Stop 0x0000007E

Help, I have been trying to update my device software from 4.3 to 4.5, using Vista SP1 but am plagued with "Stop 0x0000007E"
I've updated my desktop manager to 5.0, but this has not helped.  The problem occurs during the install of the firmware update and also when disconnecting my device from the USB port.
Please advise.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
There are a couple of hits in the KB's with that error code...see if they are helpful:
KB03280 Mail system interface library could not be loaded 0x0000007e
KB11410 Desktop Manager: DesktopMgr.exe - Unable To Locate Component
Otherwise, I'd recommend the following sequence:
1) A clean uninstall of DTM:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
Reboot the PC after the uninstall sequence is completed
2) A fresh download and install of the appropriately compatible (with your PIM) DTM software:
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
3)  A fresh download and install (to your PC, atop DTM) of the appropriate OS package from your carrier:
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
Reboot the PC again
4) Retry the OS update
Good luck and let us know!

  • How to recover from STOP: 0x0000007E Error?

    Satellite L25-S119
    Windows XP Home Edition
The other day while trying to install a new iPod Touch the laptop died with the blue screen of death as IE was trying to open with the iPod connected to the USB port.
Every time the machine boots now this blue screen comes up while trying to load windows. Using the boot menu option to disable auto restart on error I was able to record the details as follows:
    Stop: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0x84F22B58, 0xF7AEB69C, 0xF7AE7398)
Sometimes the 3rd number in the () is 0xF7AE769C, but otherwise the error is always consistent. No other information in the message. Windows did detect the iPod as it booted but never got to the point where IE started. I have tried every option in the boot menu but Windows will not start up in any mode without this error coming up.
I got out and opened the recovery disk that came with the computer (this is the only disk we received with it) and the only thing this will do is format the hard disk and re-install the original software. I certainly do not want to wipe out everything on my disk so how do I boot up the machine so I can try to determine what happened to it? Doesn't Toshiba provide a "repair" disk that allows you to start the computer and try to repair the installation as it is without going to such extreme measures as formatting the entire disk? I know another machine I have provided this.
Can you please help me find a way to boot up to repair this?
    Thank you.......

To access to the files without issues with permissions, you can try using a PE-based diagnostic disc... I think UBCD (Ultimate Boot CD) has something like that, or anything based on BartPE, PE Builder, etc. All of the PE (Preinstallation Environment?) discs I've used ignore file permissions entirely, so that should be okay for your uses.
RE: Purchasing another Toshiba laptop... I'm actually using an HP laptop now, and have a ridiculous number of HP products. Mostly because I get them broken and repair them, or buy them cheap. I only got the Toshiba laptop because a family member needed one, and I got it for 65% off retail price at Best Buy (yay for November clearance!). I got a 17" HP laptop for $199 and a 15.4" Compaq laptop for $75... all with one-year warranties, all important accessories, and in good condition.
Either way, the parts inside the computer are usually made by the same companies... AOI, LG, Samsung, Philips for the LCD; Hitachi, Toshiba, WD, Seagate, Samsung, Fujitsu for the HDD; CPU/Chipset: Intel/AMD/VIA; GPU: AMD(ATI)/nVidia/Intel/VIA; DVD:Toshiba/Samsung, LG, Pioneer, Philips; Touchpad:ALPS, Synaptics; Audio: Realtek, Conexant, Creative; LAN/WLAN: Marvell, Intel, Realtek, Broadcom; Motherboard/Assembly: Compal, HannStar, Winbook (I think)....obviously there are others, but you get the idea.
Very few companies actually manufacture their own products...... some don't even design their own products.
And cee_64, some information there isn't entirely accurate (but close enough to call me nit-picky, which I'll accept). Some manufacturers do include recovery discs, specifically all Dell computers until recently, but many still come with them; and ASUS laptops. Additionally, many Dell discs are near-generic, and can be used to install (but not activate) Windows on other systems.
Toshiba isn't the only manufacturer that makes HDDs and laptops... Fujitsu and Samsung make laptops and HDDs, and both supply diagnostic tools. Samsung also makes RAM, ODDs, and other semiconductor-based products. (Back in the day, when IBM still made consumer IT, it made HDDs and laptops).

  • Blue Screen when syncing IPOD

I have been perusing the threads and I am beginning to see some common problems with a few others out there. The Blue screen STOP messages seem to be happneing to others.
I have tried everything including updating windows with the newly released patch today.
Do any of you "experts" out there think that this problem might have to do with the recent windows vulnerability and the long awaited patch released today?
There are lots of news reports out there indicating that this particular windows flaw was very critical and my problems started right about the time the flaw was recognized.
I restored my IPOD as suggested with the 5 R's and now I am bummed because my IPOD is empty and I finally got my PC to recognize the IPOD but everytime I resynch all of my 37 gigs of MP3s to my IPOD, my PC crashes after about 100 MP3s and gives me the Stop message and this error string -
    STOP: 0x0000007E (0x0000005, 0xDF1BA804, 0xF89FB89C, 0xF89FB598)
    Can anyone please help us?
    thanks
    Zep

