STOLEN IPOD? (read if sympathetic... or if you just want to laugh)

-----------------A MUST READ!!!----------------
yeah so i bought my ipod video on 11/07/05.. thinking it was the coolest thing in the world. it was.
until my day of chaos.
since my topic says 'stolen ipod', you should have an idea where im going with this
so im walkin out the campus library w/ my friends and of course, stupid me and my big egotistic intuition, says to wrestle one of my friends to the ground.
i did, and i was successful in the first attempt. i had my ipod sticking out of my left pocket after the tackle, so i took off my earphones, put my ipod in my pocket, and decided to go for a second tackle on a bigger fella.
i took him down but he flipped me over and we fell onto the ground. 3 minutes later we're in the parking lot and i realize my ipod is gone, and i remembered that i had placed it in my pocket when i first tackled my friend, so i said to myself i must have dropped it on the grass, so i'll look for it.
apparently it wasnt there and i ended up looking for it for almost 3 hours, went home, filed a report, checked local places for missing items, etc. it's close to about three months since i lost my ipod, but yeah that's my story.
feel free to leave any comments; wont be offended at all.

mr.gopha,
i just want to inform you that your reply has very well helped and encouraged me in my time of need.
you're right; it doesn't bring my ipod back where i want it
but it does help if you would stop causing pandemonium to those golf players
thanks,

  • I Have Tried Everything, My Ipod Won't Turn On...I just want my songs!

    Please Help:
Recently I downloaded the new Itunes(Itunes 7). After downloading it I was prompted to upgrade my Ipod (30g Video) to the new system (1.2). Almost immediatly after finishing this download my Ipod turned off, and is now frozen and will not turn on. Also, my computer doesn't recognize when my Ipod is plugged in, nor does the "Do not disconnect" screen come up, my Ipod stays blank. I called Apple they told me that I can send in my Ipod for it to be fixed, but the hard drive on the Ipod will be wiped. I recently bought a new computer and do not have any of my songs in my library, this is over 2000 (2000 + dollars) songs I have bought that I am currently on the verge of losing.
I have tried various USB ports, two different computers, restarting my Ipod, talking to apple technichal support, putting my Ipod into disk mode, manually trying to get the compter to recognize the Ipod through the manager, and smashing on my desk out of anger hoping that something might happen (just kdding). I believe thats everything, any other ideas you have are greatly appreciated. I have tried the 5 r's.
If anybody has any ideas on how can get my computer to recognize the Ipod is plugged in so I can back up all the songs (via my computer, ipod...copy all music files) would be greatly appreciated, that way when I send in my Ipod and then get it back, I can put my songs back on.
If there is apparently no way to get my computer to recognize I plugged in my ipod, all i need to know is any way whatsoever to get all my songs off my Ipod before sending it in for repairs and apple deltes all my songs?

Any part or device can go bad at any time for any many of different reasons—it is what it is!
First recheck your battery operation as follows:
This info regards your battery operation specifically.
Try isolating the problem by connecting IPOD directly to a computer USB Port.
Your IPOD will not work if the Battery level is too low.
For more info go to the link below:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60970 .
    Read the battery Icon and see what the charge level is;
and if you have available use a AC/DC IPOD Charger which connect directly to
AC circuit,; it should charge within 2 hours and full in 4 hour.
If you can’t get your battery to charge it may need replacing.
Nothing else will matter if you cant get your battery to charge?
    If it’s a recent purchase, you may want to return and get replacement;
If’s it’s old it may need replacing.

  • HT4437 What is difference between air play and home sharing if you just want to show iPhoto's on HD tv through apple tv (just purchased MacBook Air and Apple tv)

What is difference between air play and home sharing when wanting to show photos on HD tv through apple tv?  Just bought Mac book air and apple tv.

You would have to use home-sharing if streaming from a computer. Computer would need to be on and running iTunes.

Airplay would be useful if streaming from an IOS device

  • Stolen MacBook: Watch out for strangers following you when you leave store

I purchased my MacBook today around 2:00PM and someone broke my car window around 2:30 and stole my MacBook. I think they followed me from the Apple store, because they took nothing but the new computer in the package. Any suggestions on how to find the criminals? I went back to the store and purchased another one... My credit card company tells me that its loss protection does not cover anything stolen from a car! I guess I just want to tell people to store their computer in the trunk... I certainly learned my lesson today.

Unfortunately, the only way to beat this kind of thing is to have set up some variation on lojack for laptops before the theft. There are several varieties of that, mostly relying on having the machine phone home as soon as it's connected to the internet. (Machines with built-in cameras, such as MacBooks, can even take pictures of the thief and phone home with them...) In order to do that, of course, the machine must know where home is, which means that you must set it up. A brand new, still in the box, machine won't be set up yet.

  • Isnt iPod suposed to be a "storage unit" just as an USB? So why...

Yo! Attending to someone over there saying i dunno on how to use lowercase text... Your wishes are my command!.
Well, now my question; Do i have always to install iTunes into a Pc when i want it to work as a storage USB unit? I mean... i thought i had to configure it to work between plattforms once! but when i get mi iPod connected into a Pc i get the "new hardware assistant" so it asks me to install and update driver so the unit may work... And honestly... If it is true, its not a great feature, you dont have always to "update" drivers just to use an USB anywhere you want... sorry if i seem consterned.. I hope you can help me... THANX!

Yes, you´re completely right saying that about Windows and Mac about Formatting Units, what i meant to say before is this, after i Windows Formatted my iPod, it works great between this 2 plattforms (in 2 computers i´ve got wich have Mac OS and Windows Xp each) But at the time i go on a third computer (wichever it is, anywhere with Windows Xp) I get the "new hardware found assistant", so it limits me to use mi iPod as an USB on anywhere, imagine yourself "installing" everytime Windows hardware update so you can transfer data... its quite boring when you just want to transfer 2 or 3 docs from school or just a few jpg to get them to your Pc. hope now you get my point, THANX A LOT!!!

  • You just charged me for Acrobat Pro. You're asking for $14.95 a month. The goddam file won't download to my computer. It made me close it and restart it at least seven times. I don't have it now. I'm calling American Express. You've made me really angry.

The loading of the program got to 39% seven times. Then it demanded I close it and restart it, which I did. The last time I gave up. I want to be able to edit Adobe files, but I guess I'm going to have to do without your help. You better pull back my charges. American Express is on my side, not yours.

  • Can you deactivate a stolen ipod?

Can you deactivate a stolen iPod with a serial number so it can no longer be used?

If you used 'Find my iPhone' then you can log into the app on an iOS device or access it from icloud.com on a computer. The application will let you wipe and lock an iPod Touch remotely.
Other than that there's no way Apple can 'deactivate' a device.
    Regards,
