Still want to put movies on your ipod? Me too!

Hello,
If many like the other recent buyers of the 5g ipod are still scratching there heads about videos on there ipod- im with you. I installed the videora ipod converter and a dvd decrypter and am still lost- is there a simpler way to put movies on?
Kristina

I don't want too use the easy quicktime export because of it's limited resolution and aspect ratio I have movies of 320X135 and there is no option to modify the template in the quicktime export so adjust that one thing.
"Movie to iPod (320x24)" preset is a "constrained aspect ratio" conversion. This means that the maximum area it can convert to is a 320x240 4:3 aspect ratio display. However if you start with a 640x360 16:9 aspect movie clip, the resulting H.264 iPod ready target file will end up a 320x180 target file which, as you see, is also a 16:9 picture aspect ratio. In other words, this preset will set the width of your target file to 320 and then adjust the height to whatever setting maintains the original aspect ratio.
H.264
320X135
Baseline restriction
Audio 160kbps 44.1khz
Video, 768kbps dual pass
These setting will likely be out of specs in most "action" filled movies or ones shot in most with darkened, spooky scenes. If you check the combined data rate (video + audio data rates) for the target files which will not sync, you will likely find that this number is above the maximum 768kbps allowed for H.264 playback on the iPod.
Lets say I give you a cup and say it will hold 8 ounces of coffee. Therefore, you immediately pour in 8 ounces of coffee. But it turns out that you like cream in your coffee. In fact, you love cream so much that you pour in 2 ounces of cream. Not only that you like sugar added. So you add two teaspoons of sugar and proceed to stir vigorously, spilling a good ounce of coffee. Then you complain to me that your 8-oz cup of coffee contains only 7 ounces of coffee, cream, and sugar. Get the picture? You are trying to put more than 10 ounces of "coffee" into an 8-oz cup.

"Can you put purchased DVD movies that you have on your ipod? "
No.  breaking the encryption in order to copy them illegal.
" what about recorded DVD's that you have? "
    Add them to itunes.

    Hey there,
    - One of the ways to get movies onto your iPod is through purchasing them from the iTunes Store. The prices are $19.99 for new releases, $14.99 for recent releases, and $9.99 for old movies. For renting, I think it's $4.99 for recent releases and $1.99 to $2.99 for old releases. Another source for movies is DVD's. Some DVD's come with a "digital copy", which allows you to transfer that movie onto iTunes and keep to watch. As for illegally getting movies onto your iPod Touch, I do not think it is allowed to be discussed on these forums.
    - As I said previously, you can also get a "digital copy" with some DVD's from the store, so iTunes isn't the only way, and other sites provide fully legal copies of movies for purchase as well.
    - They occasionally have a few "behind-the-scenes" clips for movies and some scenes from movies but I haven't seen them put up a free movie. They do now provide a "$0.99 Movie of the Week" for rental each week though, so I suppose that could count for something.
    - The movies section in iTunes is in the top left-hand corner menu in the iTunes Store, though I do not know if they have the movies option in all countries.
To go more in detail about rentals, you have 30 days to start watching it. Then, after you first hit the play button, you have 48 hours to finish watching it or if you want, watching it again. If you purchase it though, then you, of course, can keep it and watch the movie as many times as you want.

  • How do you get your album's songs to stay together when you put them on your ipod/iphone, when some songs have a ft. artist?

How do you get your album's songs to stay together when you put them on your ipod/iphone, when some songs have a ft. artist?
Even when I try to change the featured artist in my I tunes, it won't stay with my other songs, and I want to be able to listen to my album in the order of the songs that the album has it.

The iTunes/iPod software isn't set up to let you sync songs from more than one libray, but if you manually manage the iPod you can add tracks from multiple computers without removing the existing content. Personnaly I think syncing with a library is a much better way to manage your iPod, so I'd suggest you just copy the stuff you bought at work onto a memory stick, then take it home and import it into your iTunes library there.

