Stop Installing MCafee Antivirus every time you update!

Getting really tired of having to uninstall this garbage every time you update.  I am updating flash, which is annoying enough as one of the most nonsecure programs on the internet.  Piling more garbage on top of it is just insult.
Please give an option to not install McAfee.  I don't need it.

Use the FULL installers to update:
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)

  • Why in God's name is it that every time YOU update firefox my add-on's break? I'll stop using your browser if you are going to keep breaking the plugins platform and require plug-in developers to re-write their plugins to stay compliant! That's retarded!

every time you people update the browser 1/2 or more of my plugins end up broken. WHY? It's counter productive when I rely on some of the add-ons I use. I'll just stop using your browser. Do you know that it gives the impression that it SUCKS?! (By the way, I had updates TURNED OFF and yet it still updated? HOW?!)

    Hi earlten
This is a '''Community-Driven''' Support Web Site for Firefox.
The community are volunteers; just ordinary users like yourself who use the Firefox browser and try to offer other users free support. Please remember this and moderate your language to show some respect. I know you are frustrated, but venting this on people who do their best to help others in their free time is not likely to be well received.
Please just state clearly the problem you are having and other users will see if they can help you.
For example: Every so often I check whether my plugins are up to date by using this link:

  • Stop forcing us to reset the look of firefox every time you update something

How about dang well not changing everything when you update this thing? Just updated and had all my toolbars get screwed up. It's sad that I have to take up even more space on my hard drive to get an ADDON to make Firefox work the way it already should. Tell us what you are changing so we can decide if we want to update or not. If you are changing the look of the browser, please allow for us to NOT do that and keep our look. It is a pain in the neck to have to hunt down all the settings to change to get this thing to live up to MY VISION of the web. No, this is not exactly a question but a pleading suggestion to not make us want to go to another browser when firefox works great until you update it and I have to spend a week trying to fix it.

    This also affects me.
Like most people, I don't keep abreast of Firefox developments. I simply use it as a web browser. I had no idea a new version was about to be released, or that by default the software was set to upgrade automatically. Had I known (especially about the drastic, forced aesthetic changes in v29), I would have disabled the automatic update.
It doesn't seem like it should be that hard to include an option at some point to keep the old look and customizations while updating. I know that isn't likely to happen - although it seems like common sense, so I couldn't say why - but I found it frustrating enough to create an account and post this, following time spent and add-ons configured, just to get the browser back to what I had yesterday. I would just install the old version instead, but I have no idea whether it would keep my history, saved passwords, and so forth, and I do want to take advantage of any security and basic functionality improvements the new version might offer.
For some people, I guess the new look is an improvement. I don't see it, though, and I doubt I'm alone in that. For me, this is an unwanted and unnecessary frustration that showed up out of nowhere.
I feel like this is an issue that comes up again and again with different product lines (Windows 8 for a blatant example), where the company forces their aesthetic choices on the user. It seems like it would be easy to provide a "classic" theme option (since third-party developers do this as soon as the new version comes out, and frustration begins to mount), but that doesn't happen, and users end up implementing work-arounds just to get back what they had in the first place.
Especially in this case - since the buttons map to the same functions and so forth; it really is just a different aesthetic - I don't know why Mozilla can't be a little more accommodating to the substantial subset of users who would rather keep the old look. I know there are add-ons and extensions that would still be incompatible with the update, but what I'm talking about should be possible without resorting to work-arounds.
I feel like you sort of brushed off the last poster. I want to draw attention to one of your lines:
'''I believe there has been enough communication regarding the changes in FF29. There is always the option not to upgrade automatically.'''
That's what they said when they knocked down Arthur Dent's house. If you're not going to provide the options I've been talking about, a little notice to those of us who don't follow developer blogs or drop by the Firefox website regularly would be appreciated. At the very least, something like a "Version X downloaded - install now?" prompt should be the default for major changes like this one.

  • How do you stop iPhoto from loading every time you dock the iPhone?

I would like to NOT have iPhoto start up every time I plug in my iPhone. I am sure there must be an easy way to do this. Thanks!

