Still waiting for unlock code since 29th May

I am still waiting for an unlocking code from EE.I first contacted them on 29th May, then 31st May then 16th June, then 26th June, then 13th July, then 15th July. Each time I have spoken to customer services they have appologised profusely and assured me that the unlock code would be fast tracked. The last 2 calls promised me the money would be deducted from my credit on my orange PAYG account within 72 hours and the unlock code would be sent via email in 24 hours afterwards. My phone is xperia ST261.It is second hand, given to me by a friend who upgraded his phone with EE.I have an Orange PAYG simcard which I've had for over 15 years. I still wish to use this but also use a Lebara simcard, which is why I want the phone unlocked.I topped up with £10 so that there is sufficient money to pay the fee.I have filled in 2 or 3 requests online as I had 2texts from EE saying they couldn't continue with the request and that I needed to visit page...blah blah, fill in online unlock request form (again)I have spoken to 6 customer service reps who have also submitted the request....I should know my IMEI number by heart now!I took reference numbers of a couple of the reps but the last one insisted I just had his name and if I didn't get the code within 72 hours to call back and ask for him.......yeah right.call centre ''can I speak to ****'' that's going to happen!I'm really fed up now. I have a lovely phone that I cant use with my Lebara simcard.I am currently in Spain so going into an EE shop is not possible. My account is UK registered as is my simcardI top up by debit card (UK)So I've now been waiting 36 working days.I feel like I'm just being wound up by the call centre people with them keep fobbing me off.Mary

  • Still waiting for redemption code!

I'm a UK user who has since 12th June bought two MacBook Pros.  I was initially glad to see that Apple were providing free upgrades to Mountain Lion from the 11th June, a saving of £20!  But having registered both MBP's (25th July @ 18:00hrs) on the up to date program site and been told I would receive an email with my Mac App Store redemption codes I'm still waiting (26th July 14:15hrs) for the email to arrive.
Having now read a number of other threads it would appear I am not alone!
I'm very disappointed that myself and fellow Apple users have been told it could take 3-5 days for the code to arrive when considering it's an automated process and having submitted the serial numbers and proof of purchase (one being an online Apple Store purchase and the other an Apple Retail Store purchase) it should be a matter of minutes for the codes to be emailed.  Come on Apple, get your act together and get those codes out sharpish to customers who have invested their hard earned money into Apple products only to be let down by slap dash customer service.
This wouldn't have happened if Steve Jobs was still around!!!
At the very minimum get some kind of notice on the "up to date program" webpage stating there are delays and explaining what's being done to sort and a dedicated phone number (not just for the US but all countries) with Apple support people who can help and arrange the manual relaese of the codes.
How about it Apple, step up to the mark!!

    Ivan,
Thank you for your valuable comments!  I don't know what I was thinking when I unjustly maligned a multi-billion dollar organisation like Apple with a history of top quality customer service for making such a balls up of what should have been a simple process.
I have in fact "grown up and chilled out" and paid my £13.99 for a copy of Mountain Lion which is now happily installed on the devices in question.  Let's see what Apple Customer Service say when I ask for my refund.  I very much doubt I will get anywhere but will give it a try!!!
On a separate note please keep your comments coming, I've noticed you've popped up with numerous equally valuable comments in other threads and I'm sure the community values your input!

  • E90 still asking for unlock code after hard reset

I forgot the unlock code for nokia e90 i bought used. it was bought from ireland. so i was searching the forums and i found the *+3+call button+switch on technique to hard reset. the hard reset is complete but fone asks for code and now i am totally struck. please help.

The full reset only resets the unlock code for a few models. Obviously the E90 is not one of them. This means it can only be reset by a Nokia Care Point. You will need to bring proof of purchase/ownership with you.

  • HT1937 Hi thier I'm still waiting for my phone to be unlocked

Hi thier I'm still waiting for my phone to be unlocked

Contact your carrier. Only they would know what the status of your unlock request is. Nobody here would know as we are users like you.
Apple does not unlock phones; the carriers do.

