Stop c00002e2 after DCPromo in Server 2008 x64 on Gigabyte MB

I have the same problem that was discussed in http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winservergen/thread/42c999b5-0a45-4501-9d69-cd30a6193c21/.
After running dcpromo and the required reboot, i get:
STOP: c00002e2 Directory Services could not start because of the following error:
A device attached to the system is not functioning.
Error Status: 0xc0000001.
Please shutdown this system and reboot into Directory Services Restore Mode, check the event log for more detailed information.
I did as the error message says but could not really find anything indicative in the event logs.  I looked up the error messages using err.exe mentioned in a response in the above post.  C00002e2 means just what the error message says, "Directory Services could not...".  C0000001 means:  "The function is not yet implemented".
I have the same GA-MA78GM-S2H motherboard and a SATA Raid1 mirror (on two 160G Seagate drives).
I have all the latest 64 bit drivers installed.  I installed using a modified WinPE boot cd that had the drivers added to it and also made sure to load the drivers during the instllation.
I did not see any resolution in the above post.  If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
In the mean time, I'll continue to examine the event log, and possibly try other drivers.

I had the same error codes as this.
Restored using a system image backup on to new hardware.  After rebooting the system was just rebooting over and over again with no blue screen or any information.  After hitting F8 and choosing 'Dont reboot at failure'  I was able to see
the blue screen.
I had the following blue screens:
STOP: c00002e2 Directory Services could not start because of the following error: A device attached to the system is not functioning. - Error Status: 0xc0000001
After about 7 hours of messing around with the system using 'Directory Services Restore Mode', trawling through countless web sites and pages, I couldnt find any further useful information.  I noticed that if I renamed the NTDS folder to something else
and rebooted, I got the following error:
STOP: c00002e2 Directory Services could not stsrt because of the following error: Could not find the file specified  - Error Status: 0xc000000f
My initial thought was that the system couldnt see the NTDS folder, for some reason related to it being on a different drive.  This second error code was a step forward for me, because it proved that the system could actually see the NTDS folder afterall,
and it was unlikely to be something to do with the drive letter etc...
The windows event log was not particularly helpful at all and none of the AD tools would work, to name a few:
DSA.MSC
DCDIAG
NETDIAG
REPADMIN
So looking further into the issue, I noticed that the backup I was using to restore from was very old!  this was not my initial intention.  I thought it was new.... it turns out that the domain controller I was restoring had not been backed up using
this method for months.  We did have a backup, but only using HP Data Protector, which I wanted to avoid restoring from.
Anyway, to cut a long story short.  This problem was fixed by setting the date back in time several months, to just after the backup was taken.  Once booted successfully, I was able to set the date back to present and everything
worked spot on!  This domain was a root domain so the accounts didnt really change much.  If it was our main domain, someone might have got some serious flack!
Hopefully this helps someone!
Cheers,
Snake Moore You are my Savior, I was begining to think it was a 2008 R2 issue. Sure enough the tapes were 2 months old, My co-worker had dropped this on my plate, so I had now idea.  I feel your pain with HP DataProtector.
Stop Errors:
c00002e2 Directory services could not start because of the following error: A device attached to the system is not functioning
Error Status: 0xc0000001
Check the date of the backups. If it is more than a few days from the current date, boot the target machine into bios and change the system date to a day after the backup was made. Then windows should
boot.

  • Hang when opening multiple pdfs: Reader 10.0.1 (Win Server 2008 x64 SP2)

I have recently updated Adobe Reader to the latest patch update 10.0.1.
Previous to this update, I was able to open multiple pdfs at once and had no issues with the Adobe Reader software. After updating to 10.0.1 I've noted that when I attempt to open more than one pdf at a time, Reader hangs (Windows indicates a "Not Responding" error has occurred). After a series of minutes, the second (or third, fourth etc) file opens, and Reader appears to function as per normal..
I'm running Adobe Reader 10.0.1 on a Windows Server 2008 x64 (SP2) box, and didn't have this issue with the 10.0.0 release..
Does anyone else share this issue, and if so, is there an update planned to solve the issue? I would also be happy to provide more diagnostics/specs if these will provide info for developers to chase down the issue here..