There are two different topics in this thread, and two separate "sync photo" issues with iPhone.
    1) Syncing photos to iPhone, similar to the process if you had an iPod. This is handled as mentioned above, from within iTunes.
    2) Syncing photos from iPhone, as with any camera. This is handled from within iPhoto, also as mentioned above.
I just wanted to point out that these are two independent processes, able to be modified separately.
If you have cleared out the iPhone and/or not taken any more pictures, it will not cause iPhoto to pop up.

  • Every time you update there are compatibility issues. Especially with Anti-virus programs. WHY? When publishing updates it seems that it would behoove you to contact ALL Virus programs.

Every time I have FF updates there are major compatibility issues with anti virus, Adobe Flash, Java, & HP printer. This happens whenever Firefox has updates unless I wait 3-4 weeks to update. Impossible to live with these issues constantly.

It's 6 weeks between Firefox version updates, not 8 weeks.
Firefox doesn't force developers to create add-ons for Firefox, it is their choice. If they aren't up to the challenge of the fast release schedule, maybe they need to rethink their commitment to add-ons for Firefox and quit the game if they can't keep up with it.

  • Do you. Pay every time you update a purchased app?

When you update a purchased app such as game when you update is there an additional charge ?

Usually not, but you need to see all the info on the app to know if updates are free.

  • Can you please stop changing my default search engine every time you update Firefox?

I would like for the developers of Firefox to respect my settings. I have taken the time to set them and do not appreciate my default search engine changed by Mozilla when updates are automatically applied. Somewhere along the lines, Mozilla hopped in bed with Yahoo. I'm not in bed with Yahoo, please keep me out of the bedroom!!!!

Agree completely. Mozilla's reputation takes a hit from affiliation with Yahoo - this is one of the reasons I've stopped automatically accepting upgrades, no matter how many times a day mozilla pushes them at me with a pop-up message.

  • Installer update method changes every time i update an adobe product!

hello, it is REALY anoying, that the user have to set/chose the update method e.g. "Notify me to install updates" EVERY TIME you update adobe products!!! Because Adobe Installer resets these settings every time, they offer a new product update (adobe flash or adobe reader e.g.).
I dont wont to "Allow Adobe to install updates"!!! I only want to be notified about new updates! So I have to read every time the options again to choose the right option.
Another alternative would be to me, not to install product updates, but I think this is not what adobe wants the user should chose.
    Best Regards,
    Tom

  • Do you have to down load from the internet using apple's recover partition, every time you need to do a clean install? or can you make a copy of Mt Lion onto a USB stick and install off that?

Do you have to down load Mountain Lion from the internet every time you need to do a clean install? or can you make a copy of Mt Lion onto a USB stick and install off that?
    Thanks

Yes you can make a USB stick of Lion or Mt Lion. Use Lion Disk Maker after you download OS X from the internet.
For Lion you have to point the download to an external drive and watch when it completes and reboots the system to start the install disconnect the external. If you bought Mt Lion from the Mac App Store then you can download it from there and just cancel the install when it comes up on the desktop.
If you are downloading from the Recovery HD or from the Online Internet Recovery system, slightly different then the built in Recovery HD, then again you need to point it to an external drive and discoonect that drive when the system reboots to start the real install.
Then use Lion disk maker to create either a DVD disc or USB thumb of the install files.

How do I stop the system from sending e-mail notification every time i update icloud?

Pages.  Every time I add new information to the program I get an e-mail asking me if I was the one logging on.  It is an annoyance.

  • Do apps' file sizes increase every time you install, delete then reinstall, etc.?

Does an app's file size get bigger slightly every time you reinstall it?

Either from computer or from the App Store on your phone.  To reinstall the app, you need to delete the one on your phone first.  Of course, if the app has a newer version, the new version could be larger (or smaller) but when reinstalling the same version, the app is the same size.
    Why are you asking this?

  • Please quit breaking Firefox 3 Theme for Firefox 4+ Reloaded every time you up-version FF... I *hate* the bland theme that is now your default.

