Stolen Ipad, multiple devices share Itunes account

If I lock our stolen IPad, will the Iphone that shares the same Apple ID also be locked or affected?
Also, can the thief do anything once the device is locked?
Sorry for the second email - but device was stolen several days ago and this is the first time I see it on and being used so want to act fast

Hello Sue,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. The number of devices one Apple ID can handle is up to 10. The following article goes into detail about that process.

  • Multiple devices on iTunes account how do I use the iCloud without us getting each others texts

I have 2 iPhones one is mine one is my boyfriends when I downloaded the software he was receiving my texts on his phone even though I chose to only connect his phone through my computer both phones and my iPad are on the Samuel iTunes account I deleted the account from the iCloud to stop it but how do I keep the cloud and stop it from getting our texts on both phones?????

You can keep everyone on your iTunes account all you have to do is have everyone create there own iCloud account. Me, my wife, and my son all have our own iCloud for our own use. I have my 3 devices linked to mine, my son has 2 linked to his and my wife has 2 also. For some reason by default the iDevice will ask you to use your iTunes account but you don't have to. You can create it right from the device itself if you want a @me account which is the way to go IMO. you can also go to iCloud.com and create it there too. We have a total of 8 devices linked to one iTunes account for purchases and everything works like a champ. Hope this helps.

  • Multiple devices one itunes account

    Hi,
I have an itunes account for my iphone and ipad, now my kids have just got ipod touches for Christmas which i have added as new devices to my itunes account. When my daughter sends an imessage it appears on all the devices linked to my account, including granny's new iphone! How can I stop this, do I have to have separate email accounts for them, as they also want to facetime, help please!

I have ipod touch, When you register the ipod Touch give it a unique name. I have also connected all three at same time unless there is an issue I have missed I have had no problem. YOu can also set an option so that when you connect the device itunes will not start and then you can manually start it and choose the device you want to upgrade..etc.

Is there a limit to the number of devices that you can attach to an itunes account?

  • HT4847 Can I have multiple users's family devices backed up to the cloud e.g. 2 iPhones and 2 iPads under the same iTunes account

Just got a second iPad for the home.
Can I have multiple users's family devices backed up to the cloud e.g. 2 iPhones and 2 iPads under the same iTunes account?

Yes, but it's not usually recommended to share an iCloud account within a family.  If you do, any data you sync with iCloud will be merged and you, for example, will end up with each other's contacts and calendars on your devices.  Also, any action taken on one device (such as adding or deleting a contact) will be replicated on the other devices.  You will also all be sharing the same 5GB of free storage for all your data and device backups.
Normally it's best to use separate iCloud accounts for each person's devices.  This will keep your data separated, and allow each person to have their own free 5GB of storage.  You can continue to share the same iTunes ID within the family; the ID you use for iCloud does not need to be the same as the one your use for iTunes purchasing.  (Each person should also use a separate ID on their devices for iMessage and FaceTime to avoid getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls.)

  • My wife and I both have iPads and two separate iTunes accounts, and do NOT want to share apps

My wife and I share one MacBook. We both each have an iPad and we each have our own indvidual iTunes accounts. That is we have two separate individual iPads and two separate iTunes accounts. I do not want her apps on my iPad, and she does not want my apps on her iPad.
When my wife tries to update her apps on her iPad, it shows my user ID and requests my password. It does not even give her an option to put in her own iTunes account ID and password. This happens even though she is clearly logged in on her iPad under Settings --> Store with her own iTunes account, and have the same setup on my iPad (my own user ID and password for my iTunes account). I do not have this problem on my iPad.
How do we keep our apps separate? This is very annoying!
    Thanks!

There's info here on setting up separate libraries and user accounts. You won't have to reload (or re-import) all the music, just copy it.
The reason I suggest separate accounts on the Mac is because if you have the two libraries under the same user account, iTunes will also open the last library that was open in that account, and you'll always have to be mindful of which library that is. If you open iTunes and find it's not your library, you'll have quit, relaunch holding the option key and select the other library.
No, you won't have to log in and out of the Mac. (If I'm understanding your question here.) Multiple accounts can be logged in at the same time. And with fast user switching, you can toggle between user accounts.
I'll admit that maintaining the two libraries gets a little tricky, because if you share all the same music, you'll have to add it to one and update the other. (That won't happen automatically.) But I think Home Sharing makes this much easier to do.
    Hope that helps!