  • Forbidden Screen - Error: "Still waiting for root device"

Greetings to all! I come to you with my boot troubles as a supplicant, in the hope that someone can help.
I have a PowerBook G4 15-inch, pre-Intel from late 2005. Until today it always worked and rarely hanged. All I've ever needed to do when in trouble was reboot. I've updated the Apple OSX software regularly and have never touched the hardware, except once 18 months ago to add memory. All I do with this machine is use it. It's been weeks since I installed any new software.
There were no warning signs before the problem started today.
FIRST SIGN OF TROUBLE: The machine was unusually slow, showing beach balls on every minor move. I powered down conventionally and later turned it on again. After a minute I got the "Forbidden Sign" grey screen, which I had never seen before. So I rebooted, and got that again.
+I turned to the only other available machine (very old PC, unfortunately) to browse for solutions, and have so far tried the following:+
    1) BOOT FROM INSTALLATION DISK: Forbidden Screen. After a couple of attempts I removed the disk (by clicking trackpad on power up). At some point, in desperation, I even tried Disc 2.
    2) RESET PRAM (Command-Option-P-R on power up) : I got three chimes, then the grey screen. It stayed on the apple and gear for many minutes. At least it never went to the Forbidden Screen.
    3) FILE SYSTEM CHECK (Option-S on power up) : After a few steps it shows error messages (see below) and starts repeating, "Still waiting for root device," over and over.
    4) RESET NVRAM (Command-Option-O-F on power up) : I got a blue screen with text and was able to input "reset-nvram" (response: OK) and then "boot." Result: Forbidden Screen.
    5) SAFE START (Option on power up) : Forget it. Forbidden Screen. Same when I try it with "C" as some sites recommend. Same with or without the Install Disk in the DVD driver.
    6) POWER MANAGEMENT UNIT RESET (Shift-Control-Option-Power): Subsequent boot still produces Forbidden Screen.
    *THE ERROR MESSAGES*
Here are some of the messages when I start up with Option-S:
CSRHIDTransitionDriver::probe booting in single user .. do not match

Extension "com.apple.driver.AppleUSBTCKeyEventDriver" has no kernel dependency.

*So now I'm begging anyone for answers to these questions:*
    Am I doomed?
Does anyone know what the problem is?
This seems to be happening prior to disk access, as it happens with or without the Install Disk. So do I still have the hard drive working? Is my data on it?!
Was resetting the Power Management Unit a bad idea?
    What can I do next?
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
    Nicholas from NYC

    Thanks for your reply, Louie!
In the meantime I have succeeded in booting via the Install Disc using Option on power up. The Hardware test shows nada wrong. Disk Util repair goes up to "Rebuilding Category B-Tree" and then fails. Frustratingly, the HD is somehow visible, because the diagnostics correctly identify it and give correct values for empty space. Right now I'm running the Erase Free Space option and it's working - how is that possible? I've gotten into Single User mode and tried various FSCK commands. Sometimes it comes back with the superblock error and "Bad Magic Number" which I believe indicates a corrupted block within the boot sector. I can't figure out how to reassign without reformatting and losing the data. This will cost me a few weeks of data, but really not that much work - still set me back by days.
Next step will be to start taking it apart, as you suggest, starting with the easy matter of trying with just one DIMM or switching the DIMMs.
Thanks again, and if anyone knows how to help - how does one reassign a superblock from the Single User mode?

  • Still waiting for root device

I had an XServ serve that we could not get Profile Manager running after the 2.2 update in Dec 2012. Re tried rolling back various folder  since we have time machine running and backing up to an external Apple RAID.  Eventually I gave up anddecided it was time to restore the whole server from Time Machine.  I booted the XServ up with a 10.8 DVD and Chose "Restore Server from Backup". I then chose one of the full backups it listed. It restored the Time Machine backup.  However, when it boots. I get the Apple logo and then a circle with a slash and a pinwheel. Booting in Single User mode I find it is constantly waiting at " Still waiting for root device" and goes no further.
The internal hard drives in the XServe are a RAID as well as having the external Apple rack mounted RAID connected via a card in the XServe.

See if you can start up in Safe Mode. This will take awhile longer than a normal startup because it does a file check and repair of the hard disk.
If this works you will see your normal desktop. Once completely started up in Safe Mode, try to restart normally, and go to Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility. Click on the top hard drive icon in the left sidebar and note the S.M.A.R.T. status at the bottom right of the pane. What does it say?
Select the named boot volume in the left sidebar, and repair permissions on it.
If you can't start up in Safe Mode, maybe something in this Apple Knowledge Base article will help:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106805
Or it may be time to invest in a disk utility such as DiskWarrior.

