STMS - transports get hung on tp import

Hi
There are a number of threads regarding this and I've also looked at OSS note 71353 but so far none have fixed my problem.
When I attempt to import to my new development environment, the transports just hang. There are no entries in TRJOB and TRBAT. I delete the files from stms, kill the tp.exe process from the OS (Windows) but when I add the files back to the import queue and attempt to reimport them, the little truck still appears saying that the import is already running.
I should mention that this new development system was previously the QA system. It is a SAP_ALL client copy of Production. Even when I choose the overwrite originals options for the import of the transport, it still fails.
Any assistance is greatly appreaciated.
Thanks
Conor

hello Connor,
You had delete old tp log files. Further you also need to delete any old entires from import monitor inside stms. Make sure all tp processes are killed as well.
Once this done try importing again. If it works out fine. If not then trying importing the request using TP commands at OS level.
If TP import goes successfully then try importing another request to check if it is fine. Also check if any old import job is running.
There are lots of checks and a number of solutions to this issue.
I have faced this issue a dozen times and solved it in atleast 4 or 5 different ways.
Regards.
Ruchit.

• Upgraded to tiger, mail gets hung up on importing old messages.

I had my pwrbk tuned up and upgraded to Tiger. All files were swept onto a dvd for back up and just plopped back on again after the install. When I click on mail to 'mail' it wants to import my "existing Mail messages into the new version"... so I 'continue' as it requests and (sighhh) it procedes to import (sighhh) my 4500 or so (who's counting) messages. It gets hung up on #1363 (which I believe is in the 'sent' folder) and the time remaining keeps increasing...- I mean - I gave it a chance - the battery (brand spank me new) ran all the way down AND we plugged it in too ... it happens every time. How to bypass this import without deleting all my old emails and just excise the offending hanger-upper?

The conversion from Mail 1.x to Mail 2.x is broken. Even if Mail didn’t freeze while importing, there is no guarantee that it would import the old mailboxes successfully. Take a look at the following thread for an example:
Just upgraded, Most of my old Inbox is gone!
You could apply the procedure described there to the mailboxes that Mail appears to be choking on. Alternatively, you could move the entire account folder out of ~/Library/Mail/ (to the Desktop) and manually import its mailboxes afterwards as Other.

• STMS Transport Route Administration - Import Targets not modifiable.

Hello.  I'm trying to configure cCTS for use with CHARM.  I have created my system clusters and defined a consolidation and delivery route for the clusters.  Now when I double click on my clusters in edit mode and navigate to the Import Targets tab, I am not able to modify this tab.  I have been following the cCTS for CHARM and QGM Configuration guide.

Thanks Jessica
I'm also working with OSS SAP Support now to try and resolve my issue.
In short I can some up the problem and testing completed so far.
<b>To Start:</b>
The Server group removed old QA server from our SAP Landscape, therefore STMS Transport Route required rebuilding.
<b>Systems:</b>
We have a very complex system setup with SAP R3, CRM and BW systems. Each system has it's own server (Dev = R3D, CRD & BWD, QA Testing is now = R3T, CRT & BWT, Production = R3P, CRP & BWP) The Original QA servers are now being removed (R3Q, CRQ & BWQ)
CRD is the Transport Domain Controller, with transport bins located on CRD for R3D & BWD, CRT for R3T & BWT and CRP for R3P & BWP. (Firewalls and Server locations are the root cause for the different Trans Directories)
<b>Transport route:</b>
Transport route for SAP R3 was: R3D -> R3Q -> R3T & R3P (in a delivery group). The new Transport Route needs to be R3D -> R3T -> R3P.
<b>Main Problem now:</b> With the Transport Route configured like R3D -> R3T -> R3P, any new transport requests created in R3D moves to the R3T Import Queue automatically when the transport is released. Once the transport is successfully imported into R3T, it should automatically be added to the R3P Import Queue, but does not.
<b>Present work around:</b> I've reconfigured the Transport route to R3D -> R3T & R3P. Any tranport request once released, is successfully added to both the R3T & R3P Import Queues.
I have checked all SAPService<sid> OS users and passwords, ensured that the TMSADM user was recreated and working on each of the systems,  used telnet to log onto each of the servers from each of the other servers at the OS level (to ensure it's not a landscape firewall security issue), I've also checked all RFC connections in the same manner (to ensure each system can reach the others), recreated the route from R3T to R3P as both a Consolidation and a Delivery type of route,
I will post any resolution found later.
Thanks for the help anyway

