Stop date population when form is signed

I have a form that has a Request Date field that gets the current date from the user's machine using the following Javascript in the calculate event.
$.rawValue
= Concat(Num2Date(Date(), "MMMM DD, YYYY"), " ")
This works as expected, meaning it autopopulates the date each time the document is opened. When my form is signed (using a Document Signature field), the Request Date becomes read-only, however I need it to stop the script and become read-only thereby getting the date that the form was signed. Is there a script that I can put on my document signature field to abort the date script?
Any help you have would be greatly appreciated!

It's quite a round-about script... Why not simply use the signature signing script to set the value of the date field? The correct syntax for that is:
this.getField("DateField1").value = util.printd ("m/d/yyyy", new Date());

  • How can I populate a date field when document is signed?

    I have 4 digital signature fields in a PDF form.  Next to each signature field is a date field (m/d/yyyy format).  I would like it so when the user signs the signature box that the date field next to it populates with todays date, then changes to read only (so it cannot be altered).
    In Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 I have this form and it has the following fields
    Signature1
    Signature2
    Signature3
    Signature4
    DateField1
    DateField2
    DateField3
    DateField4
    The Signature fields trigger a Topaz.GemSignPlus driver where the end user will be signing on an electronic signature pad.
    How can I use Javascript to detect when one of those Signature fields is populated and then fill in the date to the approrpiate date field?  I tried creating boolean variables initialized as false for each sig field.  Then when the signature is done I try to change it to true, but for whatever reason my javascript detecting the value doesn't do anything.
    I've searched the net endlessly for this solution.  I can't believe I'm having such a hard time finding an answer.  I mean how many places do you go where they ask you to "Sign and date here".  Every signature based document I've ever seen also requires a date.
    Anyway here's what I have.  In Document JavaScript functions I have a script name called populate date:
    function populatedate()
    var bSignature1 = new Boolean();
    var bSignature2 = new Boolean();
    var bSignature3 = new Boolean();
    var bSignature4 = new Boolean();
    if (bSignature1) {
        DateField1.value = util.printd ("m/d/yyyy", new Date());
    if (bSignature2) {
        DateField2.value = util.printd ("m/d/yyyy", new Date());
    if (bSignature3) {
        DateField3.value = util.printd ("m/d/yyyy", new Date());
    if (bSignature4) {
        DateField4.value = util.printd ("m/d/yyyy", new Date());
    In each signature field I have under the Signed tab "This script executes when field is signed:
    var bSignature1 = new Boolean(true);
    I'm trying to change it to true see.  My thinking is if its true than DateField1.value should print the m/d/yyyy in it from the built in Date() function.
    But maybe I am not getting this context correct.  I am new to Javascript in Adobe.

    It's quite a round-about script... Why not simply use the signature signing script to set the value of the date field? The correct syntax for that is:
    this.getField("DateField1").value = util.printd ("m/d/yyyy", new Date());

  • Inconsistent data in reports while data populated when BI Publisher is up

    Hi,
    I am using an sql query in my report to populate data into it. The BI Publisher is up and running and then I viewed the report. It is displaying the data fine.
    Now, I added/updated/deleted the data into corresponding tables. The BI Publisher is still up and running.
    Now, when I try to view report the data getting displayed is not in consistent with the data in database. If I restart BI Publisher then the data is consistent with database.
    Can any of you tell me what to do to avoid this? Am I missing any configuration here? Is there any kind of caching happening within BI Publisher which can be prevented?
    Appreciate your help reg. this issue.
    Thanks in advance,
    -Vijay-

    Hi,
    there's a document cache at report level. Check if this is activated (which is as default). You'll find the checkbox Enable document cache at report level.

