Stolen iphone and itunes
So I think I've developed an unhealthy obsession with finding my lost iphone. Today I had a good conversation with a kind RCMP officer who is willing to help me out with Apple to try and track my phone. I understood Apple could track the serial number of an iphone when it was hooked up to itunes, but was unwilling to get involved in what they perceive to be a law enforcement issue. Does anyone know if this is possible? Once my phone has been wiped out (which I'm assuming it somehow was because not one of my messages to the phone was ever received) does the serial number of the phone still register as a new device with itunes and the new "owner"? And so long as itunes is online, does Apple have access to that user's location? I'm assuming a warrant would be required for this type of investigation, but apparently iphone thefts have been very prolific in our community recently and this officer is interested in trying to solve this crime. So, what I want to know is: should I pursue with the RCMP getting a warrant to have Apple track the phone or has it gone totally off the grid?
Yes with a court order Apple can look at a serial # and get it's current or last ip address. Although you might have better luck with the carrier once the RCMP get the court order with the imei#. as they will be able to tell when it's connected to a cell tower.

You cannot merge Apple ID accounts, that has never been supported.
You can contact the Apple ID Security folks per the listing in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699 and they can help reset security questions and get the account working. -

I am getting the error "We're sorry we cannot complete your request on the iTunes store at this time. Please try again later." on both my iPhone and iTunes on my computer. What is wrong with iTunes? Is the server down or what? I need to download some things and update some apps...
I've been getting the same message for like an hour now. Since everything was working fine a few hours ago, and nothing changed on my end before it stopped working, I'm guessing it's something on Apple's end. They probably already know about it by now, and are hopefully working on fixing it, so there's probably not much we can do but wait for them to fix it.

I am trying to activate a second iphone, and itunes doesnt recognize that it is plugged in. This is also the case with my other iphone and my itouch. Tried restarting everything and also tried uninstalling itunes and reinstalling it, nothing has worked. Is there a way to fix this or another way to activate the phone?
Try activating it on a different computer, and using a different dock connector to USB cable if possible.
If that doesn't work, it may be a hardware problem. Take it to your Apple Store for testing. -
Curious... Syncing Issues Between iPhone and iTunes?
Just curious... the past several months I have noted various concerns around "syncing" between iPhone and iTunes... yet don't recall any mention of whether it occurs between MAC OS or WIN hardware (desktops and or laptops). Furthermore, I am interested if anyone can comment whether these sync issues occurs mostly on TIGER or LEOPARD OS when accessing iTUNES. (Guess I should pay more attention to the noted OS field.
I ask because I am considering an upgrade to LEOPARD by end of month and don't want to jeopardize my syncing to my iPhone if it is a LEOPARD related issue. Thank youI'm running Leopard and I've never experienced any sync issues.

Before installing a major OS X upgrade such as Leopard over a previous OS X version, it is a good idea to create or update your existing backup of important data stored on your computer's hard drive - including your iTunes library, photos, contact info, calendar events, documents, etc. I've never experienced any problems installing a major OS X upgrade over a previous OS X version, but I always update my computer's backup immediately beforehand to be on the safe side. -

@Razmee209 is right there is nothing you can do if it is an encrypted back up

BUT you could try to see if you have a back up that is not encrypted. If you go to iTunes Preferences (On a Windows go to Edit Menu under the Play Button - On a Mac click on iTunes at the top left) Click on Devices and if you see a back up that does not have a lock next to it you will be able to restore from that back up without using that password.
Encrypted passwords are set up at the time you create the back up.
