How do I stop Lightroom from opening every time I start my PC?

You can try disabling all auto-starting in your OS (that's what I do, in Windows).
Another possibility is to disable Lr preference to auto-start for import when removable disk attached.. - sorry I don't know where that option is off-hand..

  • How Do You stop Auto opening apps?

How do you stop the previous apps from auto starting  when you start your machine? I have already turned off the retsore windows in system prefes and I dont have any auto startup items... so what gives, can someone tell me how to stop them from opening up? I suppose I could go and close every app before I take my laptop off its power plug (battery is dead now days)... but I was just hoping there was some otehr way rather than going into each app before I pick up and run.

Kind of...but not exactly. This has been discussed at length over the last few months.

  • STOP auto-launch of iPhoto when Mem card connected

How do I stop iPhoto from launching when I plug in my cellphone?
This is really a pain, because every time I try to eject the cellphone (memory card), iPhoto crashes, then re-launches and re-mounts the memory card, again and again and again.
    STOP iPhoto, Stop !

    **** WHOOPS !!! ****
Now when I try to eject the cellphone, it says "<item> in use and cannot be ejected"
You have to quit iPhoto first, then eject it.
THEN, after a while, you get an Error Dialog message on screen which says "Try quitting application and try again" -- BUT IT DOES NOT SAY WHICH APPLICATION TO QUIT (G'dam Apple stupidity)
What other Apps "MIGHT BE" using the cellphone memory card to prevent it's ejection ? (iPhoto is NOT running).
Now, when I eject the volume, it disappears for a while, then the Error "In Use" message appears, and the volume re-mounts.
    Arrrggghhh..

  • Auto Opening of iPhoto

For some reason iPhoto every once in a while decides to open without any commands from me.  This is a pain in the neck as I then need to take the time to close it, but with a large photo file the time to open and close is a bit annoying.  What's going on?

    LN,
This problem just began when we upgraded our iPhoto around Christmas and also upgraded to our operating system to 10.6.8.  The last time iPhoto opened was while I was trying to print something off the internet this afternoon.  Just after I opened the file setting for the print command and before I clicked on the print command for the selected printer, IPhoto opened up.  I closed it and a short few seconds later it opened again.  I closed it for the second time and quickly hit print command and got my document printed.  I am not sure exactly when it opens unannounced, as I should have paid more attention to it, but in any case it is becoming a minor pain in the butt when this happens unexpectedly.
We did not change any preference settings since upgrading that I am aware of, however I guess we now have something checked to cause this, but I am unaware of what it might be called in order that I can re-adjust the setting.

  • When iPad connected to Mac Pro, images from iPad camera auto open Aperture

Hi, When open Mac Pro with i Pad connected, Aperture opens atomatically with images from i Pad camera. Checked systen prefs for Mac & Aperture + U tunes for iPad prefs, but cannot find way to stop auto open of Aperture. Help!!!

Look in the application Image Capture on your Mac. In the preferences for Image Capture there will be a setting to choose which, if any, application to open when connecting a camera to your Mac. Change that setting to open nothing.
If you want Aperture to open when you connect your camera to the Mac and it continues to open when you connect your image then just quit Aperture after it opens and then start iTunes.
Any time there are photos in your iPad's Camera Roll. Your Mac will assume you'll want to upload those photos to your Mac.

  • Any way to stop auto shared volumes from opening in finder when booting?

Leopard 10.5.8, but has been happening since at least 10.4.x...I have auto mounts setup in my user preferences, the auto mount fine, but the automatically open up too...makes it very annoying having to close all windows every time I boot the system...we have multiple Mac Pros running both Leopard and Snow Leopard...is there any way to stop the opening of the shares when I boot? maybe an applescript or something? thanks.

there are some fancy solutions to this using autofs or /etc/fstab but a less involved method might be by using applescript. open Applescript editor (it's in /Applications/Utilities) and paste the following in it
    mount volume "afp://nas.ip.address/path-to-share"
add a line like that for each share you are mounting.
save the script as an application and add it to your login items. on the first try it will ask you to enter user name and password if your shares have any. enter those and check the box to save it in the keychain. it won't ask again. this will mount those shares without opening separate finder windows.

  • Can I stop the email client from auto opening messages?

I'd like to get the iPad e-mail working like the iPhone where messages are not "auto opened". Some messages I want to delete without ever opening them, but the mail client always keeps one open all the time. Is there a way to stop this from happening?
    Thanks

did the restore through itunes but to no avail.
Then you must have restored and installed your backup when requested.  To remove those emails, you have to restore as new, i.e. without your backup, as roaminggnome suggested.

How can I stop auto download of attachments without tapping on them? Once I open a mail, the attachment automatically starts downloading, though it is written as "tap to download". Please help..

To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to prevent the automatic downloading of the SD version when you buy an HD show.
You can, if you wish, suggest that the ability to prevent the SD version from downloading through the iTunes feedback page. But since the SD version is needed for use on iPods and there at least at present is no mechanism for someone to download the SD version at a later time should they decide they need it, Apple may just continue to force the downloading of both versions. If they get enough feedback on the issue, though, they may figure something out.
    Regards.

  • How can I make my iphone not auto open iphoto?

I have an iphone 4 and I'm running Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.7 on MacBook Pro.  My iphone is running iOS 4.3.3.
My problem is, is that every time I plug my iphone in to my Mac it automatically opens iphoto 8.1.2 Vers.
How do I make it stop?

Go into iphoto preferences and tell it to do nothing when a digital camera is attached.
It will not open when any camera is attached.

  • How to remove iPhoto auto open when device connects with USB?

    Hi
When I connect any device using USB cable (mobile, tablet) on my Mac PC , iPhoto starts up and hangs my system for sometime ...
    Thank You.

    Hello there wasylultra,
It sounds like your computer is becoming unresponsive whenever you plug in any USB device that has or takes photos, because iPhoto launches automatically and takes a while to open. You can change this preference in iPhoto itself to open either iPhoto, Image Capture, or no application at all when you connect a device:
iPhoto '11: Change what happens when you connect a camera to your computer
To choose the application that opens:
Make sure no cameras are connected to your computer.
Choose iPhoto > Preferences, and then click General.
Choose an option from the “Connecting camera opens” pop-up menu.
The title of the article mentions iPhoto '11 but the same steps hold true for iPhoto 2013.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • How do stop PREVIEW from auto-opening images?

I'm scanning all my old slides. And every time I finish a scan, Preview automatically opens the pic.
I have Preview as my jpg default, which I would like to keep (not Photoshop, etc).
But I'd like Preview to NOT auto-open these files once they're created.
    Any ideas?
    tia

Not sure what printer or scanning software you are using, but if you open and use Image Capture in your App Folder you can direct the Scan To: any number of Folders, Apps or Desktop.