  • Issue while reflecting the data to ADF form from ADF Table

    Hi All,
    I have one scenario as follows:
    I have to open a form in entry mode. So I have used a Method Call activity in task flow to call "Create" in method call activity.
    Then form opens in a entry mode. I have a adf table in the page showing the entered data.
    When form opens in entry mode, instead of entering the values in the field User selects a record in ADF table, but due to the create mode of the form it will through me a error to fill mandatory fields.
    Please tell me the way so that if user selects the record(in adf table) instead of entering new record, the value would reflect in the Adf form.
    If I use a roll back on selecting the row of ADF table, then it is showing me this error "Row currency has changed since the user interface was rendered. The expected row key was oracle.jbo.Key[null ]" because there will be no row key in the cache when form opens.
    Please suggest me the way to complete the task.
    I am using jdeveloper 11.1.2.1.0
    Thanks,

    no no your are complicating yourself. :) better your should provide your usecase.
    first thing: go through the books & also adf blogs learn and understand the framework. as above person said.
    i hope that you had method call create as activity as default while page rendering it make your af: form empty(that is ready fir insertion format).
    so if your are doing like that.am sure it will throw some mandatory errors.
    error will not resolve unless without entering any data's.
    coming af:table why are using af:table - immediate = true / false(switching).
    immediate = true - skip over validation or by pass some validation in some phase - based on the component which you are using. (say as if you are using editable value holder,af:coomand button).
    grab the information here in an more legible manner.

    let me know your usecase.

  • Creating a date field that autogenerates when form is opened but the date is fixed upon signing.

    Hi,
    I have been creating a series of PDF forms on Adobe XI Pro that are designed to be filled in using Adobe Reader (hence are saved as Adobe Reader Extended). Once the form is complete there are signature fields that the user digitally signs which then deactivates specific form fields from further editing. Alongside the signature field I have got a date field which, at the moment, is using JavaScript to auto-generate the current date upon opening. However, the issue I am having is that I want this date field to be fixed when the form is signed, rather than updating again when the form is next opened. Is this possible?
    The document JavaScript that I am currently using to generate the date is as follows:
    this.getField("PR_Date1").value = util.printd("dd/mmm/yyyy", new Date());
    But obviously this is independent of the date field.
    I am very new to Adobe in general so I don't have much of an idea about how to go about doing this. Could somebody please help me to do this if it is possible?
    Thank you
    KC

    Hélène-
    Thanks for the detail regarding validation script, but I still am having a problem with it.
    I have tried what you told me (remove reset the value) the popup no longer appears when the form is opened. But the validation does not seen to be working. It is not working either in the validate or exit event. This is what I have now on that text field.
    ----- form1.#subform[0].Y::exit - (JavaScript, client) ---------------------------------------------
    //Verify year is current or year+1
    var today = new Date();
    var year = today.getFullYear();
    if (this.rawValue == year || this.rawValue == year+1)
    app.alert("Year is invalid.\n\nOnly current or next year is valid.");
    ----- form1.#subform[0].Y::validate - (JavaScript, client) -----------------------------------------
    //Final verification
    ScriptObject.ValidateField(event.target, this);
    This final verification script I have taken from the samples on the
    LiveCycle Developer Center (Validating field content in a form hosted in Adobe Acrobat).
    The alert only displays when 2007 or 2008 is entered. I am really confused now. I thought I had a handle on this with your explanation.
    I do not know where to go now. The Object Pallet is setup as:
    Field Tab
    Allow Plain Text Only and Limit Length are checked with a Max Chars: 4. Edit Pattern: 99999
    Value Tab
    Type: User Entered - Required
    Validation Pattern: 9999
    Validation Script Message is checked - in Message box Invalid Year.
    Binding Tab
    Default Binding: Normal
    Data Format: Plain Text
    I am hoping that you can explain what I have wrong.
    Thanks so much,
    Confused Nancy

  • Data population into 2D barcodes in LiveCycle 9 forms

    I am building a form that populates the data entered into text fields, drop-down lists, etc. into a 2D data matrix barcode.  The form has a "Wecome Page" where the user selects what sub-form they want to complete.  I have actions created that cause all the sub-forms to be disabled and invisible until that sub-form is selected.  Once it is selected all other sub-forms are set to remain disabled and invisible.  After the selected sub-form is completed the user clicks on the "Print Button" and the sub-form is printed with the data populated into the 2D barcode.  Currently as the selected sub-form is being filled in, tabbing to the next field is slow (about 3 to 5 seconds) becuase the data is going directly to the barcode.  Is there a way to have the data popluated into the barcode before the sub-form is printed in order to improve the performace?
    Thank you