The 600 MHz / 640 MB / 20 GB iBook did not want to wake up and after forced shutdown would not start up. grey screen. With MacOS X CD - "prohibition sign", MacOs 9 - no start at all
I had 2 partitions on the HD one with Tiger and other with 9.2.2 - none of them appear in the list of startUp folders. would not go into the Target mode.
I know there are few threads here with similar problem - I went through them but nothing of the suggestions would help.
Did reset the PRAM (only once though) - when I still heard the startUp chime
    Did reset PMU
Left the machine unplugged for about 12 hours
Now I managed to get into single user mode while attempting to start up from a Tiger DVD. Here is what I see on the screen:

iBook dual USB   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

thanx for replying. Last night I finally managed to start up the machine using a FireWire ext HD as a StartUp Disk. Disk Utility and TechTool Pro and Disk Warrior are not showing the internal HD at all.
Since I was not able to use any start CDs including original MacOs X and 9 Cds maybe it is a problem with Data Cable that connects both HD and optical drive with logic board? It is hard to imagine why it would come to something like that. Overheat? I did not have enough free space on Tiger partition - 1GB. Maybe that. I am starting to look for a replacement HD....

  • Invalid serial number for Lion update. How long do we wait for the code ?

I bought iMac on June 27, 2011 from the Apple Store in Nashua, NH.
I went to the page to enter my serial number and get my code for free LION update.
All I get is invalid serial # message.
I filled out the form and I am still waiting...going on second day ???
    MadoneGirl

I know that. I entered my valid serial number but the system that allows for a free update is rejecting
the serial number. You then have to send them a copy of your purchase etc etc.........and they will
email you some kind of code !!!! I am still (along with many others) waiting for my CODE.

  • PANTHER on Wallstreet: "Still waiting for Root device"

I have problems installing panther on my wallstreet with Xpostfacto.
I could install CD1 but it didn't accept CD2 (installer was waiting for the CD2, inserted it, nothing happened)
Then I did a clean install (format disks in OS9, etc), only to find out that now it will not even load the first OSX install CD, "Still waiting for Root device" in verbose mode.
I try to load the CD again, it starts spinning for a second and then seems to stall.
Everything works fine however in OS9: the CD drive and the OSX install CD's
    This is my config:
    Wallstreet G3 233 mhz (M4753) 14,1 inch no USB
    Powerlogix G4/500 upgrade card
OS 9.1 (I can install 9.2.2 if necessary)
Xpostfacto (only option: "PatchedRagePro" to avoid purple video)
    Panther install CD's
If someone could help me out, I'd be very thankfull!!

    Walvis,
Not much to offer but a few suggestions.
With all peripherals removed including PC cards and mouse, I would shut down, then reset the PRAM and startup into 9.x and try XPostFacto again to boot the Panther CD.
If unsuccessful, you might try trashing XPostFacto and reinstalling it; be sure to trash the XPostFacto log in the Preferences folder.
How much installed RAM is present? If you have more than 256MB, consider removing one of the modules, then try your install. For whatever reason, the OSX installer can't deal with more than 256MB of RAM on some Wallstreets although I do believe the use of XPostFacto mitigates this.
The PowerLogix upgrade card may also play a role.
I would head over to the XPostFacto Forums and read about the install issues on the Wallstreet in the Powerbook Forums.

  • "Waiting for time code" while Capture Now

My Sony DSC-TRV 460 (Hi 8 digital, not HD) camcorder (digital video output activated because the tape is an older, analog) is attached w/firewire. Click File > Capture. The capture window appears and its controls do control the camcorder and I can watch the tape w/audio there. According the Help, I set the tape a bit before I want to start, click Play (or spacebar), click Capture Now. This launches a big black window that says Final Cut Express w/Apple logo. At the bottom it says "hit escape to exit," "device must be in VTR mode" and "Waiting for time code." The same camcorder with the same settings brings video into iMovie HD with no problem so I could workaround that way. How to get FCE to do what I want, though?

I've accomplished the task several times with my Sony Digital-8 camera. Since the tape is analog there's no timecode (which iMovie doesn't look for) and you must use the DV Converter setting in easy setup. I think you're right about the on-screen transport controls: you won't have them. (FCE thinks it's just listening to a converter box -- same as if you connected a VCR to the D8's analog ports, assuming the 460 offers that feature.) Try a reboot to clear things out. Turn on the camera then start FCE and check the Easy Setup settings. Use Capture Now and press the 'play' button on the camcorder.

