras listed in the question or do I need to

Would like to purchase PSE 12 to process Camera Raw files for the following cameras: Nikon D800, Nikon DF, Canon G9 and Pentax K-3 does the Raw Converter that comes with  PSE 12 when purchased recognize  the cameras listed in the question or do I need to download  the camera Raw Version 8.3 ?

While the G9 RAW files can be read by Adobe Camera RAW and Lightroom, these file are unsupported at this time. Here is a link to Adobe's latest list of cameras that are supported and this list came out yesterday http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html
I have not done a comparison between Lightroom and Canon's software but others have and say that Canon's software is clearly better. I am sure when Adobe updates their software again to include the G9 it will be a very good RAW converter as it is will most other cameras.

Don't take your laptop back. Find out the number for Apple Care in your part of the world and call them. Tell your story to them. If the person on the phone can't help you, ask for their supervisor. Keep asking for supervisors until you get exactly what you want to get. If that mean you want to get the problem fixed without having the computer gone for four weeks, then keep asking for supervisors till you get someone who can do that for you.
Be prepared to be on the phone for a while, so arrange a speaker phone, water to hand etc. Be patient.
As for "crappy computers"--my MBA has worked flawlessly since the day I got it. As good if not better than any Apple laptop I've ever had, and I've had several. This is the thing though, there is a percentage of failure rate that occurs in electronics. It occurs whether we're talking about televison sets or toasters. If it's electric, it has that failure rate. Now sometimes a thing will be bad and in that case the word gets out and everyone knows that particular electronic has surpassed the normal failure percentage. The Airs, however, have not done that. Their reputation, so far, has been incredibly solid and good. So you can assume that you, unfortunately, got one out of that small percentage of electronics that have an issue.
Laptops, let us remember, are doing a lot in a very small area. A lot can go wrong, and it's pretty amazing how many don't, especially given how many are made and sold. Sometimes we get the bad apple in the barrel, it doesn' t mean that the company making it has gone down hill. We hope the manager of the store, or the company, or someone will do right by us. If they don't, then we need to make sure they do. Keep asking for upper management till you get what you want.

  • After updating Bridge & PS, still unable to view CR2 files from Canon M3

I cannot view CR2 Raw files from the Mark III on Bridge CS6 and Photoshop CS6 to convert into TIF and JPG files for a client. I have updated all of my Adobe programs, restarted, and the files are still not showing up for me. Help please!

    Thank you for elaborating.
Your system should absolutely be opening those files.  Any of the versions of ACR (Adobe Camera Raw Plug-in) that run with Photoshop 13.0.6 can and will open those files if properly installed, that includes the current version, ACR 8.6.
Go to About Plug-In > Camera Raw… in the Photoshop menu and see what version shows up there, just to check that the plug-in is installed correctly.  There should only be one version of ACR in the plug-in menu.
That Canon camera model has been supported ever since ACR versions 6.7 in CS5 and 7.1 in CS6.
If ACR only shows once in the plug-in menu and you still cannot open your file(s), then you in all probability have corrupted files.
The fact that you can see the images in Apple's Preview means nothing, only that Preview is showing you the embedded JPEG preview embedded in the file. Such JPEG previews generally do not get corrupted even if the raw file has been corrupted.
I hope you have the original CR2 files or good backups.

  • Why are my actions not processing the RAW files correctly?

For starters, I have to say the CS4 has been one of the most unreliable software packages I've ever used.  It's a beta version.  Adobe is making Microsoft look good these days.  I was extorted into upgrading from CS3 because Adobe chose not to create a RAW plug-in for CS3 that would open Canon 5D Mark II files. They wanted the revenue.
I'm an engineer and am pretty good with computer problems, but after spending hours simply trying to install the CS4 upgrade over CS3 on a fairly new, very fast Windows machine with no other software installed by me, I gave up.  It took 3 hours on the phone with an Adobe tech to get it running (more or less) properly.  CS4 still freezes up about once a day on that system, losing whatever the latest changes I've made by the time I finally get it closed and restarted  Then a month ago I bought a new, fast Windows laptop.  I only installed CS4 and Word on that computer (with all the latest patches and RAW plug-ins).  It's biggest problem is in processing RAW files.  I have an action that works fine on my other systems that I wrote from scratch on the new laptop.  All the action does is open a RAW file as a PSD file, resize it, convert to sRGB, change the mode to 8 bits, sharpen it, and save it as a JPG.  But the resulting JPG does not look like the RAW file from which it was made--color, brightness, contrast, etc. are all significantly changed.  When I get back from an assignment and transfer the same RAW files to my other computer on which CS4 is installed and run the same action, the JPGs come out perfectly.  Once again, Adobe has met my low expectations.  Any ideas on what the problem is?

Sounds like you're a candidate for Lightroom...based on the time you don't
    want to spend in Photoshop.
Photoshop install media is likely created in large batches, perhaps in a
foreign country, so it's understandable that you get Photoshop 11.0.0 is on
    the media.
I don't know as I would use ProPhotoRGB as my working space in Photoshop.  I
was merely suggesting that you look at your color settings to make sure
things were the same on both machines.
How do you know your actions are the same?  Did you copy the action
recording from one computer to the other, or did you merely record the same
steps on each one?  Have you compared the details of each action step in the
Actions Palette to make sure they are the same?  The symptoms still sound
like something different than sRGB being the output color-space, or the fact
it isn't embedded on one or the other of the computers.
How are you viewing the JPG when it looks the same or different than the
RAW?  Are you looking at the side-by-side in Photoshop, or side-by-side in
Bridge, or are you using a mixture of viewers, one Adobe, and one not?  And
are you using the Canon Codec on Vista or not?  The Canon Codec would be
showing the camera-preview in the RAW not the RAW adjustments that Adobe has
    done.
While the OS shouldn't be causing a difference in how the action is run, a
difference between OSes may make a difference in the processing to show up.
The camera profile associated with a RAW file is visible in the
third-from-right tab in ACR over at the right.  The one with the little
    DSLR-camera icon on the tab.
Can you attach the two JPGs on a reply, here, or if not, upload a ZIP of the
two JPGs and the RAW to a file-sharing site like http://www.rapidshare.com/
    and post the download link(s)?
