Stop a playlist after last song is played

Is it possible to have a playlist stop playing after the last song on a playlist has been played? If so, how?
iPod touch, iPhone 5s, iPhone 4
Thanks in advance.

Unless you have the Repeat feature set to repeat the playlist, the muisc wil stop playing after the last song in the playlist is played.

  • How do I get iTunes 11 to work as the old iTunes did in this respect: after playing a song in one playlist, I click on another playlist, highlight a song, press play, and get the result of that song playing & that playlist continuing?

How do I get iTunes 11 to work as the old iTunes did in this respect: after playing a song in one playlist, I click on another playlist, highlight a song, press play, and get the result of that song playing & that playlist continuing?  As it goes now, one clicks on the song in the new playlist where the arrow is and then chooses 'Play Song Next.'  So, it plays next, but then the song after that is back in the old playlist.  I want to use iTunes smoothly without the extra clicks I've had to do in order to get the playlist to continue.  This is music for background while I play the violin at restaurants, and extra clicks and hassle is quite unappreciated, especailly since it worked fine in the previous iTunes.
       Thanks.

At the top of the playlist where it shows the playlist title and the number of songs, there are two icons. Click the "play" triangle to add the entire playlist to "Up Next", or the "shuffle" symbol to do the same thing but in random order. But the currently playing track will stop playing, and all the songs in "Up Next" will be removed (replaced by the ones from this playlist).
If you hold down the "option" key while clicking those icons, the currently playing song will continue playing, and the new playlist will be added to "Up Next" (above the songs that were already there).

  • Music stops mid-playlist after 15 minutes?

Music stops mid-playlist after about 15 minutes and returns to menu. Only occurs in playlists created on iPhone (as opposed to on iTunes). Any suggestions?

Thank you, everyone who responded.  After, several trouble shooting scenarios, it seems that yes, it is my Avast Internet Security module that seems to be causing the problem.  Disabling it immediately allows files to be created and opened.  Any workaround (other than disabling or even trying another product), do you think are available?  I like using Avast but that issue is simply unacceptable.  Thanks again.

  • TS3274 My iPad plays a song and then stops; I press manually for next song, but it either plays same song, a different song that I pressed, or will play the next song, but keeps stopping after every song I play.  Help?

When I go to play songs the iTunes will play a song then stops (repeat all or one song is not on and also shuffle is not on); I manually click for next song an it wll ( play the next song and stops, it will play same song and then stops, or it will play a song randomly and then stops) .  Help!

Try deleting the problematic tune (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app (or video app on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

  • In the music app, my phone has suddenly frozen. I can't get it to move off from the last song it played. How can I clear this?

I love listening to music on my iPhone, but suddenly yesterday, after playing the last song on an album, it just froze. I can move back to music menu, forward or even play the same album again. It's just stuck. Does anyone know how to clear it?

  • PC Freezes After Last Song

I have no problem loading songs from a CD onto iTunes until I get to the last one on each CD. It imports it onto my computer until it gets to the very end of the last song, and it freezes. I have Windows XP and the latest version of iTunes. Any Suggestions?

After at least 7 hours of wasted time, I seem to have found a solution that is working (for now). If you have an NVidia card and are having these issues (I had iTunes go to 100% cpu utilizating and "not responding" on last song of importing cd AND occaisional total lockups while importing in the middle of a song AND iTunes would not play any music files in the library), hopefully this well help. I doubt either Apple or NVidia will ever bother to fix this but the "key" seems to be one of these three:
    1) disabling the NVidia taskbar icon
    2) disabling the NVidia desktop context menu
    3) setting desktop resolution to 16-bit
I haven't bothered testing each individually because I'm bitter and I've had enough, but I'm fairly sure it's one of those
Tech Info: Conflict seems to be between the GeForce2 drivers (I specifically have a GeForce2 GTS, the newest NVidia drivers that support this card are the ForceWare v71.89. The newer releases DO NOT support most of the GeForce2 cards (except the GF2 MX series)) and can be resolved as above.
    To actually disable the above:
    1. Make sure you have the latest NVidia drivers that support your card (for GeForce2 and older, it's v71.89, for GeForce3 and newer you can use the latest drivers) --> find them at www.nvidia.com
    2. Go to Control Panel --> Display --> click "Settings" tab --> choose "Medium (16 bit) underneath "Color Quality" --> click "OK"
    3. Go to Control Panel --> Display --> click "Settings" tab --> click Advanced --> click the tab that has the name of your graphics card ("GeForce2 GTS" for me) and has a little Nvidia icon on it --> on the left select "Tools" underneath the name of your graphics card (you may have to expand the menu) --> UNCHECK the boxes next to "Enable taskbar icon" and "Enable desktop context menu" --> click OK --> click OK
    4. Reboot
    5. See if iTunes works.

  • "Random" play doesn't work, stops after each song; multiple plays of same

One of the more annoying things happening: random doesn't work.
I've gone through the Zen Media Explorer, reformated the Zen player, so there were no songs on it.
Went and built a list of 37 songs and uploaded via Zen Media Player to the Zen player.
Went to "Music" and selected "All Tracks"
Set my "System" "Audio Settings" for "random" play.
I had to pick the first song to start it off.
It played the first 5 or so songs correctly.
    Then it stopped.
I used the bottom arrow key to "play" the next song. Then it stopped AGAIN.
Now I'm manually making each song play! This goes on for 4-5 songs, then it starts playing automatically - but repeating the songs it has already played. It does not go near the other 28 or so songs that I have not heard yet!
I go back to "Music" and re-set to "All Tracks"
I go back to "System" "Audio Settings" and re-set to play "random"
And it does this annoying routine all over again.
Went back to "System" "Audio Settings" and picked "normal" this time. So of course, its playing all the same songs I've heard over again.
I have to manually cruise the "All Tracks" to pick what I want to hear.
Can anyone help me with this? I can't stand it anymore.

