Stolen apps

It is a big news in Japan recently and many news site in Japan report the incident. At first I thought it will be settled in a couple fo days. I decided to translate a couple of their articles and post here because I hear Apple Japan wrongly treated a victim as a thief. The theif is still selling the stolen app from AppStore. I've got to do something. Please read this.
Robbery in AppStore. A game PLOELIUM, which took a half year to develop, has been stolen from AppStore and selling by another developer.
August 4th, 2014 reported by Game Cast.
Today PLOELIUM, a card battle game, has been stolen from AppStore, and belonging to someone else. Occasionally AppStore sells a copy apps built with leaked source code or imitation apps from other vendors. However this particular time, an app has been literally stolen including official URL and users.

I went to a library from 9:00am to 11:30am today as usual.

Then I opened my iPhone and an email says an app has been transferred.

Bolttom line.
An greedy evel developer hacked my developer account and robbed my app I spent a half years to develop. The robbery completed in a couple of minutes. It was too late to find. My child has gone. My security was not enough.
@ngokakr used the same password on some email address. One of them was iTunes Connect, that manages iTunes. The password was leaked at someware, then someone logged on to the account and transferred his app.
In-app charging system is separated, therefore @ngokakr can still control to enable/disable the charge, however user will have full access on the app if disable and thief can get the money if enable.
The thief developer, currently selling the app, leo Le (*) is the same developer who sold an imitation apps of Longman and Oxford dictionaries before. Game Cast made check him once because he made a big discount before and Longman was free, however we didn't report it because we learned he was suspicious developer in China.
(* Note from translator: The app was transferred again from leo Le to Lee Elman as of August 7th.)
Apple introduced App transfer system 2013. Transferred App can sell from the same URL, and received developer can continue to sell one as if the App has been sold before. However we have to keep our password secure more than before.  The same robbery can be happened again and again.
According to @ngokakr, next update will be significantly delayed due to the incident, however user will be safe as long as you don't access to the bad developer. While the app has no problem so far, the developer may update to add a malicious function, we recommend not to update PLOELIUM until the issue has settled.

Warning to malicious app! The app thief provides a malicious app disguising an utility app for a developer to steal a login information.
August 5th, 2014 reported by Game Cast.
We reported an app robbery yesterday. We learned their could-be art.
The perpetrator provides an utility app that allows a developer to see the revenue from an app, and he steals iTunes Connect account information from a developer who logons via the app.
It turned out in a tweet from the victim, who develop PLOELIUM. The victim uses the revenue check app (Sales And Trends Apps) and he entered his ID and password for iTunes Connect. Therefore we pretty sure they retrieved the information from the app and hacked the account.
(Note from Translator: The current provider of both suspicious Sales And Trends Apps and stolen PLOELIUM are the same guy, Lee Elman.)
All apps in AppStore are controlled with iTunes Connect for developer. Once ID and password were leaked, the app can be transferred with no check. We recommend to refrain to access iTunes Connect from apps which looks not credible.

I hope someone in Apple helps him and settle the issue.

Step 1 - Get a new BlackBerry.
Step 2 - Login to BlackBerry App World from the new phone.  You'll be told that a new device has been detected and you'll be asked if you want to associate this new device with App World.
Step 3 - Answer 'Yes' to the question.
Step 4 - While in App World, open My World.  Press the menu key and select Refresh.  All your apps will appear on your new phone.  You might have to install them once again but you won't have to pay for any of them.
I hope that helps you.
- If my response has helped you, please click "Options" beside my post and mark it as solved. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon near the bottom of my response would also be appreciated.

  • HT1689 how do you retrieve an ipod that's been stolen but said it's "offline" on the stolen app?

I have lost my ipod and it's been over a month now. I thought that the stolen lost my ipod/iphone app would help me but all it said was it's offline. I'm almost positive someone didn't steal it but it's misplaced. Do you have any ideas???

Unless it is online connected to the Internet it cannot be located.
What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost Or Stolen
What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.
If your iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch, or iPad is lost or stolen what do you do? There are things you should have done in advance - before you lost it or it was stolen - and some things to do after the fact. Here are some suggestions:

  • 8 year olds ipad mini stolen

My ipad was stolen anyone know if there is a way for them to use this without it showing in a stolen app?

You can use Find My iPad if iCloud and Find My iPad was set up before the device was stolen.
If it is a cellula rmodel, you can report the device stolen to the carrier through which there is a cellular data plan
Other than that, contact your local police and report it stolen.

  • Really serious now

A lot of peolpe have iPods now. This player really good - looks good, plays good, has many features. Some would say it`s perfect. But one thing keeps it from being so - iTunes.
There are a lot of posts in this and other forums. People have a lot of problems with iTunes. I had one too. I posted here - no one could help. Spent 5 hours trying to find out what was wrong. No one helped. I didin`t even find a support e-mail, so wrote to [email protected], but got now answer. The only way to solve this problem seemed other programs, which, I really thing, aren`t approved by Apple. But the only really great program I found costed extra 25 $...
The point of this is that if iTunes doesn`t start or causes any other problems, your iPod is useless. iPod needs iTunes, iTunes needs Quick Time. If one of these doesn`t work, your iPod won`t work either. Or you are forced to pay extra money for programs, even risking to lose warranty. And isn`t this just because apple wants to earn extra money for selling music?
Drag&drop to mass store device would be way more easy.
Anyway, if you are facing the same problem like I did - error while executing iTunes - READ THIS. Remove all codec packs you have (it was K-Lite Mega Codec Pack in my case), then remove Quick Time (either by using shift+delete on it`s folder, or remove from Add/Remove list if it`s there) and download the stand alone Quick Time player from Apple web page. Then install iTunes (it comes with QT, but it won`t be installed if you already have one). Everything should work then.
The main problem was that Quick Time Player was somehow installed in a wrong way and iTunes is only a plug-in for Quick Time (one guy explained me all this on an IRC network - thanks a lot, mate ), so if you don`t have Quick Time or there`s something wrong with it, you won`t be able to use iTunes too.
And I couldn`t remove Quick Time, beacause it was "In use". Removing codecs helped. Then I manually deleted Quick Time folder and installed it again.
Hope it works for all those, who get same windows errors: "The program needs to close".