  • Still experiencing excessive battery drain on your iPod Touch (after iOS 4)

    Hello folks,
I am wondering just how many of you are still experiencing excessive battery drain on your iPod, after updating your iOS to 4.0 (and beyond)?
If you are, I highly suggest that you submit a report to:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipodtouch.html
... and keep submitting reports until this problem is solved.
Some have suggested switching the iPod to Airplane mode when it is not in use but really, that isn't very acceptable as a permanent solution. The simply act of placing it in standby should be enough... just like it prior to iOS 4.x.
A similar problem crept up on my iPhone 4 (with the release of iOS 4.3) but Apple did promptly solve it with iOS 4.3.1. It would be nice to receive the same consideration for the iPod Touch 2nd gen... OR at least provide a way to go back to iOS 3.1.3.
The following is my bug report to Apple:
    Hardware: iPod Touch 2nd Gen
Since the release of iOS 4.0, the iPod has been unacceptably poor for standby longevity. The battery now drains completely within 24 hours.
Prior to iOS 4.0, the iPod could retain a standby charge for, at least, one week.
In use, with WiFi, 4-5 hours of run-time was typically expected, however, after the iOS 4.0 and subsequent iOS updates (up to the current iOS 4.2.1 (8C148) the run-time is about 2 hours.
There are a lot of iPod users complaining about this problem in the forums. Please solve this problem.

If someone has a suite of apps on their device and Apple pushes an update and then immediately afterward the battery drain starts, then from my point of view, the new OS is to blame.
Your point of view seems to be flawed and not valid.
Apple has no control of 3rd party Apps.
Maybe the older Apps are not behaving properly with the new iOS?
Maybe the 3rd party Apps need an update to comply to the new iOS?
Like I said above, everyone uses different Apps and we have no idea who has what Apps.
Please don't shift the blame, and why won't Apple address this publically or allow a pathway back?
Why do you think Apple needs to address this if you don't even want to try testing things yourself?
    Report your own testing here.
Turning Airplane mode on will start in your testing. If you battery lasts longer, then try the next step like turning the Airplane mode off and turn then off all the Apps that use Push or Fetch. Try and identify the problematic App that might be draining the battery.
I am on my 5th day now and the battery is still FULLY charged.
I have no need for Apple to fix anything.
My suggestion would be to test the things I described above rather than placing the blame on 4.2.1 iOS.
If nothing works, and your battery still drains, then you probably have a defective iPod Touch or battery.
I am certainly not saying some people don't have defective devices or batteries, they just need to do a little more testing to find the problem.
Good Luck and let us know your testing results.

  • How do you put pictures on your ipod nano?? i go to edit i click preferences and after that im so confused, how do you put pictures on your ipod nano?? i go to edit i click preferences and after that im so confused

How do you put pictures on your ipod nano?? i was told to go to edit then click prefereces but after that i am completly lost.

Put all the pictures you want to put on your ipod in one folder on your computer. Then, once you're in itunes, click on your ipod (under the devices section). Once you've done this, click on photos at the top and click on the box beside Sync Photos (so there's a tick in the box). It'll say 'sync photos from .......' and then a drop down bar. In the drop down bar it will probably say my pictures or something, click on that. Then click selected folders (unless you want to put all of your pics on) and then tick the folder you want to put on your ipod. Finally, click sync (bottom right hand corner) - it'll load and then your done.

how do u get movies on your ipod? i hav a 30 gb video ipod, so i can, but i cant figure out how. i've tried looking it up but it says nothing. pls help

First of all what to you mean by Movies? If you mean commercial releases that are issued on DVD, then you have to use software to rip and convert these to an iPod supported video format. There are a number of Windows compatible programs to do this, Video Vault commercial software is one, the free program Videora is another. After that, follow the instructions here to import them to iTunes and your iPod: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/tutorial/ipgettingstartedt12.html

  • How  do you put songs on your ipod with the new itunes?

How  do you put songs on your ipod with the new itunes?

Do you mean remove them from the iPod or transfer them back to your computer? You can't transfer photo's back to the computer with iTunes. To retrieve photos from an iPod try:
    iPodPhotoCopy Windows only
    CopyPodPhoto Windows only
iPod Photo Liberator Mac & Windows
To remove individual photos from an iPod you delete or remove the photo from the folder that you linked to when you set the preference "synch photos from" and update the iPod. For example, if the iPod is getting the pictures from the folder "My Pictures," delete or remove them from My Pictures.