Not sure I'd care to be called an expert (or even an "expert").
As the discovery of this "flaw" coincided with the onset of your problem I rather doubt it is the cause, since the flaw must have existed before it was discovered. Blue screens are often (but not always) caused by broken drivers or memory problems. If your OS is generally stable, then it does tend to point towards some sort of a driver issue. It seems to me that the 5R's tends to focus attention on the iPod (I guess apple presume that the OS is OK or they just don't want to go there!). Some people might argue that no (normal) device you attach to the comp should cause it to crash, but that is rather academic for you right now. My suspicion is that it is a problem with the comp - well a device driver or memory. Another possibility is that there is more than one problem - and whichever problem happens first triggers the other.
I doubt if the latest Microsoft patches will fix your problem - but who knows! I'd download and run a decent memory test program (e.g. Memtest86) and make sure you eliminate that as a cause. Are you in a position to attempt a restore? That might be worth considering. Otherwise, try doing a complete uninstall of iTunes and the IPod software and starting over. As a last resort you might need to consider re-installing windows.
I guess you've already done all of the obvious comp things (like running chkdsk). Have you, or are you able to test the iPod on a different comp?

  • Error message when installing XP PRO SP2 on MAC PRO

I have used BootCamp Assistant (in Leopard 10.5.1) to create a Windows partition on an internal 500GB disk (not the one with OSX on it). When I put in the install disk it starts loading everything in preparation and when it gets to "Starting Windows" I get this message on the typical Windows blue screen:
    XXX STOP: 0x0000007E (0XC0000005, 0XF748E0BF, 0XF78DA208, 0XF78D9F08)

I have unplugged everything except for the Studio Display and am using wireless keyboard and mouse.
Please, please advise because I need to use my community colleges online course material but they don't support MAC and this is the perfect answer for me to not have to buy another computer! I'm a die-hard MAC user but I must say thanks in advance!

It comes up saying error in boot camp installer and then a window comes up saying the installer finished and did not complete (or words to that effect). I have copied the latest bootcamp installer updates to a usb pen and tried to run the file then but it doesn't seem to work. Frustrating thing is that all runs fine in vm ware fusion

  • P45 neo problems

Ok, so I've tried about everything I could think of.
I assembled the computer, intel core 2 duo E8500, not 100% sure of the stepping, but its s-spec=slapk. motherboard is an msi-7519 ver 1.0, P45 NEO, 2X2 gig PC2-6400 DDR2 ram modules, 500 gig WD hd, nvidia 8800GT 512mb. Then when I switched power on, and had windows xp in it, it started loading stuff and then gave me the following error.

I tried switching to a different video card, use a GS7900 256mb, didn't work, tried my 1gig X2 pc-6400 ram, didn't work, tried different dvd-rw drive, didn't work, I have 2 other computers, and been trying every pieces to get past this error message and couldn't.
So, now I do not have a floppy drive anymore, but I bought a 2gig usb drive.
I've been trying to read on how to flash my bios, but it seems in all the instructions I've found that I need to have a stable operating system, problem being, can't install it.
I have even tried installing windows xp on the hard drive using my other comp, and putting it in before I install all the drivers, didn't work, getting the same error message.
So, I'm guessing I need to flash the bios.

  • Satellte L40 - After XP Setup blue screen Error

    Hi,
I browsed this forum and the net and I did not find an answer, so:
I'm downgrading from Vista to Win XP on Satellte L40 (PSL48E), I created new WinXP SP2 with nLite with the AHCI drivers,
looked ok win xp setup recognized the HDD so i deleted the vista partition I created new NTFS partition Setup copied the files
and when it restarted for the first time:
I got blue screen error STOP 0x0000007E which suggest it may be BIOS incompatibilty, a post in this forum had resolved by using XP SP2, but I'm already using Install CD with XP SP2.
Now, BIOS for the model PSL48E comes only for windows flashing. and I have no Windows on my system.
Even if I reinstall vista again and flash it with XP compatible bios I'm afraid I might loose vista compatibiliy (if XP dosn't work after all)
and it will render my system useless.
    Help please.

Here you will find a manual on how to install XP on an L40

  • IPhone causes Windows XP to crash when connected

Connecting the usb adapter from the PC to the iPhone causes a blue screen of death (BSOD).
Originally, I connected the iPhone to my Dell XPS m1210 and iTunes 7.3 to activate. Activation was seamless. It immediately recognized the iPhone and didn't cause any problems.
After activation, I disconnected the iPhone. When I reconnected it (literally plugged in the cable), my Dell started to recognize the device. Then it went directly to a BSOD. The BSOD doesn't contain the name of any file. Microsoft error reporting says the file is corrupted, so it can't analyze the problem. The problem happens again and again.
Since then, I have restarted my computer a few times, reinstalled iTunes twice, updated my usb drivers, all without any success.
Has anyone else experienced the problem? Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?