• Lightroom (4.1 and now 4.2) getting hung up opening catalogs

Ever since I upgraded to 4.1, Lightroom has been often unable to get past opening up a catalog. I use Windows 7 64 bit and have 12 GB RAM and several TB of HDD space. While I never had the lag time issues others complained of until recently, getting Lightroom 4 to work well has been a horendous chore. I can start 4.1 in a reasonable amount of time while in safemode, but back in full Windows mode, with all appropriate drivers running, Lightroom will open a catalog and essentially get stuck. I have to resort to shutting down, restarting in safe node, starting up a catalog in LR, optimizing it, and try again when I return to normal window
I've figured that it was a driver using resources, and when I paused a process being run for my OKI printer, (a new network printer and the last one added before the software became constipated), and voila, the program is back to its reliable and fast starting self. Since I only use that printer rarely from this computer, I've decided to live with this work aroud. I use StartEd Pro to alter my startup and system processes, so its not that difficult to do. I hopedthat I've truly found the glitch., but no.
Using task manager and looking at the wait chain, i.e., what lightroom is waiting for and getting hung upon is SVCHOST.exe (RPCSS).
As before, safe mode allows me to open Lightroom properly and open the catalog. I also tried siagnostic startup and selective startup to no avail. I did get Lightroom to work briefly and was ableto update from 4.1 to 4.2, hoping that this would alleviate the problem - but of course, it hasn't.
Lightroom is critical to my whale and seal photo-id work and I need to get it up and running again.  Please help!
Artie

Ian,
Thanks, I'll look into thagt.  In the meantime I tried something a bit different.  I started a new catalog as a test and it opened fine.  I then imported one of my previous catalogs (a small one)  and it imported fine, will all metadata intact, and opened fine as well.
I tried this again with my large catalog (26000+ images) and got an error message stating that the catalog hadn't been closed properly or was being used... UGH.  I went back to safe mode and opened that catalog, optimized it, backed it up and will try again later, particulartly if I can't fix the SVCHost issue.
Right now, it's back to being a professor and grading student papers (alsmost as distrurbing sometimes as having to fiddle with Lightroom).

• Since Maverick, safari gets hung up

I updated my late 2009 IMac with Maverick in late December.  It continues to get hung up in Safari after 2-3 webpages.  I have used Glims Unistall over and over again as suggested  in numerous posts to no avail I continue to get a frozen page in Safari.  I shut down, empty caches, reset Safari and nothing seems to work.  Wondering if Apple is going to have a permanent fix for this problem.  I don't think I am the only one.  I've also gone through the step process(new user, safe mode and normal) and posted the results. (Continues to get hung up at all steps along with 4-5 pages (pop ups) opening in the background when in safe mode).  If anyone has come across a fix, since it doesn't looks like Apple is(this is enough to consider going to PC...yuchhhh). I had to write this on my IPad....Safari stalls on first page now!

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) on the advice of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

• FCPX 10.1 gets hung up when upgrading library on Thunderbolt drive.

Anyone having issues upgrading libraries on external media?  I had 2 libraries upgrade fine but a FCPX is getting hung up when upgrading a library on a Thunderbolt drive.

On the contrary -  I never worked with versions of FCP prior to X so it is not a legacy left over for me.
Backup was never a problem,  good directory and backup management is actually easy.
Advantage,  events on a slower storage drive  as this is typically only referenced media and do not change that often after import.  Backups are very fast using this as the contents does not change (like all the original media)  That which does change is typically very little to refresh in the backup of this drive.
Projects on a faster drive where all the rendering files and other output files are placed.
Worked like a charm.
Now backups are going to be much slower, because having everything in one file means that as soon as you touch the library it is stale and the entire contents (both projects and events) must be included in any refresh backup.  These larger files take time to backup.
Not complaining, just explaining why having them split worked so well with some good directory management.