You can sync as many devices as you want to the same iTunes account, there is no limit. You can have the same content on each device or different content, the choice is yours. iTunes will keep everything straight, by device, including separate backups. I'd suggest giving each device a unique name, to make things easier.

  • How do I sync multiple devices on iTunes without apps that are only on an iPad Air not sync on other devices?

How do I sync multiple devices on iTunes (iPad Air & iPhone 5) without apps that are only on an iPad Air not syncing on my iPhone 5? I have apps on the iPad that I do not want on the iPhone, but when I sync my iPhone I have apps that are on the iPad sync to it also. How do I fix this so only the apps/data on each device sync to it?

    Settings
    iTUnes and app store
turn off automatic downloads for apps
Then what you buy on one device only goes onto another if you want it to

  • IPad stolen: any chance to know iTune account change

    Hi dear all,
2 days before my iPad was stolen from my home. I know there is lot of ways to find it.. provided it is connected to wifi or 3g. apple says find my iPad is used to trace it. But I think it is not good for a stolen one. The people who steal this will ether wipe everything or restore to factory default. And it is very simple also even if there is a passcode we put in the security. So this option is meanless. Second thing is i have already registered this iPad in my apple account. Is there any way to get notified whenever the iPad connects with another iTunes account other than the one it is originally registered? I hope the serial number and the IMEI number of the product can never be changed. If this is right then i think it is very simple to get a notification when account changes.
    I have 3 more questions..
    1) How is this Find My iPad works?
(in my case i was logged in to Find My iPad when it was stolen and i was using only wifi only. But there was a passcode given to it. so there is no option other than restoring it to factory default for the thief.)
    2) Is there any option to find the carrier which currently using my IMEI and serial number?
    3) Why this product registration is for? (is that only for checking the status of warranty and repair?)
thanks in advance for any reply

  • My Ipod touch will not synch all songs in my library - on my windows 8 laptop. Doesn't matter if the songs are checked or not - only some songs will synch to the IPOD. I have multiple devices and two accounts.

My IPOD touch will not synch all songs in my library. Library is on a windows 8 laptop. Checking the songs does not matter. I have multiple devices (ipod, IPhone 4 and 5, IPad 2) and two ITunes accounts.

All songs play on the laptop windows 8. The second Ipod touch we have - all songs synch to it and play.
But the first Ipod touch we bought - only half (or so) of the songs synch. So I assume there is an issue with the newer Ipod touch. The songs not synching are songs I added to the library from CD's.

  • We have two ipads and two different itunes accounts, can I sync my wife's apps and she mine?

we have two ipads and two different itunes accounts. can I sync my wife's apps and she mine?

Yes, you can use the apps from both accounts on the same iPad. You will both need to authorize each others iTunes account for use in each others computer account. You may authorize up to five Macs/PCs to use stuff from your account and that computer can then transfer the stuff to up to 10 iOS devices.
Open iTunes in your account and have your wife sign into her iTunes account in the iTunes app. First authorize your computer account to use her iTunes stuff from the iTunes Store menu. Then have your wife download all of the iOS apps that you want to use into iTunes. Now you do the same in her computer account.
Remember that only you can update apps acquired with your iTunes account and vice versa. So you will need to either sign into iTunes on the computer or directly on each others iPad to update any apps that need it. It is a little confusing at first, but you get the hang of it quickly.

  • With the limit of 5 devices per itunes account, I am wondering if I can have 2 itune accounts on the same computer?  We have many idevices and I am not sure how to manage them all.

With the limit of 5 devices per itunes account, I am wondering if I can have more than 1 itunes account on my computer?

The limit of five applies only to computers, not to iOS devices, if that's what you're concerned with. But yes, you can have content from up to five different iTunes Store accounts on any given computer or iOS device.
    Regards.

  • HT1848 How do I transfer the songs from my desktop to my iPad using the same iTunes account? I can only sync the other way. Thanks

How do I transfer the songs from my desktop to my iPad using the same iTunes account? I can only sync the other way. Thanks

    DaisyDoodle,
The songs on your Shuffle should still be in your iTunes library.  That means you should just be able to connect your Nano to the same iTunes library and sync it just as you would with your Shuffle. There is no limit to the number of iPods, iPads, or iPhones you can sync to one computer, iTunes library, or account.
As for preparing the Shuffle for your husband, just restore it via iTunes and then let him sync it to his own iTunes library or if its the same iTunes library, let him configure it to sync only his content.
Here are instructions on how to restore the Shuffle if need be.
