Stitch lines created when transparency flattened in PDF/X1a export from ID

Has there been any sure fire methods to avoid the digital stitch lines created in a PDF/X-1a due to transparency flattening during export from InDesign? Currently using CC and have done the usual things in an attempt to avoid the lines such as all text above transparent objects on a separate layer and 'Clip-Complex-Region' on export.
Thanks in Advance!

Hi Tony ,
This seems to be an InDesign issue .
Please report the same on the below mentioned  link .

  • Stitch lines created in a PDF/X-1a due to transparency flattening during export from InDesign

Has there been any sure fire methods to avoid the digital stitch lines created in a PDF/X-1a due to transparency flattening during export from InDesign? If I attempt to edit the PDF using the Acrobat Edit Text and Graphics tool the PDF is actually carved into sectors and images are not selectable as a whole. Also contrary to what I have read those white lines do indeed image from time to time. I could export as PDF/X4 to preserve the transparency but on occasion it would be advantageous to flatten it before supplying to the printer. Currently using CC and have done the usual things in an attempt to avoid the lines such as all text above transparent objects on a separate layer and 'Clip-Complex-Region' on export.
    Thanks in Advance!

If the default High Res flattener preset is stitching make a custom preset that's all rasters and use it in the advanced tab of the PDF/X-1a preset

Firefox 19 was just released.  You may want to consider upgrading, then trying again.
Glad to hear IE worked though!

  • Wish to post KeyNote file as pdf. Export from KN to iW not working

Wish to post KeyNote file as pdf. Export from KN to iW not working - get blank screen. Tried to upload PDF to mobile me and link to that file - also didn't work. I'm not familiar with iFrames but have read about them in this forum - is that my only option? Why wouldn't a KN export work?
    Thanks, Brian

I have just tried this with a test site and publishing to a folder and it does work perfectly for me.
I had a Keynote document already so all I did was click on File and then selected the Print option. I then selected the save as pdf option the the pdf document was created on my desktop instantly.
All I then did was open iWeb and type some words in a text box My Prices. I then highlighted My Prices and opened the Inspector and went to Hyperlink and clicked on the option Hyperlink to a file. I then selected the pdf file from my desktop.
I then used ftp to a folder on my desktop and when I opened the appropriate page, I click on the words My Prices and the pdf file opened straight away.
As OT has suggested, check that you have linked to the correct file. If it does not work, either you have not created the pdf correctly or at all or you have not linked to the correct file.
As I said, it worked for me.

  • Why won't Acrobat X Pro honor the margin (art box) from PDF's exported from InDesign CS6?

Why won't Acrobat X Pro honor the margin (art box) from PDF's exported from InDesign CS6?
When I export a PDF from InDesign CS6 with specific margins, Acrobat does not recognize the Art box. (I have PitStop Pro 11 for page box view)

    Thanks Steve,
We are exporting PDF's as you indicate. I see the same thing. The boxes are all the size of the original InDesign document. The PDF art box should be predicated by the margins in InDesign. When we had CS3, this worked great. Now, it seems that there is a disconnect between the two Adobe products honoring the page box size. I have contacted the Adobe techs via chat, and they had no clue what I was referring to. I find it mystifying that Acrobat can not interpret the art box set in InDesign as margins.

  • Can't visualise text on PDF files exported from PS

PDF files exported from PS (levels included as we need them to be selectable) have corrupted text. When opening the saved pdf file, a part of text doesn't appear. It is usually starting from the second chapter of text. Any idea of how to solve this problem?

    Hi Marco,
For now we have only fixed this in CC, but we are aware this problem also affects CS6 users and is a significant problem for many people. At this time, I don't know of any workaround in CS6 for this bug other than to break text up into smaller blocks or use another more text-oriented application like InDesign. While I can't comment on future releases, your feedback on this issue is important to us, and I can say, "there's always hope"...
If you'd like to discuss this further, or send us a file that exhibits the problem, please contact me directly. My email address is my last name @ adobe.com.

  • Strange red line created when generating pdf from illustraot , why? need help to remove this

I have created file in illustrator (CS2 and CS5 no matter which one), then saved it as pdf file.
when I open the pdfs, there is a red line around the slides and I would like to remove it. It's annoying when viewing the slides.
    How do I do this?

Yes, I would try to create a new master document and import the separate files. Even if you have saved all files to CS5.5 spec, there might still be some lingering meta data from the previous version and a fresh import might at least reveal such conflicts or ideally provide a clean slate by dismissing this outdated legacy stuff on import. If you are happy with CS5.5 and everything works, you can get rid of CS3, but I recommend to keep it around, even if you don't use it actively (maening löeave it installed, only deactivate it). Especially the CS3 installer is a fragile creature and a uninstall gone wrong might cause you more trouble than just letting it catch dust on your harddrive. See this article and the other ones related to it on my site for some considerations.

