Stitching PDF Maps together

I work with large (38 inch x 28inch) Topographical maps. These PDF maps have the Geospatial Location data embedded (possibly as a layer) within which is very handy when out in the field using a tablet and what not.
I am looking for a way to stitch these maps together (6 in total) to form one large map of the region I work in.
I currently use Adobe Acrobat X (Not Pro) and I have access to Photoshop CS3 however after playing with this, I have found after importing and stitching the images together, CS3 will not allow me to export (save as) a PDF and retain the crucial Geospatial Location data.
Any advice would be appreciated.

The ability to edit or register geospatial coordinates in a PDF file is no longer available in Acrobat X, it can only read and display the data in existing documents. Acrobat 9 Pro Extended was the last version to support geoPDF editing and registration. You will have to use third-party GIS software to create and export your geoPDF files, such as from ESRI.
Geospatial data is not supported at all in Photoshop.

  • In Acrobat Professional 8, what is the best way to insert/combine multiple pdf's together in a large

In Acrobat Professional 8, what is the best way to insert/combine multiple pdf's together in a large volume?
We have 300 pdf reports and need to insert a 2 page cover page infront of each report. Not sure if Batch processing is best???
    Thanks for any tips.

Probably each cover page is different too. I would probably just bite the bullet and do each individually. I would create the 2 cover pages in WORD or other word processor and print to cover.pdf. Then open a PDF and Pages>Insert Pages or the cover.pdf to the front of the open PDF and save as to the current PDF. Then repeat 299 times. Each time you would make the appropriate change to the DOC file and print a new cover.pdf file (you might want to turn off open in Acrobat for this processing in the printer properties to save time). Probably a good idea to keep a list of the files to check off what has been done (you can generate a list in DOS by Start>cmd, change the directory to your location [cd path], and do "dir >>list.txt". That will give you a list to use.). There may be an easier way, but by the time you get it figured out you might be done this way.

  • Putting lots of different pictures into different pdf-files together

    hi there,
my boss gave me a tricky task and I dont know how to solve the problem without some help. It's about putting lots of different pictures into different pdf-files together. May be you have some ideas how to succeed. Please excuse my german-laced english.
My task is to merge (or put together) about 4-5 pictures into one pdf. the problem: i have 4.000 pictures. the advantage: the pictures that i have to merge are named pretty similar, it looks like:
    ab_pictures 1
    ab_pictures 2
    ab_pictures 3
    ab_pictures 4
    ab_pictures 5
    cd_pictures 1
    cd_pictures 2
    cd_pictures 3
    cd_pictures 4
    ef_pictu...etc.
    i have to merge ab-picuteres 1-5 to one pdf called "ab_pictures 1", cd_pictures to one pdf called "cd_pictures 1"...
because there are so many picture-groups that i have to merge i was wondering if there is a possibility to automate this task by just telling the programm once what it has to, so it can do it without me sitting next to it, telling it each time what it should do next.
this would safe me a lot (!) of time. Here at my working place there is adobe acrobat reader 9 running, there is also distiller available (I dont know what this appclication is used for).
my question: is it possible to "programm" acrobat that i could do such a task automatically? Or do I have to buy other programms (may be a database-programm or something like that) to be able to it?
thank you very much in advance for your expertise and please excuse my german-laced english.
    regards,
    scoutee1

  • Can I use Elements to save an A0 pdf map as a low res jpeg.

I need to save A0 pdf maps (4 - 5mb) as low resolution jpegs so that it can be downloaded from a website at A0 size. The quality needs to be clear enough to identify names and labels but not so good that prospective purchasers of the map just keep the jpeg. Can this be done in elements and if so what settings should I use. (I initially posted the basis of this question in the acrobat forum but it was suggested to save as jpeg in photoshop which we don't have.)
Thank you for any help you may be able to give.

Yes you can open PDF pages in the Elements Editor (Full Edit or Expert Mode) by selecting individual thumbnails when the document opens unless it’s already a single page.
Then use the menu File >> Save For Web
Choose jpeg format and set quality as low, giving a setting of 10 and check the box for progressive, leaving optimized unchecked. That will produce a low resolution (72) small sized file and the progressive format will aid downloading.
You may receive a memory warning as the A0 size is not normally intended for the web but choose to go ahead anyway.
If you prefer, you can resize the image before you start using the menu:
File >> Resize >> Image Size
Then set your width and height dimensions to 1189mm x 841mm and type 72 into the resolution box. Check the resample box and click OK.

I do have a 2008 version of Microsoft Office installed to save money, but that shouldn't affect things. I can't figure out the "rename" function either. Help?

Oh, and I also reset my NVRAM, my computer hasn't frozen again yet, so I'm not sure if it has made a difference.

