Stock as on Date
Hi experts,
Stocks keeps on changing. We are in the processing of making Inventory Ageing Report. Please let me know the tables and fields where month wise stock is residing. I have tried table S032 , field MBWBEST but this table gives me correct stock figure only.
Suggestions / Solutions will be highly rewarded & appreciated.

Storage location wise Opening/Closing Stock on posting date (mb5b)
Hi,
Report mb5b gives opening stock and closing stock as on date. In the selection screen, if we do not enter specific storage location then the opening/closing stock is displayed as sum of all storage location stocks for a given material.
Where as if we enter storage location, it gives storage location specific output. (with Storage loc/batch stock radio button)
My requirement is - without entering storage location in the initial screen, the system should display storage location specific opening/closing stock.
To get this, presently I need to execute mb5b transaction individually for every storage location.

This report you can have in T code MC.6 and another t code for opening and closing stock in t code MC.9

Table to see stock on particular date
Hello SAP Gurus,
I know that through mb5b report you can see the stock on posting date.But guys can u tell me that from which table and field it takes the data?Please look at transactions MCBE and MCBR. They are part of the inventory standard analysis. These will show total consumption for the selected time periods.
There is a ton of data availablie via the Logistics Information System and I think it is the most under utilized functionality in SAP. If consultants and users really learned how to use this functionality you could probably do away with 80% of your custom reports.
You can also use flexiblie analysis against structure/table S032, (not S039), and create your own analysis and reports. These can be highly customized and saved and reused. Variants can be created and the results can be saved in personal reports, emailed or downloaded.
Other structures you might find of use in your particular query would be
S031 - Movements
S032 - Stocks
S033 - Movements (indiv. records)
S034 - Movements (batches)
S035 - Stocks (batches)
S039 as suggested above provides primarily averages which is not what your looking for.

IN MB5B THERE IN NO FIELD WITH GL AND IN MB5B THERE IS NO POSTING DATEHi,
There is a posting date in MB5B !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The whole point of MB5B is to give you the stock on a posting date.
The field is called "Selection date".

Hi experts,
For a material XX which was zero stock on 15/11/2008.Goods receipt(MIGO 101) done on 15/11/2008 of qty 100kg. So stock was 100kg. I have issued material XX of qty 75 kg to cost center and entered posting date 3/11/2008. My system allowing me to issue that material on 3/11/2008 without any warning or error msg. But at that there was no stock. So that if i check the report MB5B stock on posting date my closing stock showing in negative for 3/11/2008. Our requirement is how to stop this back dated posting? System should not allow me if i am posting on back date?

I have checked all settings also enhancement but there is no as such control to restrict backposting within current period
I think its self disipline action not to post backdated GI when GR is done on later date

I have followed the OSS notes 194788
Only enter the selection criteria which are required for the selection of the stock management unit for which the opening stock balance and closing stock should be determined.
In MB5B I key in selection criteria which are :
material number : xxxxxx
company code : 1000
plant : 1500
batch : xxxxxx
special stock indicator : orders on hand
selection date : 01.08.2009 to current date
stock type :special stock
and the result comes out :
there is initial balance of 3000 kg on 01.08.2009 - INCORRECT ( our team never enter this initial balance but still came out )
therefore the stock of current date also WRONG
if the total stock is adjusted using stock take , the accounting journal will be created, and reduce the financial asset with the same amount of 3000 kg (WRONG EFFECT)
how to solve this issue without affecting the accounting journal ?

To see the scheduled quantity & delivered quantity use table EKET with the filed names MENGE & WEMNG.

Good day. I am developing an ALV report that will show opening stock(LABST) as well as closing stock(Calculated) for a range of date and materials. Problem here is that from MARD table I am getting only the last opening stock, because it has no common date field with MSEG table. So, I have to calculate the opening stock as the closing stock of previous date. How can I calculate this? Is there any FM to get the opening stock ?

(ie. there is a record for May if a movement happened in June, and none for June if there was no movement in July, and no record exists for August as this is current period) - First look for MARD, MARDH records; and then only read MKPF/MSEG from last MARDH record found. Restrict goods issue if stock on posting date is zero
Requirement:
Current Inventory period : July 2011
Stock of a material from 01.07.2011 to 30.07.2011 is zero(in MB5B report)
I upload stock of material or GRN occur on 31.07.2011. Say Quantity u2013 100
Now stock as on 31.07.2011 is 100 in MB5B
Still, Stock of a material from 01.07.2011 to 30.07.2011 is zero(in MB5B)
Now, If I do goods issue of a material quantity 100 on 15.07.2011. System allows goods issue. though opening and closing stock as on 15.07.2011 is zero.
After goods issue transaction if I check stock of material on any date between 16.07.2011 to 30.07.2011 , The opening stock and closing stock shows negative.
I want to restrict goods issue if stock on posting date is zero or less then stock available on posting date.

This is not the way SAP is designed. As the previous speakers wrote (and as you noticed yourself), SAP maintains stock figures in the database per month rather than per day. MB5B makes complex calculations in order to find out how much stock you had on a specific date - as you probably noticed on the response time. Performing such calculations every time you do a GI would be unfeasibly heavy task for the system - remember there are organisations that perform hundreds of inventory movements a minute!
An alternative solution I suppose would be to maintain the daily stock figures in the database. This would make the finding of the stock figure very quick, but on the other hand, the maintenance of such table would be unfeasible - if you post today a GI on say July 1st, you would need to calculate 36 stock figures and update 36 database records!
Hope this explains the technical issue.

MB5B uses a list of tables & logic to get the Stock for a particular posting date.
if you want the stock run this report in your Z- report & export the Values to your Z-report & use them accordingly.