If you installed any software to work with the mouse, remove it according to the developer's instructions, then restart the computer and test. Back up all data before making any changes.

  • Stopping while loop after last element of 2d array is passed through

I posted something similar to this before, but what I got didn't work.  So this time I'll try to be more clear with what I am trying to do.  What I have done is combine two 1d arrays into a 2d array, and am using it to run an experiment.  I split the 2d array into a 1d array by column, and am trying to get the while loop that the array is in to stop after  the last element of the array is indexed.  I need to use a while loop because the array is constantly updating because the number of elements can be changed while the program is running.  What I am having trouble with is getting the while loop to stop after the last element has run, because the last element is subject to change.  Any ideas?
    Thanks

I am trying to run a measurement using labview to control different instruments.  The program is suppossed tp work in that it runs a measurement for each current setpoint inputed, for 1 magnetic field setpoint.  So for example, if the magnetic field setpoint is 8000 gauss, and the two current setpoints are .00001 amp, and .0001 amp, it will run the meauserement twice for the 2 current setpoints for each magnetic field setpoint.  What I am trying to do is that sometimes, I might have to edit the magnetic field setpoints while the program is running.  I am having trouble with refreshing the magnetic field setpoints, which allows the user to input a new magnetic field setpoint while it is running.

    OKAY!
I was having the same problems! I could not get my
videos to play continuosly. I did a search for
'Continuos Video Play' and went back to some posts in
Dec '06 and I found out, that when your Shuffle
Setting is set to Shuffle, then your videos will not
play continuosly. Who would have ever thought that?
So I tried it and IT WORKED!
    I hope that helps you.

  • How do I import playlists after moving songs to new drive?

I got a new mac. I've moved all my songs to a new firewire drive. My old "iTunes Music Library.xml" references all the files on a different volume name. I want to get all my playlists back (so when I plug in my iPod I don't lose everything). Should I edit the xml file and find/replace the old volume name with the new one? Or is there a better way to do it? If I just import the xml file, I will have all the playlists but they'll be pointing to files that no longer exist.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Alfredo

  • My iPhone 4s was working fine yesterday but today, the volume has stopped working entirely. A song will play for approximately 9 seconds and then will cut the sound completely. It has done this on YouTube, Music, and my ringer. How do I fix it?

My phone played music fine yesterday. Today, headphones plugged in or not, my music (including YouTube and ringer) stops working. The timer still counts up as though it is still working but the volume turns gray or not at all and the little circle volume control disappears. How can I get my music working again?

  • Shuffle Playlist after selecting a song?

Is there any way to have a playlist shuffle after selecting a song from the playlist without having to select shuffle playlist after the song plays?

Have you checked to make sure the Shuffle setting has not been enabled in Settings?  If so, try a hard reset to see if that helps as well. To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

  • How to keep track of last song played?

    Hi!
Does anyone know how to keep track of which song played last time before itunes was closed? I have a big list of songs in my playlist and I play it everyday while I'm working. If I shut down my computer and start it again the next day, I have to manually look for the song I played the previous evening. Is there a way where it will keep track of the last song and play it from that?
    Thanks
    JB

Subwaygirl, welcome to the Mac family! I'm not sure whether you're asking about beginning to play from the last song played on your iPod or iTunes so I'll answer both.
From the iPod, simply hit Play and it will begin at the next song. It cannot go back to the last song played.
From iTunes, use my answer to Chris to add the Last Played column, sort by that and select the song at the top of the list. That is your most recently played song. If you hit the >> or Next button you will then go to the next song in the randomly-sorted list.

  • Stop itunes from skipping back to song currently playing

I have a messy library right now and need to work on it quite a bit! I was curious if there is some way to set itunes to stop skipping back to the song currently playing when I am working on renaming or organizing in a different part of my library?

That bugs me too when I'm working on tags or artwork. So I decide on some songs or an album I want to hear, and drag them into a regular (blue icon) playlist I've named "Now playing".
I start that "Now Playing" list to playing, and then go to back to the main library to do other stuff, or look in the itunes store or at podcasts, etc.

  • Can iTouch remember last song played?

I have bunch of albums on my iPod Touch 2 and it seems whenever I switch to watch a movie, it doesn't remember last song it played. I know it can remember position in the song, but can I make it remember which album and which track it was playing last?

No, however you can create Smart Playlist that can help you continue to play stuff you haven't played in a while. Just make a new Smart Playlist like so...
The "200" can be changed to any number you prefer, but something larger gives you more of a random selection when shuffling.
So what happens is the playlist is filled with the 200 tracks that either haven't ever been played or have been the longesst since they last played. As you play out of this playlist, once a song finished, it becomes the MOST recently played, falls out of the playlist and is replaced by something else that hasn't been played the longest.
So when you shut down and restrart, this playlist assured you that you are only listening to stuff you haven't heard in a while and nothing will cycle back into that list until you have gone through all but the last 200 songs in your library. e.g. if you have 1000 songs it won't be until you go through 800 songs that the first 200 songs start to show up again.