I also have Reader 10.0.1 (Win 7 Home Premium x32).  I can open several large PDFs (including one over 100 MiB) satisfactorily and then have the whole thing hang.  As I am trying to work with these documents, I have not been patient enough to wait for minutes.  I just have to terminate Reader and relaunch it.
I have removed some of my DLLs to stop Reader wasting my time preparing a long document for reading, which I do not need .  (It would really help if Adobe would provide a setting to turn this off, instead of my having to hack it. )
I never had any similar problems with Reader 9.  Did anyone test Reader X before releasing it?  I have read elsewhere that turning Protected Mode off may help but...

  • Bootcamp Win Server 2008 x64 - No network

I have no networking either wired or wireless with Bootcamp and Windows Server 2008 x64.
I've repaired the drivers from the bootcamp partition on the OSX disk - no change, and uninstalled the device drivers for the ethernet controllers and the Broadcom Wireless 802.11n device in Device Manager, rebooted, windows wasn't able to install the drivers.
Does anyone know where I can download the x64 drivers, for the Broadcom Wireless 802.11n
Both the wired and wireless work Ok under OSX with all updates installed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

I had the same problem but I came up with a solution. Since I was following some instructions on using Win server 2008 as a workstation I saw that it mentioned downloading Everest Ultimate Edition (trial version worked) to find out what the hard ware was that needed a driver. When I did this I saw that the network device was listed as a Intel 82574L. After finding the name of the hardware I went to "computer management" and clicked on "device manager." From there I double clicked on the network device, clicked on the reinstall driver; from there browse for driver software & let me pick from a list. Select network adapters - intel - and then on the Intel 82574L. Once it installed the network came right up. Hope that helps you out & good luck!

  • Windows Server 2008 x64 and Crystal Reports Server Embedded

We're attempting to certify our software with Windows Server 2008 x64 and want to know the best way to configure both the server and client of Crystal Reports Server Embedded.  Currently, our software is certified against Windows Server 2003 x86, and we install Crystal Reports Server Embedded XI Release 2 (no SP) on the application server, and we deploy the Crystal Reports .NET merge modules for XI Release 2 (no SP) on any client machines.
I believe I am correct in stating that no version of Crystal Reports Server Embedded officially supports Windows Server 2008 x64 (based on some other forum postings) until SP1 comes out (which I don't think has happened at this point).  If that is true, we can live with installing the RAS on a separate Windows Server 2003 x64, if that's even possible.  With that said, can we even get our Windows Server 2008 x64 running with the latest Crystal Reports 2008 .NET merge modules?  We've tried many different configurations between CR XI R2 SPs and CR 2008 for both client and server and have very little luck (either it won't install correctly because of x64 or missing .cabs, etc.) on both the client and server side of things.
Can someone suggest the optimal configuration when Windows Server 2008 x64 is in the mix, noting that we can use a secondary Windows Server 2003 (x64 preferred but can fallback to x86)?  Or do we have to wait for Crystal Reports Server Embedded 2008 SP1 to be released, and if so, does anyone know of the date?
    Thanks,
    Ross Beehler

CRSE 2008 is a 32 bit app, it works on 64 bit OS's but all parts must also be running in 32 bit mode.

  • Windows Server 2008 x64 on T61P?

    Hi Everyone,
Just got my T61P with Vista x64 pre-installed - love my Thinkpad!   However, like just about everyone on the planet I'm disappointed with Vista and would like to install Windows Server 2008 x64 Standard (no hyper-v) just like on my office desktop computer.  If you have not yet run Windows Server 2008 it is an *outstanding* OS, as good and wonderful and just right as Vista is, well... annoying.
Anyone installed Windows Server 2008 x64 on their Thinkpad T61P?  My experience with the office desktops is that so far Vista x64 drivers work just fine on Server 2008 x64.  Any tips?
    Thanks in advance!

Erik - Thanks for the info!
I use 64-bit applications ... some notes on why:
enterprise supports up to 32GB of memory so the argument to use x64 for memory support is nullified.
... that's not correct.  x64 windows versions allow 64-bit addressing, so 64-bit applications created for x64 windows can take advantage of large amounts of cheap RAM as 32-bit applications cannot.  32-bit applications (they are all 32-bit applications in a 32-bit Windows version, even in Server 2008) are restricted to a limited process space of at most 2 GB.
It's true there is a LARGEADDRESSAWARE kludge to enable limited use of up to 3 GB by a user process (and there is an equivalent to this in Server 2008),  but this has gone nowhere because it is far more straightforward and more productive for an applications developer to simply go 64-bit rather than invest any engineering resources into a one-of-a-kind kludge for an era that is already past.
Yes, it is true that if you are stuck running 32-bit applications you have less incentive to use x64 windows.  But going true 64-bit is a huge advantage in reliability and performance.  Given the very low cost of RAM in modern times it makes sense to do so, even in notebook settings that are often limited to only 4 GB of RAM.  64-bit applications in Windows tend to have decisive performance and reliability advantages so whenever one competitor in a given segment makes the jump to 64-bit pretty much all of them must do so.

