Hi Satya,
If you are in productive system and has ensured that all the goods movement postings have been correct with respect to stock and serial numbers, you have to reassure the GR and GI and run a physical inventory to correct the mismatch.

How to change serial number with existing one

dear all,
Our user create 2 different serial number with same material. let me say A and B. A is the correct serial number but fault historical. and B is the fault serial number but correct historical. The question is can we change the serial number, A with B and still got the correct historical from B

if both the serial number are present in stock & are assigned to a wrong material in this case what you can do is :
Issue goods through movement 201 alongwith the existing serial numbers (mismatched) against a cost center & GL (Stock Adjustment)
Receive goods through movement 202 with correct Serial number a cost center & GL (Stock Adjustment).
eg. in your case :
Document 1 with movement 201 to remove mismatched Serial number :
Material-- Serial Number-----Qty
A-- 1--
1
B-- 2--
1
Status of both serial number will change from ESTO to AVLB
Document 2 with movement 202 to assign correct serial number :
Material-- Serial Number-----Qty
A-- 2--
1
B-- 1--
1

Replaced system board? How to restore system serial number with a CD.

I have an l412 with a defective system board- would not POST. So I replaced the system board (it's a year out of warranty) and booted up, only to be met with an error code about a sytem serial number mismatch. Boots OK, but system update does not work (because of the serial number mismatch).

When the computer was manufactured, the EEPROM on the system board was loaded with the serial numbers of the system and all major components. These numbers need to remain the same throughout the life of the computer.
If you replace the system board, you must restore the serial number of the system unit to its original value.
You need the LENOVO ThinkPad Hardware Maintenance Diskette to do this. This floppy disk is only available to certified Lenovo service centers. Or those who know how to use google. Versions 1.75, 1.76 and 1.83 are the ones I have used. If you can't find them, you probably should not be trying this anyway.
You read that correctly- DISKETTE. As in floppy disk. How many laptops have one of these? Now you see the problem.
The real trick is HOW to do this- without a USB floppy drive. If you have one of these, stop, you don't need to know this.
For the rest of us....
First, find a computer with a floppy drive. Any computer.
Extract/install the HMD archive onto it. Follow the instructions in the file to make an HMD floppy disk.
Use this program http://www.boodaa.de/index.php/download-mainmenu-31/bootdisk2bootstick-mainmenu-44 to make an image of the floppy. Be sure to save it as a .img type, not .bin
Use this program http://paulski.com/zpages.php?id=1814 to create a bootable CD image using the floppy .img file you just made.
Burn the ISO to a CD and boot from it.
At least on my L412, it works!

Serial No Mismatch - logic board and battery compartment

Hi,
I ordered a 1GHz G4 Titanium Powerbook as soon as the first SuperDrive model was announced in Nov, 2002, without any add-ons. I received it in early December, 2002. I have just discovered that the serial number on the logic board (next to the memory bays) is completely different to the serial number in the battery compartment. The serial number in the battery compartment is the same as on the box and as reported by 'About this Mac'. I discovered this the first time I ever took the machine in for service - random system crashes/software failure/occasional panics when booting (not fixed by new RAM).
Does anyone know how this serial number mismatch could possibly happen on a brand new model that came from Apple via an AppleCentre?

A follow-up on this:
I spoke to Apple Australia who said it was not uncommon, even though AppleCare (in India) had said it was not something they had heard of and that I should speak to Customer Relations.
The repair person at the second Apple Store then advised me that the logic board serial no on some machines is in fact the factory's serial no, not Apple's, and therefore it is normal. There is confusion, though, since many newer machines have eg iBooks have Apple's serial no under the key pad.

Mismatch between serial number masters & its stock

For a plant A000 and storage location 0001, when i execute MMBE i am finding stock as 1 in un-restricted stock.
But when is check iq02 and check number of serials exist for the Material Master, i find 3.
Could some one tell me why there is a mismatch

This difference will come when the user creates new serial numbers during the goods movement, for example lets say if the current stock is '3' and user issued some '2 quanities for consumption. While issuing the materials if he used the option 'create automatic serail numbers' function instead of taking the serial numbers from the existing stock, then the system creates new serial numbers and issued with the stock quantity. Because of this, you will see the current stock as '1' with three serial numbers.
Actually the system should not accpet the newly created serial numbers for issues when your settings are correct.
Please check the serial number usage for the serial profile used in the material master in the below SPRO settings
Serial number usage is defined at two places in SAP-PM under IMG activity as shown below
First stage: IMG-> Plant Maintenance & Customer Service - Master Data in PM & CS - Tech Objects – Serial number Management- Define Serial number profiles
Then go to the serializing procedure and see the serial number usage for 'MMSL'. It should be '03'.
Second stage: IMG-> Plant Maintenance & Customer Service - Master Data in PM & CS - Tech Objects – Serial number Management-> Define Serialization Attributes for Movement Types
Select the “define flow type groups”
Here also, the serial number usage should be '03'.

