Stop automatically opening pdf in ipad

When I look at my emails on my iPad some pdf attachments are already open on the page. Some pdf's I like to open in iBooks so a copy is kept. How can I do that when the pdf is opening and showing within the email?

Having a similar issue, however the problem is the pdf displays as an image in mail and cannot be opened, ie there is no longer an option to open using a pdf reader. if the pdf file is saved to pictures it is likewise corrupt and unable to open. This issue arose sometime recently following an update but not sure which...
iOS up to date.

No - and you can't open pdf files in the Pages app on the iPad anyway as far as I know. You can export a Pages file as a pdf but you can't open them in Pages.

  • Cannot open pdf on ipad 3

I have tried to open pdf files on my mail application on ipad 3 but it shows 'Please wait....If this message is not eventually replaced.....You can upgrade to the latest version......'.  I downloaded the adobe reader from the apps store but it still doesn't work.  Please help.  Thank you.

Viewing pdf files in Mail has nothing to do with Reader for iOS. You would need to open the pdf in the Mail program then move it to Reader IF you wanted to use the Reader program. The problem with the pdf file can be due to either the type of PDF file not being supported, the file not downloading from the mail server, or some other glitch. I recommend restarting the iPad and trying again.

  • Automatically open pdf with Preview

I noticed that after upgrading to 10.5, pdf do not automatically open with Preview. I know that in 10.4, I was able to change this in Safari, but this option seems to have vanished in 10.5. Any help?

Right click to "download" (save) the PDF files to your machine and then use Preview as the "Open With" app.

  • Stop automatically opening next mail

Is there a way to stop Mail from opening the next message? I often want to leave a message unread. But if I delete a read message, Mail automatically opens the next in line. Is there a way that I can manually decide which ones to open and NOT have this automatic feature? I've examine the preferences and cannot find any indication there.

the only way to do that is to collapse the message viewing window completely.
That will mean that you'll have to double-click on a message to view it but it will keep it unread untill then.

  • How can I get Safari 5.1.2 to automatically open pdf files on web pages by using Adobe Reader?

Safari 5.1.2 always opens pdf files on web pages as a single frame and thus it will not print properly.  How can I get Safari to open all pdfs with Adobe Reader 10.1.1?

    Carolyn,
Thanks for sending your suggestion on how to solve my problem.  Unfortunately, it did not work for me.  I trashed the file, quit and relaunched Safari, but the problem remained the same.  Although it did not work, I do appreciate that you took the time to try to help me.
    Thanks.

  • Safari does not automatically open pdf files.

After updating Acrobat to 7.0.5, Safar no longer auromattically opens pdf files, when I click to open a pdf on the web. Every time it asks me which application do I want to use. When I select 7.0.5 it works fine. When I open a pdf from a the finder it opens the proper version and Get Info shows the proper association.
I cannot find how to fix the association in Safari.
    Thanks for you suggestions.

Hi, Jim. Welcome to the Discussions.
    1. Quit Safari if it is open.
    2. In Acrobat, select Help > Detect and Repair.
    3. Select or deselect the options in the resulting window, as desired, assuring that<pre>__ Adobe PDF Viewer
View and edit Adobe PDF within Safari</pre>is selected.
    4. Click Continue.
    5. Type your Admin Password when prompted, click OK.
    6. You should get a message indicating that "missing components were repaired."
    7. Launch Safari and open a PDF on the Web to see if it's fixed.
FYI: Questions regarding Safari should be posted to the Safari Discussion.
    Good luck!

  • How to Stop automatic file saving on IPAD Adobe Reader 11.2

How can stop my PDF document being saved with the fillable form data when being using Adobe Reader 11.2 on an IPAD - the file is automatically saved when the user returns to the document folder.  The original pdf file was created from a Word document and then text, signature and date fields added using Adobe Acrobat XI and saved using Standard Save function. I am trying to achieve my users completing the template form using the IPAD and then emailing it. However each time the form is filled and emailed (which all works fine) and the user returns to the "documents" folder, Acrobat Reader 11.2 automatically saves the file with the form data

I think the iPad forces a different way of thinking. In general, you don't have to save files on the iPad, and that's important. The iPad has complete liberty to quit an app when you want to run a different app, or just because it feels like it. When you restart a good app, things are as they were when it was quit.
Resetting is a possibility, but remember that because of this automatic quit/automatic restart it might happen when you don't want it. A reset BUTTON seems entirely possible.

  • How to make Safari automatically open PDFs in Preview?

Well, the subject says it all:
I would like Safari to download PDFs when i click on them and then open them automatically in Preview.
I don't want any plugins nor any Acrobat.
    Does anyone have any idea?
(I have tried acrobat and the schubert-it plugin, neither of them has really satisfied me, so i have removed both of them.)
I have, of course, looked in this forum for any hints, but, although there seems to be a lot of posts about the "safari & PDF" topic, i didn't find anything solving my question.
Any suggestions or hints will be appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Gabriel.

Not sure why you prefer to open the PDF outside of
    Safari?
    i think it's more convenient:
Acrobat is too slow; and when viewing PDFs inside Safari i don't have all the nice keyboard shortcuts for zooming, flipping pages, copying stuff from the PDF is not as smooth, etc. It's just the overall look-and-feel that's much nicer in Preview, IMHO.
Anyway, I guess you're saying Preview does not open
    after the PDF download.
    Yes, that's what i meant.
    Have you tried accessing the
info panel for one of the PDF files and changing the
"open with" selection to "Preview" - then, "change
    all"?
Now i am not quite sure what you mean.
In Finder, when i double-click a PDF it opens fine in Preview.
Also, in the info panel, Preview is set for the "open with" for all and any PDF.
    Best regards,
    Gabriel.

  • Can Preview be set to automatically open  PDF docs?

I am often converting/printing word docs into PDF docs in iMac Lion. I would like to set so converted PDF docs would open automatically in Preview.
Is it possible to set so? If then how?

Thanks but I already have Preview as default. It doesn't open freshly converted pdf-s automatically. I have to go to Finder and open them from there. I would like to skip that step and make Preview open freshly converted PDF doc automatically as soon as conversion is completed and document is created in Finder.

  • Automatically opening pdf's

Until recently any pdf's would open with Acrobat and also be saved to the desktop. Now they are saved to the desktop but not opened automatically.
I use Firefox and Adobe Acrobat (CS3 version).
Does anyone know how to reset so that they both open automatically and are saved to the desktop?
    Thanks

FireFox has the option in Preferences->Applications to save or open a PDF.
If you choose Open, you can then choose the app to open it with.
My guess is that your option has changed simply to "Save File"