  • How to maintain line size when converting word2007 to PDF?

I use border and shading to make lines. When I converted, the line size just randomly change. The file looks really bad. I have tried lots of PDF printer softweare, but it keeps same problem. Does anyone know how to solve it?

    Hi Jenny,
Please try changing following Preference Setting.
Go to Edit -> Preferences -> Page Display -> Check "Enhance thin lines"

  • How adl lines created when expenditure item is splitted

We are using Oracle Grants Accounting module that is built on top of Projects. When expenditure item is splitted in Expenditure Inquiry form, there are lines created in pa_expenditure_items_all table and gms_award_distributions(ADL) table. Does anyone know how the ADL lines are created by the Expenditure Inquiry form? We try to create a custom concurrent program to do the split without using Expenditure Inquiry form. Thanks a lot.

Look in GMS.pld ... search by PAXTREPE (Expendityre inquiry form name) in GMS.pld.

  • How do I link to Anchor Text from browser to PDF file exported from InDesign?

I see that this question was asked previously but not answered:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3737541
I need a way to link to topics (from an HTML page) within a structured PDF file generated from InDesign, i.e. one that has an interactive bookmarks
panel, that doesn't break the links when the file is updated.
In particular, I don't want to refer to:
    *  page numbers because the document will repaginate when it is updated, breaking existing links
    * named destinations that are numeric as addition/deletion of topics renumbers the named destinations, breaking the links.
Is there any option in InDesign that creates named destinations derived from bookmark titles as that would seem to solve my problem?
I have a similar need, but I have not been able to find an answer anywhere online, even after a several hours of research.
I am on contract with General Electric to develop a UI Style Guide for an international team of developers. My client wants to be able to distribute the Style Guide as a PDF document, but needs to provide links to specific topics when submitting a "Story" in an Agile development environment to the programmers.
Ideally, I would like to be able to create "named destinations" in InDesign such that I can provide the client with a list of URLs similar to this format:
    file:\\StyleGuide\Test1-20131024a.pdf\#nameddest=AnchorText-01
However, I can not figure out how to create "named destinations" in the PDF file from the InDesign file in which I have created the Anchor Text in the Hyperlinks tab.
Alternately, the client would be satisfied with the ability to link to specific bookmarks in the exported PDF file that have been derived from the configuration of the Table of Contents styles, but my research has led me to believe that it is not possible to hyperlink from a browser window to a bookmark in a PDF file (only to specific page numbers, search word lists, named destinations, and comments) as described here: http://blogs.adobe.com/tcs/2011/01/tcs-specific/linking-to-a-page-within-a-pdf-and-more.ht ml
Having been using InDesign since 1988, when it was PageMaker, I would prefer to use it to provide GE with the most attractive deliverable, but they are now leaning heavily toward having me licensed with Madcap Flare, which has this capability built in:
    http://webhelp.madcapsoftware.com/flare9/Default.htm#Nav_Links/Named_Destinations/Creating _Named_Destinations.htm
Please help me to find a solution that will allow me to continue using InDesign for this project.
    Thank you!

Follow-up post (solution is not available):
I have just completed a phone call with Gaurev Sethi of Adobe escalated technical support in which I shared my screen to explain and demonstrate the desire to link from an external URL to a specific location within a PDF file that has been exported from InDesign. After 40 minutes, during which I was placed on hold a few times while he consulted with his team, it was determined that the desired functionality is not supported in InDesign and has been identified as a limitation of the software.
In researching alternate documentation software that supports PDF export, I discovered that Madcap Software supports this functionality in its Flare product:
    http://webhelp.madcapsoftware.com/flare9/Default.htm#Nav_Links/Named_Destinations/Creating _Named_Destinations.htm
Note that linking via URL to a bookmarked location within a PDF is not supported:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/tcs/2011/01/tcs-specific/linking-to-a-page-within-a-pdf-and-more.ht ml
More about parameters that can be specified to open PDF files are available here:
    http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/pdf_open_parameters.pdf
Although the above link is for a previous version of Acrobat, I could find no evidence to the contrary in the current SDK documentation.