    Hi again Steve, and thanks for the response.
    The workflow is an interactive form which will be completed by the customer.
    Do correct me if I'm wrong - I want to be absolutely sure I got this right:
    As far as I understand, a viable option would be to generate the barcode on the server, using data which is also used to pre-populate the form. The server should then be able to stream the form to the client WITHOUT reader extending it, and the client should be able to see the barcode, complete the form and print it using plain Adobe Reader.
    If I however want the barcode to be generated from data entered interactively into the form, I have three options:
    a) Reader extend the form before streaming it to the client.
    b) Make sure the client fills out the form using Acrobat Pro.
    c) Have the client complete the form (without barcode) and submit it to the LC server, which could then generate a new form WITH barcode and return it (as for instance an PDF/A) to the client.
    None of the options above require the LC 2D Barcode module, as the LC 2D Barcode module is only needed when decoding an already existing bar code.
    How am I doing so far? :>

  • Error message when attempting to sign/certify a form

    Tried posting this in the Forms section and got no responses.
    At the moment, I am working with Acrobat Professional 8.1.  I've created a number of simple forms in LiveCycle Designer for our department to use, but they have to be certified by our Doc Control department to be released for official use.
    The Doc Control clerk is using Acrobat Professional X.  When she clicks Sign and Certify, she gets an error message:  "This document contains some constructs which result in dynamic behavior or external dependencies which could affect its appearance.  The document contains rich content that cannot be reliably suppressed. Contact the document author regarding whether you should sign or trust signatures in the document.
    If I try to sign and certify, I get a notification that this content exists, but I am still able to apply a signature.  But, of course, I'm the form author.
    How can we get past this roadblock?

    Would it be possible for you to attach a sample (or test) file that is exhibiting this behavior?

  • Automatically populating a Form from data stored in Access

    Hi,
    I need help automatically populating a form from data stored in Access. The form needs to have specific fields that are updated from an Access database. I want to be able to enter a site number and have the subsequent list of information (approximately 35 pieces of data) populate. I DO NOT want to update the Access database via the form. The form is for quick viewing and documentation only, not data entry. Currently I've been doing this with VB in Access which exported the data to a Word Document which was then saved as a PDF. It seems easier and less troublesome to go directly to the PDF form, but I can't figure out how!
    I have already connected my database to the form using OLEDB.
    I don't want a dropdown list and I don't want buttons to scroll through the sites (I've already found out how to do that through this forum).
    Any help would be very much appreciated!!

    Some more help to get started in this.. would be really appreciated..Are you trying to come up with the graphs yourself? IF so, are you familiar with MVC?

  • How to execute the data in the form when the data is already avaliable

    Hi,
    I am working with forms 6i. I have a problem while executing the data in the form
    Actually, the data is already present in the form. But when i run the form, the data is not displayed.
    can anyone please help me how to execute the data. below is the code
    Set_Alert_Property(alert_id,ALERT_MESSAGE_TEXT,'Do you want to refresh new Data for that Year and Field ? (it will take a time).') ;
                   SET_ALERT_BUTTON_PROPERTY(alert_id, ALERT_BUTTON1, LABEL, 'Yes');
                   SET_ALERT_BUTTON_PROPERTY(alert_id, ALERT_BUTTON2, LABEL, 'No');
                   SET_ALERT_BUTTON_PROPERTY(alert_id, ALERT_BUTTON3, LABEL, 'Cancel');
                   button_number :=Show_Alert(alert_id) ;
                   synchronize;
                   if button_number != ALERT_BUTTON3 then
                        if button_number = ALERT_BUTTON1 then
                             :param.field := :control.f_cd;
                             :param.year := :control.year;
                             build_tables;
                             fields;
    -- areas(:param.field);
                             PUT_PARAM;
                             COMMIT_FORM;
                        go_block('wet_criterias');
                        end if;
                        if button_number = ALERT_BUTTON2 then
                             :exhibits.field_display := :control.f_name || ' - Exhibits';
                             go_block('RESERVOIR');
                             execute_query;
                        end if;
                   end if;
              end if;
    else
         message('Fields must be entered...');
    end if;
    else
    message('Fields must be entered...');
    end if;

    It's hard to know what logic you are trying to implement.
    However, by looking at your code, it seems that if the user select 'Yes' to the question "Do you want to refresh", nothing is done except the go_block('wet_criterias'). Should there be an 'Execute_Query' ?
    No idea...