  • 5 months + and still waiting for a phone line

27/05/2013 Placed order for line and broadband. Paid for 1 year service in advance.
This was to reconnect a line I had cancelled in in January as we started a major re-fit/renovation at our house and were out of it for 4 months. Transferred line to a new address at this time (different exchange)
18/06/2013 Engineer scheduled to visit. - Waited in for 6hours, no one turned up, no contact made
19/06/2013 No one got in touch. I telephoned. Problem with line. New appointment made for Monday 15 July 2013
15/07/2013 Engineer did not turn up, no contact made again after waiting in most of day.
16/07/2013 I called and told work on line not completed. They needed to do external work. Given assurance I would get a call on 21/07/2013 as work scheduled to be completed by then. It had been accelerated (had been told this before come to think of it)
    21/07/13 No one called, again
22/07/2013 I called and told work still not completed but would be by 25/07/2013 so to call back and arrange an engineer visit appointment
25/07/2013 I called , told work still not completed, would get a call by 29/07/2013 when work will be completed – to arrange another engineer visit. I filed online complaint
29/07/2013 no call. I called, no update, call again in 2 weeks
Numerous calls in August, and 2 online complaints. Now getting texts telling me there is no update and promising to get in touch by a certain date, they don't. New line needed as exchange reached capacity. Old line no good, have to lay a new one. Still being told order will be accelerated. Still waiting for the "advisor in our delays team to monitor the job and contact the engineers for a full investigation to be done so we can provide you with an accurate update."
Still more calls in September along with numerous calls (me) and 2 from BT to say they have no update!
Still being told the biggest load of rubbish as an excuse, eg me "but I had an active line in January" you "ah that is openreaches fault, they come and physically rip out and remove the wiring if a line is cancelled"   or: BT- "we cant talk to openreach ourselves, we can only email them" me - "that's funny as your colleague on the last call claimed to have spoken
with them after leaving me on hold for 5 minutes"
October. Called today. ( now have a telephone number with a PIN number) Still no progress. They started digging on September 5th according to one email. I asked were they using a tea spoon, they even replied in email NO!
What am I supposed to do now. I am to get an update "tomorrow", but going by all previous updates it will be we will call again in 10 days - the don't. Time spent waiting for engineers -  2 days, time spent on phone/emails etc - 5+ hours.

  • WAITING FOR TIME CODE....again

Hi, when I try to capture from DV device, the capture window appears "PREVIEW DISABLED" I can remote the dv device, mark time code in or out, play tape, pause tape, the time code in the capture window run and is the same taht the tape, but when I do batch capture, cpture clip or capture now, the preview window of catpure says : "WAITING FOR TIME CODE" "DEVICE MUST IN VTR MODE WHEN DEVICE CONTROL IS ENABLED" and when I abort the capture this message apperas: "THIS OPERATION COULD NOT BE COMPLETED AS THERE IS NO VIDEO", Quicktime pro is unabled to capture too, but IMOVIE capture without this problem. I download the firewire sdk from developer connection of apple and use AVCVideo Cap, and no problem for cature, so , my Firewire or dv devices are ok, with DVHSCap I capture PRO HD JVC very well.
Resume , I think there is a problem with quicktime and DV format, My Ibook G4 with FCP 5.0.1 capture from DV devices OK, without problem. If anybody resolved this please comment with us. I work to day with FCP 6.0.4 and quicktime 7.5 and Mac os 10.4.11 and 10.5.4 the problem is afected my PowerPC G5 and my powerbook intel. Another point of interest is that this problem is RANDOM, some times I can capture from DV devices in the first time, some times I can't capture.

    Hey AL
    How ya doin buddy?
"Either way, try an Easy Setup>DV Converter, to match your video standard (Pal or NTSC)."
    Yep - did that
Yes actually my older Sony TVR-310 camcorder IS a digital unit which can also play back analog tapes.
As I'm getting my way around now in FCE, I'm coming to some conclusions in regard to FCE's capture capability.
First let me say that I've also tried capturing some footage in FCE with my other Sony TVR-950, and have had dropped frames, and also breaks in time code.
I thought dropped frames were strictly a PC issue?
Anyway, it appears to me that FCE is VERY sensitive to time code issues NO matter which camera is in the chain.
In fact, I've also read here where folks have a lot of trouble with their Canon GL2's as well. Some of you have even suggested to do your captures in a cheaper Mini DV, or a clam-shell playback machine. This conserves the heads on your GL2 as well.
But why would FCE do better in regard to capturing and time code, with a cheaper Mini DV Camcorder? Perhaps I'm missing something here?
Perhaps iMovie doesn't care about the same issue?
    Now my main question is:
Ok I'll use iMovie6 HD (tried and true), to capture ALL my footage and just save the DV files to be edited later (imported) into FCE.
Does this sound like a viable solution to FCE's time code issues?
Will my iMovie captures be JUST AS GOOD as if they were done in FCE?
    Thanx so much guys!
    Mike