  • PDF's exported from ID takes extremely long to print

    Hi,
I'm not sure whether or not this is the right forum to post it in - if not, please direct me to the correct one :-)
I work in the textile business, and our designers create some complex designs (lots of patterns ie.) in Illustrator, which they then "collect" in InDesign to create a sort of overview. These overviews tend to get quite large and heavy, because of all the links.
When we need to print them, we usually export the document to PDF in order to make the printing easier. But for some reason, when we try to print a 30 MB pdf it'll take half an hour and I can see the document size getting bigger and bigger in the print-spooler (sometimes 1,5 GB or more), which can bring our printer to it's knees.
As you can imagine, I'm getting hammered by frustrated designers, that can't understand why it takes such a long time to print the documents.
So, I'm guessing the question is two-fold:
    1. Why do the documents get so large?
    2. Is there a way to avoid it?
Also, if you have any good links that can shed some light on the best way to use Illustrator and InDesign together (to avoid issues like above), I would be thrilled to have them!
    Thanks in advance,
    Thomas

Illustrator patterns create very complex vectors. Unlike images, they cannot be compressed.
However, there you can sometimes remove some size in the PDF using Acrobat Pro's Optimizer feature. Sometimes Illustrator data that is not needed in the PDF can be removed. In Acrobat XI, that is File > Save As Other > Optimized PDF. You can use the Audit Usage to view where the PDF size comes from (which requires some experience to utilize). In the Discard User Data on the left, check Discard hidden data of other applications, and resave the PDF file.

  • Getting message while opening PDF file exported from InDesign

    Hi,
We have created an interactive PDF in InDesign. In this PDF we have created 15-20 pages which are link together and next previous button is provided.
We are using InDesign CS3 and PDF reader 9. PDF is exported for version 8 onwards. Exported PDF is working properly on our machine but our client is receving the following message on their machine if they try to open this PDF (they have PDF reader 8):
"Please Note: You cannot save a completed copy of this form on your computer. If you would like a copy for your records, Please fill it in and print it"
We have not used any kind of form in my PDF only internal page hyperlinks are given.
Attached screen shot is given for your reference.
Is there as way for remove this message so it doen not appear? I would really appriciate if anybody can help me out.
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Regards,
    Deepika

    Deepika,
The alert dialog your screen shot depicts will only display if there is some kind of form annotation present in a PDF that is not "Reader Enabled".
Look closer at your 'final' PDF.
A PDF, not "Reader Enabled", that contains any form annotations will, when opened by Adobe Reader,
result in the alert dialog that you mention. A "hard wired" default.
Note that the forms document message bar can be "off" by a selection in Adobe Reader / Acrobat Preferences.
Select the 'Forms' category. Select "Always hide forms document message bar".
    Be well...

  • Shaded areas on PDF after exporting from Indesign

Hello, I'm working on booklets for work using Indesign. So far most of the information in the booklet have been placed by PDF files. My supervisor sent me another PDF he would like added to the booklet. My problem is when I placed the PDF onto the page it looks fine but once I export the booklet from Indesign to PDF you see shaded areas on the page. This has never happened before and I can't seem to fix it. Does anyone have any ideas?

So the sidebar frame is a native ID text frame? I see two shaded areas inthe screen shot that interect that sidebar, and neither of them seems really related to it in any way.
Are you willing to share the file with me for examination?
Have you tired the standard Troubleshooting 101 steps: Replace Your Preferences and Remove minor corruption by exporting?

  • PDF's Exported from Keynote Printing Very Slowly

My team and I created a text presentation in PPT, imported it to Keypoint, and made a really nice presentation.
We have a simple BG slide, 4 graphs, a few shapes, and mostly text on 39 pages. We've exported it to a PDF that is 1.1 MB, and distributed it to clients.
We've received reports from everyone that it takes 20 minutes to print. There are long delays between each page on seemingly all printers.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?
    Thanks,
    JJ

  • New coverage line created when update item instance

    Hi,
Does anyone know why when I'm performing update item instance (CSI_ITEM_INSTANCE_PUB.UPDATE_ITEM_INSTANCE) somehow it will create a new coverage/contract record?
This item initially is like to a coverage/contract but after perform update item instance it somehow create a new coverage/contract which is identical in most of the column info.
Could someone let me know why and how CSI_ITEM_INSTANCE_PUB.UPDATE_ITEM_INSTANCE would relate to creating coverage/contract ?
    Thanks

    Todd
The issue seems to because this:
    x_instance_rec.inventory_item_id := ib_rec3.inventory_item_id;
You are selecting the item id from your staging table. But the serial number in the csi_item_instances is associated with the instance is a different item id than ib_rec3.inventory_item_id. Hence this error. You cannot change the item in the IB once the instance is created.
You have two choices: comment this out or change the inventory_item_id in staging table to match with the csi_item_instances.
Also a lot depends on what is your serial number uniqueness. If you are using the same serial number for two different items (uniqueness with item_Id) you need to be careful which one you are picking (based on serial number).
    Thanks
    Nagamohan
