Stolen Ipad has been erased in the last hour. How do I see the location?

How can I see the last location of the ipad as it must have gone online (however briefly) in order to activate the "erase" function?

Once it's been erased there is no function to locate it:

    No, there isn't. If possible return it to whomever you purchased it from and get your money back. Otherwise, you have a very expensive paperweight that is of no use to you.

    You may have to restore your iPad using Recovery mode, but try a reset first. Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears on the screen. Let go of the buttons when you see the logo. This takes about 10-15 seconds.
    IF the update will not complete or you see the connect to iTunes message on the screen, you have to restore your iPad.
    If you can't update or restore your iOS device

    If it was charging from zero that sounds about right. It takes 5-6 hours to totally charge.

  • Can you tell if your stolen ipad has been updated

    I don't understand why apple cannot check my serial number to my lost or stolen ipad 2 and tell me if anyone has re-regestered or updated it since my loss of it.
    Aplle can find me any where on the globe but I can't get them to see if my ipad was stolen or I really just lost it. I had find my ipad installed but it hasn't turned on. unless the person whoi stole it cleared it out before I noticed it missing. If it has been updated since its lost than someone has it, if not it's somewhere and I will find it. I feel like I am not the only one with this problem. with all the money we spend on apple products a request like this should be done with out hesitation..
    thanks to anyone listening or who ever feels my pain,

    no one asked apple to be in law enforcement. they don't seem to have a problem sending push notifications and using my location for thier benefit. i'm only asking for a little help to find my ipad that i paid $5600 for.  any device these days can be located if lost or stolen. these companies choose not to use thier abilty to locate these devices because they would rather you go out and buy another device. please don't take me wrong, i do not hold apple responable for my ipad. after spending hundreds of dollars on ipads iphones and apps i only asked for a little help. i am sure that i am not the only person who is frustrated by this. i am sure if law enforment came to them(apple) and told them to locate me on my ipad or iphone they would have no trouble finding me.

  • How do i know if my stolen ipad has been wiped?

    have been able to locate it and the police are willing to help but i have lost the location and am not sure if it is just a dead battery or a wiped ipad>>>police are waiting on me but i have had no location for 48 hrs...BTW wifi only

    You can't tell the difference between the battery fully draining, the iPad being wiped or restored to factory defaults or turned off.  For al three conditions, the iPad will send back a  signal unique to your iPad.

  • Stolen Ipad.  Can I retrieve the location history?

    My ipad was stolen last week.  I used "find my iphone" to send a message, lock the device, and send me an email when it connected to a wifi network.  These actions were not executed since it was not connected.  That is, until today.  I received emails today that said the message was displayed and the ipad was locked at 1:44pm today.  What I still do not know is where it was when this occured.
    I've read that "find my iphone" retains the last location for up to 24hrs, but it does not show the location when I log in now.  Can someone tell me if I can retrieve the location history?  Or perhaps it didn't stay online long enough to determine the location.  Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Change your iTunes (Apple ID) password along with any other password that was stored in the iPod.  If any passwords are associated with credit cards, contact the CC company and get your card replaced (with a new number).  If any passwords are associated with your bank or any savings institution, contact them also and discuss approprate action with them.
    The "Find my..." function is pretty much useless if the device is in the hands of a thief.  All that is necessary is for the thief to connect to any computer with iTunes and "Restore as new."
    The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself.  Something as small as an iPod should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries.

    You may have to do this several times.
    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
  • HT1386 ipad has been disabled due to blocked password, how to solve it?
    And iTunes cannot connect to it due to the password trouble. How do I solve it???
    You have to restore the device within iTunes. You want to use the same computer that you always sync with so that you can restore your app data and settings. You can restore with any other computer, but you will lose everything on the iPad.
  • My iCloud has been 'upgrading' for the last 12 hrs. That is, after I had pressed 'install after downloading the latest, improved version without entering my password. How do I get back to the window that will allow me to enter my password?
    My iPad has been 'upgrading' for the last 12hrs.That is, after I had downloaded the new version of iCloud, and pressed 'Install' without entering my password. It is probably searching for it. How do I go back to the window that will allow me to enter my password. I have tried switching off the device, but each time the 'upgrading' comes on. I have also switched it off and left it on the charger for at least 6 hrs.