  • Windows Server 2008 x64 on Bootcamp: Ethernet drivers missing/not working

    Hello folks,
at the moment I try to get Windows Server 2008 x64 running on a new Mac Pro (Early 2009).
Installation of Windows Server 2008 x64 (Enterprise) worked out of the box. However, the ethernet drivers do not work. Ethernet cards are not detected and working due to missing drivers.
I have tried several different Intel driver packages. All of them report "No intel card found.". However, the vendor ID of the ethernet card clearly points to Intel.
I have not been able to find a driver yet, does anyone have an idea?
E.g. does someone know the exact chip name? The driver "name"? Anything else?
    Thank you in advance,
    Stefan

  • PAM Clarification Please - Installing Netweaver 7.0 on Win Server 2008 x64

    Hello,
I hope someone here can help clarify SAP's PAM documentation (http://service.sap.com/pam) regarding Netweaver 7.0.  We are currently running EP7SP16 on Windows Server 2003 x32.  We are getting ready to install a whole new batch of portal servers (unrelated to the ones we already have in place) and I was wondering if it was supported, by SAP, to install NW 7.0 on Windows Server 2008 x64.
So, I went to the trusty 'ol PAM to look.  Here is where the confusion started.  It says Windows Server 2003 x64 is supported, but that Windows Server 2008 x64 is not, at least until Sun releases a 64-bit version of their 1.4.2.x JDK.
The reason I'm confused is I don't understand what the difference is between running Sun's 32-bit 1.4.2.x JDK on Server 2003 x64 as opposed to running the same JDK on Server 2008 x64.  Why is 2003 supported and 2008 is not?
    Thanks,
    Tom
p.s. -   Forgot to mention I already read OSS Note #1054740 which talks about 2008, but it didn't really help me in clearing up this question, beyond saying that it does work.

    Hello Markus,
Thanks for the info, but could you clarify it a bit please?  When you say 32bit applications are not supported on Windows 2008, do you mean SAP does not support running 32bit apps on a 64bit operating system?  I ask this because the PAM does not indicate that.  I understand that there is no 64bit 1.4.2 JDK, but the PAM says running Sun's 32bit 1.4.2 JDK on Windows 2003 64bit is supported.  So, why wouldn't the same hold true for Windows 2008 64bit?
    Thanks,
    Tom

  • Windows Server 2008 x64 SP2 SAN disks falls off

    Hello!
We have a Windows Server 2008 Standart SP2 x64, which is connected via two HBAs QLogic QLA2440 to a Storage Xyratex F5402. On DS5402 are located three LUNs for the corporate file storage. These LUNs are displayed in Windows Server as local disks E F G.
As the MPIO software it is used Xyratex Storview Pathmanager 6.00.5016.14 (Microsoft MPIO Driver 6.0.6002.18005) in Failover\Failback configuration, and three disks are adjusted for work on three different ways.
It is all normally worked since 2008
But problems have begun with the beginning of this year.
In operation time any of the SAN disks falls off. With a F5402 all is normal and its logs there are no errors.
In Windows Event System Log the folowing errors and warnings:
EventID: 515, Source: xyrsp200 (Xyratex F5402E Multi-Path Device Specific Module). The path for logical drive [SN: 60050CC00020188D0000000000000007] has failed over to [0005 4:0:1:2] because of a path error.
EventID: 23, Source: mpio. Errors in all ways. \Device\MPIODisk2 it will be removed.
EvetID: 260, Source: xyrsp200 The active path on logical drive [SN: 60050CC00020188D0000000000000007] has been switched to the preferred path on [0005 5:0:0:2].
EventID: 15, Source: disk. Access to the device \Device\Harddisk5\DR5 while is impossible
    and further an disk erors...
Disk reloading in Windows Disk Manager doesn't help. I am compelled to reboot the server. After reboot all works as though anything and wasn't to the following such case.
As fall off not all LUNы at once (one can fall off, others and will to work normally) a problem probably either in Windows or in Xyratex Storview Pathmanager.
After adjustment of monitoring I have found out that at the moment of failure the current queue of a falling disk was 6 and the size of operation of record on a disk has sharply increased.
May be the disk simply hasn't sustained loading (though strange - Fiber-Chaneell, and High-Perfomance Disks Storage). In Windows it can be somehow possible to optimize operations of work with disks that there were no such falls.
    I need a help !!!