• Menu gets hung up

In the attached file, for some reason, when the menus drop down, they frequently get hung up.  (stay down, slow to move back up into the hidden position, etc.)
I really need to correct this as this will be the main website for our school district and I need it to look professional.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Ooops, i was looking at the end of the timeline, didn't know i could scroll left to see frame 1. I'm not sure exactly to as why the Mouse out event listener is slow on capturing a mouse out event. If you do a slow mouse out it works while doing it fast it cannot capture sometimes. I revised your code to use the ENTER_FRAME instead and do a check if the mouse goes beyond the Rect area a mouse out and it yields perfect results.
Replace frame 1 with this code instead:

• IDVD won't burn, gets "hung" half way through

I've read all the postings, done what everyone has suggested. I have used brand new DVD-Rs, have plenty of space, and still my project of slide shows (no movies) gets "hung" at about 230 slide encoding/transitions. Help!!!!

I noticed iDVD 5 moving awfully slow encoding a movie imported from iMovie, acting hung up at times. This was the first movie I've done on OS 10.4, I'd done a few before on 10.3, and it went much faster. I thought perhaps some background process not part of iDVD was taking up too much memory/cpu/whatever, so I opened Activity Monitor to see what was doing what. I found two instances of Media Server, both apparently still running, but only one using any resources (other than some memory). And Encoder Server was shown "Not Responding", so I force quit that, it restarted and appeared normal.
I don't know why these things happen, but quitting them thru Activity Monitor seems to fix the problem & let iDVD move along some better. Now I watch the My Processes list every time iDVD starts up & begins processing; there's not always any trouble, but more often is than not. And it doesn't seem to repeat as iDVD continues, rather it only shows up at the beginning. After the first few minutes I quit Activity Monitor & things seem to continue along OK.
While this doesn't seem the ideal fix, as I don't even know why it happens, this does seem to make some difference.
Anyone have any idea why?

• Transcoding gets hung up and never completes

Imported 10 GoPro files.
Selected all and started Trancode Media .... Create Optimized
Checked background monotir window and all was going well.
Went to sleep dreaming about the vid I'd put together the next day.
Got up and FCPx was hung on the second file.  0% CPU utilization.
Any clues/comments/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Any ideas what is going on with FCPx and why it gets hung up and stalls when transcoding Proxy Media?
Just to point out…your original posts said FCP got hung up creating optimized media, which is Pro Res 422, not Proxy. My guess is that FCP would have been equally unhappy transcoding to optimized or proxy.
The idea of transcoding beforehand was to suggest a more reliable workflow, since FCP isn't always very happy dealing with MP4. If you do this process in Compressor or Streamclip the size of the files you create will be no greater than had they been created by FCP.

I have downloaded 10.5.8 combo several times and cannot get it to install because the disc won't mount or the installation gets hung up after restart. My current os is 10.5.1, and I am trying to upgrade to snow leopard. This is on a dual core macbook pro.

