Stop all notifications on mac

I'd like to stop notifications so I can actually use my computer for work, not a toy where I am constantly swiping away annoying popups.  Some items I was "allowed" to remove from notification center (none should be included, by default.)  Additionaly, I've had to disable software update, which I wanted to keep on, just to prevent some additional notifications.  However, the mac app store continues to remind me every few minutes that new software is ready to be installed, and this won't go away, nor will it stop automatically checking for updates.  How can I stop these irritating distractions?  Do I have to get a Windows machine for the first time in my life?

If you keep getting App Store notifications on updates that often, you must have tons of software installed... all for work, no games, right?
For notifications, in general: System Preferences -> Notifications, in the upper right corner, but you seem to have found it already.
For notifications on SW updates: System Preferences -> Software Update, and you seem to be familiar with this too, since you already disabled it.
Now what else? You can configure everything, and the machine keeps working... that does set it apart from a Windoze machine which will more likely go totally silent, no?

  • How do I stop all notification dings except phone calls and texts?

I have gone into Sounds, Notification Center (turning off all alerts on all apps) and the phone is still dinging.  I can't figure out if it is an app.  There are no notifications on my screen.
    Please hellp.

Go to Settings > Facetime and turn off iPhone Cellular Calls for the phone ringing portion.
For emails, you need to go to Settings > Messages and look at receive messages at and uncheck the same address, which is evidently checked on both devices.

  • HT4906 all that happened was that iPhoto stopped working on my mac.

please help me iphoto stopped working on my mac and if i get it from the app store its £10

So the application is present in the Applications folder  In that case you will have to reinstall iPhoto.
To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/  folder,
Then install iPhoto from the disk it came on originally and apply all available updaters.

I'm not quite sure I understand what you're saying? Have you gained access to your mac, but getting pop-ups about your old password? If you have access, you could always copy important files and reinstall OS X from scratch. Also you could use the Mac as an external hard drive if you have another Mac doing the same. Those are probably the easiests ways. If it was easy to just go ahead and change passwords as so, security would be an issue. How is your computer locked? Is it a filevault password, or how much do you have access?

  • My 4th generation iPod touch stopped giving me notifications on all apps. How do I fix this? (The sound is up, I have wifi, all notification settings are on)

Add one more disgruntled user to the list.  First noticed that I couldn't download upgrades on my iPhone.  It would prompt for password as normal, would briefly show "waiting" on the app icon and then just stops with app store still showing update.  True deleting the app and installing from iTunes.  This worked, but iTunes library had old version of app so it still showed an upgrade.  I then deleted the app from the phone and iTunes and that is when I started getting the 11111 error.  I've since discovered that I can download any new content to any of my linked iDevices, but cannot download any type of previously purchased content.  No previously purchased music not on device, no previously purchased uninstalled apps, no installed app upgrades, etc.  ALL show up in purchased content lists, but when you attemp to download it appears to be starting and then simply fails with no errors on the iDevice(s).  I've also tried signing out of my account in settings - store, performing a hard reset and then signing back in, but alas, no success.
C'mon Apple, obviously a problem that is happening to numerous users and it started happening to us all at the exact same time.  You got us iAddicted, now give us our iFix.

  • All notifications Off, but calendar alerts won't stop?

I've loaned my old iPhone (3G running iOS 4.2.1 with no SIM card) to an elderly relative, just as an "iPod Touch" for ONE purpose only: to run a 24/7 web app I made that shows the time and date in super large yellow print. (It also shows the time of day in natural English, like "late morning," because AM vs. PM confuses her.) She loves it and relies on it! It solves a daily problem in her life that no clock has been able to solve. She is no longer embarassed not to know what time of day it is when people call/visit. She can now be self-reliant in a small but important way.
    But it's having a problem.
She is not tech-savvy and has memory problems, so I need to keep the experience as simple as any wall clock--nothing interactive. I have turned on EVERY parental restrictriction (apps are all hidden) and moved all the Apple apps and Settings to page 2. (If she hits the Home button by accident, page 1 only has one icon--my clock. Even the Dock is empty.) I turned off locking, sleeping, and vibrating. I set the volume to zero and set ALL Notifications completely Off.
And yet... my old scheduled calendar reminders (monthly bills, rent, taxes, etc.) keep popping up! You can imagine how bad that is to someone in a (sometimes) confused state. Her clock is telling her she has to pay some bill or do something urgent! A caregiver who visits every other day dismisses the alerts (about 1 per week) but it's still a problem. Sometimes her vision is good enough to actually read the alerts if she gets close, and regardless, the alerts block the clock display.
Even worse, if she ever accidentally touches the screen, the alert might send her into the calendar app which would be utterly confusing. If that happens even once, she will be sure she has broken it. She'll blame herself, and this clock that is such a relief and comfort to her will become a source of fear and stress, just like her microwave and her cordless phone. Technology terrifies her, and even other wall clocks have been a problem. (She always thinks electrical devicses are interfering with each other--like thinking that she has lost some of her TV channels because she hit the wrong button on her phone, or thinking her fridge is ruining the food because the microwave clock started blinking.)
Any thoughts? Why would it still be showing calendar alerts?
I live in another state entirely, so I'm hoping this is something simple that I can talk the caregiver though on the phone. (Deleting calendar events manually, say, or wiping and reinstalling the phone, would be last resorts--those would have to wait until I next visit in person.)
    TIA!