I'm sick of every update to Firefox breaking the "Firefox 3 Theme for Firefox 4+" add-on, and now the "Firefox 3 Theme for Firefox 4+ Reloaded" add-on. I hate the new boring, monochrome theme that was introduced years ago, and have always replaced it with the more usable and colorful theme from FF3, but virtually every time you up-version FF, it breaks the theme. I'm obviously not alone in this opinion, or no one would have bothered to create and attempt to maintain these themes over the years.
Can you please either re-incorporate this theme as an officially supported option into the core product, or just quit breaking the add-ons that people have graciously created for those of us who like the older look and feel. I have not bothered to update to FF26 or 27 because of this, and am sick of having to hack xpi files to fake out the supported version range every time your release number increments break some theme or add-on that I rely on.
    Thanks!

I agree, Mozilla needs to stop messing up the themes. Let the programmers install the Fire 3 Theme for those of us that want it.
And they can leave their insane default theme for those idiots that like
a bland, colorless look. But give the users a choice and don't try to tell me or anyone else that you can not do it or that it has to be "their way" .. That is a sure way to alienate people from your product. It obviously can be fixed without compromising the so called better security of the new Firefox.

  • Every time I update LR to a new version I seem to need a patch to make it work..... once again here I am SOS! I've just update LR to the 5.7 version and It wont let me start it: The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b).

Your system is missing a couple DLLs that LR needs, but the fix at Adobe is to copy them to the LR folder which gets replaced for each install, so you have to redo it after each LR install.  It would be worth documenting the process and saving the DLLs so you don’t have to ask about it each time:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/error-unable-start-correctly-0xc00007b.html
You might also use the AIO210 program to add them as detailed in this YouTube video—maybe this is a more permanent fix, but since the files are from media-fire be very careful about what you do so as not to install a virus on your computer.
I’d scan the downloaded ZIP you download with whatever virus and internet security software you have and don’t be fooled by extraneous popups you might see during the download process.  I was able to download the aio210.zip after authorizing one Captcha window and closed at least one bogus popup trying to get me to install other software.  I also scanned the downloaded zip with two virus scanners and both said it was clean.  Here is the YouTube video, where the link to the ZIP to download is in the description once you expand it:

  • Why is Logic Express 8 keep stopping after 2 sec, every time I press play? Help!!!

Why is Logic Express 8 keep stopping after 2 sec, every time I press play? Help!!!

Its likely to be caused by Ozone5.. many people have reported that plugin is currently quite unstable and are awaiting updates from izotope to fix the problem... No ETA has been given by izotope for the fix however...
Also several of your plugins are out of date (Zebra2, Clariphonic, Ozone itself.. to name but a few,)
Finally, you are running an older version of Logic Pro X (10.0.3)...and  I would normally suggest you update to the latest version  but... if you have a USB2 audio interface do not update to 10.0.5 at this time.... unless you know it will work correctly with the new version of LPX.

  • MSE Creates A Restore Point Every Time It Updates

MSE creates a redundant restore point every time it updates.
Is there any way to stop this from happening without
disabling the system from creating restore points entirely?
    Thanks.

    Thanks.
The HD is 500GB. I think by default 2% or 10GB is reserved for restore points. Once the limit is reached the restore points are overwritten - last in, first out. I have a preferred restore point established that I'd like to be preserved.
My concern is the way in which Windows Update is used to update MSE definitions. Everytime (daily) MSE AV definitions are D/L it creates another restore point. Eventually it will overwrite the restore point I established. I guess I can always remove the restore points MSE creates using CCleaner or use a different AV program but it's something that should have been addressed by MS. They should have provided users with the option of not having MSE create restore points. I know I can always turn the feature off altogether and create restore points manually but there are times when having a restore point created automatically can come in handy - like when installing a program for example.
Aside from this issue I've also noticed other little annoyances throughout the Windows 7 / 64bit - Home Premium OS.
I'm sure I'll discover more annoyances with this OS over time.
