Stock Droid 4 - Fastboot Flash mode (s) (Boot Failure) screen

Stock phone, and sick of booting to this screen.  I work at a place where it is absolutely mandatory to have phones off unless in a specific area, so I see this daily.  This is my 4th Droid 4, and the 3 replacements have all been "recertified" devices that have all been rubbish.
So, my NEW phone never had this problem, the 2nd one did.  the 3rd one didn't but this one does it too.  Amongst my GPS not working on the phone, this is another kick in the teeth.  Is there any rhyme or reason that this screen shows up on a stock phone?  I have only read about it for those who are rooters.

What have you done to try and fix the issue? Since it's not working, maybe try factory resetting the device? Since it is a CPO sometimes they don't quite wipe the phone.. If not worst case scenario is another replacement, unfortunately, but you can keep trying until they get it right!If indeed the replacement doesn't work, (If you opt into this option for the last time) I would suggest calling tech support and requesting a different device, I've seen it done before and it's usually after the third replacement. BTW They will try to troubleshoot the device so be sure to do that, take out the battery for 15 seconds, put it in, then if that doesn't work factory reset it, if in fact that doesn't work get one more then change devices, I've had 6 phone replacements before.. I know how you feel.

    I have a Droid Razr (Not Maxx) and it is NOT rooted. I was taking pictures with it and it turned off on me. When I turned it back on, I got this message:

    I want to know if it's possible to to get my pictures and videos out of my phone in this condition. I did not use an SD card. Any help would be great. Thank you in advance!

    Press the power off button and reboot your phone.  Should be back to normal after re-starting.  Hope this helps.

  • EMMC lfash, phone wont boot into flash mode

    Hi All
    I Just reflashed my N900 to
    RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1.203.1_PR_COMBINED_203_ARM
    and wanted to clear it completely by flashing
    RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM
    Though the first 1 flashes just fine, but the vanilla file wont flash.
    I entered this command
    flasher-3.5 -F RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R
    It detects the device, then it says "booting device into flash mode"
    But then nothing happens anymore, phone does not show usb icon anymore
    And i just see
    flasher v2.5.2 <sep 24 2009>
    Image 'mmc', size 255947 kB
    version RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA

    Found device RX-51, hardware revision 2101
    NOLO version 1.4.14
    Version of 'sw-release': RX-51_2008SE_10.2010.19-1.203.1_PR_203
    Booting device into flash mode
    Suitable USB device not found, waiting.
    Can anybody explain me why it wont do this?
    EDIT: Tried a few times to start over.
    Sometimes it reboots, and i see the low power mode 5fots moving.
    Then after a few seconds, it freezes on the 2nd dot.

    first thing.. did you reboot the phone after flashing the COMBINED file?
    second thing.. it could be a windows problem.. flashing on windows seems to cause problems for some people.. and in different ways.
    Here's what to try:
    flasher -F RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1.203.1_PR_COMBINED_203_ARM.bin -f
    (note that there is no -R option on that line)
    then after that has flashed, don't disconnect the phone.. or do anything else and run this:
    flasher -F RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R
    (This time with the -R option)
    If you reboot/restart your phone between flashing the two images, you could face problems..
    If you're still having problems, I'd investigate using vmware or "Linux on a USB stick" to flash.. there are some howtos on here I can point you at.. it's not as bad as you'd think

    OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?

  • Macbook won't boot, Blue Screen in Safe Mode

    Having a couple of issues at the moment. To start off, woke my MacBook from sleep mode and found the screen had shimmering edges, the screen was also displaced (part of the left of the screen was showing on the right. Decided to reboot to solve the issue, when I tried this, got past the Apple logo and wheel, then got a blue screen. Now when I boot, I just get a white screen Tried booting in safe mode but ended up with a blue screen with streaks.
    On top of that when I went into support, my macbook isn't listed under my products and when I tried to enter it in, it said it was under a different account (I did get it through a college course but It was definitely registered under my name and with my account).
    Can anyone shed some light on this, or have any suggestions?

    Actually, just get a blue screen when trying to start up normally

    Hi V.K., I followed the reset steps for PRAM and the problem still exist. Could this be the battery's problem? BTW, my laptop is still fairly new, got it in December.

  • How do I fix the GRAY boot-up screen with FLASHING QUESTION-mark FOLDER?

    When I turn on the MacBook Pro laptop, I opened up the Safari Browser and its when the problem started. It was stuck on an loading infinite loop. I decided to force quit the application and/or turn off the mac by the Menu options, It did not work. So I did a "Hard" Shut-down and restarted the Mac, the Boot up screen stood gray for like a minute until the Flashing ? Folder icon showed up!.
    My sister's laptop's warranty is expired so I wonder how can I fix it without having to spend too much money on a simple troubleshooting tip.
    How can I download/create a boot-up Disk/Flash Drive so I can reset it to factory settings?
    I cannot access the laptop because It's kind-of software bricked if you ask me. Also, I do not know how to check the Mac OS version outside of the "About Mac" menu. I do have another Mac which is a desktop computer with a CD drive.
    I would appreciate some expertise on this issue a.s.a.p. Thank you!

