Stop Itunes from syncing contacts

How do i stop Itunes from syncing my contacts with my phone?

I have a solution for you!
I was having the same issue.  I copied albums to my iPhone and then I was deleting songs that I didn't like. But then when I Synched with iTunes, the songs would reapear.  I complained about it to my husband, and he explained that iTunes was just trying to "complete" my albums.  Because in the sync setting I said I wanted that particular album.
Here's the solution.  Don't move the songs or the albums directly to your iDevice. Instead make a playlist and call it something like "My iPod Music" or "On the go".  Add your albums and individual songs to the playlist and then move the playlist to your iPod.  When you sync your playlist everything will be transferred over to your iPod. Including the Artist and Album information. But when you delete items from the playlist, they stay deleted.
One last thing, make sure you unclick all the albums in the iPod Music Sync window.
This worked with my iPhone 4S running iOS 6.01

  • How do you stop ITunes from syncing automatically every time I attach a device?

I have the option box checked that is supposed to stop devices from syncing automatically, yet ITunes STILL insists on syncing the devices automatically and overwriting gigabytes of data.  I've had to spend hours finding everything again after ITunes has synced when I don't want it to.  Needless to say, this is INCREDIBLY frustrating.

I no longer need an answer to this question. I didn't directly solve the problem but it solved when I was fixing something else.

  • How do I stop iTunes from syncing my gmail emails to my iPhone 4S?

I tried deselecting my gmails from the list from the "Info" tab in iTunes, hit the "Apply" button and after a while the gmails on the list are selected and greyed out. The gmails show up in my iPhone 4S running the latest software. Any way to stop this from happening?

on the iPhone select Preferences > Mail,Contacts, Calender.
Remove your gmail account from the accounts list. This will stop it appearing on the phone but not affect anything else

  • How do i stop itunes from syncing all my music to iphone

I have a problem where I have all my music syncing on to my iPhone even when "sync music" is unchecked in the iTunes application.
The data bar at the bottom of the screen shows that the sync worked (increased data amounts become available) but the music is still on the iphone.
I have even deleted music off my laptop but it still shows on the iPhone.
I've read the discussions on similar issues but can't seem to find a remedy. I discovered this problem when I needed to create some free space on the phone to add an app update. I decided to just keep my Top Rated music on the phone but as I say, everything is still there. The sync's seem to work.
Any ideas please. I've spent a fair amount of time already on this.
I am using ms notebook. iphone 5 with latest software (iOS 8.1.3).
Hope someone has some ideas. Thanks.

    Hello phil.winter,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you would like to remove your music from your iPhone but are thus far unsuccessful. I know that you have already unchecked the Sync Music box and report that the music remained on your iPhone, but did you click the Apply button in the bottom right hand corner of iTunes after you unchecked that box? If not please try this step and let me know if the issue continues.
Sync your iPhone, iPad, and iPod with iTunes using USB - Apple Support
Click the Sync button in the lower-right corner of the screen to sync your content. Only the information in the content list you've enabled syncing for will sync to your computer. If you made any changes to any of the settings, first click the apply button.
    Have a great day,

  • How do I stop iTunes from syncing purchased music?

Every time I sync my iPhone, purchased music is going back onto the phone. This is such an odd problem. I have 'manually manage music' selected. Nothing else gets automatically synced but my purchased music.
Also, sometimes, when I delete music from my iPhone, and I click 'sync' and then 'done,' in the iTunes window, it shows up as deleted, but the music is still on my iPhone!
Strange! My iPhone (iPhone 5) and my iTunes (both completely up to date) are acting weirder and weirder. Could it be that I'm on a 4-year-old MacBook Pro?

You linked them both to the same Apple ID and thence to the same iCloud account.  Don't do that.

How can I STOP iTunes from automatically trying to add podcasts to my iPod when I plug it in and sync it, so I can manage the files? I have already unchecked "Sync Podcasts" and "Automatically include,"yet EVERY time I sync it,it still transfers podcasts as the last step, and at other times randomly, when trying to just add some MP3's to a playlist, for example.  I can't seem to find any other option to uncheck, and can't find an answer from my so-far internet searching.

erict, you blew me away with that suggestion! It was something so simple I couldnt believe I hadnt thought of it! But in the end it didn't work, which I was really surprised about. On Windows anytime anything was moved itunes was hoplessly lost, but on this mac it still kept up with everything. I tried renaming folders, moving folders, and even renaming moved folders but it still kept trying to import.
I even went as far as deleting EVERYTHING i had moved to the Mac, which didnt really work. It still kept trying to import what wasnt there which made it continue to freeze up. However, after doing this it, the freezing was not nearly as bad. It gave me enough of a break to cancel it through the itunes dialog box at the top of the app. So in the end, thats all I really needed to do, only before I had deleted everything the freezing would not allow me to do it.
So now Im reimporting everything again, only slowly, and only a few Artists at a time.