  • Pre-populating Server's Current Date in the form- How to??

    The simplest way of doing this is writing one-line formcalc script.
    This is not fair when the user changes his local system date/time.
    I need to know how to pre-populate the server date in the form?
    One way of doing this is writing a web service.
    Any other simple solution to do this??
    Thanks,
    Nith

    If you are using LiveCycle Forms (7.x, ES, or ES2), with .pdf rendering on the server or the client, you can execute the script server side. Otherwise you have no other option but to access an external resource (REST, Web Service, JSP/servlet, etcetera) for the time, if you need to accurately capture form open time on the desktop.

    Wow, Karan Taneja, you've just embarrassed yourself on a worldwide support forum.  Not only is your post ridiculous and completely inappropriate for a technical support forum, but it also shows your ignorance as to whom you think the audience is.  Apple is not here.  It's users, like you.
    If you would have spent half the time actually reading the Terms of Use of this forum that YOU agreed to by signing up to post, as you did composing that usesless, inappropriate post, you (and the rest of us on this forum) would have been much better off.

    The issues you describe have nothing to do with the other posting you are referencing. They state they have the following problem:
    (numbers on ipad) drops several of the important features that I created in the laptop version such as headers and footers, fonts, steppers, sliders, etc.
    It sounds like your having no data entry at all. There is a known issue with certain formulas causing crashes, but not every data entered like you seem to be stating.
    I might have missed it, but did you delete and reinstall Numbers on your ipad?
    If not, please write down EXACTLY the steps used to reproduce the problem, then go to http://www.apple.com/feedback and input this into a bug report for ipad numbers. Be very specific as to the steps involved to get to the crash point.
    Thanks

  • Populating PDF Form with XML File.

    Hi,
    I need my PDF form to be populated with the data in XML file.I've created a data connction to the file and binded the values to my fields.When I've opened the form in Reader/Acrobat i'm not able to see any date on the form.
    Currently,I'm using "xfa.host.importData()" to import an XML file on a button click.It is working fine.But I need to load the data on Form Load itself.
    I'm relatively new to PDF technologies.Any help would br gratly appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance.

    The binding feature in designer just allows you to describe how to map fields to data elements, not to actually populate them autotmatically. You would need to have a server component to merge data / pre-populate or a script on your reader-enabled form to load the data. You can use xfa.host.importData() in DocReady event if you want it to prompt on loading the pdf. Earlier events in the chain wont work until the form has been properly loaded.

  • Saved PDF does not  restore data properly when reopened

    I have a simple PDF I created in Livecycle Designer where I fill in some input fields and save the PDF. The problem I am having is when I save the PDF, and then reopen it, the data in the input fields are no longer where I originally typed them in.
    The PDF is saved as a version 8 Dynamic PDF and the Form properties is set to 'Automatic' (that is, not manual). If anyone can help me, I would be so appreciative.
    My PDF can be downloaded at:
    https://share.acrobat.com/adc/document.do?docid=bcb8f652-f468-4c81-b221-65a5e397c89d

    I think I figured this out. The code to add subforms called sect is executing on the initialize event of the P1 subform. The initialize event is running twice (once on the server (pdf creation) and once on the client inside of acrobat when it is rendered. If you move that code to the Doc Ready event the form will display correctly. I put a textfield on the form this populated when the initialization script is run. This tells me how many times it runs.
    Now back to your original problem.
    If I run your script to populate the rooms and re-open it is getting messed up again because the Doc Ready event is running each time you open the form. Instead of trying to initialize the form programatically if you use the Initial count on the binding tab of the subform all of this initiazation problems go away.
    Are you intending on having multiple rooms subforms per section or will it always be one to one? if there is a one to one mapping change the checkbox on the binding tab that indicates that multiple subforms are available.