You don't need to update to Leopard 10.5.8 unless you want to keep Leopard. Upgrading to Snow Leopard requires that your purchase the retail install disk.
The following covers Leopard:
Some general advice on updating:
It is worth noting that it is an extreme rarity for updates to cause upsets to your system, as they have all been extensively beta-tested, but they may well reveal pre-existing ones, particularly those of which you may have been unaware. If you are actually aware of any glitches, make sure they are fixed before proceeding further.
So before you do anything else:
If you can, make a full backup first to an external hard disk. Ideally you should always have a bootable clone of your system that enables you to revert to the previous pre-update state.
Turn off sleep mode for both screen and hard disk.
Disconnect all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
1. Repair Permissions (in Disk Utility)
2. Verify the state of your hard disk using Disk Utility. If any faults are reported, restart from your install disk (holding down the C key), go to Disk Utility, and repair your startup disk. Restart again to get back to your startup disk.
At least you can now be reasonably certain that your system does not contain any obvious faults that might cause an update/upgrade to fail.
3. Download the correct version of the COMBO update from the Apple download site.
The Combo updater of Leopard 10.5.8 can be found here:
http://support.apple.com/downloads/Mac_OS_X_10_5_8_Combo_Update
If you prefer to download updates via Software Update in the Apple menu (which would ensure that the correct version for your Mac was being downloaded), it is not recommended to allow SU to install major (or even minor) updates automatically. Set Software Update to just download the updater without immediately installing it. There is always the possibility that the combined download and install (which can be a lengthy process) might be interrupted by a power outage or your cat walking across the keyboard, and an interrupted install will almost certainly cause havoc. Once it is downloaded, you can install at a time that suits you. You should make a backup copy of the updater on a CD in case you ever need a reinstall.
Full details about the 10.5.8 update here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3606
More information on using Software Updater here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24901?viewlocale=en_US
Using the Combo updater ensures that all system files changed since the original 10.5.0 are included, and any that may have been missed out or subsequently damaged will be repaired. The Delta updater, although a temptingly smaller download, only takes you from the previous version to the new one, i.e. for example from 10.5.7 to 10.5.8. Software Update will generally download the Delta updater only. The preferable Combo updater needs to be downloaded from Apple's download site.
Now proceed as follows:
4. Close all applications and turn off energy saving and screensaver.
5. Unplug all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
6. Install the update/upgrade. Do not under any circumstances interrupt this procedure. Do not do anything else on your computer while it is installing. Be patient.
7. When it ask for a restart to complete the installation, click restart. This can take longer than normal, there are probably thousands of files to overwrite and place in the correct location. Do nothing while this is going on.
8. Once your Mac is awake, repair permissions again, and you should be good to go!
If your Mac seems slightly sluggish or ‘different’, perform a second restart. It can’t hurt and is sometimes efficacious! In fact a second restart can be recommended.
9. Open a few of your most used applications and check that all is OK. In this connection please remember that not all manufacturers of third party applications and plug-ins, add-ons, haxies etc, will have had time to do any necessary rewrites to their software to make them compliant with the latest version of your operating system. Give them a week or two while you regularly check their websites for updates.
N.B. Do not attempt to install two different updates at the same time as each may have different routines and requirements. Follow the above recommendations for each update in turn.
Lastly, Apple's own article on the subject of Software Update may also be useful reading:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106695
If you are updating Safari (or just have):
Input Managers from third parties can do as much harm as good. They use a security loophole to reach right into your applications' code and change that code as the application starts up.  If you have installed an OS update and Safari is crashing, the very first thing to do is clear out your InputManagers folders (both in your own Library and in the top-level /Library), log out and log back in, and try again.
So, disable all third party add-ons before updating Safari, as they may not have been updated yet for the new version. Add them back one by one. If something goes awry, remove it again and check on the software manufacturer's website for news of an update to match your version of Safari.
Most errors reported here after an update are due to an unrepaired or undetected inherent fault in the system, and/or a third party add-on.
Additional tips on software installation here:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106692
To reiterate, Input Managers reach right into an application and alter its code. This puts the behavior of the affected application outside the control and responsibility of its developers: a recipe for  problems. That's not to say that issues absolutely will ensue as a result of Input Managers, but you, as a user, must decide. If the functionality of a specific Input Manager or set thereof is really important to you, you may well choose to assume the associated risk.
Again, the advice is to remove all Input Managers from the following directories:
/Library/InputManagers
~/Library/InputManagers
especially prior to system updates (they can always be added back one-by-one later).

Can you open the Preview program without loading a file, like by itself?
If it doesn't load then I suspect a corrupt Preview preference file.
Deleting the System Preference or other .plist file
Can you open other files with Preview, like jpg's and images?
How about other PDFs? or is it just that one you have downloaded?

• Is there a way of getting Firefox to automaticly import the Explorer settings upon install?

Hi!
I'm trying to repack Firefox 3.6.3 into a MSI for a deployment install trough-out our organization. Since we're using Explorer as the default browser at the moment our users have all their bookmarks and such stored in Explorer. Now I'm wondering..
Is there a way of getting Firefox to automaticly import the Explorer settings upon install?
-Without having the wizard popup.
I also don't want Firefox to be the default browser since the users have to decide for them self. But atleast they have there bookmarks / defaultpage and proxy settings if they decide to go for Firefox.

I'm not sure if you have the capability, but did you try copying from your premiere sequence and then pasting into your after fx timeline? i was working with a MUCH shorter video with a mix of merged clips (interview footage) and video clips (b-roll). the video clips imported, but the merged clips did not. i put the timeline cursor to the right point in the after fx timeline, copied the premiere clip from the sequence, pasted it into after fx.

Julian,
Pages simply won't support a table with that many rows. If you need that many, you must use another application.
Perhaps the originator could use a tabbed list rather than a table. That's the only way you will be able to contain a list that long in Pages. You can do the conversion yourself if you open the Word document in LibreOffice, Copy the Table, Paste the Table into Numbers, Export the Numbers doc to CSV, and import to Pages. In Pages Find and Replace the Commas with Tabs.
There are probably other ways, but that's what comes to mind here.