    Ok, now I am stuck:
    Why does my Mac boot its OS from the Flash Drive instead of the INTERNAL HARD DRIVE???a
       If I start up my MacBook Pro, It will have the flashing question mark folder UNLESS i plug in the OS-Boot flash drive. When I at the desktop screen and work on a program, When I unplug the Flash drive, THE OS WILL CRASH AS IF I TOOK it's soul (OS x Lion) out of the body (MacBook Pro Laptop)
    this is frustrating because when I did the INTERNET RECOVERY, When I install OS x Lion, the Flash Drive only show up as an option as opposed to the HDD.
    I cannot format the hard-drive in DISK UTILITY because it's grayed out. This is just frustating. I never had problems with PC Windows OS recovery but this (Mac OS).

  • Not able to access Safe Mode nor boot off of Tiger DVD

    I am running an iMac with Tiger 10.4.11. After doing an update of software I cannot boot. I have not been able to access Safe Mode or boot off a Tiger DVD. With DVD inserted I wait till I hear the bong noise then I press the letter C. It thinks for a few seconds then spits the DVD out. I am able to see the contents of the DVD when I insert into my PowerBook running Leopard. This DVD is not the same one that was used to install Tiger. The Tiger DVD is in excellent shape.
    I have reset the PRAM.
    I was able to access Single User Mode. I ran /sbin/fsck -fy and it found no problems.
    I was able to access the iMac in Target Disk Mode. I deleted .plist files that were dated on July 2nd, the last day it worked. But when I restarted it I received the same response. Apple icon with a spinning circular wheel.
    I deleted the following files:
    * com.apple.kernelcaches (a folder in /System/Library/Caches)
    * Extensions.kextcache (a file in /System/Library)
    * Extensions.mkext (a file in /System/Library/)
    * com.apple.ATS (a folder in /Library/Caches/)
    * com.apple.loginwindow.plist (a file in /Library/Preferences/)
    * Files that start with com.apple.LaunchServices (in /Library/Caches)
    Is there any thing else I could do in Target Disk Mode that would be helpful?
    Any suggestion on how I might be able to fix this problem would be appreciated.
    Thank you for looking.

    Well, kicking out the Disk on boot is generally one of two things... bad optical, or the HD Driver munged early on.
    If the Power book boots off that Install Disk, I'd put the iMac into Target mode, try an Archive & Install, which gives you a new OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc...

  • How to use a target disk mode to boot my iMac

    My iMac won't boot up. I think its HDD is dead . Is there a way for me to use target disk mode to boot from my laptop HDD so that I can rescue my iMac HDD?

    If both computers have a FireWire or Thunderbolt port, yes, but you're probably better off putting the iMac in that mode instead of the laptop.

  • The screen of my iMac flashes green during boot-sequence, then returns to normal.

    During the boot-sequence the screen of my Imac 27" flashes green (once), then returns to normal. This does not happen when I boot my Windows (Bootcamp) partition, so I assume this is some kind of OSX driver error. This started to happen only after I installed the latest patch (10.9.3). Did anybody else encounter this and/or knows how to get rid of it ?

    Hey fumanchu,
    Did a small google search and found the following:
    http://www.likelyanswer.com/28020629/My-Macbook-Pro-Had-A-Flashing-Red,-Blue,-Gr een-Screen-At-Startup
    which lead me to:

    which lead me to:

    Basically reset the PRAM.
    Worked for me hope it works for you buddy. I did it due what the first link said "might be user abuse to the display". doesn't sound good.

  • N79 Camera is not working good in Auto Flash mode.

    Hello,
    N79 phone which I bought last sunday, camera in falsh on mode takes photo with some greenish effect. while without flash mode it is doing good. It alse capturing video with greenish effect. please help me.
    Thanks in Advance,
    ajit

    There is a physical design flaw in the flash/lens housing of the N79, a small gap allows light from the flash directly onto the lens causing a white "shadow" on images taken in low light.
    I've physically blocked this gap with some opaque glue but it seems from what i've read on these forums that Nokia tried to hide the problem by using software compensation in the later firmwares. Now all my flash photo's come out darker than they should be, they look quite nice when the flash is on during focusing but once the image is processed it looks bad...
    Best solution i can think of is block the gap and use older firmware, unless Nokia is gonna make a special firmware version for people who tried to fix their design flaw as best they could.