    Hello
I've configured my SCOM service on windows server 2008 r2 sp1, and it's database is placed on 2 disks on SAN storage (HP p9000). since MPIO is configured, sometimes SCOM was stop working. I looked Disk management console and I saw DB disks were gone! This problem
solves when I restart the server. This was happening frequently and I've changed the MPIO configuration policies. that get better but it was happening in a bit longer periods.
I searched and found out I have to install Fibrechannel hotfix (fcinfo_amd64) and Windows6.1-KB2470949-v2-x64 and the mentioned patch above. I did this and for last 3 months that was ok but last night it happens again.
It is our monitoring system and send very important messages. please help me.
    may be this information helps:

  • B1DIEvent Service on Windows Server 2008 x64 - installation hanging

I'm trying to install the B1DIEvent Service on a Windows 2008 x64 Server but the installation is not completing. It does create the directories in the SAP folder but the installer hangs at roughly 95%.
It seems to not be able to register the service on the server.
Does anyone know if there would be compatability issues with Wondows 2008 Server x64? Or are there any speciffic steps that I can take to install this?
I have installed MSMQ on the server.
    Any help would be appreaciated.
    Best wishes
    Edu van Zyl

    Hi Edu,
Did you followed the instructions compiled in the other threads showing how to recompile the dll???
Just follow step by step what is described there, it should work.
DI EVENT SERVICE ON 64 SERVER
    1. Change compilation option to x64
    2. You have to replace the following 2 lines modified marked with:
    char msg[ 398 ]; // Old was mgs[378]
    sock, msg, 398, 0, (const struct sockaddr*)&sAddr, sizeof(struct
    sockaddr_in));
    3. Replace the old dll by the new one compiled
    4. Don't forget to register the dll (after compiling and copying in the right folder):
    C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64>regsvr32.exe "C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP\SAP Business
One DI Event Service\SAP Business One DI Event Server\SBO_SP_TransactionNotification\B1DIEventsSender.dll"
Both Ad and Andres succeeded to do it.
    Hope it helps
    Trinidad.

  • Windows Server 2008 X64 - gpupdate takes 10min - svchost.exe (gpsvc) pid logs 8.5 million events in procmon

    Hello,
We've seen that on our 2008 x64 servers the svchost.exe that holds gpsvc in it takes up alot of CPU-time. Upon further investigation I saw that when it refreshes policies it holds 1 core for 10 minutes. I setup a procmon and filtered it on the pid off the gpsvc-svchost and saw that it logged 8.5 million events.
It keeps looping events where it seems to be checking history-data under "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Group Policy\History\<GUIDS>".
We are using GPPreferences. Has anyone seen anything like this before?
I have the .PML-file from procmon, however its 350MB zipped so I dont know how to attach it to case.

    Hi,
To better understand the issue, please help confirm the following:
    1.    Do all computers encounter this issue?
    2.    When did this issue begin to occur? Did it coincide with any events, such as the installation of some software?
Meanwhile, please perform the steps below to see if the issue goes away:
    1.    Delete the contents in the "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Group Policy\History\" folder.
    2.    Please perform a clean boot on the server:
    1)    Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
    2)    On the General tab, click Selective Startup.
    3)    Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.
    4)    Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All.
    5)    Click OK.
    6)    When you are prompted, click Restart.
If the issue continues, please help collect the following information for further research:
    1.    Enable gpsvc.log:
Please create the following key in Registry Editor:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Diagnostics
    Type: DWORD
    Value: GPSvcDebugLevel
    Data: 0x30002 (hexadecimal)
    2.    Please run gpupdate /force to reproduce the issue and then collect MPSReport on the server:
    1) Download the MPSReport from the website below:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=CEBF3C7C-7CA5-408F-88B7-F9C79B7306C0&displaylang=en
    2) Double-click the executable to launch the report gathering tool on the computer.
    3) Follow the steps as guided by the Wizard.
    4) On the Select the diagnostics you want to run page, select General, Internet and Networking, Business Networks, and Server Components.
    3.    After that, please zip the gpsvc.log (%windir%\debug\usermode\gpsvc.log), MPSReport and the PML.file and upload to the following space:

  • Backed up files partially disappear after restore (Windows Server 2008 R2 - Windows Server Backup)

    Dear all,
I am experiencing a problem with "Windows Server 2008 R2", using Windows Server Backup.
    Here's my setup:
    Server: RAID 5 Disk setup
    Backup:
By using Windows Server Backup (within Windows Server 2008 R2), C: and D: were fully backed up, with "System State" and "Baremetal Recovery" options selected. Backup went okay without any errors.
    Restore:
By using Windows Recovery Environment  (booted from Windows Server DVD), C: and D: were fully restored to the original partitions with "System Recovery" option found within Windows RE (without re-formatting partitions during restore). Restore
went OK without any errors. Rebooted, and system has been running fine.
    Problem:
After the restore, the system itself seems running OK; no BSOD, no crash, no visible errors.
However, our client insisted some files (around 6 to 7) which are related to the propriety software has "disappeared" right after System Recovery.
    Question:
Since Windows Server Backup is using "Volume Shadow Copy" technology which enables "live backup" of the running system, is it possible that some files will disappear (=restore error) after
    System Recovery?
I cannot really find any errors or warnings related to Windows Server Backup in the event log, through. No Windows-backup errors. No VSS errors, too.
Do anybody have experienced this kind of problem in the past?  Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your reply, Ms. Mandy.
To make things clear, let me explain to you briefly:
    1. The "missing data" was backed up with "full system backup".
    2. After a system restore from the above backup image, as you mentioned, partitions has been overwritten with the partions' backup data in the Backup Data Set taken by Windows Server Backup. No error with backup. No error after restore, and reboot - system
    has been running fine.
    3. Although there was a report that the affected files(about 7 java exectables) were missing after the above restore operation, other aspect of system was running fine at the time of the report.
    4. I have checked the original backup data set - and voila, there ARE files which seems to gone after restore.
    5. When I used Windows Server Backup "on" Windows Server 2008 R2 normal environment (= NOT Recovery environment from DVD) and selectd ONLY these affected files to restore, these files could be RESTORED successfully, without any errors. SO... data
    was property backed up.
    > The recovery will overwrite the partitions so files created after the backup point will be missing.
I understand, and this is not the case this time, because the affected files are already present in the backup data set (= I have mounted the backup data as VHD, and I could clearly see them present in the mounted VHD file)
Plus, these files are completely restoreable via "selective file restore" in Windows Server Backup.
    Things I want to know/confirm:
    > The recovery will overwrite the partitions
If I understand this correctly, in case that the files in question are already present in the backup data set, these files SHOULD be restored after full system restore, right? (If these files could not be restored, Windows Server Backup SHOULD show some errors.)
What do you think, Ms. Mandy? :)

  • OCI8 IN WINDOWS SERVER 2008 x64

    Good morning,
I'm trying to configure Oracle with php in Windows server 2008, but when I try to enable Oci8, the php log shows this error:
"Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'C:\Program Files (x86)\PHP\ext\php_oci8.dll' - %1 is not a valid Win32 application. in Unknown on line 0"
So that, the phpinfo doesn't show the enabled module. Doesn't Oci8 work with 64 bytes systems?
    I'll appreciate your help.
    Thank you,

I have a Windows 2008 x64 server, with 11gR2 (64 bits) and PHP installed. In my case ZendServer 5.0.3. What I did is I replaced, in the ZendServer bin directory, the light dll (oraociicus11.dll) with the full dll of the 32 bit Instant Client (oraociei11.dll). I had to do this because the softlink approach did not work for me, and neither putting an entry in PATH to the 32 bit Instant Client. Maybe ZendServer behaves differently from PHP in this respect.
My question is, I used to access the local DB (I need to access both a local DB and a remote one) without going through tnsnames.ora, e.g. like this ,
    $c = oci_connect('USER', 'PASS');
    this would connect me directly to the local DB. I cannot do this anymore, I have to give the local information as in $c = oci_connect('USER', 'PASS', '//localhost/SID');
I tried to set the ORACLE_SID env var but that did not help. Will I not be able anymore to connect locally without the connection string in oci_connect?
    Thanks
