Stop downloading of duplicate pictures
Is there a way to stop the download of duplicate pictures, when I attach my Iphone or camera?
I use Picasa 3.9 as my picture viewer. It has an option to exclude duplicates.

To delete all podcasts go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Podcasts

You can inspect and manage permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab via these steps:
*Click the "[[Site Identity Button|Site Identity Button]]" (globe/padlock) on the location/address bar
*Click "More Information" to open "Tools > Page Info" with the Security tab selected
*Go to the Permissions tab (Tools > Page Info > Permissions) to check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab

I recently had to transfer from one iphone to another so I decided to restore via my iCloud backup. The problem is, my phone stopped downloading my pictures halfway through. Everything else downloaded just fine but my phone says it is still restoring. Simply put, what do I do about my pictures?
Welcome to the Apple Forums.
Unfortunately, you are not the first user to experience this. I was hoping that you have been syncing your photos to a computer as an archiving process, but if you haven't been doing that, you might try aborting the restore and try again. If you do have the photos on a computer, you can sync them back. -
Why do I get duplicate pictures when I download from my iPhone to iphoto
Ever since I upgraded my iMac to Yosemite, when I sync my iPhone with my iMac and iPhoto. I get duplicate pictures in my iPhoto. I have to go in and manually delete the duplicates. Does anyone know why? Is there a setting that I can adjust so that I don't get the duplicates?

How to delete unwanted or duplicate pictures from photos
Trying to organize photos into albums. In doing so want to delete duplicate photos or unwanted photos. Also since I've re-organized pictures into different albums I would like to eliminate older albums. Is this possible and if so how. I've purchased several softwares but they don't help with old pictures downloaded over a yr ago. I think this can be done through ITunes but don't know how to access for this purpose. Can you recommend best way to edit pictures and albums?
If you are reorganizing pictures that have been synced from the computer to the phone, any adjustments to those pictures has to be done on the computer and then synced back to the phone. The only photos that you can delete on the phone itself are ones that are in the Camera Roll.
Unless you have synced duplicate pictures, I think you may be referring to the fact there are pictures in an album and also in a folder that was called Pictures Library. The library folder no longer exists under iOS 7. All photo management for photos that have been synced should be handled on the computer, and then changes synced to the phone. This syncing is done in the Photos tab of iTunes. -

No, your iPhone and your iPad should not appear in the finder.
I'm not sure what you mean about downloading photos with iPhoto being double handling, but you can download direct to a folder with Image Capture. Image Capture can also be used to delete photos from the Camera Roll on the iPhone or iPad (preferrably after they are downloaded).
You can remove the photos you synced from your phone with iTunes by syncing again with an empty folder, That will delete all the photos that were previously synced that way, replacing them with the contents of the empty folder (that is, nothing). This will not effect photos takes with the camera on your iPhone. -

GingerHow did you transfer the photos from your other iPhone? If you did it by importing them from the old phone to a computer and then used iTunes to sync them back to the new phone, then you would delete them by syncing again using iTunes but this time change the selection of which photos are to be synced. Each time you sync using iTunes, it sets the non-Camera Roll photos on the phone to match the current settings/selection in iTunes.

Have tried 4 times to reset, erase and restore but always the same result. Everything restores except my photos. When I go to photos at the bottom of the screen it says downloading but the pictures never transfer. Every time I turn my phone on it asks to continue restore but it never finishes. It won't let me upgrade to the latest iOS due to incomplete restoration.
How long has it been since you let the restore just happen? Sometimes photos are what takes the longest to bring back from an iCloud back up. I would recommend that you let it just keep restoring for about 2-3 days and see if more photos come back than what you're experiencing. Also make sure that you are connected to wifi as much as possible so that those photos can be downloaded faster. It is a waiting and being patient kind of thing. I did an iCloud restore from a backup that took 4 days to finish bringing down all my photos.

the podcasts that I have subscribed to via itunes have stopped downloading/syncing. I see new podcasts on the podcasts website but they are not listed on my list of itunes podcasts, nor do they show up when I sync to an iPod. any ideas, thanks joanlvh

Mail App stopped downloading new messages from Gmail
I'm using MBP with OS X Lion.
I've been using Mail App for my two Gmail accounts. I also use two different types of mail downloading systems (POP and IMAP) for them. For some reason, the speed of downloading new messages started slowing down a few weeks ago; however, I could still use it until today. Today, it seems like it is completely out.
It just stopped downloading new messages completely.
For the POP account, it says:
There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “POP” or try again.
The server returned the error: The connection to the server “pop.gmail.com” on port 995 timed out.
For the IMAP account, it says:
There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “IMAP” or try again.
The server returned the error: The connection to the server “pop.gmail.com” on port 993 timed out.
The weird part is that I can still send an email out of those accounts fine.
I checked the settings for Gmail, and everything seemed just fine.
I tried to re-do everything so deleted the IMAP account. Now it shows the message below:
The Google IMAP server “imap.gmail.com” is not responding. Try checking the network connection, and that the server name is correct. Otherwise, the server might be temporarily unavailable. If you continue, you might not be able to receive messages.
I tried Connection Doctor and it shows as below:
I followed the suggestion by changing unchecking those boxes for SSL, but it didn't help either.
I tried "Rebuild" under mail box menu bar but it also didn't do anything.
Can anyone help me with this issue?

Fascinate Market all of a sudden stopped downloading apps - pls help
I bought a Samsung Fascinate today. It never downloaded any apps. I did a Master restart, and it started to download apps (about 4) - then it stopped downloading. I click on "install," it says "application will download" and then it immediately says "download unsuccessful."
I called customer service at Verizon three times - spoke to their tech guys - and they recommended getting a new phone.
So, I went tonight and got a new phone. It was working great - downloading apps.
Then all of a sudden, it stopped downloading apps and every time I try to download anything, it says "download unsuccessful."
So it's not the phone, I gather. I don't know what to do. I'm so frustrated.

Clearly, customer service/tech support is worthless (they were Googling the problem to help me - I can do that!).Letstry some different steps to try to correct this problem.
First you would want to verify that you have the 3G coverage on the phone.
You can verify that information at the top, next to the signal bars.
Then could I get you to do a soft rest on the device.
Press the Power key.
Touch Power off.
Touch OK.
Press the Power key to power on the device.
Then dial *228 send and option 1, then dial *228 send and option 2.
If you are attempting to download the same application, try downloading a different application to see if you get the same error message.
Then try this step:
From the home screen, select Applications.
Select development,
Then allow 3rd party applications.
Finally before downloading applications try stopping the applications that are running in the background.
From the home screen, select Applications.
Select Running Services, Choose unnecessary applications and Force Stop. -

Cell data is turned off but it is still downloading.When you initially enable iTunes Match on any iDevice it is wise to let it operate for a good period docked or with good WiFi.
Best route to stop it if essential is to switch off iTunes Match.