Data Mismatch: Plant level stock and Serial Number collection

Hi,
I am working with stock in SM.
I want the plant level stock and the serial number collection for the serialised material. The value coming for the plant stock is 20 (Eg. MATNR = 50004050) and the corresponding serial number collection is 27. But the values in plant stock and in the serial number collection should be one and the same.
For getting the plant stock I'm using the MARA and MARC table. For getting the serial number collection I'm using EQUI and EQBS table.
When I increase the stock using the transaction MB1C and movement type 561, I'm giving the serial numbers for the material. The issued serial numbers are coming in the serial number collection correctly but the stock at the plant level is not getting updated properly. Please let me know from where I can get same stock.

Stock Mismatch at Plant level and Serial Number Collection

I'm working on with the material stocks in my application. For the serialised material (MATNR = 50004050), I'm gettting the plant level stock as 20 and the corresponding serial numbers collection for the same material is 27 which is wrong. Since the plant level stock and the serial number collection should be one and the same
I'm using MARA, MARC table for getting the plant level stock and EQUI and EQBS table to get the serial number collection. If I increase the stock using the transaction 'MB1C' and movement type '561', the serial numbers which I'm giving for the serialised material is coming in the serial number collection but the plant level stock still in the previous value itself. If I raise the stock for the serialised material, the plant level stock also should get updated.
Please let me know, how can I get the stock equal in both plant and serial number collection.

In EQBS table for that equnr u have plant and storage location.
but the performace while selecting EQUI on the whole will be very slow.
so i want a table with material,serial number,plant and storage location.

Process:
Sales Order PR(Purchase Order) GR( New Serial Numbers are created automatically or manually keyed in)
Once the Goods Receipt is received, we do the (SO) DELIVERYu2014SERIAL NUMBER ASSIGNMENT Post Goods Issue
Issue:
Current Serial Number Profile Management does not do a valid serial number check during DELIVERY CREATION where we do a SERIAL NUMBER ASSIGNMENT.
Only during POST GOODS ISSUE, the check happens for valid serial numbers; this is too late in the game for business as there is a time lag of 3 days from the DELIVERY CREATION and PGI.
Reason being--- We donu2019t check the following u201C Existing Stock Checku201D( which does a serial number validation during delivery creation as well)
SPRO>Plant Maintenance and Customer Service>Master Data in Plant Maintenance and Customer Service>Technical Objects>Serial Number Management>Define Serial Number Profiles
If we check this option, the business requirement to do a valid serial number check does happen during delivery creation, however we cannot create new serial numbers during Purchase Order- GOODS RECEIPT.
QUESTION:
Can we have the system check the valid serial numbers from stock during delivery creation and serial number assignment.
And Also create new serial numbers during Purchase Order- Goods Receipt.

Thanks for the reply. This field is having the value the count of serial numbers entered irrespective of the valid serial numbers entered. I created two delivery document, one with serial number which was not there in the stock and the other with a valid serial number. For both the delivery document LIPS-ANZSN gives the count of serial number which I have entered.
Please let me know how can I move further.

Goods Issue Stock with serial number to asset

Hi xperts,
When i GI a stock with serial number to asset (mvmt 241), the serial number is not updated in the asset master. I believe it's due to the asset number has been created before the GI. Is there any way (BADI or user exit) that would allow the serial number to be updated in the asset master after/during GI postings.

The serial number is not updated in the asset master & there is no user exit for updating the same . You need to maintain it manually in the Asset master through Tcode AS02. Then after that do the GI,then the serial number would get updated automatically when you manually enter Asset code under account assignment tab.

How to Change stock type of SERIAL NUMBER using IQ02 ?

Does anyone know how I can change the stock type from stock in transfer (stock type 04) to unrestricted stock (stock type 01), using IQ02?
Quantity of material is updated while posting document with movement 313 but the stock type of Serial is still not updated.
I will really appreciate a response.

Stock in transit is not a stock type.
Stock in transit is "Quantity of a material that has already been withdrawn from storage at the issuing plant on the basis of a stock transport order, but has not yet arrived at the plant to which it is being transferred (receiving plant)'.
and you can do sto only from unrestricted stock.
There are three types of stock which are provided by SAP -
1) Unrestricted use stock;
2) QI (Quality Inspection) stock; and
3) Block stock
and Special stocks which are all coming under above three types of stocks only.
for your problem first you do GR, in MIGO screen you can select stock types.
if your material assigned with serial number, when doing MIGO itself, you will be asked to enter the serial numbers(if it is manual assignment).

Serial Number creation for a material with stock type

Hi,
I am not able to create the serial number for a material which should have valuation type, plant and storage location using the function module ITOB_SERIALNO_CREATE_SINGLE.
There is no export or changing parametre for this function module for Valuation type(EQBS-LBBSA),
Plant(EQBS-B_WERK) and
Storage Location(EQBS-B_LAGER)
Can any one suggest me the BAPI or function module to create a serial number for a material with valudation type, plant and storage location rather tan going for BDC to transaction code IQ01.
(Note: We can create the serial number with valuation type manually using the transaction code "IQ01" for agiven material.)
For suitable answers would be rewarded.

I have the solution below.
- Don't change Serial no. profile
- Goods issue all stock with mvt 201 or 261 into temporary cost object and note your text.
- Change Serial no. profile in material master
- Goods receipt all stock (You may ref. material doc.) and you need to input serial number for all materials.