Bruce, the first two or three links I got back didn't
mention That aspect, so I didn't figure it was the
case. Of course, going a bit further down the list, I
found the "home" for this codec pack.
...when you are right, you truly are right
They've stripped out any direct mention of the
application and are bundling it all under the
"codecpack" moniker. But it's the same ol' thing. A
hacked and stolen app to steal music and hacked apps.
    Whaddayaknow!
K-Lite Codec Pack is merely a collection of audio and video codecs. It has nothing to do with Kazaa (the file sharing app). It's just one of many codec packs that are available to allow users to play various formats that their OS doesn't support out-of-the-box. I have the K-Lite codec pack installed and iTunes works perfectly.

  • IPad shows unknown Apple User ID's on updates or restore.

    Hi
Bought a new iPad Air 128gb the other day and installed it from my icloud backup. Upon finishing the installation the ipad asks for Apple user ID (email) and password. However, despite installing my data from my icloud account the ipad offers Apple User ID's of emails i have never seen. A Chinese looking name from @123.com and another user on a @gmail.com account.
These have no association with my devices or icloud account. So where as the ipad found these emails from??
Any help would be gratefully received as I am worried about being hacked or my data being used.
    Many Thanks
    Cheney5

Was your old iPad that was used to make the backup jailbroken, or had you used some other technique to install apps that were not downloaded from the App Store? If so, you have some stolen apps in your backup. The hacked apps are associated with someone else's Apple ID. If you did this, you should erase the iPad to factory settings and set it up as a new device. Do not try to restore it from that backup. Re-download any apps that you purchased legitimately from the App Store.
Alternately, it could be possible that you allowed two different people to install apps, purchased using their Apple IDs, on your old iPad. That seems less likely, though, as I would think you would recognize the addresses in that case.

Have you downloaded and installed an App Store app that you downloaded free from some website instead of from the App Store? If so, that's a stolen app, and you need to delete it.

I cannot find Google Voice under App Store , is there another way to install it ?

Heck, I had posts censored and/or deleted for talking about how I was requesting an enhancement (global ringtones for all alert and notification functions, not just calls and clock). Against policy! Please, if you can get alerts across the board with a jailbroken phone (and you can), why will Apple not implement it on the iPhone, and why can't we talk about it. I don't want to unlock my phone, or run stolen apps, or tether it, or anything else. I just want more than a beep or a glass sound when I get a text or an email or a calendar alert. I've been using Apple since 8, and started using X when it was 10.0.3. This used to be a nice place to come for help and to help. Now, I rarely bother. And Apple's policies vis a vis the iPhone just seem... draconian. I can overclock my iMac or theme it or whatever else I want, but boy, an iPhone is sacrosanct. It's a phone, make it work at least as good as my old RAZR or my wife's cheap Nokia.

  • How can I see the IP address of somone who used my iPad that was stolen to log into my app-store?

I recently fell victim to a theft of my iPad. Albeit it was an old one, it was mine.
Logging on to app-store with my iPhone, I have been prompted many times for "confirmation" of my password and for security questions. Clearly, someone has been trying to log on and has failed. My only guess is that they intend to keep the iPad and download music or whatever. But being prompted for security questions, leads me to suspect that somone has my apple ID but has been plugging away at passwords to buy stuff.
If I was able to locate the IP address (as the unit is only Wi-Fi), I can pass this onto the authorities and perhaps retreive the unit.
Is it possible to load a location app remotely from here and have it load up when the stolen unit is online again?
    Many thanks y'all

Did you have 'find my iPhone' activated on it? Because if you go to iCloud.com you can log in there and you can remotely lock or wipe your device.  From what I hear, the police won't do anything about going and fetching stolen iPads and iPhones, but if you have find my iphone/ipad/ipod/mac turned on then it will give you a map of where it is.
Just keep in mind that sometimes iTunes does ask you for your password regardless, and only a few weeks ago apple brought in security questions, so everyone had to fill in security questions for their iTunes account to make it more secure If all else fails, ring Apple cusomer support and they might be able to bar your account or something, however you may have to make a new account (the might be able to set it up so you have all your previous information on a new account)
    Hope this helps!

  • My iPad has been stolen, I need some help with the Find my iPhone app and iCloud please

Hello people.  I have (had) an iPad 1 (wifi only) - which was stolen two days ago.  It's locked with a passcode but I am worried that someone will be able to get into it.  I've got the Find app installed on my iPhone 4S and it shows that both my iPad and stolen iPod are offline.
Q - if either the iPad or the iPod goes into an unlocked wifi area, will I be notified on my phone?
Q - can anyone actually break into my iPad as it is locked?
Q - how does iCloud work in terms of the info that's on my iPad - photos etc that I don't want to lose?
Q - I've reported this to the police - does Apple need to know?
I'd be very grateful for any advice, many thanks in advance