  • Printing a 31x220 inch pdf map

I am trying to print a pdf map, 31x220 inches.  It prints just over 100 inches and stops

    Thanks,

Unfortunately, this open source project (Mapping Resources for PDF) has nothing to do with your OCE plotter printing problem. Have you tried posting to the "Acrobat" area of Adobe Forums? See: http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat

Yes, as Bernd suggested you can download Acrobat XI 30 day trial from Adobe.com http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=acrobat_pro&loc=en (Windows) to check if that meets your requirements.

  • Possible to "Stitch" mp4's together easily?

Hopefully this is a relatively simple question.  I'm a long time Premiere user but not a pro by any means.  Very simple edits, no After Effects, no real effects, just straightforward fades and edits of audio and video.
I’ve been having problem exporting a particularly large project.  It’s over two hours long with five UHD sources throughout.  And unfortunately, although my laptop is pretty new and high-end, it’s just a laptop. Nowhere close to a proper desktop based system.  So the last time I tried to export the project, I got to 88% after five days, and then I had a non-Premiere problem that required a reboot.  I’m using the laptop constantly for other stuff, and realistically, trying to process something that intensive for close to a week while doing lots of other stuff isn’t often going to succeed.  I hope to do other similar projects in the future, so I'd rather not bite the bullet and wait, if I can figure out a better long-term approach.
I decided to try to export the project as a series of half a dozen shorter exports of about twenty minutes each.  Those are each taking less than a day, so if I have to do a reboot for some reason, no big deal, I can either wait and do a few hours later, or do it immediately and just re-start the export of the smaller segment.
Now I’m just looking for some advice to stitch them back together.  They’re all at the proper settings for the final full project (h.264 mp4 29.97 progressive 3840x1920) and no further editing will be needed, not even fades between the files.  I have them cut to the exact frames so they can just be attached back-to-back perfectly.
Will an export of these sequential mp4’s at the exact same settings be processed far more quickly than if it was dealing with all the original rendering?  Failing that, is there any other software package that I could buy that would “stitch” everything together quickly without having to re-process everything?
Win8.1, 16gig RAM, 500gb SSD, 2tb HDD for data, nVidia GeForce GTX 870M.
    Thanks for any suggestions!

Ah, disregard this one, I think I've got it figured out.  I know there are lots of freeware programs out there that claim to do what I was looking for, but they all look sketchy and riddled with malware, so I was looking for a more professional product.
But I just discovered that I should be able to do it in Windows 7 or 8 through the command prompt as administrator.  So basic, so easy.  If it doesn't work, I'll get back on here with a follow-up.
    Here's the command structure:
Open the command prompt as administrator.
Copy your files to your C:\ (its easier on the root, can be deleted afterwards)
    copy /b "C:\File.mp4" + "C:\File1.mp4" CombinedFile.mp4

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • Merging 2 PDF documents together causes WINWORD.EXE to crash

When merging 2 pdf files together, it will work 1 out of 3 times. It seems to use WINWORD.EXE to merge the two files together with the help of the PDFMarkerAPI.dll add in. The current version of Acrobat we are using is 11.0.10.32.
    The event viewer reports the following application error when the error occurs;

I have updated Adobe Acrobat to the latest version and performed a repair on the entire Microsoft Office 2013 suite.

It turned out to be the Graphics Driver. Updated it and the problem has gone away. Who would have thought?

  • Can you tag a pdf map

Is it posible to tag a pdf map?

It depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Dave's right about using ALT text to describe the overall map.
What you can do is break your map up into sections the way you'd see a street map, and then give a tag to each of those. In the ALT TEXT for the tag, you could add information like the name of towns or villages in that map segment, roads running through it, ranges of street numbers, and so on. It wouldn't be perfect without a great deal of work, but it would definitely be useful.

  • How to stitch two photos together as panorama

how do I stitch two photos together to form a panorama?

Best way I can think of is to know the dimensions of the two photos, start a PS Touch project that's roughly the additive width of those two photos (e.g. If both photos are about 1000 pixels across, start with a project of about 2000 pixels wide or more), then place each photo on its own layer using the "add image" button (2nd icon from the upper left).
Use the "transform" icon (5th icon from the upper right) to change a layer's size, position, etc. Adjust one layer's transparency while you place them together. Put it back to 100% opacity when done.
When making a panorama, remember to have an overlapping point (usually about 20 to 30%) between the two photos. This makes it easier to stitch.

  • Is it possible to add a number of PDF files together?

I have found a book on Oxford that has not been published and I have the permision of the writers widow to attempt to get it published.  It is in loose leaf format, roughly 400 pages and I have scanned it in OCR and PDF.
The problem with OCR is that it has introduced a large number of erors which will take a long time to correct although it does alow flexability.
The problem with PDF is that I can not edit it and what is worse I scanned it into PDF in five files because I was worried that I may loose the document just as I got to the end.
I know little about PDF although I do have Adobe Reader 7 on my computer so my question is:  Is it possible to connect the five files together or am I obliged to go back to the very begining and scan the whole lot again?

It depends on which version you want. standard runs around $300.00 and Pro for around $450.00.