You might try the iPad forum - or the iTunes forum - this really is not an iPhoto question

  • Stopping video from syncing with iTunes

A frequently asked question is: How do I stop video content from being synced from my Apple TV to my iTunes? As soon as someone asks that, some frequent posters respond: Why in the world would you want to do that? Your video won’t be backed up, etc. etc. (And by the way, you can't stop it from syncing.) Here’s why we want to do that:
A large number of Apple TV users download their video content directly to the Apple TV from the iTunes Store – Jobs announced that feature last winter, and Apple prominently markets it. Many of us don’t want to keep that video permanently, since it’s either rented movies or TV episodes we’ll never watch again. So we have no need to backup that content to our iTunes.
But if we also have music and photos to watch on the Apple TV, there aren’t any good options:
    * Stream music and photos to the Apple TV: Photos are slow to stream, and often I have my laptop with iTunes out of the house when my wife wants to watch or listen. (We have a wireless g network with typical average transfer speeds of 8 – 10 Mbs, so streaming a 5 MB high-resolution photo from a 12 MP camera takes 3 – 5 seconds seconds, which is an eternity when you’re looking at family snapshots.)
    * Sync video, music, and photos with iTunes: The videos hog space on the laptop’s hard drive, and more importantly, syncing hogs network bandwidth for 10 – 30 minutes for each TV episode (longer for movies). The video can be stored on an external drive, but that’s extra money and an annoying hassle to keep iTunes video on the external drive and music and photos on the internal drive (so they can travel with the laptop).
So here’s what I end up doing: When I start iTunes, if it starts syncing video with the Apple TV, I immediately cancel it. Usually, we’ll watch and delete that video from the Apple TV soon enough. But occasionally there’s a movie or TV episode on the Apple TV we haven’t watched yet, and I want to sync new photos or music with the Apple TV immediately. So I’m forced to wait for the video to sync with my iTunes before it will sync the photos (despite selecting the option “Sync photos before other media”). At that point, I have to remember to delete the video from my iTunes, but only after we watch it (Apple TV won’t let you delete a synced video). (Yes, I know I can go into Windows Explorer and delete the actual file and delete the dangling link from iTunes later, but that’s even more annoyance.)
This is all pretty clumsy for a consumer product. It would be trivial for Apple to add an option to iTunes that would prevent video from being synced to iTunes, and it would better support a very common use-case.

While holding down the Command + Option keys and connect your iPod. Wait until the iPod appears in iTunes before you let go of the keys. This will stop the iPod from doing an auto sync.
Once in iTunes you will have to restore your iPod by clicking on the Restore button. Once restored you will then have to sync your content back onto the iPod.

  • How do I stop iTunes from auto-launching when connecting iPod.

I have found one method of doing this set out below.
You may want to stop iTunes from auto-launching whenever you plug in your iPod. To do this, open iTunes, and select the iPod in the left-hand Source window. Four buttons will then appear in the lower right-hand corner of the iTunes window. Click the left-most button with the iPod icon on it. This will bring up the iPod Preferences dialog. Uncheck the option labeled "Open iTunes when attached." You probably also want to prevent iTunes from trying to automatically synchronize your iPod when you connect by selecting the "Manually manage songs and playlists" option in the same Preferences dialog.
I am unable to find the iPod icon in the left hand Source window, maybe if I connect my iPod an icon will appear, but I don't want to do this in case stuff is transferred between the iPod and Comp or vice versa.
Sorry to be so long winded, but it was difficult to explain without being so.
If any one knows of another way to do what I am trying to do
Perhaps they would let me know.
    ASP   Windows XP Pro

okay. in a 7.0.x, we no longer get the "ipod options" icon when the ipod is plugged in and selected in the sourcelist (the area to the left of the iTunes screen). instead, the ipod options and preferences display for us in the main library screen.
"Open iTunes when this ipod is connected" is kept down at the bottom of the "Summary" tab. (scroll down to the bottom of that tab to see everything under the "Options" heading.)
"manually manage music" (or "manually manage music and videos" if you've got a video-capable ipod) is also kept down at the bottom of the "Summary" tab in the Options area.
for a technique for connecting the ipod without automatically syncing (if you have an automatic syncing option set on the ipod already), and then changing the options to "manually manage music", see:
How to keep iTunes from automatically updating your iPod
unfortunately, that document is also written for itunes 6.0.x or earlier. so in your case the instructions under the "Now that you're logged in as the Guest user, it's time to get back to iTunes and your iPod:" section at steps 4, 5 and 6 should read:
    4. Scroll down to the bottom of the Summary Tab
    5. Check the "Manually manage music" checkbox.
    6. Click "Apply".

  • How do I stop iTunes from starting up in the other active Windows sessions?

I have multiple (3) user accounts on a windows (Vista) computer. When I start iTunes from one account iTunes wants to also start up on each of the active windows accounts and continues to attempt to start iTunes after some time period (90 seconds?).
I get a error screen on the attempts for the User that should not be starting iTunes that reads:
You cannot open the application "iTunes" because another user has it open.
Ask the other user to quit the application, then try again.
I want iTunes to run within only one account. How do I stop iTunes from starting up in the other active accounts?

Connect iPhone - iTunes will launch
select iPhone in iTunes' left column
in iTunes' main window untick "Automatically sync ..."

  • How can i stop iTunes from Auto rating my songs??

How can i stop iTunes from auto rating my songs in my library?? I have my library very organized and 90% of the time when i listen to music i play "My Top Rated" Playlist on shuffle. The only time i give stars ratings to my songs is for my favourite songs which i give 5 star and every other song is just left with no stars. For some reason iTunes is giving songs i have never played or i dont like 5 Stars and rewining my playlists. I have tried erasing all the stars from my entire library and since doing this a week ago, again (for the 4th time in a year) having a library with not 1 song with any star ratings, all of a sudden i now have 329 random songs with 5 stars again??????
This is really getting to me as i love my music and love iTunes and everything apple but seriously there has to be away to stop this so i can have my old playlists back!
Thanks hope some one can help

One reason itunes will start "at regular intervals" will be if you have an iphone that has sync via wifi enabled. I had the problem following an upgrade to iOS 5.