  • Single User Mode: Still waiting for root device

    iMac G4.
I reset the NVRAM, PRAM. It won't attempt to boot from anything but a OS 10.4 cd; booting from OS 9 cd just leaves me at the flashing question mark icon.
If I try to boot from OS X cd, it comes back with the prohibitory sign.
If I try to boot into single user mode, it gives me a bunch of "...."has no kernal dependency lines, then a 'still waiting for root device' line, and repeats that.
Something to the effect before the 'still waiting for root device' is "Waiting on <dict ID="0"><key>IOProvider-Class</key><string ID="1">IOResouces</string><key>IOResouceMatch></key><string ID="2">boot-uuid-media</string></dict>"
    Any help please?

Nevermind...I found out that the hard drive was bad...still puzzles me why it wouldn't boot from CD though, as I thought they all should even if no drive is present.

  • 10.6.8 Netboot - "Still waiting for root device"

    Hi all,
I am having trouble with one particular 10.6.8 Netboot image that is hosted on a Mac Pro running 10.5.8 Server.  (The main 10.5.8 Server is currently hosting about 15 other Netboot and Netrestore images that work with no problem.)  I built the image on a 10.6.8 Server using System Image Utility from a fully updated 10.6.8 restore image on an external hard drive.  The external drive was started up on MacBook, MacBook Pro, and iMac systems ranging from Late '06 to Early '11 revisions.  Software update was run on every startup, but came back fully up-to-date every time and never encountered problems starting up each from the external drive.
I then ran Disk Utility permissions repair on the external drive from the 10.6.8 Server Mac Pro and built the Netboot image in System Image Utility.  Although I am fairly new to this process, I have already successfully built several 10.6.8, 10.7.5, 10.8.5, and 10.9 Netrestore images as well as one 10.9 diagnostic Netboot that all work perfectly.  I followed the same process when creating the 10.6.8 Netboot image.
The image I created, called 10.6.8 Diags 3.0, shows up in the Netboot list, but when I attempt to boot it shows the Apple logo for a bit before showing the "circle slash" symbol.  Verbose mode shows that it hangs when starting and repeats "Still waiting for root device" over and over again and never does anything.
I have rebuilt the 10.6.8 Diags 3.0 Netboot image several times to rule out the possibility of corruption durring image creation.  I have also tried to create the image from a Firewire attached external drive as well as building the data on the external drive into a .dmg on the 10.6.8 Server and then creating the image from that.  All methods of creating the image yeild the same "Still waiting for root device" error when attempting to start up on any system supporting the 10.6.8 kernel.
Netboot settings in Server Admin are the same as other Netboot images that are functioning: enabled, diskless, Intel (grayed out), and NFS.  I have verified that all enabled image index numbers are unique and even tried several different index numbers on the problem Neboot image.
Again, all other Netrestore images I created on the same 10.6.8 Server work just fine when added to the Netboot directory on the 10.5.8 Main Server, but the Netboot image of 10.6.8 Diags 3.0 does not.  I'm not sure what else to try at this point, any ideas?

Ooooh. I've been reading similar pages on cidori.org and just assumed it was one of those. Remarkable how my google searches didn't find that one. Thanks for the pointer, and I'll go try it.
    Thanks again, Dan.

how do a get a refund on a ridiculously slow downloading rented movie for my apple tv dispite a >5mb/sec down load speed? my first experience with appletv movie rental. no good. rented at 4:30pm. still waiting for standard def movie to finish at 8:10pm. Not good enough.

Thanks for the pointers folks. Yeah, 1.5GB is pretty poor isn't it? There are other suppliers, but you have to get a their phone line installed to access the internet so it's an £85 setup fee plus a day off work for a guy to come round and drill a hole in your wall before you even get to the monthly costs.
Don't get me wrong though - I'm certainly not an Apple basher, but am equally frustrated with both them and the ISP.
Virgin Media spend all kinds of money advertising their broadband as the fastest in the UK, but don't tell you (up front anyway) that you'll be cut off if you actually try and use it.
Apple on the other hand carry on with their 'it just works' mantra, but with Apple TV this only applies if you meet certain criteria (again, not mentioned up front).
I guess it aint a biggie, as i was gifted my Apple TV, and love all the other stuff it does, but from the number of posts on this forum can see that there's a lot of angry customers out there who want explanations as to why they're having similar problems to me.
Will be very interesting to see if Apple release any kind of software update that turns the flash drive from a buffer to permanent storage, to at least ease some of the pain...