I have just tested this on my own device and discovered that even with notifications in the Notifications Centre turned off, if you have alerts set in the calendar entry they will still display and bleep on the screen.  You may need to go into the entries that are appearing on her device and remove the alert.

  • How do I stop all of my music in my itunes library syncing to my iphone 5 even when the songs aren't ticked?

How do I stop all of my music in my itunes library syncing to my iphone 5 even when the songs aren't ticked?

The frustrating part about the restore is that is seems to be finished when it in fact is not.  The restore will look "finish" and your phone will be at the Swipe to Unlock screen. If you swipe and look at your home screen at this point of the restore, you'll see everything is not quite right.  While the process seems to be not doing anything just leave the phone attached and do something else for about an hour.  This part of the process is not mentioned during the restore operation.  I believe there are about two steps to the restore process: 1) restore the phone settings (ringtones, background, notification settings, etc.) and give the user the unlock screen; 2) without letting the user know there is still more to do, begin the slow process of restoring all the music, movies, apps and what not.  It's this second step that causes the confusion.  Nothing lets you know to wait that process out.  I've restored a couple devices from a computer backup and the 2-step process looks the same.

  • "Settings unavailable" in iOS app. And cannot uncheck "Disable all notifications" on web.

I guess this problem started a few months back, when there was two "disable all notifications" checkbox in the settings. I happened to check both of them, and later, Spotify found out that they have put 2 boxes of the same function and removed one of them. I'm guessing that the issue started at that exact moment. The box was removed from both iOS and web. My setting got stuck "checked" and cannot be unchecked. Just guessing. What else could be causing this? Why everytime I uncheck "Disable all notifications" and save it, it gets checked again and it is impossible to uncheck with any browser on any platform, why? Why I see that "Setting Unavailable" page on my iPhone? I made sure Spotify app's notifications are on in iOS's settings. I believe, only someone from the team will be able to solve this by tweaking my account's setting file on the server side. I see no other solutions.

I am having the same problem on iPhone 5 and what's more on desktop Mac OS application I am not receiving any new album notifications for about 3 months now. This is really annoying for I'm following about 360 artists and there's no simpler way of getting to know new album releases.

  • TS4000 How to stop email notifications of calendar changes

Every time I edit an event on a shared icloud calendar it sends emails notifying me of the change.  How do I stop these?

as i wrote there Re: How do you stop receiving notifications about updated calendar events?:
to NOT get email notification about updated events from a shared calendar you subscribed to you have to uncheck "events affect availability" in that calendars "info" (mac os X.7 and X.8: iCal —> calendars dropdown —> right click on the subscribed calendar —> choose "get info" from the context-menu —> uncheck "events affect availability")

Or cut globally at position 2min and 3min, then mute manually regions before and after the 2 - 3 minute range, bounce and get rid of the not needed silence in the audio.

    Hi All,

    Regards,

    Hi,
I can see two CWB workflows - bencwbfy.wft and benssenrtfyi.wft. These are available under $BEN_TOP. You can open these workflows through the Oracle Workflow Builder and note down their workflow names. Thereafter, you can download the definitions of these workflows (most current workflows from the database) from the database through the concurrent program - Workflow Definitions Loader - which should result in the wft files on the destination you've provided running the concurrent program.
Copy those files from the server, and edit them locally using Workflow Definitions Loader to remove or redirect workflow notifications appropriately. Please be aware that this amounts to a customization so you should evaluate the impacts of doing this on your installation. Also, for CWB to support custom workflow, my understanding is that you need to be at Family Pack J or above (you may wish to validate this through Support, though).

  • Disable All Notifications

How can I temporarily disable all notifications on iPhone iOS 7? Is like to do this to conserve the battery or while in a netting and the Do Not Disturb still displays notifications.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi santiagofromtampa,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The Do Not Disturb feature doesn't stop notifications, it just silences them.  However, if you set your iPhone to Airplane mode, you would not be able to receive any notifications because they require a cellular or Wi-Fi connection.  The articles below will explain:
